Opis:
This paper aims to investigate the ways in which parents relate to the emotional and sexual lives of their adolescent children, considering the changes that occurred in the configuration of current families, at both the relational and structural level. Of these two levels, the former considers the quality of relations among family members, while the latter refers to the new family forms currently appearing within the social scenario, disarranging the traditional way of thinking about the family and originating new ways of conceiving the roles of male and female, being together, the idea of couple and – last but not least – sexuality and the various ways of living and experiencing it. The idea is to test whether the new family configurations show different ways, compared to the traditional family, in considering children’s education and managing aspects related to this stage of life. We focus here on same-sex families, with the aim of understanding the complexities determined in this specific family environment – which in many respects is still not fully recognized in Italy. The article in the end points out the theoretical and methodological challenges that will have to be tackled in future; and relatively, it points out a research, which aims to explore the socialisation process of adolescents, and their consequent sexual approach, in the homosexual families contest.

Opis:
Dodatkowo nadchodząca reforma oświaty wymaga znów kolejnego wysiłku nauczycieli, by mogli sprostać nowym wyzwaniom edukacyjnym. Zatem trzeba czasu i zbudowania nowego fundamentu, aby zachwiany autorytet nauczyciela na nowo tworzyć.
We live in the world of rapid progress and industrial development which do not favour creating feeling of security and stability in people’s lives. The degradation of values which, until recently, have been present in social awareness and connected with such institutions as school, the Church, family and the state is commonly noticed. The image of a contemporary teacher, which until today has been perceived as the foundation of education and upbringing, has also been undermined. We ask ourselves what a teacher should be like to meet the demands of the contemporary times and how to establish the teacher authority again. On the one hand, students would like their teacher to be open, caring, kind, tolerant and fair. On the other hand, they want them to be knowledgeable and creative. For teachers competence, requirements and openness are the most important. Hence, students would like to have a perfect teacher who could also substitute for their par-ents. Such opinions indicate a slow crisis of a family and its failing function to bring up and take care of children. What is more, the upcoming educational reform requires teachers’ effort to meet the new educational challenges. Thus, both time and a new foundation are needed to rebuild the weakened teacher authority.

While considerable academic efforts have focused on integrating cutting-edge educational technologies into learning and instruction, it is not yet clear what effect the implementation of these technologies have had on enduring educational goals. This article reminds educations stakeholders that any plan for technology implementations should be based on serving broad educational goals. Regardless of how attractive cutting-edge technologies are, their application in education should be evaluated in light of enduring educational goals as summarized in the following: to develop responsible citizens who have basic knowledge and skills and who will become effective problem solvers and lifelong learners. This article reviews educational goals in several contexts to illustrate that while variations have evolved and many educational technologies have emerged, the basic educational goals have remained relatively stable. In reviewing the challenges and opportunities for emerging educational technologies, the basic argument herein is to begin with these basic educational goals rather than committing to the latest educational technological fad.

The closer we get to our times, the more often school reforms take place in different countries. They are an attempt to respond to deep social changes. However, in most cases, these reforms are not veryeffective. The author gives examples of failed Polish educational reforms of the last half-century. It is noted that there was a large gap between the façade proclamations of the benefits that the announcedreforms were supposed to bring and their real effects. Therefore, the author puts forward a thesis that too often reformers play a confidence game and in fact the announced change in education means nochange in practice. Meanwhile, real, profound school reforms are essential, as society and the economy will increasingly need graduates educated to meet the needs of the 21 st century. They are supposed to be people who think critically, are creative, have high communication skills, and are focused on cooperation with others. For the preparation of such graduates to be possible, there needs to be a radical change in the concept of the school and in the way teachers work.

Islam is the main religion of the Egyptian state and the basics of Sharia law are the main source of its legislation. According to the constitution, religion is one of the most important subjects in pre-university education. The role of religion is not only legislative. While talking about society, it should be mentioned that religion also plays an important role among Egyptians. Teaching religion is therefore a sensitive issue and should be significant for the government. The way they teach it and the topics they consider crucial for children to learn may later have a great impact not only on the spiritual life of believers, but also their vision of the country, the world, their way of thinking and their relationships with others – fellow citizens and tourists visiting their country. The author of the article presents the relation of ‘authorities-teaching Islam’ in governmental primary schools on the basis of examples of the content of Egyptian textbooks concerning Islam – called Islamic Upbringing – which are connected with selected topics considered important for the country. The range of the research stretches from 2013 to 2016. Topics approached in the article concern the fight against terrorism and extremist ideas, the meaning of ‘Egyptian’ and the co-existence of all citizens of Egypt – Muslims and Christians – and patriotic education. The presented content of the textbooks for Islamic Upbringing takes into account the activities of President ʿAbd al-Fattāh as-Sīsī and the government to identify whether the textbooks are compatible with public life and the current situation in the country.

