Opis:
The Steel-concrete composite column can be an effective solution for any type of civil engineering construction instead of bare concrete or bare steel column because of having a good confinement effect between steel and concrete. Four types of shapes (square, rectangular, circular and elliptical) are chosen to find out their bearing capacity and axial compressive strength according to AISC (2010) guidelines. It is tried to make differences between these shapes. And it is also tried to keep the same cross-sectional dimension in the area of each shape. The main features which are found from this investigation are that circular shape has a good confinement effect and cost-effective than other shapes. Though the capacity of the square shape of CFST column is better than circular but it loses its confinement effect because of having sharp edges. And a square type of shape is suitable for easy connection. On the other hand, rectangular shape is better than elliptical shape.

Opis:
This study presents the behaviour of model footing resting over unreinforced and reinforced sand bed under different loading conditions carried out experimentally. The parameters investigated in this study includes the number of reinforced layers (N = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4), embedment ratio (Df/B = 0, 0.5, 1.0), eccentric and inclined ratio (e/L, e/B = 0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15) and (a = 0°, 7°, 14°). The test sand was reinforced with bi-axial geogrid (Bx20/20). The test results show that the ultimate bearing capacities decrease with axial eccentricity and inclination of applied loads. The test results also show that the depth of model footing increase zero to B (B = width of model footing), an increase of ultimate bearing capacity (UBC) approximated at 93%. Similarly, the multi-layered geogrid reinforced sand (N = 0 to 4) increases the UBC by about 75%. The bearing capacity ratio (BCR) of the model footing increases with an increasing load eccentricity to the core boundary of footing; if the load eccentricities increase continuity, the BCR decreases. The tilt of the model footing is increased by increasing the eccentricity and decreases with increasing the number of reinforcing layers.

Opis:
The main aim of this paper is to examine the variability of some dynamic properties of concrete composite panels to in-plane eccentric compression loads via static and dynamic impact testing. First, experimental tests were performed in order to obtain the dynamic and static properties of concrete composite panels. In-plane eccentric loads were statically applied to a couple of panels in ten uniform steps. For each step, dynamic impact testing was performed and the modal damping, peak amplitude and natural frequencies obtained. Second, a ‘hybrid’ model, based on the concepts of modal analysis and the Finite Element Method, was developed in order to obtain the natural frequencies and corresponding normal modes of the composite panels within the frequency range 0–200 Hz. For this model, an initial warp of the panel middle surface was incorporated into the formulation in order to represent the applied flexural moment provoked by the eccentric in-plane loads. The accuracy of the ‘hybrid’ model was verified by comparison with the experimental results. Third, comparison is made between predictions (using on the ‘hybrid’ model) and experimental results.

Opis:
The Meyerhof hypothesis deals with the bearing capacity of eccentrically loaded shallow foundations. It uses an effective foundation width thus addresses the bearing capacity calculation to the one for centrally loaded strip foundations of the reduced width. Testing elasto-plastic analyses based on the PLAXIS(R) code confirm good accuracy of such a simplification. In the second part, the paper focuses on partial safety factors proposed by the Eurocode EC7. A special attention is also paid to the role of random eccentricity. Making use of the Hasofer-Lind calibration, it is found that the values of partial safety factors proposed by EC7 are reasonable.

Opis:
The paper reports experimental research on torques during cardboard cutting in the die-cutting press with eccentrics in the drive of the movable pressure plate. To conduct the research, an experimental bench with eccentrics in the drive of the die-cutting press is designed and manufactured. The manufactured experimental device for the research on cardboard blanks provides the possibility of getting dependencies of loadings at different parameters of the die-cutting process. The experimental approach envisages the use of the strain gauge measurement method and the wireless module for data collecting, as well as the software for its processing, for getting trustworthy results with minimum faults. The method gives an opportunity to study the torque values during the cardboard-cutting efforts on the drive shaft. The paper shows changes in the torque value on the drive shaft during the kinematic cycle with and without the use of cardboard blank. The angle of the drive shaft rotation during the cutting process was evaluated at selected values of the cardboard thickness. The relationship between the linear cutting efforts and the cardboard thickness, its fibre direction, cutting rule type and rotational speed of the drive shaft is elaborated. This kind of data is approximated by a logarithmic function (logarithmic curve), at R2 from 0.90 to 0.98. The thickness of the cardboard significantly influences the value of the linear cutting effort at all the studied parameters.

Opis:
Earthquake investigations confirm that irregular structures suffer more damage than their symmetric counterparts. The vibration mode of irregular structures is affected by the cou- pling of lateral and torsional vibration characteristics. The analysis of the lateral-torsional coupling effect is mainly limited to unidirectional eccentric structure or single-layer eccentric design. To fill this gap, this paper presents a parametric study of the whole loading pro- cess, exploring lateral-torsional coupling vibration characteristics of multi-layer bi-directional eccentric structures. The performed nonlinear static analysis revealed that the natural fre- quency of eccentric frames with different layers exhibited a general pattern with a three-stage evolution from elastic to elastic-plastic stages. Accordingly, three different elastic-plastic de- velopment stages of parametric analysis were defined. The effects of the uncoupled torsion-to- -lateral frequency ratios Ω and stiffness eccentricities on the translation-torsion coupled vi- bration characteristics in the above three stages were simulated via self-compiled programs on the MATLAB platform. The results obtained show that the range of Ω controlling the vibration characteristics was related to the eccentricities. Therefore, it was proposed to set different limit values of Ω in designing and analyzing the structures with different bi- directional eccentric degrees. At Ω = 1.1 ∼ 1.2, the coupling effect between bi-directional eccentricities led to transformation between the first- and second-order vibration modes, while the direction with the lowest lateral stiffness could not be directly judged as the structure first-order principal vibration direction. In the third stage, when the bi-directional eccentricities reached or even exceeded 0.3, the second and third modes transformed into each other.

Opis:
When harvesting plant mass by forage harvesters for haylage, maize of high ripeness for silage, etc., one of the tasks is to increase the efficiency of the use of vehicles by increasing the quantity of transported growing mass, which is achievable with proper compaction and uniform distribution of the vehicle bunker. This is facilitated by the use of an active visor with a return movement located on the silo line of the forage harvester. The results of theoretical studies on optimization of operation modes and improving the design of active visor are presented. The options for a smooth and continuous control of the working stroke of the active visor located on the silo line of forage harvester are developed. When harvesting vegetable mass with forage harvesters for haylage, corn of wax ripeness for silage, etc.one of the tasks is to increase the efficiency of using vehicles by increasing the amount of transported plant mass, which is achievable if it is properly compacted and evenly distributed over the vehicle body. This is facilitated by the use of an active visor, i.e. a visor with a return movement on the silo of the forage harvester. Theoretical studies on optimizing operating modes and improving the design of the active visor on the silo of the forage harvester were carried out in accordance with the provisions of classical mechanics. Four basic schemes for controlling the working stroke of the visor are structurally justified. The use of the proposed control concepts and active visor designs allows you to control the process of uniform and homogeneous loading of vehicles when harvesting grasses for silage by forage harvesters.
Ułatwia to użycie elementów roboczych sieczkarni. Teoretyczne badania dotyczące optymalizacji trybów pracy i poprawy konstrukcji elementów roboczych sieczkarni przeprowadzono zgodnie z zasadami mechaniki klasycznej. Cztery podstawowe schematy kontroli udaru elementu roboczego są strukturalnie uzasadnione. Zastosowanie proponowanych obwodów sterowania i konstrukcji elementu roboczego pozwala kontrolować proces równomiernego ładowania pojazdów podczas zbioru masy roślinnej.
