The present article shows the moulding of the national identity of the Polish, their struggle of independence through the national uprising as well as the literature and the art. The period of a romanticism in Poland is the formation time of a national culture and myths (The Polish Messianism). They will build the mentality of Polish people during next decades. The cultural patterns formed in this period, especially the struggle of freedom and the sovereignty, will go back in the periods of a civil or a political captivity. Untill today is the Polish romanticism - as was shown in the text - an element of the national culture and tradition, which is referenced by artists. In special pieces of the literature of the period became the canon of Polish national literature.

This article deals with recent Danish literature in the light of the discussion about canons occasioned by the publication of the two ministerial canons: Undervisningskanon (Educational Canon, 2004) and Kulturkanon (Cultural Canon, 2006). The article argues that recent Danish literature challenges traditional work categories and the concept of the author on which the two canons are based, and discusses which works and texts in recent Danish literature ought to belong to a future canon.

Instead of a primary fairy tale or canonical fairy tale, the author proposes a concept of a fairy tale module – an imaginary structure consisting of multiple versions of a single fairy tale which functions in various registers of production and reception (traditional culture, written culture, technological culture). The article also contains a discussion of the fairy tale re-narration based on the contemporary texts of culture which modify those fairy tales and which are well-rooted in collective imagination. The fairy tales basically work as constructs whose shape is determined by other texts of culture and various media (literature, film, comic books, etc.). The article also notes the economic dimension of Grimm’s fairy tales which have been present in culture for over 200 years and which still remain subject to constant changes – the fact particularly apparent in the area of popular culture.Keywords: cultural theory, literary theory, fairy-tale theory, genology. postmodernity Abstrakt: W artykule podjęto rozważania na temat problemów związanych z pojęciem kanonu baśniowego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem baśni ze zbioru Wilhelma i Jakuba Grimmów Kinder- und Hausmärchen. Celem tekstu jest przedstawienie propozycji badawczej, która na miejsce baśni pierwotnej czy też baśni kanonicznej proponuje pojęcie wzorca baśniowego – struktury wyobrażeniowej ukształtowanej na podstawie różnych wersji jednej baśni, funkcjonującej w różnych rejestrach nadawczych i odbiorczych (kultura tradycyjna, kultura pisma, kultura technologiczna). Ponadto, w artykule znajduje się omówienie zjawiska baśniowej renarracji na podstawie współczesnych tekstów kultury, które modyfikują doskonale zakorzenione w masowej wyobraźni baśnie. This essay aims to interconnect the aspects of canon, cultural musicology, music and language with the systematic category of dispositif. In a short overview on the disciplinary canon debate, the essay describes the idea of a musical canon and questions its methodological status in musicology. The conclusion is that (aesthetic) value judgements are to be rejected as scientific (consequently rational or intersubjectively reasonable) selection criteria. The second argument draws on Lawrence Kramer’s notion of “constructive description”, which addresses the relation of music and language and helps in understanding the canon as a specific historical agency of different overlapping discourses. In order to outline an integrative ontology for the epistemological interest of cultural musicology, the last section synthesises these arguments in the Foucauldian idea of dispositif.

Jan Paweł II przez 27 lat pontyfikatu sprawował władzę nad Patrimonium Ecclesiae, które stanowi znaczącą część ogólnoludzkiego dziedzictwa kultury. Na forum międzynarodowym zabiegał o upowszechnienie idei oraz wartości humanistycznych i personalistycznych kultury. W dziedzinie legislacyjnej uaktualnił kodyfikację prawa kanonicznego ochrony zabytków sakralnych. W zakresie administracji utworzył autonomiczną instytucję odpowiedzialną za zachowanie i krzewienie dziedzictwa kościelnego. Rozwinął teologię sztuki oraz twórczości artystycznej. Prowadził twórczy dialog z artystami oraz promował dziedzictwo sakralne w całym świecie. Wpisał się złotymi zgłoskami w poczet papieży, którzy zachowywali nie tylko dziedzictwo sakralne, ale także zabytki antyczne oraz liczne dzieła świeckie.
For the 27 years of his pontificate John Paul II exercised control over Patrimonium Ecclesiae, which is a substantial part of human cultural heritage. In the international forum he struggled to propagate the humanistic and personalistic ideas and values of culture. In the field of legislation he updated the codification of canon law concerning protection of historical sacred monuments. In the field of administration he created an autonomous institution responsible for maintaining and propagating church heritage. He developed the theology of art and artistic work. He conducted a creative dialogue with artists and promoted the sacred heritage throughout the world. His name is immortalized among the popes who maintained not only the sacred heritage, but also the monuments of antiquity and numerous works of secular art.

