    The aim of this article is to analyze the contexts of teaching in the film „Suicide room”. At the outset they presented examples of the role of film in education. Subsequently was presented story of the film. An essential part of the article states while presenting the meanings of pedagogy we could see in the film. First of all, „Suicide Room” is a film whose story is firmly anchored in the contemporary world entangled in the net, with particular emphasis on two phenomena: cyberbullying and addiction to the virtual world. The film Suicide Room is also an interesting picture of the family. Also in the subjective reception, it is a film about loneliness and lost in the harsh reality of the modern world. This is an interesting picture being a prelude to multi-context discussion of the condition of individuals, families and generations living in the postmodern society.

    Celem tekstu jest namysł nad sposobami opowiadania w filmie dokumentalnym o duchowym wymiarze twórczości poetyckiej w celu wykorzystania wskazanego filmu na zajęciach edukacyjnych. Materiałem badawczym jest esej audiowizualny Herbert. Fresk w kościele Piotra Załuskiego (ur. 1945) z lat 2005–2006, o twórczości Zbigniewa Herberta (1924–1998). Narzędzia metodologiczne, które umożliwiają tego typu poszukiwania, a następnie są pomocne przy analizie postawionego problemu badawczego, wywodzą się z tradycji semiotyki oraz badań porównawczych. Komparatystyczne analizy, związane z opisem mechanizmów adaptacyjnych: literatura a film, siłą rzeczy znajdują się na pierwszym planie.
    The aim of the text is a reflection on the methods of storytelling in the documentary film about the spiritual dimension of poetry in order to use the indicated film in educational classes. The example is film made by Piotr Załuski, Herbert. Fresco in the church (2005–2006) about Zbigniew Herbert (1924–1998). The methodological tools are semiotics and comparative research. The methodological tools that enable this type of investigation, and are then helpful in the analysis of the research problem posed, are derived from the tradition of semiotics and comparative research. Comparative analyses related to the description of adaptive mechanisms: literature and film, are necessarily in the foreground.

    Development of cinema opened up new prospects for the education process. The film has enabled a new way of presentation of various issues to students, supplementing traditional forms of information transmission. It should be noted, however, that the number of film productions have a purely entertaining asset, free of educational value. Consequently, the use of multimedia in education is sometimes seen as a manifestation of confusion between education and entertainment. The result of this process is the so-called edutainment. It is interesting, therefore, to present the possibilities of use the film in the process of building young people identity and value system. The paper presents Polish initiatives of the film education and their role in creating contemporary educational environment.

    Autorka podejmuje namysł nad miejscem edukacji filmowej w szerszym kontekście teoretycznym, odwołując się do koncepcji pedagogiki sytuacjonistycznej Tadeusza Sławka oraz osadzając ją w ramach nowej humanistyki. Jako studium przypadku omawia i analizuje wybrane działania z 35-letniej historii Centralnego Gabinetu Edukacji Filmowej. Komentarze do pomysłów Gabinetu autorka odnosi do europejskich strategii edukacji filmowej: wypracowanych przez British Film Institute oraz funkcjonujących we Francji. W zakończeniu artykułu zostało sformułowanych pięć celów edukacji filmowej, które łączyłyby projekty z tego obszaru z kształceniem humanistycznym.
    The author reflects on the place of film education in a broader theoretical context, applying the concept of situationist pedagogy proposed by Tadeusz Sławek and the framework of new humanities. As a case study, the author discusses and analyzes selected activities of Centralny Gabinet Edukacji Filmowej (Central Studio of Film Education), whose 35-year history has not yet been the object of an in-depth study. The author comments on the Studio’s ideas, relating them to some European strategies of film education, namely those established by the British Film Institute and those at work in France. In the conclusion, the author proposes five aims of film education that would link its programmes to humanities education.

    The author of the article analyses the current situation of the film and other media in the contemporary core curriculum of public education. The definition of film education, established in the document, is presented on the basis of the qualitative and quantitative analysis. The author uses a broad perspective in order to provide the reader with a comprehensible description that includes various aspects of the current situation. The article begins with the analysis of the core curriculum for lower primary schools and moves on to the upper primary schools focusing on the details of teaching Polish. Then, the author concentrates on the core curriculum for high schools and art classes for all levels showing that the established model of film education is scattered and chaotic. It seems more of a case of an incidental arrangement rather than a deliberate and thought-out planning as there is no proper project of film education as a school subject. That is why, the author of the article uses the term elusive when referring to film education. Another reason for that is the fact that film education as a subject focuses on the usage of ICT. However, media literacy and film education should be perceived as components of cultural education. Films should be discussed and analyzed in a similar way to literature.