Opis:
Educational tourism is the segment which works in order to meet the growing demands of the market, to increase student and staff mobility as a key tool for personal development, to enrich the learning and research experience, to improve knowledge transfer, through active participation in multilateral projects, thematic networks, joint degrees and initiatives at regional and international level. Besides, educational tourism allows students to improve their personal skills and to increase their employability. By creating opportunities and improving the quality of mobility universities offer a unique platform for students to contribute to the shaping of Europe’s future. Nowadays when all doors are open and the mental readiness of academic staff as well as students is on its top of development, there exists the man-made difficulties, barriers that hinder the process of mobility and accordingly the development of educational tourism. The article focuses on searching the ways directed at increasing and simplifying the procedures of international student mobility.

1989 was a dividing line in the history of Central & Eastern European countries. Not only political systems were re-organized, but also social and cultural relations had to be revisited. It is valid to education as well because it welcomed new structures, subjects and philosophies, very often in new educational environments. In Hungary, language education was in a special situation: due to the changing social demands it had to face new challenges with the introduction of foreign languages not widely taught up to this time. The three pillars of the study are the analysis of the shift from a socialist regime into capitalism and its reflection in language education, the description of the appearance of different languages in public and higher education, and the introduction of new methods and synergies applied in the new era of FLT (foreign language teaching). Illustrations of present results are provided from the two far ends of education, namely, pre-school education and kindergarten teacher-training.

International collaboration in education has resulted in an increasing number of participants in educational exchanges at various stages of education. Taking part in a foreign intercultural exchange is an important experience, associated with a half a year or a year-long immersion in another culture and with the return home. Changing the residence country for a certain period, learners consciously undertake the tasks aimed at familiarization with the new culture, language, customs or behaviours. Few of them think about the difficulties associated with the comeback. The presented research results show that, during the exchange, learners were able to build their strategy of functioning in the host family and country. As a result, this helped them to handle the difficulties of the reverse culture shock, which is manifested by the optimistic-active strategy applied by most of the learners after returning home.

Substantial changes underwent by Polish society during the last eighteen years have posed important challenges for the national system of education. Although numerous attempts have been taken to adjust it to the contemporary social, political, cultural, and economic changes, including massive systemic reform introduced in 2000, a huge discrepancy between the kind of support students receive in schools and the necessities they have to meet outside the educational system is still clearly visible. Three basic challenges: globalization, democratization, and civil society building will be discussed in relationship to educational management as main factors for educational success.

Opis:
Facing a deteriorating situation on the job market for teachers (including geographers), one should expect even heavier commitment of the professional group to their additional training. Therefore, it is necessary to take actions on the central level for creating wider range of offer adequate for the teachers’ needs and supporting them in that. The current system of methodological guidance and additional training for teachers is based on local arrangements and diverse organizational and financial models. There are no universal and clear factual criteria for selection of methodological advisers who would come to geography teachers’ aid, especially to those just starting their career. Methodological advisers should have an opportunity to more widely cooperate with local geography didactics sections and with Geographical Education Commission of the Polish Geography Society. Due to that, the need for introducing more frequent subject training courses for methodological advisers occurs. They are to be organized not only by publishing houses but by universities and geographical organizations as well (Groenwald et al., 2008). The collected material allows forming a statement that geography teachers in the Lesser Poland Voivodship have access to a wide range of additional training offers, mainly short coursers. Diagnostic research proved that geographers are would take the opportunity to participate in courses enabling them to acquire qualifications for teaching other subjects. The variety of forms and thematic areas of extra training activities undertaken by the teachers, can be seen as a confirmation of their great ambitions, aspirations and strive for professional perfection. Such an involvement is certainly caused, at least to some extent, by a critical position of geography as a school subject and a real risk of losing the job when a teacher holds qualifications for teaching only one school subject. Therefore, there is a special need for new competencies that a teacher should acquire. Among them, the most frequently mentioned are the following skills: working in a multicultural and diverse group, co-operating with people from the local environment, introducing information-communication technologies into pupils’ everyday life, forming pupils’ civil and social awareness, and functioning in the society (Sielatycki, 2008). In the light of the research, one should state that recent intense involvement of geography teachers in forms of additional training, especially those enabling acquiring qualifications for teaching other school subjects, seems to be unavoidable and to be the most effective way of adapting to various challenges on the educational job market.