The notion of canon is analysed from two perspectives. In the first part, the author interprets canon as an ideological foundation and investigates the influence of such a structure on the problem of digital preservation. In the second part, the mechanical application of canon (understood as overarching narrative structure) is examined. The discussion focuses on the analysis of attempts at reconciling this fixed structure with the necessity to introduce interactivity, an innate characteristic of the medium in question. The author does not encourage or discourage any attempts to form a video game canon; he is rather interested in the actual results and reasons for forming such constructs. W części drugiej, autor przyjrzy się kanonowi z perspektywy mechanicznej, jako nadrzędnej strukturze narracyjnej. Dyskusja skupi się na analizie prób pogodzenia sztywnych ram wyznaczonych przez kanon z koniecznością wprowadzenia interakcji, charakterystycznej dla omawianego medium. Wnioski płynące z przedstawionych tu rozważań mają raczej na celu zwrócenie uwagi na specyfikę medium rozrywki interaktywnej i, być może, będą mogły przyczynić się do lepszego zrozumienia tematyki kanonu w szerszej perspektywie dóbr kultury współczesnej. Tematem artykułu jest poznawanie i upowszechnianie kultury innych narodów i kręgów cywilizacyjnych na przykładzie muzyki poważnej w kontekście bezpieczeństwa kulturowego. Poczucie bezpieczeństwa kulturowego, trudne do osiągnięcia w zmieniającym się świecie, nie jest możliwe bez otwartości na Innego, które z kolei nie może zaistnieć, gdy brak uznania wartości własnej kultury. Wychodząc z tego założenia, autorka analizuje działalność wybranych orkiestr symfonicznych i festiwali muzyki współczesnej w Polsce i za granicą (w Europie i poza nią). Ten wycinek życia kulturalnego pozwala na dostrzeżenie ciekawych zjawisk, związanych z tradycją, przyzwyczajeniami słuchaczy, społecznymi oczekiwaniami wobec instytucji kultury, różnicami międzykulturowymi. This article considersprocesses of exploring and popularising the culture of other nations and civilisations through the example of classical music in the context of cultural safety. The sense of cultural safety, difficult in a changing world, is not possible without openness to the Other, which, in turn, cannot be obtained without appreciating one’s own culture’s values. Taking this line, the author analyses the activity of selected concert halls and contemporary music festivals in Poland and abroad (in Europe and outside). These cultural events manifest various interesting phenomena related to tradition, listeners’ customs, social expectations towards cultural institutions, cross-cultural differences, etc. The performance and perception of a musical piece are communicative acts. Given the right circumstances, they make it possible to come closer to the Other and get to know Him/Her.

Artykuł jest próbą krytycznej interpretacji tekstów autorstwa Leona Dyczewskiego podejmujących zagadnienie relacji między kulturą narodową, kulturą europejską, tożsamością kulturową i wielokulturowością. Artykuł rozpoczyna charakterystyka koncepcji kultury europejskiej Leona Dyczewskiego wraz z kanonem wartości europejskich. Następnie zaprezentowana została analiza zjawiska wielokulturowości w nowoczesnych społeczeństwach. Wielokulturowość jest rozumiana jako cecha środowiska społeczno-kulturowego, które odzwierciedla jego wewnętrzną złożoność i zróżnicowanie (dzięki czynnikom kulturowym, antropologicznym, psychologicznym i socjologicznym). Artykuł kończy charakterystyka pojęcia domowej wielokulturowości medialnej.
The article presents an attempt to critical interpret texts written by Leon Dyczewski discusing issues of the relationships between the national culture, European culture, national identity and multiculturalism. The article begins with the descriptions of the Dyczewski’s concept of the European culture with the canon of the European values. Subsequently was presented the review of the phenomenon of multiculturalism in the modern societies. Multiculturalism is understood as a feature of the socio-cultural environment, which mirrors its internal complexity and diversity (due to the cultural, anthropological, psychological and sociological factors). The article ends the characteristic the notion of the multiculturalism from the media in home.

The aim of the article is to present the scale and characteristics of the phenomenon of church marriages by Poles who migrated to England and Wales. The phenomenon of heterogamous relationships has grown over the last several decades due to factors such as the expansion of the community of European Union member states, globalization processes, and the resulting diversity of the population of migrants. The article is focused mainly on religious mixed marriages. The empirical material consisted of data from the records of the largest organization of the Polish community in Britain. The authors analysed the data of 25,530 marriages of Poles living in England and Wales, registered between 2007 and 2020, including 2,922 mixed religions marriages.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the role modern apocrypha play in the processes of collective remembering. From the perspective of cultural studies the modern apocrypha can be seen not only as literary or religious texts but also as an important element of cultural autocommunication. And if we understand autocommunication as a crucial mechanism of cultural memory, we can describe intertextuality (which is a form of cultural autocommunication) as an autoimmune technique of preventing the basic cultural meanings from the oblivion. The canon is a basic tool of collective memory in the so called ‘literate cultures’ or ‘Cultures of the Book’. That is the reason why the apocrypha, which deal with canonical contents, build the unique set of texts playing an essential role in protecting the source myth and tradition from the ‘semiotic death’.