    This paper explores how through narrative pedagogies inspired simultaneously by divine pedagogy revealed in Scripture and the power of modern media to visually represent the human heart’s most profound longings, divine revelation can, through Catholic Religious Education (CRE), reach and transform adolescent hearts. Such a transformation is made possible through adolescents’ expression of transcendence in a communal context that is facilitated when metaphor’s power in helping adolescents tell stories about themselves is unlocked through photography and film. These media teach young people use their capacity for imagination and critical thinking more effectively and produce narratives of self through which they narrate who they are and would like to be. Such media impact identity through the process of merging words, imagery, music and movement, and can be so dynamic and effective in representing self. CRE can thus enable young people to become critical, even of their own past experiences, make them more integrated and coherent, empower them to meet life’s challenges, and afford them the opportunity to project their lives in the future as they wish them to be. All throughout such a process, adolescents learn more what God’s revelation entails and its potential to make human life more beautiful and meaningful.

    In the early stages of the film (pre-cinematography), during the technological development of the kinescope (1865), or the moving photos, and later the flash photography (1873), the first attempts to record motion (biomechanics) appeared. The flash photography of the later period (proto-film) was replaced by the synthesis of motion (1878) when the social-cultural background also appeared on the moving photos, mainly focusing on selected themes reflect-ing the sports body and physicality in relation to the contemporary social atmosphere. The presented text selectively describes the development of body and body imaging in a limited period influenced by political-ideological mechanisms. However, it also functions as a factor that can influence society and bring about change. The documentary film cannot be unambig-uously described as propaganda. The sport was not depicted solely from the perspective of the ideology of that time. But above all, mass exercises demonstrated the national community and state ideology.
    We wczesnych czasach filmu (prekinematografia), w trakcie technologicznego rozwoju ki-neskopu (1865), ruchomych zdjęć, a później fotografii błyskowej (1873) pojawiły się pierw-sze próby zarejestrowania ruchu (biomechaniki). Fotografię z użyciem lampy błyskowej póź-niejszego okresu (protofilm) zastąpiono syntezą ruchu (1878), gdy tło społeczno-kulturowe pojawiło się również na ruchomych klatkach zdjęciowych, skupiając się głównie na wybra-nych tematach obrazujących cielesność sportu i fizyczności w relacji do ówczesnej atmosfery społecznej. Przedstawiony tekst selektywnie opisuje rozwój ciała i obrazowania ciała w ogra-niczonym okresie, na który wpływ mają mechanizmy polityczno-ideologiczne. Aczkolwiek funkcjonuje również jako czynnik, który może wpływać na społeczeństwo i powodować zmiany, filmu dokumentalnego nie można jednoznacznie kojarzyć z propagandą. Sport nie został przedstawiony wyłącznie z perspektywy ówczesnej ideologii, masowe ćwiczenia przede wszystkim pokazywały narodową wspólnotę i ideologię państwową.

    In the mid-1950s, film sealed its place in the world of art with the voice of essentialist theories. At the same time, it did not give up its status as mass entertainment, which it had acquired at the beginning of cinematography’s development. Over the years, it has also developed its position as an educational medium, and its importance and impact on culture created the need for film studies. And although knowledge of film and cinematography is being introduced to school curricula, not only in Poland, the negative view that film is purely for entertainment purposes still prevails. Focusing on the subject outlined, the article refers to the results of research on film knowledge among children and young people, and on the cultural choices (using data on film choices) of parents and caregivers, to analyze the place and role of film in children’s and young people’s development.
    Film w połowie lat pięćdziesiątych XX wieku głosem esencjalistycznych teorii filmowych przypieczętował swą przynależność do świata sztuki. Jednocześnie nie zrezygnował z, istniejącej od początku swego rozwoju, etykiety rozrywki dla mas. Na przestrzeni lat wypracował sobie również statut medium edukacyjnego, a jego znaczenie i wpływ na kulturę stworzyły potrzebę edukacji filmowej. I choć wiedza o filmie i kinematografii wprowadzana jest do programów nauczania w szkołach nie tylko w Polsce, nadal pokutuje nacechowane pejoratywnie przekonanie o wyłącznie rozrywkowym charakterze sztuki filmowej. Artykuł koncentrując się na nakreślonej tematyce, odwołuje się do wyników badań dotyczących wiedzy o filmie wśród dzieci i młodzieży oraz wyborów kulturalnych (wykorzystując dane dotyczące wyborów filmowych) opiekunów dzieci w celu analizy miejsca i roli filmu w rozwoju dzieci i młodzieży.

