Na forum międzynarodowym zabiegał o upowszechnienie idei oraz wartości humanistycznych i personalistycznych kultury. W dziedzinie legislacyjnej uaktualnił kodyfikację prawa kanonicznego ochrony zabytków sakralnych. W zakresie administracji utworzył autonomiczną instytucję odpowiedzialną za zachowanie i krzewienie dziedzictwa kościelnego. Rozwinął teologię sztuki oraz twórczości artystycznej. Prowadził twórczy dialog z artystami oraz promował dziedzictwo sakralne w całym świecie. Wpisał się złotymi zgłoskami w poczet papieży, którzy zachowywali nie tylko dziedzictwo sakralne, ale także zabytki antyczne oraz liczne dzieła świeckie.
For the 27 years of his pontificate John Paul II exercised control over Patrimonium Ecclesiae, which is a substantial part of human cultural heritage. In the international forum he struggled to propagate the humanistic and personalistic ideas and values of culture. In the field of legislation he updated the codification of canon law concerning protection of historical sacred monuments. In the field of administration he created an autonomous institution responsible for maintaining and propagating church heritage. He developed the theology of art and artistic work. He conducted a creative dialogue with artists and promoted the sacred heritage throughout the world. His name is immortalized among the popes who maintained not only the sacred heritage, but also the monuments of antiquity and numerous works of secular art.

Opis:: The significant growth in the number of Ukrainian s tudents at Polish institutions of higher education has significantly changed the face of academic education in this country. The existing model of higher education mostly based , especially in smaller centres, on studies of a single nation has been evolving over a t least several years in the direction of a bi- or multicultural model. Ukrainians currently constitute the largest group of minority students in Polish institutions of higher education , which affects social attitudes perceptible in the academic environment, arouses interest in th e Other or evokes negative cultural ste- reotypes and prejudice. In the context of these cha nges, key questions arise about the mo- bility of Ukrainian students to Poland, which can b e addressed in the following research questions: What are the motives of Ukrainian studen ts coming to Poland? Will Ukrainian graduates remain in Poland and be assimilated, or w ill the higher professional qualifica- tions earned help many Ukrainians with Polish degre es to build a new social, economic and cultural order? What is the structure of education for a Ukrainian student – one based on the domi- nance of one cultural canon or one that shows cultu ral diversity? Included these visible changes at Polish universiti es were also programmes in “Art Ed- ucation in the Musical Arts”, including those condu cted in the Institute of Music at the Pomeranian Academy in Słupsk. Since 2014, this inst itution and institute have offered “semester exchange” and “double degree” programmes for students from Ukrainian insti- tutions, and many Ukrainians have chosen Słupsk as the place for the full programme of their music and pedagogical studies. The theoretical section of the article is divided i nto three parts: 1. Academic mobility - in which select literature o n the situation of students pursuing their education abroad is discussed. At the foregro und of these discussions are the problems of students’ adaptation to a new, cultural ly foreign environment. Also con- sidered are the perceived difficulties in studying in the chosen field, as well as the question of the declared strength of the desire of Ukrainian students to emigrate to a new country, understood in the perspective of their car eer development in the profession. 2. Students from Ukraine pursuing studies in music and pedagogy form a certain image of their future professional employment, namely as a music teacher at school. There- fore, the focus of this article is the analysis of different models of this profession and their integration with the interests and musical ac tivities they engage in. Another area of the literature analysis, underta ken in order to learn about the changes in the consciousness of Ukrainian students, is the subject of shaping their individual cultural image, based on the dominance of their nat ive cultural canon, which then un- dergoes an inevitable process of acculturation. In this aspect, it is important to esti- mate how much they have learned and their ability t o recognize another cultural tra- dition, as well as to acquire the competence to dea l with the history of Polish culture and its most outstanding works in the musical, visu al, architectural and literary arts. The research variables identified in the theoretica l part of the article were then the main inspiration for the survey research, included in th e second part of the article, in which Ukrainian students, answering the questions in the survey, declared their attitudes toward selected phenomena in which they participate, made a self-assessment of their assimilation of the Polish cultural canon in the context of the previous canon of their native Ukrainian culture, declared their professional preferences, o riented towards performing the future work of a music teacher according to a defined model.