Taniec charakteryzuje się słabiej bądź mocniej skonwencjonalizowanymi formami scenicznymi, jak np. tańce narodowe każdego niemal państwa na świecie. Przekazywane międzypokoleniowo stanowią dziedzictwo danego narodu i podlegają dalszej transmisji. Niniejszy tekst traktuje polskie tańce narodowe jako element dziedzictwa niematerialnego kultury. Opisuje proces kształtowania się kanonu tańców w wersji scenicznej w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym i powojennej Polsce; ma na celu zwrócenie uwagi na systematyzowanie się tej dziedziny. To proces powstały dzięki środowisku artystów-tancerzy w Polsce, choreografom i pedagogom tańca, ale również muzykom, badaczom i etnografom. Szczególną uwagę skupiono na Henryku Dudzie – choreografie, który odegrał ważną rolę w procesie ustalania kanonu polskich tańców narodowych. Ponieważ na jego działalność mieli wpływ inni, szczególnie pedagożki i choreografki, w pracy zostały przedstawione także ich sylwetki. Dobre praktyki poprzedniczek i osobowość Henryka Dudy jako depozytariuszy stanowią przykład dobrego modelu ochrony dziedzictwa tańców narodowych.
Dance can display more or less conventionalized stage forms, such as the national dances of almost every country in the world. Passed down generations, they are the heritage of nations and are subject to further transmission. This text treats Polish national dances as an element of intangible cultural heritage. It describes the formation of the canon of dances in their stage version in the interwar and post-war Poland while it aims to point out the systematisation of this field. The process was managed by artists-dancers in Poland, choreographers and dance educators, but also musicians, researchers and ethnographers. Particular attention is focused on Henryk Duda, a choreographer, who played an important role in establishing the canon of Polish national dances. However, as his work was influenced by others, especially female pedagogues and choreographers, the work also presents their profiles. The good practices of their predecessors and the personality of Henryk Duda as holders of tradition provide an example of a good model for the preservation of the heritage of national dances.

Tekst wskazuje na zależność myślenia o edukacji humanistycznej od znaczeń nadawanych pojęciom humanizm, humanitaryzm, humanistyka. Akcentuje przy tym absurdy charakteryzujące polską szkołę współczesną. Konkluzja obejmuje jeden zasadniczy wniosek i jeden równie zasadniczy postulat: (1) kultywowanie dziewiętnastowiecznej z ducha edukacyjnej tradycji w zderzeniu z cywilizacyjno-kulturowym kontekstem współczesności prowadzi do intelektualnej katastrofy na pokolenia w przód, (2) o naprawie sytuacji nie ma mowy bez gruntownego przepracowania idei szkoły i de facto wymyślenia jej na nowo.
The text clearly indicates that thinking about humanistic education largely depends on the meanings given to such terms as humanism, humanitarianism, humanities  and the paradoxes which may arise if these terms are confused. At the same time, it emphasizes the absurdity of the contemporary Polish school. The conclusion includes one essential inference and one equally essential postulate: (1) cultivating the nineteenth century spirit of educational tradition, which collides with the modern civilization and cultural context leads to an intellectual catastrophe for generations to come, (2) The situation cannot possibly be rectified unless some fundamental changes are made to the present school concept, in fact, unless it is re-imagined or reinvented.

The presented article is a discussion of biographies of 13 subsequent provosts of the monastery of Canons Regular of Lateran of Krakow Congregation, at the Corpus Christi church in Kazimierz district. The author of the chronicle, father Stefan Ranatowicz, lived in the years 1617-1694, in Kazimierz near Krakow, where he learned at the parish school at the Corpus Christi church and studied at the Krakow Academy (in the years 1635-1636). In the autumn of 1636, he joined the congregation of Canons Regular of Lateran. He was one of the leading historiographers of his order. His most important work is the Chronicle with the Latin title: Casimiriae civitatis, urbi Cracoviensi confrontatae, origo. In eaque ecclesiarum erectiones et religiosorum fundationes, nec non series, vitae, res gestae praepositorum Conventus Canonicorum Regularium Lateranensium S[ancti] Augustini ad Ecclesiam S[acratis]S[imi] Corporis Christi descriptae a Stephano Ranothowicz eiusdem conventus et Ecclesiae Canonico Regul[ari] professo. Its main section contains biographies of provosts of the Krakow monastery, from Konrad Aleman to Wiktoryn Wereszczyński. Apart from topics related directly with monastic matters, the author also discussed many issues relating to daily, religious, as well as cultural life of Kazimierz and Krakow, and also often mentioned social and economic matters concerning also the entire Polish State.
