Opis:
In this comprehensive study, the concept and structural diagram of the system for diagnostics of induction electric motors of vehicles with the development of algorithms for the operation of modular units for monitoring the state of the main structural elements are proposed. During the development of the diagnostic system, the peculiarities of the construction of diagnostic systems of rotating electric machines were investigated in the real conditions of their operation, and modern methods of current and vibration diagnostics were implemented. The work algorithms of each module are presented in the functional diagram of the general diagnostic system of and cover important defects of induction motors. The diagnostic system combines methods that use different diagnostic principles and criteria and are adapted for use in an embedded diagnostic system. The developed functional diagram of the diagnostic system can be used for practical implementation in physical form. The use of the proposed diagnostic system will make it possible to obtain continuous information about the state of both electrical and mechanical components of the induction motor when operating under load with a poor-quality power system in real operating conditions.

Zmiany te zaobserwowano na podstawie analizy kąta zwilżania dla wybranych podłoży. Przeprowadzone pomiary z użyciem elektrochemicznej spektroskopii impedancyjnej wykazały, że złote elektrody z mniejszą chropowatością podłoża pozwalają uzyskać lepszą odpowiedź impedancyjną.
Sensors are becoming increasingly important every day, especially in applications such as healthcare, medical and veterinary diagnostics, and food quality control, the safety of which is becoming a more important issue worldwide. The present study investigated the critical aspects of the formation of the bioreceptor layer on biosensors and their impedance response for use in pathogen detection in aquaculture. as a result of the studies, conducted with gold substrates of different roughness, a correlation was observed between the degree of development of the au electrode surfaces and formation of the correct bioreceptor layer. These changes were observed on the basis of a wetting angle analysis for selected substrates. Measurements using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed that gold electrodes with lower substrate roughness obtained a better impedance response (nyquist plot). On the basis of a comprehensive analysis of the results, an innovative criterion was developed to evaluate the quality of biosensors at an early stage of their production.

Opis:
Early detection of damage is necessary for the safe and reliable use of civil engineering structures made of concrete. Recently, the identification of micro-cracks in concrete has become an area of growing interest, especially when it comes to using wave-based techniques. In this paper, a non-destructive testing approach for the characterization of the fracture process was presented. Experimental tests were performed on concrete beams subjected to mechanical degradation in a 3-point bending test. Ultrasonic waves were registered on a specimen surface by piezoelectric transducers located at several points. Then, the signals were processed taking advantage of wave scattering due to micro-crack disturbances. For early-stage damage detection, coda wave interferometry was used. The novelty of the work concerns the application of the complex decorrelation matrix and the moving reference trace approach for better distinguishment of sensors located in different parts of a crack zone. To enhance coda wave-based damage identification results, optical imaging of crack development was performed by means of digital image correlation measurement. The results obtained showed that the coda wave interferometry technique can be successfully used as a quantitative measure of changes in the structure of concrete. The results also indicated that the course of decorrelation coefficient curves enabled the identification of three stages during degradation, and it depended on the location of acquisition points versus the crack zone.

The diagnosis of systems is one of the major steps in their control and its purpose is to determine the possible presence of dysfunctions, which affect the sensors and actuators associated with a system but also the internal components of the system itself. On the one hand, the diagnosis must therefore focus on the detection of a dysfunction and, on the other hand, on the physical localization of the dysfunction by specifying the component in a faulty situation, and then on its temporal localization. In this contribution, the emphasis is on the use of software redundancy applied to the detection of anomalies within the measurements collected in the system. The systems considered here are characterized by non-linear behaviours whose model is not known a priori. The proposed strategy therefore focuses on processing the data acquired on the system for which it is assumed that a healthy operating regime is known. Diagnostic procedures usually use this data corresponding to good operating regimes by comparing them with new situations that may contain faults. Our approach is fundamentally different in that the good functioning data allow us, by means of a non-linear prediction technique, to generate a lot of data that reflect all the faults under different excitation situations of the system. The database thus created characterizes the dysfunctions and then serves as a reference to be compared with real situations. This comparison, which then makes it possible to recognize the faulty situation, is based on a technique for evaluating the main angle between subspaces of system dysfunction situations. An important point of the discussion concerns the robustness and sensitivity of fault indicators. In particular, it is shown how, by non-linear combinations, it is possible to increase the size of these indicators in such a way as to facilitate the location of faults.

The paper proposes an original, comprehensive, and methodically consistent graph theory-based approach to the description of the diagnosed process and the diagnosing system. The main baseline of the presented approach is in the dichotomous approach to diagnosing. It involves a separate description of both the process and the diagnostic system. This approach reflects the practice of designing implementable diagnostic systems. Thus, it can be seen as a proposal of a new, alternative, and, at the same time, flexible design procedure with great potential for applications. The primary motivation behind it was an attempt to circumvent the numerous limitations of well-known and well-established diagnosis approaches proposed by the communities working on fault detection and isolation (FDI) and artificial intelligence theories for diagnosis (DX). Accordingly, the paper identifies and provides an extensive discussion and a critical analysis of the existing limitations. Numerous examples and references to practical applications of the approach are indicated.

