Opis:
Purpose: In dental practice, there is necessary to weld gold with titanium under the conditions of a dental technique laboratory, which is difficult. The aim was to assess the weldability of pure gold with the titanium alloy Ti6Al4V using a prosthetic laser welding machine. Design/methodology/approach: Gold wire in a diameter of 0.4 mm made with the use of a jewellery drawbar (GOLDPORT, Szczecin, Poland) was welded to a titanium alloy Ti6Al4V substrate of dental implant abutment screw (MegaGen). Dental laser welding parameters (Bego Laser Star T plus) were 230 V; 6.5 ms; 2.5 Hz; laser spot 0.3 mm, and argon blow. Samples were included in resin, ground (500-4000 SiC), polished (Al2O3 suspension) and etched (Kroll solution) per 20 s before observation under a light microscope. Findings: There were well-welded and poorly joined zones. The discontinuities and voids there were not visible or sparse next to the initial weld point. Dendritic structure at well-welded remelting zones and two-phase microstructure of titanium and Ti3Au phase were found. The heat-affected zone was about of 20 microns. Research limitations/implications: Light microscopy was used, and precise phase identification required further investigations. Weld strength assessment requires further micro-hardness and load-bearing ability tests. Weldability concerns the model system with pure gold. Practical implications: In the case of elements with dimensions below 0.4 mm, the use of a laser with a smaller spot should be considered for better control of the remelting zone and mechanical positioning of the elements in order to stabilize and avoid discontinuities and voids. Originality/value: Prosthetic laser welding with a laser spot about of 0.3 mm allows to obtain well-welded parts of 0.3 mm in diameter under stable stitching conditions and higher than 0.4 mm in dimensions.

Opis:
The thesis contains macroscopic analysis of the structures of samples of chrome-nickel used in dental technique. Observation of etched samples was conducted by unarmed eye as well as at small magnification, up to 30 times. Macroscopic tests allow for drawing conclusions about the quality of a cast alloy, and in case of occurrence of structural irregularities, they permit identification of the causes for the defects. It was demonstrated that technologically correct structure of casts and correct conduct of technological processes are factors that facilitate obtaining a correct structure of the cast.

selecting colour of teeth

Opis:
Introduction: Aesthetic restorations also hale a significant impact on the success of prosthetic treatment which recreates the proper functioning of the teeth. Suitable aesthetic effect is determined by the appropriate restoration of tooth shape and colour. Selecting the proper colour of artificial teeth is difficult and may suffer from many problems in everyday dentistry. In addition, visual assessment for the help of the unique is subjective and may give erroneous results. On the market there are auxiliary device for the instrumental assessment of the colour of teeth: spectrophotometers, calorimeters, colour analyzers computer. They are not commonly used in everyday medical practice. Goal: The aim of the study is to assess the applicability of Sopro 717 intraoral camera in the correct assessment of the colour of teeth. Methods: The study was conducted based on the evaluation of the natural tooth colour visually using the unique “Lumin - Vacuum” by the patient’s dental and medical students in natural light and using the intraoral camera having their own source of light. The experiment involved 40 people aged 22-46 years. The study was conducted to assess the colour of the surface of the cheek teeth 11 or 21 and 32 Takes into account a number of factors affecting the proper assessment of the colour of teeth such as colour space, light intensity, eye fatigue investigator. Results: The evaluation of the occurrence of differences in colour of the teeth within the two mentioned methods. Conclusions: Intraoral camera helps us to choosing the right colour of the tooth. Although this is still a subjective method allows us to reduce the number of errors made in the selection of the proper shade of hard tissues of the tooth.

Opis:
The irritation potencies of 8 dental polymer products, used as dental restorative materials, adhesives, or temporary constructions, were tested using the HET-CAM (hen's egg test-chorioallantoic membrane) technique. Liquid and powder components, and extracts of cured and freshly mixed non-cured materials of 5 glass ionomers, 1 bonding, 1 composite, and 1 cold-cured acrylate were examined. Results showed that the liquid component of all products had a strong irritation capacity but powder suspensions and extracts from cured and freshly mixed non-cured materials had no effect on the CAM. Thus, dental personnel who handle liquid and powder manually are exposed to components with a high irritation potential, in contrast to patients who are exposed to the cured and mixed non-cured materials with low irritation potential. This illustrates the importance of safe handling procedures and practices for dental personnel who handle non-cured polymers manually.

Opis:
The article has presented the method of 3D Digital Light Processing printing as one of the technologies used for rapid prototyping of dental models and making elements of dentures. in this work the research was presented, which the aim was to determine the effect of additional exposure time on the properties of the obtained printouts. Dynamic Mechanical Analysis test showed significant differences in stiffness between uncured specimens as well as specimens cured for 10, 20 and 30 minutes. in turn the obtained TG and DTG curves allowed to determine the most optimal curing time for DLP printouts. These studies provide the basis for determining the most appropriate method for handling printouts after the process of printing from liquid resin, so that they are the best possible quality for dentists and prosthodontists.
