    Opis:
    The subject matter of the article is a description of one of the sources of functional expressions – the multifunctionality of the pronoun with reference to the nominal pronoun kto and the adjective pronoun który. The pronoun seems to be the most diversified part of speech because it fails to follow a single exemplary criterion in defining its type category. Also, having a complex internal structure its multifunctionality is demonstrated on various text organization levels. The starting point of the description is the analysis of the contrast between interrogative and relative functions of these pronouns. Considering the multiplicity of the text roles both pronouns kto and który are presented as functional homonyms. The various pronoun roles identified on the text organization level validate the statement that the multifunctionality of the pronoun is a source of functional expressions.

    Opis:
    The article focuses on particles derived from object-level expressions, but operating at a higher, metatextual level. Such particles are sourced chiefly from speaker-oriented parentheticals composed of verba dicendi and verba sentiendi. Following the elision of parentheticals and other expressions, functional homonymy arises: a particle/a different part of speech (most commonly an adverb). This results in an uncertainty regarding the status of particles. The understanding of particles as parts of speech is also problematic due to the linguistic tradition which relies on the Latin name particula, meaning ‘a little part’/‘a particle’. The classification of expressions operating both at the object and the metatextual level creates further concerns. The meaning of particles does not change, as at most they may undergo a phonetic change (cf. bodaj ‘probably’, ponoć ‘they say’/‘apparently’, oczywiście ‘of course’). The discrepancy between the two levels is brought about mainly by changes taking place at the object level (e.g. mówię w prawdzie ‘I am telling the truth’ ˃ wprawdzie ‘admittedly’; wiem za pewne ‘I know for sure’ > zapewne ‘probably’). Thus, a class of particles is being formed that is a separate and formally distinct part of speech.

    Artykuł analizuje najnowsze zapożyczenia językowe pojawiające się w trakcie emisji współczesnych ukraińskich programów humorystycznych i rozrywkowych oraz popularnego serialu młodzieżowego.     The article deals with the new lexical borrowings analysis in the discourse of the modern Ukrainian comedy shows, entertainment programs and popular youth series. It has been proved that foreign borrowed lexemes are used not just in terms of foreign language lexical units; they experience the semantic structure changes and obtain the new stylistic expressions.

    The purpose of the suggested scientific research was the identification of specific transformations that are subject to advertising texts and proverbial expressions in oral colloquial speech, and the study of their communicative potential. It is stated that advertising at the beginning of the 21st century became a crucial factor of many social processes and the part of the national culture, changing social norms, cultural traditions, people’s mentality and their verbal behavior. Case advertising texts became a part of society cognitive basis, and they may change when cited. In particular, the number of conclusions were made: advertising texts in oral colloquial discourse may be subject to semantic transformations (the update of semantically coherent advertising content words), structural and semantic transformations that involve lexical substitution, semantic extension and speech compression. In particular, lexical substitution occurs as a result of the replacement of one or more text components, resulting in the expression gets a new connotative shade, additional expression. Semantic extension is due to the expansion of the expression semantics as a result of involving additional language units. Speech compression is a reduction of the proverbial advertising expression, namely some case text speech components are omitted. The changed as a result of speech compression expressions enhance the expressiveness of the intertext and often add a humorous shade of meaning.

    The subject to be presented and described in the present paper are word combinations with mythological (Graeco-Roman) origins occurring in eight crime novels penned by Marek Krajewski, taking the shape of: (i) better or less known phrasemes, or conventional petrified multiword units reproduced in a communicative act to express particular intentions and intensions; (ii) phrasematic innovations, or phrasemes modified formally and/or semantically and used against the grain of the phraseological norm; or (iii) literary nonce phrasemes, that is multiword units created ad hoc for the purposes of style and world depiction, containing eponyms and eponymisms of mythological origin which exist in Polish. The proposed examination of conventional (the titular convention), innovative, and nonce (the titular invention) units used in the excerpted crime novels is of a qualitative and functional nature, since its focus is on an attempt to point out and discuss the functions which the selected examples serve in the literary messaging. Polyword mythology-based expressions fulfil numerous and various (often at the same time) functions in M. Krajewski’s crime novels, incl. cultural-identitarian, content-focused, expressive, evaluative, aesthetic and others.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie dyskursu prawniczego, jaki ma miejsce w Unii Europejskiej, jako niezwykłego zjawiska międzynarodowej komunikacji specjalistycznej i, na podstawie analizy rzeczywistych danych, wyszczególnienie specyficznych jednostek leksykalnych, kładąc przy tym nacisk na wyrażenia wieloczłonowe, w trakcie badań struktury i funkcji analizowanego tekstu. Ukazana analiza obejmuje badanie wybranej anglojęzycznej Dyrektywy Unii Europejskiej, przy użyciu metody podejścia mieszanego. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań wskazują, że analizowana pod kątem struktury i funkcji Dyrektywa unijna zawiera znaczną ilość wyrażeń wieloczłonowych charakterystycznych dla języka prawniczego, które nie zakłócają specyficznego układu syntaktycznego rozważanego z punktu widzenia występowania różnorodnych strukturalnych i funkcjonalnych kategorii leksykalnych. Ponadto, artykuł umożliwia wgląd we współczesne badania naukowe, jakie miały miejsce w sferze formalnego dyskursu prawniczego i translacji.
