Opis:: The recursive differentiation method (RDM) is introduced and employed to obtain analytical solutions for static and dynamic stability parameters of beams resting on two-parameter foundations in various different end conditions. The present analysis reflects the reliability, efficiency and simplicity of the proposed RDM in tackling boundary value problems. In fact, it is widely common that the critical load accompanied with the first buckling mode is the smallest critical load, and then it is the dominant factor in the static stability analysis. In contrast, the present analysis indicates that such a conclusion is correct only for the case of beams without foundations or in the case of a weak foundation relative to the beam. It is proved that critical loads accompanied with higher buckling modes may be smaller than those accompanied with the lower modes and then it may control the stability analysis. The same phenomenon exists for natural frequencies in the presence of an axial load. Several illustrations are introduced to highlight the effects of both the foundation stiffness and beam slenderness on the critical loads and natural frequencies.

Opis:: In the presented paper authors attempt to analyze the differences in the use of computers and the Internet in particular voivodships, places of residence and in different socio-economic groups in Poland in the years 2011, 2013 and 2015. To this purpose authors used data on the diagnosis of conditions and the quality of life of Polish people [8]. Gini's indicators and the Lorenz curve were used to visualize the differences in the use of computers and the Internet. The results showed that the greatest variation in the use of Internet and Computers was between students/learners, private entrepreneurs and the pensioners, annuitants and farmers. In the place of residence and the voivodeship, there were no significant differences in the use of these two above technologies.

Opis:: Przedstawiono sposób obliczania strumienia permeatu w badaniach kinetyki inikrofiltriicji z zastosowaniem metody Wiechowskiego do różniczkowania numerycznego z jednoczesnym wygładzaniem. Otrzymane wyniki porównano z rezultatami uzyskanymi z wykorzystaniem wzorów interpolacyjnych Lagrange'a oraz metody Savitzky'ego-Golay 'a.
Calculations of permeate flux during investigations of microfiltration kinetics by applying Wieckowski's method of numerical differentiation with simultaneous, smoothing is presented in the paper. The results obtained were compared with those calculated using the Lagrange interpolation formula and Savitzky-Golay method.

Osiągnięcie tak sformułowanego celu wymaga sformułowania i zrealizowania celów cząstkowych, do których autorzy zaliczają:- na płaszczyźnie teoretyczno-projektowej – kwerendę literatury przedmiotu pozostającą w bezpośredniej relacji z podjętym tematem; w zamierzeniu autorów znajdzie to swój wyraz w hipotetycznym zestawie kryteriów oceny okazji, które w dalszej procedurze badawczej zostaną poddane ocenie eksperckiej; - na płaszczyźnie projektowej – wypracowanie, przyjęcie i konsekwentne stosowanie terminu okazja implementacyjna, tym bardziej, że nie ma precyzyjnie ustalonego jego znaczenia;- na płaszczyźnie empirycznej – wykorzystanie metody w praktyce przedsiębiorstw sektora maszynowego; zostanie przeprowadzona – uwzględniająca kryteria jej różnicowania – ocena wybranej okazji implementacyjnej.
The main objective of the publication is to develop a set of differentiation criteria – which occur in practice of manufacturing companies – of implementation opportunities, and to prepare methods of their assessment on this basis. The achievement of the objective, shaped in this way, requires a formulation and fulfilment of partial objectives, which, according to the authors, include:- at the theoretical and design level – a query of subject literature remaining in the direct relation to the research topic; in the authors’ intention, it will find its expression in a hypothetical set of assessment criteria of opportunities, which will be subjected to the expert evaluation in the further research procedure;- at the design level – development, adoption and consistent use of the implementation opportunity term, especially that its meaning is not precisely determined; - at the empirical level – using the method in practice of companies of the machinery sector; the assessment of the selected implementation opportunity – taking into account its differentiation criteria – will be conducted.).
Основная цель публикации – разработать перечень критериев дифференцирования, появляющихся в практике производственных предприятий, способностей внедрения и на этой основе подготовить метод их оценки. Достижение так поставленной цели требует формулировки и осуществления ча- стичных целей, к числу которых авторы относят:- в теоретико-проектном плане – обзор литературы предмета, прямо связан- ной с рассматривавемой темой; по намерению авторов это получит свое отражение в гипотетическом наборе критериев оценки шансов, которые в дальнейшей исследовательской процедуре будут подвержены экспертной оценке;-- в проектном плане – разработка, принятие и последовательное примене- ние термина «способность внедрения», тем более что нет четко определенного его значения;- в эмпирическом плане – использование метода в практике предприятий машиностроительного сектора; будет проведена, учитывающая критерии ее дифференцирования, оценка избранной способности внедрения.

Opis:: The article presents an analysis of the profitability of extractive industry companies belonging to the twenty largest companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. For the purposes of cause-and-effect analysis Du Pont method was used, which was supported by the method of differentiation. Du Pont method is one of the basic models of multi-assessment of the financial condition of operators. Financial analysis allows to assess the impact of net profit margin and asset turnover on the formation of return on assets, while the rate of return on assets, together with the adopted strategy by the management of the debt, affects the return on equity. The starting point for the discussion is talking over basic issues related to the method of Du Pont. The rest of the article is devoted to the analysis of the profitability of extractive industry companies from WIG20 index using a multicriterion analysis indicator.

