Opis:
This study analyzes urban areas which comprise an urban center and neighboring municipalities. As an administrative unit, a city is an organism full of internal and external connections, and it undergoes constant change at the micro and macro level. A city's internal structure is modified over time in response to changes in the local environment, and those changes often affect the surrounding territories. This article proposes a methodology for analyzing the dynamics of urban space in five Polish cities (Białystok, Kielce, Olsztyn, Toruń and Rzeszów) which were surveyed in 2002-2010. The analysis was based on the assumption that dwellings constitute the largest part of a city, and that they are most susceptible to change. An observer examining the city from within will note that a critical level has been reached (an observer positioned in a rural area will report a decrease in the surface tension of the urban/rural boundary). In consequence, progressing residential development in areas adjacent to the city contributes to urban sprawl. In view of the above, a research hypothesis was proposed that residential area per capita is the most robust indicator of economic and spatial changes in an urban area.

Opis:
W latach 30. XX w. model percepcji przestrzeni zgodny z zasadami fizjologii (rytm jednostajny) zastąpił model percepcji zgodny z zasadami psychologii (teoria bodźców) i bazujący na tworzeniu subiektywnej narracji psychologicznej.
In the wake of the developing art (paintings) modernist architecture introduced dynamics into spatial composition. Neoplasticism based it on regular rhythm and open composition, while functionalism based it on movement – the way we perceive geometry while moving through space. In the 1930s the spatial perception model in accordance with physiology principles (regular rhythm) was replaced by the perception model in accordance with the principles of psychology (theory of incentives) and relied on the creation of a subjective psychological narrative. The subjective impression, kept vague on purpose, enabled diverse interpretation and created a new canon of the basic elements of architectural composition (Norberg-Schulz): the center, the direction, an area - characteristic because they did not define borders of the form. Ambiguity or freedom of interpretation of the space allows (as an option proposed rather than imposed by the architect) for a transfer of values. The pavilion at the world exhibition in Paris in 1937 with the design by Romuald Gutt can be viewed as an example where the psychological narrative despite the “open form” culminates in definite geometry - the acoustical shell’s dome. It serves as a message from the architect, who in 1936 had decided that the greatest value of Poland in those times, at the international exhibition, was its cultural value - represented symbolically by concerts with Chopin’s music.

In the course of excavations carried out on site 1 in Prusak the remains of an early medieval settlement from the previous phases of early Middle Ages was recorded. These were ground relics of residential features and accompanying traces of utility features in the form of pits, used primarily to store and process food. They created recurring, mutually differing binary systems interpreted as homesteads inhabited by nuclear families. It was assumed that they were created at different times, which was confirmed by the analysis of formal features of ceramic sets. Ceramics collections coming from the above mentioned systems were treated just as monuments obtained from compact sets. Also the production zone was distinguished, consisting of wood-tar pits and accompanying residential buildings. It functioned in the period between leaving the first complex of homesteads and creation of the second. It was preceded with a quite long settlement hiatus, during which trees grew that were used for the production of wood tar.

Opis:
The purpose of this article is to answer the question: how and to what extent it is possible to care for the elderly in the context of Polish migration. The theoretical perspective on which I have based the analysis of the empirical data is the concept of transnationalism. According to this approach, migrants not only stay in touch with their relatively immobile members of the family in their native country, but they also actively take part in their everyday life, e.g. in their elderly parents' lives. The strategy of the empirical re¬search is based on two assumptions. Firstly, I assume that geographical proximity and distance are the scale which determines various forms of intergenerational relations including taking care of the elderly. Migration changes the shape of these relations, but it does not exclude them. Secondly, the socio-cultural system of the host society and its institutional solutions concerning the policy aimed at the elderly significantly determine the changing attitudes of migrants towards the dominant patterns of caring for the elderly, but not towards practice. The research in which both qualitative and quantitative research techniques were used, was being carried out in Iceland within the period of three months (August to November 2010). The main conclusion which can be drown from the research is that the geographical distance is an important but not the key component determining taking or not taking up the practice of caring for elderly parents. Adult children living together with their parents and close and far distance are scales which determine different possibilities and forms of caring for the elderly. Although after the economic crisis in 2008 the financial situation of migrants in Iceland is very difficult, the support provided by the migrants is very intensive. The research shows the mechanism of compensation for the lack of frequent personal contact and diminishing having a guilty feeling because of "leaving" the parents.

This work investigates kinetics, dynamics and energy of solid on the example of a tool fixed flexibly under the process of cutting. The original approach to the tool kinetics was considered by the Authors earlier. This work consists with three parts referred to the kinetics, dynamics, and energy of solid. Present work is concerned on the development of kinetics problems of a solid represented by a tool fixed flexibly and is a continuation of the problem. Part 1 covers the definition and characteristics of the machining space-time and is referred generally to the kinetics. Then the kinetic and dynamic magnitudes characterizing tool in the space-time are described. The set of these magnitudes has been extended by introducing the properly understood impulse and time-effect. Part 2 of the work is to consider the dynamics of tool in the machining space-time. In Part 3, types of works in the machining space-time and energy of the tool fixed flexibly will be considered; the focus is to be put on an essential difference between work and energy.