    The paper deals with homosexuality and the ways it is viewed in society. It focuses on some aspects that accompany homosexual people’s social functioning, such as stereotypes, discrimination, and homophobia. In Poland, as well as in other countries, there exists the problem of discrimination against homosexuals, which results in serious difficulties gay people have to overcome in their everyday life. Since it is mainly from the lack of knowledge that discrimination or homophobia often stem, education might be the key solution. The educational idea this paper puts forward is based on anti-discrimination efforts that promote education through films. The cinematic works chosen for this purpose, Milk, Brokeback Mountain and A Single Man, can help to understand the social aspects of discrimination and homophobia, as well as the psychological consequences suffered by those discriminated against. Still, a screening of films is not sufficient for the accomplishment of this goal; it should be complemented with an after-film discussion that would increase a person’s awareness of differences and various points of view, encouraging them to refresh their own beliefs. Such actions may create an opportunity for the participants and thus result in the change of their attitude.

    „Wielka wyprawa Molly” jest idealnym przykładem przygotowania przedszkolnej widowni do otwartości i szacunku dla odmienności, tolerancji, dialogu i słuchania, współpracy, wspólnego podejmowania decyzji oraz mądrej akceptacji zmian. Film, który pokazuje, jak główna bohaterka filmu, Molly Potworowska, niecierpliwie i z radością oczekuje dużej zmiany w życiu swojej rodziny – narodzin siostrzyczki lub braciszka, a także podkreśla znaczenie więzi rodzinnych, może zatem inspirować do przyjmowania zmian i adaptowania się do nowych sytuacji. Ponadto w filmie zaprezentowano krainę, w której każdy mieszkaniec jest inny – bardzo różnią się wielkością czy wyglądem fizycznym, a opowiedziana w nim historia uczy, że inność nie przeszkadza we współpracy, wzajemnym pomaganiu sobie czy podejmowaniu wspólnych decyzji i działań. „Wielka wyprawa Molly” prezentuje nadto otwarte podejście do tradycyjnych ról społecznych, podkreśla rolę wiary we własne możliwości, ale także znaczenie przyznania się do popełnionego błędu oraz wolności w podejmowaniu decyzji.
    "Molly Monster" is a perfect example of preparing the preschool audience for openness and respect for difference, tolerance, dialogue and listening, cooperation, joint decision making and wise acceptance of change. The film, showing how the main character, Molly, eagerly and joyfully awaits a big change in her family life - the birth of a sister or a brother, and emphasizes the importance of family ties, can therefore inspire to accept changes and adapt to new situations. In addition, the film presents a land where every inhabitant is very different - in size or physical appearance, and the story teaches that being different does not disturb cooperation, mutual help or making joint decisions and taking actions. The film presents an open approach to traditional social roles, emphasizes the role of self-confidence, but also the importance of admitting one's mistake and freedom in decision making.

    This paper is devoted to two selected teacher figures appearing in American film. John Keating (Dead Poets Society) and Terence Fletcher (Whiplash) are going to be analyzed with regard to their beliefs, their methods, and their impact on students. The introduction refers to the prevailing cinematic image of teachers as heroes who inspire and support their students. Another feature common for many onscreen teachers, including Keating and Fletcher, is their being based on real-life figures. The first section describes Keating’s and Fletcher’s beliefs influencing their work. Keating believes his role is to build students’ confidence, make them feel they can change the world, and convince them they should seize the opportunities life provides them with. Fletcher is in favor of the view that students should not be praised, but pushed to their limits for the sake of results. The next part deals with the differences in Keating’s and Fletcher’s methodologies. Keating aims at replacing a traditional approach to education with demonstration and involving students in practical activities. For Fletcher, maintaining a sense of threat in his students is the key to motivating them. Finally, the analysis turns to Keating’s and Fletcher’s impact on their students. Keating’s teaching makes his students pursue new interests or manage their personal matters effectively. Fletcher’s influence is best reflected by his students’ anxiety, exhaustion, and – in some cases – the increased drive to practice.