The author does not encourage or discourage any attempts to form a video game canon; he is rather interested in the actual results and reasons for forming such constructs. Kanon będzie tu postrzegany z dwóch perspektyw. W pierwszej części, autor interpretuje kanon jako fundament ideologiczny i bada wpływ takiej struktury na problematykę zachowania dóbr kultury cyfrowej. W części drugiej, autor przyjrzy się kanonowi z perspektywy mechanicznej, jako nadrzędnej strukturze narracyjnej. Dyskusja skupi się na analizie prób pogodzenia sztywnych ram wyznaczonych przez kanon z koniecznością wprowadzenia interakcji, charakterystycznej dla omawianego medium. Ważnym jest by zaznaczyć, że autor nie podejmuje się tutaj obrony konieczności istnienia kanonu gier, ale też nie nawołuje do zaprzestania prób jego formowania. Wnioski płynące z przedstawionych tu rozważań mają raczej na celu zwrócenie uwagi na specyfikę medium rozrywki interaktywnej i, być może, będą mogły przyczynić się do lepszego zrozumienia tematyki kanonu w szerszej perspektywie dóbr kultury współczesnej. Opis:: The aim of this paper is to analyze the role modern apocrypha play in the processes of collective remembering. From the perspective of cultural studies the modern apocrypha can be seen not only as literary or religious texts but also as an important element of cultural autocommunication. And if we understand autocommunication as a crucial mechanism of cultural memory, we can describe intertextuality (which is a form of cultural autocommunication) as an autoimmune technique of preventing the basic cultural meanings from the oblivion. The canon is a basic tool of collective memory in the so called ‘literate cultures’ or ‘Cultures of the Book’. That is the reason why the apocrypha, which deal with canonical contents, build the unique set of texts playing an essential role in protecting the source myth and tradition from the ‘semiotic death’.

Opis:: The aim of this paper is to analyze the phenomenon of modern apocrypha from the perspective of cultural studies. The term ‘apocrypha’ is usually associated with early Christian and Gnostic texts, but the tradition of unorthodox writings is also continued in modern Western culture. It is not easy to formulate a comprehensive definition of apocrypha by analyzing this phenomenon only from the perspective of literary, historical and religious studies. The phenomenon of apocrypha is so complex that it should be described based on a kind of methodological bricolage. This method should allow one to understand the role that apocrypha play in modern culture. Many scholars have noticed that it is not possible to point to clear and obvious criteria that would allow us to assign a given text to the category of apocryphal writings. Most typologies of texts which are epistemologically valuable and which help scholars to identify certain features of apocryphal writings do not take into consideration the cultural qualities of non-canonical, unorthodox narratives. From the perspective of cultural studies, modern apocrypha can be seen not only as literary or religious texts but also as an important element of cultural autocommunication. As an element of cultural metacognition, apocrypha can also be regarded as a medium of cultural memory and collective identity.

Opis:: Artykuł jest poświęcony zbadaniu motywów cyklu Dramaty o Wielkich jako całości dość złożonej i wielopoziomowej, gdyż Wałerij Herasymczuk pracuje w różnych strategiach dramatu biograficznego. Wybrany kierunek badań wydaje się właściwy z punktu widzenia różnych modeli współczesnej biografii dramaturgicznej, komponentów jej formy i treści. Uwaga badaczek skupia się na procesie nowego przeformatowania ukraińskiego kanonu kulturowo-historycznego. Wałerij Herasymczuk portretuje postaci metropolity Andrzeja Szeptyckiego, pisarza i scenarzysty Oleksandra Dowżenki, historyka Dmytra Jawornickiego, pisarza Antona Czechowa czy sympatyzującego z Ukrainą malarza Ilji Riepina. Na przykładzie dwu ostatnich dramaturg wyrażą ważną ideę – powrotuetnicznych Ukraińców zawłaszczonych przez kulturę imperialną do ukraińskiego panteonu. W ten sposób przypomina ukraińskiemu czytelnikowi/widzowi, że kanon narodowy nie ogranicza się do znanych nazwisk, zachęca do lektury, aby dowiedzieć się więcej o przeszłości i bohaterach narodowych.
The article is devoted to revealing the motive complex of the cycle Plays about the Great. Valeriy Herasymchuk works using different strategies of biographical drama, which he thus considers as a complicated and multilevel system. The course is interested in different models of modern dramatic biography, its formal and semantic components. The authors focus on the process of reformatting the Ukrainian cultural and historical canon. The personages of Andrei Sheptytskyi, the writer and screenwriter Oleksandr Dovzhenko, historian Dmytro Yavornytskyi, and the Russian writers Anton Chekhov and Illia Repin (who felt favourably toward Ukraine) all gained the attention of Valeriy Herasymchuk. Thus the playwright established a very important aim, namely using the images of Anton Chekhov and Illia Repin to return ethnical Ukrainians, who were possessed by imperial culture, back to the Ukrainian pantheon. The author reminds the Ukrainian reader/viewer that the national canon is not limited to well-known names, and encourages them to read and learn more about the past and national heroes.

