    The COVID-19 pandemic is a global one, but the effect is different for each country and society and has different dimensions. The study investigated couple relationships during the first lockdown (also called emergency state) in Poland (N = 235) and Japan (N = 420). Based on a quantitative survey, it focuses on socio-economic issues and related concerns. The survey inquired opinions about changes in the depth of the relationships, attitude to the partner, and frequency of arguments during the lockdown. From among Polish and Japanese respondents, more than 60% declared that their current partner is the best one for the isolation. Both Japanese and Polish males seem to be more satisfied with their spouses than the female partners. The results indicate that there is a need to make more detailed cross-country comparisons in terms of the functioning of relationships during lockdown and isolation. The observations made imply that there are areas to investigate more in-depth. A follow-up survey is needed to understand whether the issues in intimate relationships will be long-term ones or whether we see them only during the pandemic. The questionnaire domains: changes in the depth of relationships, attitude to the partner and frequencyof arguments during the lockdown. Method: quantitative research, survey, online questionnaire, voluntary participants collected by social media.

    Borders’ closure during the COVID-19 pandemic had a particular impact on the everyday life of borderland residents. As part of the research on bordering processes carried out since a few years, during the closure of the state borders in 2020, qualitative interviews on everyday life in the COVID-19 pandemic have been conducted. In this paper, we present the results of the exploratory study on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Polish-German border twin cities. We indicate at what levels borders’ closure affected the border landscape, border practices of the inhabitants of the researched territories, and their notion of the border. We also suggest how border relations were shaped due to differences in the management and perception of the pandemic situation in two countries. The results obtained indicate that the closure of borders has made life more difficult in an area under examination and has also affected the identity and specificity of the place. This issue is worth exploring further to establish the true extent of the impact of the pandemic in the borderlands.

    Pandemia COVID-19 spowodowała, że od 25 marca 2020 r. do końca roku szkolnego w ramach dystansowania społecznego w polskich szkołach po raz pierwszy prowadzono edukację zdalną. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badania, które miało na celu poznanie skali doświadczania przez młodzież różnego rodzaju krzywdzenia w tym okresie. Dodatkowo poruszono temat dobrostanu młodzieży, samopoczucia, zadowolenia z życia, wsparcia społecznego oraz podejmowania zachowań autodestrukcyjnych.
    As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, from March 25, 2020 to the end of the school year, as part of social distancing, distance education was conducted in Polish schools for the first time. The article presents the results of a study aimed at understanding the scale of experiencing various types of abuse by adolescents during this period. Additionally, the topic of youth well-being, life satisfaction, social support and self-destructive behavior was discussed.

    This text presents an overview of articles in selected peer-reviewed journals of social work containing original reflections and the results of research on its problems during the COVID-19 pandemic which have been published during a period of first five months after its announcement by WHO. The review includes the characteristics of specific difficulties in social work caused by the pandemic, the first reactions to overcome them and considerations on the need to strengthen the role of social work in political strategies to respond to social crises.