    Celem artykułu jest ocena — z punktu widzenia edukacji historyczno-krajoznawczej i kulturalnej — wartości czterech książek Zbigniewa Nienackiego Pan Samochodzik i tajemnica tajemnic, Pan Samochodzik i Fantomas, Pierwsza przygoda Pana Samochodzika (Pozwolenie na przywóz lwa), Pan Samochodzik i człowiek z UFO. Autor bada też recepcję czytelniczą i filmową tych powieści, a także ich dostępność w postaci cyfrowej. Wyjaśnia te zagadnienia na podstawie kwerendy źródłowej (analizy twórczości Z. Nienackiego) oraz innych źródeł drukowanych i internetowych. Wstępne tezy sprowadzają się do poglądu o dużej wartości edukacyjnej utworów pisarza oraz ich stałym funkcjonowaniu w obiegu czytelniczym. Spostrzeżenia te mają potwierdzenie we wnioskach, zaprezentowanych w końcowej części artykułu.
    The subject of the article are Zbigniew Nienacki’s novels from the Pan Samochodzik series, concerning the protagonis’s foreign adventures: Pan Samochodzik i tajemnica tajemnic [Pan Samochodzik and the Secret of Secrets], Pan Samochodzik i Fantomas [Pan Samochodzik and Fantomas], Pierwsza przygoda Pana Samochodzika (Pozwolenie na przywóz lwa) [Pan Samochodzik’s First Adventure (Lion Import Permission)], Pan Samochodzik i człowiek z UFO [Pan Samochodzik and the Man from the UFO]. The research question concerns the value of these books from the point of view of historical, tourist and cultural education. The article also deals with the readership and film reception of Nienacki’s books and the issue of their digital availability. The author assumes that the educational value of these novels is high. The second thesis argued in the text is the belief that the readers are still interested in the writer’s books and that these are available in digital versions.

    Background. The objective of this research was to assess the efficacy of bowel preparation (BP) and colonoscopy compliance of video training given to patients prior to colonoscopy. Material and methods. In this single-blind randomized controlled study, patients in the control group received traditional written instructions with the same content as oral instructions. A total of 139 patients were included in the study, 70 of whom were allocated to the video education group, and 69 to the traditional education group. After the procedure, both groups’ BP quality and satisfaction with education were measured. Sociodemographic Characteristics Form, Boston Bowel Preparation Scale, Colonoscopy Preparation Compliance Form, and Education Satisfaction Form were used in the study. Results. The BP quality scores of the patients in the video group were found to be higher than the traditional method (p<0.05). In addition, it was found that the educational satisfaction scores, general BP compliance score, solid diet compliance scores, and liquid diet compliance scores were higher in the video group than in the traditional method patients (p<0.05). Conclusions. Video-based colonoscopy preparation training is an effective alternative to traditional methods.
    Wprowadzenie. Celem niniejszego badania była ocena skuteczności filmu edukacyjnego na temat przygotowania jelit do badania, zaprezentowanego pacjentom przed kolonoskopią. Materiał i metody. W tym randomizowanym, kontrolowanym badaniu z pojedynczą ślepą próbą, pacjenci w grupie kontrolnej otrzymywali tradycyjne pisemne instrukcje o takiej samej treści jak instrukcje ustne. Do badania włączono łącznie 139 pacjentów, spośród których 70 przydzielono do grupy objętej edukacją z wykorzystaniem filmu, a 69 do grupy z edukacją tradycyjną. Po zabiegu w obu grupach mierzono jakość przygotowania jelit i zadowolenie z edukacji. W badaniu wykorzystano Formularz Charakterystyki Socjodemograficznej, Skalę Boston, Formularz Przestrzegania Zaleceń Przygotowania do Kolonoskopii oraz Formularz Satysfakcji z Edukacji. Wyniki. Stwierdzono, że wyniki dotyczące jakości przygotowania jelit u pacjentów w grupie objętej edukacją z wykorzystaniem filmu były wyższe niż w przypadku metody tradycyjnej (p<0,05). Ponadto stwierdzono, że wyniki satysfakcji z edukacji, ogólny wynik przestrzegania zaleceń przygotowania jelit, wyniki przestrzegania diety stałej i wyniki przestrzegania diety płynnej były wyższe w grupie z wykorzystaniem filmu niż u pacjentów stosujących metodę tradycyjną (p<0,05). Wnioski. Szkolenie w zakresie przygotowania do kolonoskopii oparte na filmie stanowi skuteczną alternatywę dla tradycyjnych metod.

