Opis:: This study is focused on the image analysis of motionless hydraulic mixing process, for which pressure changes were the driving force. To improve the understanding of hydraulic mixing, mixing efficiency was assessed with dye introduction, which resulted in certain challenges. In order to overcome them, the framework and methodology consisting of three main steps were proposed and applied to an experimental case study. The experiments were recorded using a camera and then processed according to the proposed framework and methodology. The main outputs from the methodology which were based only on the recorded movie were liquid heights and colour changes during the process time. In addition, considerable attention has also been given to issues related to other colour systems and the hydrodynamic description of the process.

Opis:: Przeprowadzone badanie stanowi porównanie dwóch medialnych reprezentacji w czasie tzw. kryzysu migracyjnego na granicy polsko-białoruskiej. Celem artykułu jest znalezienie odpowiedzi na następujące pytania badawcze: jakie ramy medialne dominowały od połowy sierpnia do listopada 2021 r. w dwóch tygodnikach opinii – konserwatywnym „Sieci” oraz lewicowym „Przeglądzie”; czy poprzez ramy medialne możemy śledzić przebieg debaty na temat „kryzysu migracyjnego” i tworzenie się medialnego dyskursu; czy zastosowanie określonych ram odzwierciedla profil ideowy badanych mediów oraz ujawnia ich sentymenty polityczne? Metodą badania, którą zastosowano, jest analiza ramowa będąca częścią analizy zawartości. Łącznie przebadano 65 tekstów o charakterze publicystycznym. Analiza pozwoliła sformułować następujące wnioski: 1. Dominującą ramą w tygodniku „Sieci” jest rama konfliktu (wewnętrznego), która pojawiła się w nim 18 razy. W przypadku „Przeglądu” dominowała rama odpowiedzialności, która wystąpiła 7 razy. 2. Ramy medialne, stanowiące element medialnego dyskursu, pozwalają na śledzenie przebiegu debaty migracyjnej. 3. Stosowanie określonych ram ujawnia sympatie polityczne mediów, a także propagowane przez nie wartości. Wartością poznawczą tekstu jest obserwacja korelacji mediów i migracji w kontekście niedawnych wydarzeń na polsko- białoruskiej granicy. Artykuł stanowi zarazem ograniczony wkład w dyskusję na temat wymienionych zjawisk, będących częścią problemów globalnych.
The study conducted is a comparison of two media representations during the so-called migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. The purpose of the article is to find answers to the following research questions. What media frames dominated from mid-August to November 2021 in the two weekly opinion magazines – the conservative "Sieci" ("Network") and the left-wing "Przegląd" ("Review")? Can we follow the course of the debate on the "migration crisis" and the formation of the media discourse through media frames? Does the use of specific frames reflect the ideological profile of the studied media and reveal their political sentiments? The research method used is frame analysis, which is a component of content analysis. A total of 65 journalistic texts were examined. The analysis led to the following conclusions: 1. The dominant frame in the weekly "Sieci" is the frame of conflict (internal), which appeared 18 times. In the case of "Przegląd", the dominant frame was responsibility, which occurred 7 times. 2. Media frames, as part of media discourse, make it possible to follow the migration debate. 3. The use of specific frames reveals the political sympathies of the media, as well as the values they promote. The research value of the text is the observation of the correlation of media and migration in the context of recent events on the Polish-Belarusian border. At the same time, the article makes a limited contribution to the discussion of these global problems.

Opis:: J-PET analysis framework is a flexible, lightweight, ROOT-based software package which provides the tools to develop reconstruction and calibration procedures for PET tomography. In this article we present the implementation of the full data-processing chain in the J-PET framework which is used for the data analysis of the J-PET tomography scanner. The framework incorporates automated handling of PET setup parameters' database as well as high level tools for building data reconstruction procedures. Each of these components is briefly discussed.

Opis:: Maritime activity around the globe currently generates a great amount of translation work, especially from English into other languages. This paper focuses on the analysis of the translation process in maritime legal and administrative documents. The study first establishes which maritime documents are most often translated and a tool is then developed to analyse such documents in detail, based on the concept of textual genre. Such analysis would help translators to better understand these highly specialised documents and thus contribute towards improving translation of the same.