Opis:
This paper presents a model of the development of economic space inspired by evolutionary genetics and by the George Price’s equation in particular. This equation is a complete description for the evolutionary dynamics of the character for any system of selection, mutation, matching and inheritance. The author of this paper made a redefinition of the equation in terms of the theory of spatial economics. The aim of this operation is to derive framework for: 1) reconstruction of economic processes in spatial dimensions, and 2) distinction of small changes resulting from learning and selection, on one side, and the innovations (major changes) in spatial development process the order. The redefined model was then tested using statistical data for regional system of the Polish economy. The author acknowledges that the results obtained, although promising, are not fully satisfactory as yet, and encourages researches to engage in this subject. One can expect that this approach may be helpful in solving difficult problem of integration of the spatial, socio-economic and environmental modelling and policy.

The paper presents next application and possibilities of dynamical analysis for engineering structures by means of 3D-Time Space Method in numerical edition proposed by the author with application of finite differences. These structures can be charged by different kinds of loadings. This time, it is a bridge girder with a car or the whole group of different carriages moving with certain velocity. The considerations were taken, starting from general differential equations of motion, through their simplified versions - resulting from taken assumptions for a bridge, until a set of two equations describing its bending-torsion behaviour. There are given examples of particular applications of the method.

An individual-based model of an infinite system of point particles in Rd is proposed and studied. In this model, each particle at random produces a finite number of new particles and disappears afterwards. The phase space for this model is the set Γ of all locally finite subsets of Rd. The system's states are probability measures on  Γ the Markov evolution of which is described in terms of their  correlation functions in a scale of Banach spaces. The existence and uniqueness of solutions of the corresponding evolution equation are proved.

Two methods were used for the calculation of the beam field: the particle-to-particle method and the particle-in-cell one. The results of calculations which illustrate space-charge effects on the parameters of beam in the process of acceleration are given. Amyloidosis, a serious and widespread disease with a genetic background , manifests itself through the formation of dangerous fibrils in various organs. Apart from the polluted environment and an unhealthy lifestyle, genetic factors may accelerate this process leading in some cases to lethal damages to the body. Recently, a growing interest in amyloidogenic protein research has been observed. Transthyretin (TTR) is a tetrameric protein that transports thyroid hormone thyroxine and retinol binding protein in plasma and the cerebral fluid. Sometimes TTR breaks apart and forms fibrils. Several single point mutations, having de stabilizing impact on the TTR complex, are involved in the amyloidogenic TTR cascade. Problems with the TTR tetramer stability and conformational space characteristics of the protein have not been addressed computationally before. We present selected results of our molecular dynamics (MD, ∼ 2000ns) and steered MD simulations ( SMD ) of three variants of TTR : Wild Type ( WT ), V 30 M and L 55 P . SMD has been used to enforce the dissociation of TTR . Conformational spaces of WT TTR and its amyloidogenic variants have been investigated using a novel “ One Place One Conformation ” ( OPOC ) algorithm based on a graph technique called Petrinet (PN) formalism. While the PN approach alone does not permit a direct identification of protein regions with reduced stability, it gives quite a useful tool for an effective compari son of complex protein energy landscapes explored during classical and/or SMD steered molecular dynamics simulations.

An adequate and extended definition of energy in general, with mechanical energy in particular, is formulated. There are three kinds of mechanical energy considered, located on the stable static potential field being one of the limits of the machining space-time. They are the following energies: repel, inertial, and gravitational. Proper measures/potentials have been assigned to these energies, treating the energy as a mental notion, having no physical meaning in contrast to the potential as the physical magnitude.

At first a correct definition of impact has been formulated. For comparison, the interpretation of the elastic impact according to the existent knowledge is given. Then, taking advantage of the new correctly formulated the principle of mechanical energy conservation, the energetic states of impacting body have been described. Basing on this, the formula on dynamic deflection has been derived. This formula is adequate in character and fully corresponds with investigated reality.

In the course of the development of physics until the beginning of the twentieth century there was an evolutionary progress within its ontological frameworks. Its continuity was violated by A. Einstein’s works of 1905 and his so-called „quantum and relativistic revolution.” In its course people gave up a series of results they had achieved, and replaced them by some radical solutions that differed from common sense intuitions. In particular, in the context of the theory of relativity the concept of electromagnetic ether was rejected. Then the concept of absolute time and absolute geometry of space were removed, facts that eliminated the „flow” of time and change of the ontology of physics from the substantialist one into the eventist one. The changes turned out unnecessary, they resulted not from the very theory of relativity, but from some arbitrary solutions within the frameworks of its philosophical interpretation. On the other hand, they clash with clear ontological intuitions and make an explanation of the „flow” of time impossible. What is more, they are also not beneficial for a further progress in the development of physics, especially in the context of seeking a quantum theory of gravitation. It seems right to return to pre-relativistic concepts, starting from ether. For it is the elimination of the latter that had started the „revolution.”