Opis:: Tekst wskazuje na zależność myślenia o edukacji humanistycznej od znaczeń nadawanych pojęciom humanizm, humanitaryzm, humanistyka. Akcentuje przy tym absurdy charakteryzujące polską szkołę współczesną. Konkluzja obejmuje jeden zasadniczy wniosek i jeden równie zasadniczy postulat: (1) kultywowanie dziewiętnastowiecznej z ducha edukacyjnej tradycji w zderzeniu z cywilizacyjno-kulturowym kontekstem współczesności prowadzi do intelektualnej katastrofy na pokolenia w przód, (2) o naprawie sytuacji nie ma mowy bez gruntownego przepracowania idei szkoły i de facto wymyślenia jej na nowo.
The text clearly indicates that thinking about humanistic education largely depends on the meanings given to such terms as humanism, humanitarianism, humanities and the paradoxes which may arise if these terms are confused. At the same time, it emphasizes the absurdity of the contemporary Polish school. The conclusion includes one essential inference and one equally essential postulate: (1) cultivating the nineteenth century spirit of educational tradition, which collides with the modern civilization and cultural context leads to an intellectual catastrophe for generations to come, (2) The situation cannot possibly be rectified unless some fundamental changes are made to the present school concept, in fact, unless it is re-imagined or reinvented.

Instead of a primary fairy tale or canonical fairy tale, the author proposes a concept of a fairy tale module – an imaginary structure consisting of multiple versions of a single fairy tale which functions in various registers of production and reception (traditional culture, written culture, technological culture). The article also contains a discussion of the fairy tale re-narration based on the contemporary texts of culture which modify those fairy tales and which are well-rooted in collective imagination. The fairy tales basically work as constructs whose shape is determined by other texts of culture and various media (literature, film, comic books, etc.). The article also notes the economic dimension of Grimm’s fairy tales which have been present in culture for over 200 years and which still remain subject to constant changes – the fact particularly apparent in the area of popular culture.Keywords: cultural theory, literary theory, fairy-tale theory, genology. postmodernity Abstrakt: W artykule podjęto rozważania na temat problemów związanych z pojęciem kanonu baśniowego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem baśni ze zbioru Wilhelma i Jakuba Grimmów Kinder- und Hausmärchen. Celem tekstu jest przedstawienie propozycji badawczej, która na miejsce baśni pierwotnej czy też baśni kanonicznej proponuje pojęcie wzorca baśniowego – struktury wyobrażeniowej ukształtowanej na podstawie różnych wersji jednej baśni, funkcjonującej w różnych rejestrach nadawczych i odbiorczych (kultura tradycyjna, kultura pisma, kultura technologiczna). Ponadto, w artykule znajduje się omówienie zjawiska baśniowej renarracji na podstawie współczesnych tekstów kultury, które modyfikują doskonale zakorzenione w masowej wyobraźni baśnie. Baśnie funkcjonują przede wszystkim jako konstrukty, na których kształt mają wpływ również inne teksty kultury i różne kanały ich przyswajania (literatura, film, komiks, itd.). [for abstract in Polish scroll down]Kamila KowalczykInstitute of PolishFaculty of PhilologyUniversity of WrocławPoland Is Everyone Familiar with Hansel and Gretel?The Issue of Fairy Tale Canon on the Example of the Fairy Tales from the Kinder- und Hausmärchen Collection by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm Abstract: The article considers the problems connected with the idea of fairy tale canon, with attention to the fairy tales from the Kinder- und Hausmärchen (Children’s and Household Tales) collection by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. Instead of a primary fairy tale or canonical fairy tale, the author proposes a concept of a fairy tale module – an imaginary structure consisting of multiple versions of a single fairy tale which functions in various registers of production and reception (traditional culture, written culture, technological culture). The article also contains a discussion of the fairy tale re-narration based on the contemporary texts of culture which modify those fairy tales and which are well-rooted in collective imagination. The fairy tales basically work as constructs whose shape is determined by other texts of culture and various media (literature, film, comic books, etc.). The article also notes the economic dimension of Grimm’s fairy tales which have been present in culture for over 200 years and which still remain subject to constant changes – the fact particularly apparent in the area of popular culture.Keywords: cultural theory, literary theory, fairy-tale theory, genology. postmodernity Abstrakt: W artykule podjęto rozważania na temat problemów związanych z pojęciem kanonu baśniowego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem baśni ze zbioru Wilhelma i Jakuba Grimmów Kinder- und Hausmärchen. Opis:: The aim of the article is to present the scale and characteristics of the phenomenon of church marriages by Poles who migrated to England and Wales. The phenomenon of heterogamous relationships has grown over the last several decades due to factors such as the expansion of the community of European Union member states, globalization processes, and the resulting diversity of the population of migrants. The article is focused mainly on religious mixed marriages. The empirical material consisted of data from the records of the largest organization of the Polish community in Britain. The authors analysed the data of 25,530 marriages of Poles living in England and Wales, registered between 2007 and 2020, including 2,922 mixed religions marriages.

