Celem pracy było modelowanie procesu pobierania wody przez nasiona wybranych roślin uprawnych. Opis matematyczny funkcją logistyczną oraz równaniem Chapmana przeprowadzono dla pierwszej i drugiej fazy procesu poprzedzających kiełkowanie. Wyznaczono parametry charakteryzujące proces kinetyki pobierania wody wynikające z właściwości tych funkcji, związanych z ważnymi parametrami charakteryzującymi badane nasiona. Współczynnik MWR (maksymalnej szybkości pobierania wody w punkcie przegięcia krzywej logistycznej) osiągnął największą wartość dla rzodkiewki (39,61⋅10–3 kg wody⋅kg–1s. m⋅h–1) i buraka (69,16⋅10–3 kg wody⋅kg–1 s.m⋅h–1), najniższą zaś dla bobiku (5,35⋅10–3 kg wody⋅kg–1 s.m⋅h–1) i fasoli (7,07⋅10–3 kg wody⋅kg–1 s.m⋅h–1.
The aim of this work was the modelling of the water absorption process for seeds of selected crop plants. A logistic curve and Chapman’s equation were used for the mathematical description of the first and second phases of the process prior to germination. Parameters characterizing the kinetics of the process of the water absorption, resulting from the properties of these functions and related to important parameters of tested seeds were determined. The highest MWR coefficient (coefficient of the maximum water absorption rate at the inflection point of the logistic curve) was observed for radish seeds (39.61⋅10–3 kg H2O kg– 1 d.m. h–1) and beet seeds (69.16⋅10–3 kg H2O kg– 1 d.m. h–1), whereas the lowest MWR was obtained for broad bean seeds (5.35⋅10–3 kg H2O kg– 1 d.m. h–1) and bean seeds (7.07⋅10–3 kg H2O kg– 1 d.m. h–1).

Recommends U.S. and NATO countries recognize a new Cold War exists with a revisionist Russia. Advocates continuing NATO military exercise, upgrading civilian and military infrastructure protection, and enhancing U.S. and allied preparedness. Urges ongoing and candid dialogue between NATO and Russia to keep this situation from erupting into war. Insists the U.S. and its allies adroitly respond to Russian attempts to influence and manipulate public opinion toward Moscow. Expresses concern that U.S. partisan division over 2016 Russian interference in U.S. presidential election makes achieving greater Baltic policy cohesion difficult. Advocates warning Russia of devastating consequences of attempts to militarily invade or subvert Baltic countries.

With a goal to obtain information on rate of the high explosive decomposition and equation of state of the HE formulations and detonation products, measurements of the pressure and particle velocity profiles of shock and detonation waves have been performed for pure coarse-grain and fine-grain HMX and for the HMX+16.4% boron mixture. For these measurements, the manganin pressure gauges and the laser Doppler velocimeter VISAR were applied. Effect of boron in the energy release process was observed both in the detonation and shock-wave initiation regimes.