This research aims to propose an effective model for the detection of defective Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) in the output stage of the Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) line. The emphasis is placed on increasing the classification accuracy, reducing the algorithm training time, and a further improvement of the final product quality. This approach combines a feature extraction technique, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and a classification algorithm, the Support Vector Machine (SVM), with previously applied Automated Optical Inspection (AOI). Different types of SVM algorithms (linear, kernels and weighted) were tuned to get the best accuracy of the resulting algorithm for separating good-quality and defective products. A novel automated defect detection approach for the PCB manufacturing process is proposed. The data from the real PCB manufacturing process were used for this experimental study. The resulting PCALWSVM model achieved 100 % accuracy in the PCB defect detection task. This article proposes a potentially unique model for accurate defect detection in the PCB industry. A combination of PCA and LWSVM methods with AOI technology is an original and effective solution. The proposed model can be used in various manufacturing companies as a postprocessing step for an SMT line with AOI, either for accurate defect detection or for preventing false calls.

Opis:
Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) is a non-conventional material-removal process where a continuously travelling electrically conductive wire is used as an electrode to erode material from a workpiece. To explore its fullest machining potential, there is always a requirement to examine the effects of its varied input parameters on the responses and resolve the best parametric setting. This paper proposes parametric analysis of a WEDM process by applying non-parametric decision tree algorithm, based on a past experimental dataset. Two decision tree-based classification methods, i.e. classification and regression tree (CART) and Chi-squared automatic interaction detection (CHAID) are considered here as the data mining tools to examine the influences of six WEDM process parameters on four responses, and identify the most preferred parametric mix to help in achieving the desired response values. The developed decision trees recognize pulse-on time as the most indicative WEDM process parameter impacting almost all the responses. Furthermore, a comparative analysis on the classification performance of CART and CHAID algorithms demonstrates the superiority of CART with higher overall classification accuracy and lower prediction risk.

In this paper, a new reinforcement learning intrusion detection system is developed for IoT networks incorporated with WSNs. A research is carried out and the proposed model RL-IDS plot is shown, where the detection rate is improved. The outcome shows a decrease in false alarm rates and is compared with the current methodologies. Computational analysis is performed, and then the results are compared with the current methodologies, i.e. distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. The performance of the network is estimated based on security and other metrics.

Criminal analysis in law enforcement agencies’ work has been around for many years. Initially, it was used by police offi cers in a nonformalised way, its main purpose being to try to understand and systematise crimes. Attempts to draw conclusions from the collected data contributed to greater effectiveness of the detection process. Nowadays, the need for effi ciency in processing the increasing amount of data, and the far-reaching professionalisation of criminal groups have resulted in the fact that criminal analysis is no longer a cure-all for a lack of thinking, but an indispensable tool in the effective fi ght against crime. Considering the above, the article presents the need for the effective use of criminal analysis in combatting mainly organised crime of an economic nature.

This study investigates FMECA analysis and its potential use in improving the reliability and maintenance of the thermal deburring machine in a manufacturing company located in Slovakia. In the beginning, an overview of the FMEA/FMECA methods and their utilization for increased reliability are discussed. As a practical solution, the deburring machine EXTRUDE HONE TEM P-350 was chosen. Functions of its systems and components, thermal deburring process, its characteristics and in practice application are described. Maintenance policy in the company and the current state of maintenance of the machine are also presented. In addition, the study includes failure analysis which evaluates the riskiest systems of the machine. One element, hydraulic unit, is a subject for the FMECA analysis which envisions the assessment of the current failure modes using risk priority number (RPN) and proposals of prevention and detection action reducing the level of RPN. The final section focuses on influencing and improving maintenance and summarizing the potential benefits of FMECA Analysis for company and machine operation.

The subject presented in the paper concerns resource conflicts, which are the cause of order violation in multithreaded applications. The work focuses on developing conditions that can be implemented as a tool for allowing to detect these conflicts in the process of static code analysis. The research is based on known errors reported to developers of large applications such as Mozilla Firefox browser and MySQL relational database system. These errors could have been avoided by appropriate monitoring of the source code.

Opis:
The existing regulations impose the obligation to perform random cabin baggage security screening for the presence of traces of explosives (explosive trace detection, ETD) at airports. As a result, a problem arises in relation to the proper organization of security screening checkpoints and the provision of telematic devices used to facilitate the process. The study considered three options a) a dedicated ETD checkpoint, b) ETD screening in all security checkpoints, c) equipping all checkpoints with an explosive detection system (EDS). The purpose of the paper is to propose a mathematical model and conduct a practical evaluation of options concerning security checkpoint modernization in terms of the following criteria: capacity, cost, and efficiency of detecting prohibited substances. An independent evaluation was conducted on the basis of the criteria, considering the analysis of the actual inflow of baggage in individual security checkpoints and the annual costs of equipment and staff, while the efficiency of screening was subjectively evaluated by experts. The proposed mathematical model and the established calculation tool were used to evaluate the options of security checkpoint organization at Katowice Airport. As a result of the conducted analysis, option c) was recommended. This solution showed the best results in terms of capacity and efficiency and generated medium costs.

This article presents an analysis of the possibilities of using image processing methods for feature extraction that allows kNN classification based on a ship’s image delivered from an on-water video surveillance system. The subject of the analysis is the Hough transform which enables the detection of straight lines in an image. The recognized straight lines and the information about them serve as features in the classification process. Above all, this approach allows ships to be recognized, which can then be characterized by a specific representation and shape. Recreational units that are often seen on inland waters were classified correctly using this method. Each analyzed camera image was previously prepared – brought to the form where the ship was visible from the side and the background removed (they were monochromatic – white). The results obtained in this work will allow for the development of the final ship classification method based on camera images. This method is a significant part of the emerging system prototype, which is implemented as part of the Automatic Ship Recognition and Identification (SHREC) project.
