Opis:
An experimental study has been done into the effects of vertical mechanical vibrating, vertical eccentricity, and the Rayleigh number on natural convection heat transferring out of a horizontally enclosed, ending cylindrical annulus with a radius rate of 2.6 and an aspect ratio of (2:1). The annulus produced between two concentric and vertically eccentric circular cylinders is positioned horizontally, and its internal wall is uniformly heated while isothermally cooling the external wall. The range of present conditions for Rayleigh number is 5×10^4 ≤ Ra≤ 6.48×10^6, and Pr = 0.703, the frequency of vibration is 0 ≤ f ≤ 20Hz; and the amplitude is b mm), with possible exclusion of the highest positive and negative eccentricities. Plots of the average Nusselt number variation against the Rayleigh number showed a significant increase in negative vertical eccentricity. It was found that the average Nusselt decreased as the internal cylinder changed its location vertically from negative to positive through the center, which is normally a desirable effect, but has no advantage over the concentric on the positive side. The Rayleigh number was found to be relatively sensitive to eccentricity. However, an increase of Rayleigh number leads to a nearly proportional increase in the average Nusselt number and a smaller yet still substantial increase in positive eccentricity. This study concluded that the vibration under the current experimental setup significantly affects the concentric position of the internal cylinder, whether the effect is positive or negative. The vibrational average Nusselt number increased in varying proportions, depending on the location of the heated inner cylinder.

Opis:
The present study explores magnetic nanoliquid mixed convection in a double lid–driven U-shaped enclosure with discrete heat-ing using the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) numerical method. The nanoliquid thermal conductivity and viscosity are calculated using the Maxwell and Brinkman models respectively. Nanoliquid magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) and mixed convection are analyzed and entropy generation minimisation has been studied. The presented results for isotherms, stream isolines and entropy generation describe the interaction between the various physical phenomena inherent to the problem including the buoyancy, magnetic and shear forces. The operating parameters’ ranges are: Reynolds number (Re: 1–100), Hartman number (Ha: 0–80), magnetic field inclination (γ: 0°–90°), nanoparticles volume fraction (ϕ: 0–0.04) and inclination angle (α: 0°–90°). It was found that the and the total entropy generation augment by increasing Re, ϕ: and γ. conversely, an opposite effect was obtained by increasing Ha and α. The optimum magnetic field and cavity inclination angles to maximum heat transfer are γ = 90° and α = 0.

Opis:
This investigations covers the numerical analysis of a steady biomagnetic fluid flow (BFD) that passed through a two dimensional stretching sheet under the influence of magnetic dipole. The effect of fluid variable viscosity and thermal conductivity are also taken into consideration as assumed to vary as linear function of temperature. Our model mathematically formulated for BFD namely blood which consist of principles of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) and ferrohydrodynamic (FHD), where blood treated as an electrically conducting fluid as well as polarization. Using similarity transformations, the governing system of partial differential equations are transferred into system of ordinary differential equations (ODE). The resulting coupled non linear ODE is numerically solved by employing bvp4c function technique available in MATLAB software. The effects of pertinent parameters namely ferromagnetic interaction parameter, magnetic field parameter, mixed convection parameter, viscosity variation parameter, Prandtl number, thermal conductivity parameter etc are plotted and discussed adequately for velocity and temperature profile as well as skin friction coefficient and rate of heat transfer. The results revels that velocity profile decreases as enhanced values of ferromagnetic number whereas temperature profile increased. Also found that skin friction coefficient reduces and rate of heat transfer increases by increasing values of thermal conductivity parameter and viscosity variation parameter. For numerical validation a comparisons has been made for some specific values with previous investigators. We hope that the present analysis will present in bio-medical and bio-engineering sciences.

The main aim of this paper is to improve the heat transfer in a square cavity with a body at the left wall filled with a Al2O3/water nanofluid for different geometries. Numerous simulation experiments are conducted. A relative temperature is maintained at the vertical and top horizontal walls while the bottom wall is warm. The finite volume approach is considered to resolve the equations governing the thermal transfer flow in the physical domain based on the SIMPLER algorithm. In this study, different values of the following parameters are considered: Rayleigh number (104 ≤ Ra ≤ 105) and solid volume fraction (0 ≤ φ ≤ 0.1) of nanoparticles (NPs). Parameters, such as the Rayleigh (Ra) and Bejan (Be) numbers, thermal conductivity, body’s dimensions, and NPs volume fraction, which directly affect the entropy generation and heat transfer rate, are studied in a particular way. The obtained results show that entropy generation goes ahead with the Ra increase and inverse to the solid volume fraction increase. One can notice that the heat transfer has a proportional relation with φ and Ra.

The present work comprises a numerical analysis using the Ansys program to solve the problem of combined free-forced convection around a circular cylinder located in a horizontal lid-driven trapezoidal enclosure. The enclosure is filled with water. The upper moving wall and lower fixed wall are cold at a constant temperature, whereas the inclined walls are adiabatically insulated. The uniformly heated cylinder is located at different positions in the cavity. The study covers three values of Richardson number (0.01, 1, and 10). The results show that the streamlines and isotherms in the enclosure, the Nusselt number and friction factor in the moving wall, hot wall and bottom wall are strongly dependent on the position of the inner hot cylinder. The results are validated with previous work, and the comparison gives good agreement.