    Jednym z wielu obrazów współczesności jest wzajemne funkcjonowanie osób reprezentujących odmienne kultury, narodowość, rasę czy religię. To sprawia, że w poszczególnych społecznościach pojawia się szereg nieporozumień czy konfliktów, powodowanych brakiem wiedzy o wzajemnej kulturze. Rysująca się coraz powszechniej odmienność we współczesnych społeczeństwach generując wielorakie obawy i lęk uniemożliwia zachowanie poczucia bezpieczeństwa. Tymczasem odmienność/różnorodność kulturowa, etniczna, narodowa winna być postrzegana jako wspólne dobro służące budującym się wspólnotom. Tym samym ujawnia się brak świadomości, że odmienność kulturowa to wartość, swoiste bogactwo warunkujące szerokie możliwości holistycznego rozwoju, a nie zagrożenie tożsamości czy wolności. By stan taki osiągną potrzeba świadomości i wiedzy. Niniejszy tekst jest zatem próbą zainteresowania społeczeństwa przedmiotowym zagadnieniem, które można oswoić i rozwinąć dzięki edukacji międzykulturowej, która może przybrać różne formy edukacji, także poprzez poszczególne dziedziny sztuki, takie jak teatr czy film. Wspomniane dziedziny sztuki stanowią nie tylko pole edukacji, poznania różnorodności, ale są narzędziem kształtowania postaw, zainteresowań, wyrażania emocji czy modelowania sposobu myślenia o odmienności. Propozycje konkretnych (wybranych) spektakli czy filmów, oparto zasadniczo na pełnym przekonaniu, że sztuka stanowi nie tylko wartość autoteliczną, artystyczną, ale jest narzędziem formującym kierunek myślenia w określonym zakresie.
    One of many modern images is the mutual functioning of people who represent different cultures, nationality, race, and religion. This causes a number of misunderstandings or conflicts in individual communities, motivated by a lack of knowledge about each other’s culture. The increasingly common dissimilarity in modern societies, generating multiple fears and anxieties, makes it impossible to maintain a sense of security. Meanwhile, variety - cultural, ethnic, national diversity - should be seen as a common good for building communities. Thus, there is a lack of awareness that cultural diversity is a value, a specific richness that determines the broad possibilities of holistic development rather than a threat to identity or freedom. In order to achieve this, awareness and knowledge are needed. This text is therefore an attempt to interest the society in the subject matter, which can be tamed and developed through intercultural education, which can take various forms, including specific fields of art, such as theater or film. These art fields are not only a field of education, learning about diversity, but they are a tool for shaping attitudes, interests, expressing emotions, modelling the way of thinking about diversity. The suggested (selected) performances or films are mostly based on the full conviction that art is not only an autotelic and artistic value, but is a tool that shapes the direction of thinking within a certain range.

W artykule omówiono, na podstawie analizy treści książek Z. Nienackiego oraz kwerendy prasowej i internetowej, wartość tych publikacji w edukacji historyczno-krajoznawczej i kulturalnej, przybliżono także kwestie recepcji czytelniczej, adaptacji filmowych oraz ich odbioru, poruszono zagadnienia dostępności i popularności powieści na nośnikach cyfrowych. Efektem analizy materiału badawczego jest potwierdzenie słuszności wstępnych tez o dużej wartości edukacyjnej oraz stałej poczytności powieści o Panu Samochodziku, a także niegasnącej popularności serialu Samochodzik i templariusze.
    Zbigniew Nienacki (1929—1994) was a very popular writer in the period of the People’s Republic of Poland. What made him a household name then was a series of novels featuring as the main character Pan Samochodzik (‘Mr. Automobile’). The article discusses — based on the content of the said novels and thorough research of the press and internet sources — the value of those books in terms of historical-tourist and cultural education. Also, their reception among readers and viewership of film adaptations were analysed, along with the novels’ availability and popularity in different forms of digital media. The result of such analysis of the said material supports the preliminary thesis of a considerable educational value of the Pan Samochodzik novels and their wide readership, which goes hand in hand with the sustained popularity of a television series Samochodzik i templariusze.

Autor kreśli obraz twórczości w tej dziedzinie, rozpatrując jej osiągnięcia na historycznym tle niepowtarzalnego zjawiska kulturowego, jakim była i jest znana na całym świecie tzw. polska szkoła animacji. Mając świadomość, że nowe pokolenia twórców zarówno kontynuują jej tradycje, jak i wchodzą z nią w polemiczny dyskurs, autor punktuje kluczową dla wartości szkoły rolę cenionej na świecie edukacji filmowej, wskazując równocześnie intensywną feminizację polskiej animacji ostatnich dekad jako jej cechę wyróżniającą.
    The socio-political and economic transformations initiated in 1989 caused a severe crisis in the Polish animated film of the 1990s. After a period of stagnation, the first decades of the new century brought a significant revival of Polish artistic animation. The author presents the works of Polish artistic animation and examines its achievements against the historical background of the “Polish school of animation”, which has always been a world-famous, unique cultural phenomenon. Aware of the fact that new generations of artists both continue this tradition, as well as engage with it polemically, the author emphasizes the role of internationally renowned film education, which is crucial to the transfer of the school’s values. At the same time, he indicates that, in recent decades, a distinctive feature of Polish animation has been its intense feminisation.
