Opis:
Considering the great social demand for qualified technically oriented workers, it is necessary to develop the interest in technical fields. The article introduces research focused on mapping the current situation of (non)interest of primary-school students in technical fields and especially verification of whether the (non)interest is linked to the popularity of technically oriented subjects at primary schools. Primary schools in the Czech Republic involve pupils at the age of 6–15. The reasons, why technically oriented subjects are not popular, will be evaluated to provide possible solutions.

Opis:
The article deals with the problem of differential diagnosis of extreme reticence or selective speech in a child, categorised as selective mutism and shyness. Selective mutism is an increasingly recognized disorder among preschool and school children. It manifests itself functionally in the sphere of speech and communication, but in relation to the anxiety factor. As an anxiety disorder, it is categorised in the latest medical classifications ICD-11 and DSM-5, and therefore, primarily psychological or psychiatric therapeutic intervention could be expected. The specificity of the pathomechanism of selective mutism, however, requires interdisciplinary activities, with a room for a speech therapist, a special pedagogue (e.g. at a public school as a supporting teacher), any other pedagogue working with the child (educator, teacher of integrated classes, subject teacher), other specialists (therapist pedagogue, physiotherapist), as well as the parents. The speech therapist may play a special role in the diagnosis of mutism in the conditions of inclusive education, as he will probably be the first specialist who will receive a child who is not speaking or very taciturn at a public school. In the article, the diagnosis of selective mutism is associated with the differential diagnosis of shyness, which may not be treated as a disorder, but only a certain personality trait, but with incompetent pedagogical support in everyday educational practice it can lead to more serious difficulties, including logophobia and mutism. The diagnosis of mutism requires specialised therapeutic measures, but with the awareness of the differences in the situations of a shy child and a child with mutism, it is worth learning some supportive strategies that are useful in both cases.

Opis:
While it is well-known that education is positively connected to support democracy (competitive elections, a multi-party system, and the belief that political leaders must obey the law) in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, we have few empirical tests of how attitudinal, structural, and cognitive mechanisms mediate that connection. I use the Polish Panel Survey (POLPAN) for 2008–2013, a crucial period that captures the Polish political experience after acceding to the European Union and before the massive political change of the 2015 elections, to empirically test how these different mechanisms impact the link between education and democratic values. I find empirical support for the hypotheses that (a) in terms of attitudes, higher levels of education are associated with lower authoritarian attitudes, which in turn correlate with stronger pro-democratic values; (b) in terms of structure, individuals with higher levels of education, who are more likely to belong to privileged social classes, are more pro-democratic; (c) in terms of cognitive mechanisms, higher educational attainment is associated with higher cognitive abilities, which in turn correlate with stronger support for democracy.

Psychologists, teachers of inclusive education (for example, a teacher's assistant), parents, and IT specialists are involved in the process of teaching students with autism. Modern information technologies of education support can help paraprofessionals to perform their functions. Virtualization of educational content, namely avatars in the mode of augmented (virtual) reality, will allow taking into account the personal learning opportunities and needs of students with autism. The semantic differential method should be used to understand how the proposed virtual assistant satisfies the individual characteristics of such a student.

Opis:
Engineering education has been and will continue to be vital in everyday life of people around the real world, but students must have competences in development of creativity, flexibility and activity, to keep up with the speed of innovations. The experts say flexibility is more important than specific skills. The paper is focused on effective flexible environment for engineering education at technical faculties. The main aim of the article relates to the setting up of flexible educational environment, the integration of the learning content and the support of effective transfer of knowledge into the actual environment of the European working market challenges. The research works respond to the outputs of the National Project "Key Competences Formation and Effective Support of Students Mobility at Technology Faculties" in the context of massive amount of active researchers who work and use knowledge and technology base for this paper. It is also in intention of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Zilina, Slovakia, through the knowledge obtained from project research to offer each interested educational institutions the opportunity to adopt virtual education environment concept to support students creativity, flexibility, activity (CFA) in order to better focus on improving student ´s learning procedure and increasing the quality of instruction procedure. The underlying basis for the research of the effectiveness of the virtual learning environment the paper CFA concept and methodology respect natural principles that while research experts take to account that the students “archetype” behind learning procedure has not changed importantly over time, the external factors affecting how student comprehend, retain and receive new education material are constantly evolving. The paper brings the results of the current national educational agency research project focused on effectiveness of modular didactic cycle with new virtual technologies, methods and forms in student-focused concept through the processing of experimental data of the electronics study program from the period of 2017-2018. Based on the framework, a set of virtual tools and supports that allow this flexible education process to run smoothly, were implemented. The innovative concept is based on standardized automated equipment and virtual instrumentation software with the new assessment to identify and reflect on the students´ competences outcomes of learning experiences during modular didactic cycle to examine the flexible environment helpfulness of virtual instrumentation based learning and to explore how the concept enhances career-ready competences. Finally, this paper discusses the findings and experiences gained from the effective virtual education environment model which was piloted with a multinational company that is a producer of automated equipment and virtual instrumentation software.