Opis:
Laminar mixed convection heat transfer in a vented square cavity separated by a porous layer filled with different nanofluids (Fe3O4, Cu, Ag and Al2O3) has been investigated numerically. The governing equations of mixed convection flow for a Newtonian nanofluid are assumed to be two-dimensional, steady and laminar. These equations are solved numerically by using the finite volume technique. The effects of significant parameters such as the Reynolds number (10 ≤ Re ≤ 1000), Grashof number (103 ≤ Gr ≤ 106 ), nanoparticle volume fraction (0.1 ≤ φ ≤ 0.6), porous layer thickness (0 ≤ γ ≤ 1) and porous layer position (0.1 ≤ δ ≤ 0.9) are studied. Numerical simulation details are visualized in terms of streamline, isotherm contours, and average Nusselt number along the heated source. It has been shown that variations in Reynolds and Darcy numbers have an impact on the flow pattern and heat transfer within a cavity. For higher Reynolds (Re > 100), Grashof (Gr > 105 ) numbers and nanoparticles volume fractions the heat transfer rate is enhanced and it is optimal at lower values of Darcy number (Da = 10−5 ). In addition, it is noticed that the porous layer thickness and location have a significant effect on the control of the heat transfer rate inside the cavity. Furthermore, it is worth noticing that Ag nanoparticles presented the largest heated transfer rate compared to other nanoparticles.

An analysis has been carried out to study the two-dimensional free convective boundary layer MHD nanofluid flow past an inclined plate with heat generation, chemical reaction and radiation effects under convective boundary conditions. The partial differential equations describing the flow are coupled nonlinear. They have been reduced to nonlinear ordinary differential equations by utilizing a similarity transformation, which is then solved numerically with the aid of the Runge-Kutta-based shooting technique. Graphs depict the influence of different controlling factors on the velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles. Numerical findings for skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are reviewed for distinct physical parameter values. In a limited sense, there is a good correlation between the current study's results and those of the earlier published work.

This study performed a numerical investigation of the Soret and Dufour effects on unsteady free convective chemically reacting nanofluid flowing past a vertically moving porous plate in the presence of viscous dissipation and a heat source/sink. The equations direct-ing the flow are non-dimensionalised, modified to ordinary differential equations and emerging equations are resolved computationally by using the bvp4c function in MATLAB software. The results obtained from this analysis indicate that the resulting velocity of the nanofluid increases with increasing Grashof number, mass Grashof number and porosity parameter. An increase in the Dufour number increases the fluid temperature, whereas the concentration profile declines with the increase in the Schmidt number. It is also observed that the skin fric-tion coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number increase with increasing magnetic field parameter, Eckert number and Schmidt number, respectively. The present study reveals the impact of Soret and Dufour effects on heat and mass transfer rates in chemically re-acting and viscous dissipating nanofluids.

In this study, the entropy generation resulting from heat and mass transfer of waterbased nanofluid through an annulus within two concentric vertical pipes filled with a porous medium is investigated. This study considers the effects of thermal radiation, viscous dissipation, thermal buoyancy, and axial pressure gradient in addition to heat and mass transfer. Brownian motion and thermophoresis have been introduced through the Buongiorno model. The similarity solution was used to solve nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The RungeKutta-Fehlberg method is used to solve these equations with the related boundary conditions. The effects of pertinent parameters such as pressure gradient, thermal radiation, viscosity parameter, thermophoretic parameter, Brownian motion parameter, and Eckert number are investigated numerically. This study found that the Bejan number increases as the viscosity parameter increases and decreases as the other active parameters increase. As the radiation parameter, thermophoretic parameter, Brownian parameter, and Eckert number increase, the Nusselt number decreases. The total entropy generation rate is found to increase with the fluid viscosity rate, Grashof number, thermal Biot number, and variable pressure gradient. However, the Bejan number is found to decrease with these parameters, as well as the Prandtl number.

The fully developed turbulent Boussinesq convection is known to form large-scale rolls, often termed the ‘large-scale circulation’ (LSC). It is an interesting question how such a large-scale flow is created, in particular in systems when the energy input occurs at small scales, when inverse cascade is required in order to transfer energy into the large-scale modes. Here, the small-scale driving is introduced through stochastic, randomly distributed heat source (say radiational). The mean flow equations are derived by means of simplified renormalization group technique, which can be termed a ‘weakly nonlinear renormalization procedure’ based on consideration of only the leading order terms at each step of the recursion procedure, as full renormalization in the studied anisotropic case turns out unattainable. The effective, anisotropic viscosity is obtained and it is shown that the inverse energy cascade occurs via an effective ‘motive force’ which takes the form of transient negative, vertical diffusion.

This work is an evaluative study of heat transfer in the helical-type heat exchanger. The fluid used is non-Newtonian in nature and is defined by Oswald’s model. The work was performed numerically by solving each of the Navier–Stokes equations and the energy equation using the package ANSYS-CFX. Following are the aspects that have been dealt with in this paper: the effects of thermal buoyan-cy, fluid nature and the tube shape on the heat transfer, and the fluid comportment. The interpretation of the obtained results was done by analyzing the isotherms and the streamlines. The mean values of the Nusselt number were also obtained in terms of the studied parame-ters. The results of this research enabled us to arrive at the following conclusion: the intensity of thermal buoyancy and the nature of the fluid affect the heat transfer distribution but keep the overall rate of heat transfer the same.

This work studies the simultaneous effects of helical force, rotation and porosity on the appearance of stationary convection in a binary mixture of a ferrofluid and on the size of convection cells. We have determined the analytical expression of the Rayleigh number of the system as a function of the dimensionless parameters. The effect of each parameter on the system is studied. The consideration of the simultaneous effect of the basic characteristics made it possible to determine the evolution of the convection threshold in the ferrofluid and then the size of convection cells. The analyzes of the various results obtained allowed us to deduce whether the convection sets in quickly or with a delay when the various effects taken into account in the study are considered simultaneously.
