This paper studies the ex-post trade efects of China's multilateral, regional and bilateral trade liberalization using augmented gravity and panel data estimation methods for the period 1995-2016. China's accession to the WTO was revealed to have had a significant impact on the volume of trade as well as on bilateral exports and imports. Regional trade agreements and the majority of bilateral trade agreements were found not to be efective in increasing China's foreign trade. Only the agreements with Chile, Costa Rica and Switzerland were efective in increasing China's trade volume. Moreover, the results for Chile were driven by increases in both exports and imports, while for Costa Rica and Switzerland only by increased imports from these countries.

In this research work, Author focus on the current analysis trends in foreign trade theory and policy. Accordance with the foreign trade policy theory further trade liberalisation and improved framework policies would increase trade and promote growth. It must be emphasized that openness to trade is associated with higher incomes and growth and there is the need for new approaches to trade cooperation in light of the forces that are currently re-shaping international business. What indicates the importance and innovativeness of the research is the presentation of the new models of the foreign trade policy and trade interests. First of all, it must underline that in the new theoretical terms in demand for trade policy very important is factor specificity. The low specificity of factors means that factor returns are equalized throughout a region’s economy. On the other hand, some factors are stuck in their present uses; therefore, factor returns are not equalized throughout a region’s economy but are industry specific. The main objective of the research task is to give a comprehensive analysis of current trends in foreign trade theory and policy and in particular models of foreign trade policy, trade interests indicated by export orientation and import sensitivity, foreign trade policy in different types of authoritarian regimes, protectionist pressures in different political system, the level of protectionist pressures, the tendencies to bilateralism in the foreign trade policy. It should be stressed that free trade in itself is not responsible for economic growth, but more significant are the determining macroeconomic stability and increasing investment.

Opis:
Poland is one of the largest global producers and particularly exporters of apples. The export is of great importance to domestic producers of these fruits. The objective of the article was to assess Poland’s competitiveness in world trade in apples in the years 2003–2013. In connection with that, in an innovative way ten mutually complementary indices of ex-post competitiveness have been calculated for Poland and analysed. The study presents ranges in which the values of particular indices of competitiveness may be comprised. It also explains the impact which re-export may have on the levels of some of these indices, making it difficult for their correct interpretation. The studies have demonstrated that in the analysed period, Poland was characterised by high and growing competitiveness in foreign trade in apples, particularly in the years 2012–2013.

In this research work, the author focuses on the analysis of the problem of specificity the regulatory protectionism in contemporary foreign trade policy. It has been emphasized that the talks between EU and USA will make reducing regulatory barriers. New agreements to remove trade barriers aim at reducing dead-weight costs and at increasing net social gains from international trade. The article examined the impact of investor-state dispute resolution mechanisms in reducing the power of national governments to regulate and elimination of market inequality. The article offers examples of successful regulatory cooperation efforts in the hope that it will shed light on possible approaches to addressing regulatory divergences. Ideally, the best way to address problems arising from regulatory divergence would be on a multilateral basis. The main aim of the article is the presentation of the specificity of the regulatory protectionism in contemporary foreign trade policy.

Autor w pierwszej części artykułu przedstawia wartość obrotów towarowych handlu zagranicznego Polski, w latach 2007-2016, wskazując, że do 2014 roku import przewyższał eksport. W następnej części artykułu wskazano 30 najważniejszych partnerów handlowych, uwypuklając znaczenie państw należących do Unii Europejskiej, a szczególnie Niemiec.
In the first part of the article, the author discusses the value of Poland’s foreign trade in the years 2007-2016, indicating that by 2014 import exceeded export. In the second part of the article, the author analyzes the turnover of Poland’s foreign trade with thirty of the most important partners, paying particular attention to Germany – the most important partner. Poland, however, notes the most significant deficit in foreign trade with China.

When proceeding to conclude a contract trading partners usually hope that their Joint agreement will be executed without any major disturbances and both sides will be - fully satisfied. In practice, however, disputes between the sides to a contract often arise. It is only a relatively small group of causes that contains an elenent of forco majeure in it, that is to say their occurrence does not depend on man's will to any extent whatsoever, while all the others result generally from negligence, recklessness, or human fallibility. This group of causes was submitted to a more detailed analysis. Thus, for example, at the stage of preparing and negotiating a contract it may happen that an incomplete offer has been submitted, the quality of goods has not been negotiated precisely, or an error has been made in the content of a contract or in the form of an arbitration clause contained in it. More various errors could be distinguished at the stage of a direct execution of a trade agreement, e.g. a failure to send a shipping Instruction on time, typing errors, unpunctual payments, wrong packaging of goods and others. This article does not list, of course, all causes of disputes in foreign trade, still it is based on an analysis of a number of controversial situations, which made their way to the Board of Arbitrators attached to the Polish Chamber of Foreign Trade in the 70 s and the 80 s.

The aim of the article is to identify the impact of foreign trade with wine for the wine market in the Slovak Republic and identify the trends of its development. Slovakia is among the small wine producers. Wine areas are constantly reducing and wine consumption of the population of the Slovak Republic is not covered. The negotiation process has granted a quota allocated to Slovakia cultivable area of 22 000 hectares of vineyards. At present it is not filled, and Slovakia is not self-sufficient in wine production. Producers are aiming for the production of quality wines and demand for cheaper table wines is covered by import. From the analysis of wine import in the Slovak Republic, we notice that the wine import, is currently dominated by the growing tendency to import wines and sparkling wines in small packages (up to 2 l). The export of wine is currently focused on the export of wine in larger packages (over 2 l) in Slovakia. To assess the competitiveness of Slovak producers of wines in foreign markets are used the factors of comparative advantage and export-import coverage ratio.
Celem artykułu było określenie wpływu handlu zagranicznego winem na Słowacji i wskazanie tendencji rozwojowych. Słowacja jest małym producentem wina. Obszar winnic zmniejsza się systematycznie, a zapotrzebowanie ze strony ludności Słowacji jest większe niż produkcja. Unia Europejska przyznała Słowacji dotację dla winnic na obszarze 22 000 ha. Do tej pory Słowacja nie była w stanie wykorzystać przyznanych kwot ze względu na mniejszą produkcję wina. Producenci są nastawieni na produkcję win wysokiej jakości, a wina stołowe są importowane. Z analizy importu wina do Słowacji wynika, że obecnie przeważa tendencja sprowadzania win w małych opakowaniach (do 2 l). Z kolei eksport jest nastawiony na wysyłanie win w większych opakowaniach (powyżej 2 l). Do oceny konkurencyjności słowackich producentów wina na rynkach zagranicznych zastosowano czynniki przewagi konkurencyjnej oraz miernik pokrycia eksportu i importu.