Адзначаецца, што лiтаратурны канон выступае ў якасцi стратэгii культурнай iдэнтычнасцi, адной з дзейсных форм i важнай умовай складання культурнага сiмвалiчнага свету сэнсаў, фундзiруемага агульнакультурнымi каштоўнасцямi челавецтва. Сцвярджаецца, што гiсторыка-культурныя, мастацкiя, анталагiчныя, быцiйныя каштоўнасцi i сэнсы, эксплiцiраваныя ў паэтычным каноне Максiма Багдановiча, ставалiся важной часткай духоўнага вымярэння, культурнай iнтэграцыi, гарманiзацыi сацыяльных адносiн. Адметнай асаблiвасцю звароту паэта да кананiчнай мастацкай формы прызнаецца замацаванне за ёй ролi сiмвалiчнага кансалiдзiруючага знака-рэфэрэнта, якi мусiць фармiраваць «культурную свядомасць», прывiваць пачуццё агульнага эстэтызававанага этнакультурнага адзiнства, служыць сродкам духоўнай iнтэграцыi i нацыянальнай кансалiдацыi грамадства.
W artykule omówiono rolę kanonu literackiego w estetycznej samoidentyfikacji narodowej. Posłużono się przykładem twórczości klasyka literatury białoruskiej Maksyma Bogdanowicza. Autor zwrócił uwagę na fakt, iż kanon literacki funkcjonuje jako strategia tożsamości kulturowej, jednej z najbardziej skutecznych form i ważnych warunków budowania symbolicznego świata zmysłów z wykorzystaniem wartości wyznawanych przez ludzi. Stwierdził również, że znaczenia historyczno-kulturowe, twórcze, ontologiczne, egzystencjalne objaśniane w poetyckim kanonie Maksyma Bogdanowicza były ważną częścią wymiaru duchowego, interpretacji kulturowej, koordynowania relacji społecznych. Szczególną cechą zwrócenia się poety w kierunku kanonicznej formie twórczej jest powierzenie jej roli symbolicznego znaku referencyjnego, którego celem jest tworzenie „świadomości kulturowej”, rozwijanie poczucia jedności etnokulturowej, służenie jako środek interpretacji duchowej i narodowej konsolidacji społeczeństwa.
On the example of works of the classic of Belarusian literature Maksim Bogdanovich, the role of literary canon in aesthetic self-identification of national literature has been investigated. It is emphasized that the literary canon acts as a strategy of cultural identity, one of the effective forms, and important conditions of formation of the cultural symbolic world of meanings established by the general cultural values of humankind. It is stated that historical, cultural, artistic, ontological, existential values and meanings explicated in the poetic canon of Maksim Bogdanovich became an important part of spiritual dimension, cultural integration, coordination of social relations. A distinctive feature of the poet’s appeal to the canonical art form is represented by the role of a symbolic consolidating referential sign designed to form a “cultural consciousness”, to instill the sense of general aesthetized ethnocultural unity, to serve as a means of spiritual integration and national consolidation of society.

Opis:: The present article shows the moulding of the national identity of the Polish, their struggle of independence through the national uprising as well as the literature and the art. The period of a romanticism in Poland is the formation time of a national culture and myths (The Polish Messianism). They will build the mentality of Polish people during next decades. The cultural patterns formed in this period, especially the struggle of freedom and the sovereignty, will go back in the periods of a civil or a political captivity. Untill today is the Polish romanticism - as was shown in the text - an element of the national culture and tradition, which is referenced by artists. In special pieces of the literature of the period became the canon of Polish national literature.

Opis:: The presented article is a discussion of biographies of 13 subsequent provosts of the monastery of Canons Regular of Lateran of Krakow Congregation, at the Corpus Christi church in Kazimierz district. The author of the chronicle, father Stefan Ranatowicz, lived in the years 1617-1694, in Kazimierz near Krakow, where he learned at the parish school at the Corpus Christi church and studied at the Krakow Academy (in the years 1635-1636). In the autumn of 1636, he joined the congregation of Canons Regular of Lateran. He was one of the leading historiographers of his order. His most important work is the Chronicle with the Latin title: Casimiriae civitatis, urbi Cracoviensi confrontatae, origo. In eaque ecclesiarum erectiones et religiosorum fundationes, nec non series, vitae, res gestae praepositorum Conventus Canonicorum Regularium Lateranensium S[ancti] Augustini ad Ecclesiam S[acratis]S[imi] Corporis Christi descriptae a Stephano Ranothowicz eiusdem conventus et Ecclesiae Canonico Regul[ari] professo. Its main section contains biographies of provosts of the Krakow monastery, from Konrad Aleman to Wiktoryn Wereszczyński. Apart from topics related directly with monastic matters, the author also discussed many issues relating to daily, religious, as well as cultural life of Kazimierz and Krakow, and also often mentioned social and economic matters concerning also the entire Polish State.