Opis:: This paper presents a method for adjusting the level of services offered by the network with quality of service differentiation for the long-term characteristics of a transmitted video stream. The Drop Precedence (DP) field located in the header of IP packet for this purpose was used.The DP field is set dynamically, based on the measurement of the long-term properties of a source video stream entering the network. The level of traffic perturbations present in a stream is expressed by the Hurst parameter, and then mapped to the size of a priority encoded in the DP field. By that means, an adaptive differentiation of the preferences of individual streams within the same AF PHB class of service is implemented, depending on the size of perturbations existing in the flow. The use of the long-term Hurst parameter, as a criterion of classification, makes the treatment of packets marked with a given priority value does the job well on a larger time scale.

Opis:: Texture of ultrasound images contain information about the properties of examined tissues. The analysis of statistical properties of backscattered ultrasonic echoes has been recently successfully applied to differentiate healthy breast tissue from the benign and malignant lesions. We propose a novel procedure of tissue characterization based on acquiring backscattered echoes from the heated breast. We have proved that the temperature increase inside the breast modifies the intensity, spectrum of the backscattered signals and the probability density function of envelope samples. We discuss the differences in probability density functions in two types of tissue regions, e.g. cysts and the surrounding glandular tissue regions. Independently, Pennes bioheat equation in heterogeneous breast tissue was used to describe the heating process. We applied the finite element method to solve this equation. Results have been compared with the ultrasonic predictions of the temperature distribution. The results confirm the possibility of distinguishing the differences in thermal and acoustical properties of breast cyst and surrounding glandular tissues.

Opis:: The electrophysiological characteristics of alcoholics, such as the P300 amplitude of the Event-Related Potential (ERP), are related to high risk in their offspring, and are considered to be biological endophenotypes of a predisposition to develop alcohol use disorders. Contemporary knowledge justifies early diagnoses of the alcohol risk degree among adolescents, or even children, including their families, involving an examination of the P300 potential as an endophenotype, prior to achievement of an age of alcohol initiation. The results of such research approaches may be of importance not only cognitively, but also of prophylactically, in the early recognition of increased susceptibility to alcohol. The simplicity and non-invasiveness, and the exceptionally low costs of the methods described, should obtain for the present as well as in the future, a wider examination, one potentially even mass scope of in character and usefulness. The knowledge of such an endophenotype and genetically-related susceptibility, in the individual, family, and social dimension and transmission, and in the rearing of children and adolescents, could protect – not just individuals – but many from entering into the route of addiction, which is most frequently the effect of acting unaware and with negative life consequences, both generational and transgenerational for generations to come.

Opis:: Tuberculosis is one of the leading infectious diseases. In this work, a new genotyping method of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) complex strain is presented. 27 Mtb genomes were analyzed for the presence of length polymorphism within polymorphic GC-rich gene sequences. Four genes, Rv3345c, Rv3507, Rv0747 and Rv3511, showing variation in length depending on the Mtb strain were selected for designing primer sequences flanking variable regions for the PCR method. Identification of 16 genotypes among 27 analyzed genomes demonstrated usefulness of our genotyping method in differentiation of Mtb genomes based on sequence polymorphism in the four PGRS genes.

Opis:: Research background: Social and economic development involves a broad spectrum of social, economic and spatial phenomena. The multi-faceted nature of regional development arises directly from the fact that it is shaped by multiple factors. Current discourse emphasises the role of endogenous factors, which indicate the specific nature and the distinctive features of the given territory. Mobilising the endogenous potential ensures stable regional development dynamics. At the moment, one of the fundamental economic problems are the increasing differences in the development of specific regions. Purpose of the article: The purpose of this study is to assess the differentiation of the social and economic level development of Polish Voivodeships, applying the selected assessment methods for the years 2010 and 2015, draw up a rank list of regional units according to their development levels, and identify the groups of Voivodeships sharing similar development levels. The indicators used in this study, characterising the level of the social and economic development, have been systematised according to the following areas: demographics and labour market, regional entrepreneurship, local economy structure, innovation and research & development activities, technical infrastructure, social infrastructure, and the condition and protection of the natural environment. Methods: The level of the social and economic development of Polish Voivodeships was assessed using Zdzisław Hellwig's development pattern method, which made it possible to rank them according to the level of development of Polish Voivodeship. The methodology is supplemented by Ward's agglomerative clustering method, which made it possible to distinguish other Voivodeships according to the analysed phenomenon. The Voivodeship clustering method used Jenks' natural breaks classification method. Findings & Value added: Pursuing the research aims, the authors focused in particular on clear spatial differences. Through the analysis we were able to identify the changes in the social and economic development processes of the Polish regions. The Voivodeships were divided into groups according to their development level: the highest, high, low and the lowest.
