Opis:: Extensive numerical simulations of FinFET structures have been carried out using commercial TCAD tools. A series of plasma etching steps has been simulated for different process conditions in order to evaluate the influence of plasma pressure, composition and powering on the FinFET topography. Next, the most important geometric parameters of the FinFETs have been varied and the electrical characteristics have been calculated in order to evaluate the sensitivity of the FinFET electrical parameters on possible FinFET structure variability.

Opis:: Purpose: In this study, plasma arc cutting (PAC) is an industrial process widely used for cutting various away types of metals in several operating conditions. Design/methodology/approach: It is carried out a systematic or an authoritative inquiry to discover and examine the fact, the plasma cutting process is to establish the accuracy and the quality of the cut in this current paper assessed a good away to better the cutting process. Findings: It found that the effect of parameters on the cutting quality than on the results performed to accomplish by statistical analysis. Research limitations/implications: The objective of the present work paper is to achieve cutting parameters, thus the quality of the cutting process depends upon the plasma gas pressure, scanning speed, cutting power, and cutting height. Practical implications: The product of the plasma cutting process experimentally has been the quality of the cutting equipment that was installed to monitor kerf width quality by exam the edge roughness, kerf width, and the size of the heat-affected zone (HAZ). Originality/value: The results reveal that were technically possessed of including all the relevant characteristics, then a quality control for the cutting and describe the consequence of the process parameters.

Opis:: Badania odnoszą się do prób frezowania powierzchni płaskich stopu tytanu WT22 (Ti-6Al-5Mo-5V-1Cr-1Fe) o twardości 40 HRC ostrzami z węglików spiekanych powlekanych azotkiem tytanu. Dobór parametrów frezowania i metod pomiarowych był związany z analizą zjawisk przykrawędziowych, zachodzących podczas obróbki narzędziami wieloostrzowymi, które tworzą powierzchnię obrobioną w wyniku wzajemnie nakładających się oddziaływań. Do badań zastosowano głowicę frezową z ośmioma płytkami wymiennymi o nowoczesnej konstrukcji wierzchołka ostrza w postaci powierzchni dogładzającej Abs. Badania zużycia ostrzy i chropowatości powierzchni obrobionej przeprowadzono dla trzech prędkości posuwu, przy uwzględnieniu bicia osiowego ostrzy.
This paper presents the results of milling tests of flat surfaces of WT22 (Ti-6Al-5Mo-5V-1Cr-1Fe) titanium alloy (hardness 40 HRC) with the use of titanium nitride coated sintered carbides. Selection of milling parameters and measurement methods was related to the analysis of the contact phenomena occurring during machining using the indexable tools, which form the machined surface as a result of the overlapping interactions. The face milling cutter with eight interchangeable inserts has a modern construction of blade tip in the form of an Abs superfinish surface. The investigations of cutting edge wear and roughness of machined surface were carried out at three feed rates, taking into account face run-out of cutting edges.

Opis:: Tool geometry is one of the key factors influencing the quality of the cutting process. Usually the geometry is described for a new tool and the changes in it during cutting are explained with the use of tool wear indexes. They are quite easy to measure when the wear is significant. However, for the finishing processes the location of tool edge and the roughness of the tool edge are the most important factors, which are difficult to measure mainly because of a very developed surface of wear land with a number of difficult to measure points. In the paper, the Talysurf CCI 6000 was used to measure tool cutting wedge geometry, flank wear and roughness of the cutting edge. Measurement of tool irregularities with the use of CCI 6000 was rapid but its application was limited for measurement tool geometry in a state of wear.
Geometria narzędzia jest kluczowym czynnikiem wpływającym na jakość procesu skrawania. Geometria podawana jest dla narzędzia nowego, natomiast zmiany na ostrzu podczas jego pracy opisywane są za pomocą wskaźników zużycia ostrza zdefiniowanych w normie ISO 3685. Wyznaczenie wartości wskaźników zużycia ostrza nie nastręcza wielu problemów, gdy wielkość ta dotyczy zużycia na granicy trwałości narzędzia [1-5]. Natomiast dla obróbki wykończeniowej decydującym o jakości procesu jest położenie krawędzi skrawającej (wymiar geometryczny przedmiotu) oraz chropowatość krawędzi skrawającej (mikrochropowatość powierzchni obrobionej) [6-9]. Charakterystyki te są trudne do zmierzenia ze względu na rozwiniętą powierzchnię zużycia ostrza oraz występujące mikropowierzchnie o znacznym nachyleniu. W artykule zaprezentowano pomiar geometrii narzędzia, zużycia na powierzchni przyłożenia oraz chropowatości powierzchni obrobionej przy zastosowaniu Talysurf CCI 6000 [10]. Pomiar przy użyciu CCI 6000 okazał się niezwykle szybki i dokładny. Ze względu na ograniczony zakres pomiaru wielkości, zarówno w pionie jak i w poziomie, dominującym czynnikiem określającym możliwości pomiarowe okazało się precyzyjne ustawianie ostrza podczas pomiaru.