Opis:: Research background: International market selection is an essential issue for big companies that supply food products. Different types of decision factors and different characteristics of different international markets have brought up a complicated decision-making problem for food supply companies. In order to select the most suitable and profitable market, food supply companies have to consider several qualitative and quantitative factors, including social, political, economic, and ecological aspects. Purpose of the article: In order to overcome international market selection issues, the current study develops a novel integrated decision-making tool. Methods: A novel decision-making model of market analysis is developed as an extended model of Market Attractiveness and Business Attractiveness (MABA) analysis based on the Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM). To improve the MABA analysis model, we combine the EDAS method with MABA analysis to empower decision-makers in food supply companies to evaluate several international markets and select the most profitable market for their products. Findings & value added: In this study, we first identified the most important and frequently used decision factors for market analysis problems within MABA analysis under two categories: market attractiveness and business attractiveness. To show the proposed methodology's applicability and feasibility, we perform a case study for a food supply company in Iran that supplies products to Middle East and Asian countries. In order to investigate the reliability of the obtained results, we perform a sensitivity analysis concerning the importance of involved decision factors. The proposed decision-making tool results suggest that the model can be used as a reliable tool for market analysis problems. To sum up the long-term value of the study, we have developed a novel decision-making tool using MABA analysis and the EDAS method. No study integrates any MCDM methods with MABA analysis to the best of our knowledge. Integration of EDAS method with MABA analysis empowers decision-makers in market selection division to use more systematic methods for evaluating several markets.

Opis:: This paper analyses the broadcasting of unprecedented news about Pope Benedict XVI abdication by ‘Fakty’, the main news service of the most popular Polish commercial TV channel - TVN. ‘Papal news’ in this case can be regarded as a typical developing news story, pursued for over a month. The article examines in detail news broadcast between February 11 and March 13, 2013, with particular reference to: Vatican exhibition themes in services, duration of news about the Pope, content of verbal and iconic aspect, selection of the experts and behaviour of journalists both in the studio and in the centre of events. Although the presentation of the Pope’s abdication could be framed and understood as a specific type of religious and political media event (and was framed as such especially by two competing stations: TVP1 and TVN), framework analysis has shown that in the case of “papal news” it was extremely difficult for commercial TV channel to employ the usual methods of framing: e.g. framing primarily as a conflict, but also as human story, due to its consequences and moral questions involved.

Opis:: Virtual Reality (VR) is a valuable tool for learning, however, there is a lack of education-focused content for language learning needs. This article introduces the VR Application Analysis Framework (Lege, Bonner, Frazier, & Pascucci, 2020) to assist educators in scaffolding existing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications for use in classroom activities through four key lenses: immersive capacity, cognitive load, purpose, and communicative capability. The framework is then used to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of an example COTS VR application, Tilt Brush. This analysis, completed using the framework, is followed by three lesson plans for Tilt Brush that demonstrate how VR could be used in the language classroom.

Opis:: We propose a framework that extends the one developed by Professor Amartya Sen (with Arrowian roots), for the analysis of choice under risk by an individual, hereafter referred to as a decision maker. The framework is based on the decision maker’s state dependent numerical evaluations − referred to as utility, worth, or pay-off − of the alternatives. We provide several examples to illustrate meaningful possibilities in the model proposed here. The expected utility choice functional assigns to each given state- -dependent data profile (i.e., a pair consisting of a profile of state-dependent evaluation functions and a probability distribution over states of nature) the non-empty set of alternatives obtained by maximizing expected utility. A significant result in this paper, which illustrates the workability of our frameworks of analysis, is an axiomatic characterization of the expected utility choice functional using purely combinatorial techniques. Aim/Purpose: To use a minor extension of the Arrow-Sen model of social choice theory to study individual decision making/aiding under risk and with state dependent evaluation functions. Methodology: Combinatorics (theory of finite sets). Findings: Plausible decision-aids for decision making under uncertainty with state dependent evaluation functions. Research Implications: Exactly same model and results apply for the study of “weighted” multi-criteria decision making/aiding with state dependent evaluation functions. Contribution: Apart from useful decision-aids for managerial decision making under risk and operations research, we provide an axiomatic characterization of the expected utility choice functional.

Opis:: In this paper, the usage of the GStreamer framework in applications of classical digital signal processing is discussed. Especially, its adaptation for the sonar technique is presented. Signal generation, analysis, processing, and visualization are implemented as GStreamer plugins. The new plugins and the structure of data transmitted through a GStreamer pipeline are briefly discussed. The introduced plugins are published as free software under the GROJ project.

Opis:: In this paper we present a simulation framework to account for the Schottky barrier lowering models in SBMOSFETs within the Synopsys TCAD Sentaurus tool-chain. The improved Schottky barrier lowering model for field emission is considered. A strategy to extract the different current components and thus accurately predict the on- and off-current regions are adressed. Detailed investigations of these components are presented along with an improved Schottky barrier lowering model for field emission. Finally, a comparison for the transfer characteristics is shown for simulation and experimental data.