Opis:: During separation of work surface in machining process and transforming it into chips, tool remains in constant contact with the workpiece. During this contact, there are a series of phenomena leading to the tool wear. Tool wear monitoring, and determination of tool life which is a signal to replace the tool with a new one, is important to ensure the continuity of production process in any company where elements are produced by machining. The article presents the results of tool wear measurement after milling of AlSi10Mg aluminum alloy using combined roughness and contour device.

Opis:: It is important to shape the required properties of the surface layer in the technological process. This issue is an important problem due to the ability of the kinematic pair elements to the required reliable operation of machine parts. The latest generation devices work with increasing operational loads. This forces the search forever-newer construction materials or innovative manufacturing engineering technologies that would ensure high reliability and durability of machine components. For mechanical engineering, continue to be used on steel structures of machine parts. In the petrochemical and shipbuilding industry, stainless steels are very poplars. Those materials are used in the constructions of seawater and acid installations. Currently, a newer material with more favourable properties is two-phase stainless steel. This is the so-called duplex steel. It can be applied to pump shafts in acid or seawater solutions. Duplex cast steel is a difficult-to-cut material. It is important to determine the effect of cutting parameters on the surface quality of the shafts and wear of cutting edge. Traditional methods of finishing surface treatment of shafts are machining (turning, grinding, superfinishing). Considering the possibilities of equipping a marine power plant workshop, it would be best to use machining by turning. The paper specifies the relationship between the wear of the cutting edge and the geometrical structure of the machined surface as well as the type of tool material used and the shape of the cutting inserts.

Opis:: Material separation is one of the basic technological operations. Abrasive water jet machining (AWJM) is a universal cutting method; it is used for almost all structural materials, ranging from easy-to-cut materials such as aluminium alloys to materials that are difficult-to-cut after thermal treatment. In terms of assembly accuracy and product safety, surface quality and edge condition after cutting are of vital importance. Machining with ceramic brushes mounted on the machining centre is one of the methods for improving surface quality and removing burrs after AWJM. The aim of this study is to analyse the influence of machining conditions with ceramic brushes on the surface quality and effectiveness of deburring after abrasive water jet machining of EN AW-7075 aluminium alloy. For all tested brushing treatment conditions lower roughness parameters were obtained compared to the base surface after AWJM. A positive deburring effect was achieved for all fibre types after one brush pass. For the brush with the lowest stiffness fibres a rounded edge was obtained, while for the fibres with higher stiffness – the edges were chamfered.

Opis:: The development and research activity is connected to the production of newer and more functional products. Innovative processes are being developed and applied; services and projects are delivered. Products are work items that should be initially designed, then manufactured and finally sold and utilized. Examples of products may be airplanes, ships, cars, machine tools, gears, crankshafts, drive shaft, tubes as well as gasoline, electricity and gas, etc. The product has to meet the expectations of the future use. It is characterized by a set of functional features. In the case of machines and their capabilities and performance, for example, durability, reliability, resulting from the characteristics represented by the structural units forming the structure. The formation of the desired features of the surface layer in the technological process is an important problem due to the ability of the elements of kinematic pairs to fulfil the function as long as possible foreseen for them. The article presents results of experimental studies of turning cast steel grade GX2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3-3. The aim of the research was to determine the geometry of the cutting edge and the technological parameters of cutting that are conducive to obtaining the roughness in the field of very accurate machining. It can achieve the appropriate technological quality of the workpiece surface. After these experimental studies was determined that there is a reduction roughness using suitable inserts. Turning was made for the duplex cast steel. The technological parameters of machining process were used: feed rate f = 0.1-0.2 mm/rev, depth of cut ap = 0.5 mm, cutting speed vc = 50-100 m/min. Turning was made using universal lathe CDS 500x1000 equipped with CCMT carbide tipped inserts.

Opis:: One of the important and still current problems occurring in the fish processing industry is the intensive wear of the cutting surface of industrial cutting blades used to separate the fish raw material. In the paper, the proposes aproprietary solution to the above problem consisting in the regeneration of worn surfaces realized in the process of precise grinding by the use of a prototype 5-axis CNC grinding machine was presented. The obtained machining results were verified, among others on the basis of measurements of values of the cutting edges inclination angles and analysis of values of selected surface roughness parameters. The proposed solution along with the developed methodology can be an interesting alternative to typical ways of renewing the cutting ability of cutting tools in applications from the fish processing industry.
