Opis:
ABS (Anti-Locking) systems improve performance and safety of the braking systems. Use of ABS is now factory standard in both commercial and military aviation. ABS system in its origin was designed in order to prevent wheels from slipping and locking on the low friction surfaces such as ice. By preventing wheel, locking ABS system helps in not losing control over the vehicle during difficult braking conditions. In Aviation ABS, systems were introduced quite early as mechanical systems but their common usage is connected with computer and electronic systems development in 1970’s. In aircraft, ABS systems are responsible for safety of braking by preventing phenomena described above and for preventing landing with engaged brakes what is common in military and in big commercial aviation. In modern aviation ABS systems use is both safety and economical feature resulting in visible profits during airplane lifetime. Other question is efficiency of the process i.e. braking torque value. Braking torque is the most important parameter of brake from exploitation point of view. It is directly connected with braking distance as well with amount of force needed to achieve assumed braking parameters for the mechanical vehicle. Stability of braking torque is important in order to get optimized characteristics of the braking process itself. Most of the brake characteristics and efficiency calculations were based on assumption that braking torque should be stable during braking process. In this paper author would like to investigate ABS use impact on braking torque, which by definition is not stable in anti-lock equipped systems. Author will base on literature sources as well as on results of laboratory tests made during development of ABS system for 2700 kg take off mass airplane made in Landing Gear Laboratory of Warsaw Institute of Aviation in which author works on daily basis.

The scientific aim of the article is to present the relationship between the vibroacoustic signals of the right and left friction pad during braking, depending on the mass distribution, as an element of the lever system. This article presents the results of tests of a railway disc brake in the scope of vibrations generated by pads in various states of wear located on both sides of the brake disc. The tests were carried out on the brake stand using the vibroacoustic method including the analysis of amplitudes and frequencies and the thermal imaging method. Special attention was paid to the analysis of the classic lever mechanism as a multimass system influencing the thermo-mechanical characteristics and vibrations of the pads on the right and left side of the brake disc. Uneven mass distribution of the system translates into uneven wear of the friction components. The scientific aim of this paper is to present the relation between vibroacoustic signals of the right and left friction pad during braking depending on the mass distribution of the lever system component.

Opis:
Brake lines are tested for strength and durability. However, tests of strength are short-term, but tests of durability are durable, since their aim is to assess the effectiveness of the brake linings during operation. Therefore, reduction of time evaluating the durability of brake linings exploitation is urgent. The article describes the results of the research on the longevity of the brake linings of different types of vehicles based on their controllable operation and the method of accelerated estimation of the longevity of brake linings based on the operation of their analogues.
Тормозные накладки проверяют на прочность и долговечность. Но, испытания на прочность – кратковременны, а на долговечность – длительны, так как их цель заключается в оценке эффективности работы тормозных накладок в процессе эксплуатации. Поэтому сокращение времени оценки долговечности тормозных накладок в эксплуатации является актуальным. В работе приведены результаты исследований долговечности тормозных накладок различных автотранспортных средств по результатам подконтрольной эксплуатации и метод ускоренной оценки долговечности тормозных накладок по результатам эксплуатации аналога.

In the rail vehicles due to the ever-increasing speed a disc brake is used as a friction brake which gradually displaces the brake-blocks. In the public transport vehicles, electrical traction units or subway; the disc break collaborates with an electrodynamic brake that limits the use of the friction brake with a simultaneous possibility of power return due to the generator character of the traction engines work. Prior to the release of brake for testing, the tests are carried out on the break positions, wherein one of the measurements is the measurement of the disc temperature by the use of thermocouples. The aim of this article is to present the use of a thermal imaging camera while testing the disc brake friction pair elements in the breaking process evaluation.

The paper describes the design of laboratory equipment, which was created for verification and determination of the value of the static coefficient of friction in the contact surfaces of the brake lining and the brake drum of the drum brake with external shoes by experimental procedure. Suppliers of brake linings state values of the friction coefficients which correspond to different operating temperatures, but do not state the values of the friction coefficient of the respective brake lining with regard to the state of contamination of the contact surfaces. In practice, brake contact surfaces are exposed to moisture, dust, lubricants and oils, and these weather and operational influences significantly affect the value of the coefficient of friction. The results of laboratory tests performed with two types of brake linings (commonly used in practice) (fabric, hardened rubber) show that the coefficient of friction of a given brake lining is strongly influenced by the state of contamination of the contact surfaces.

Brake is one of the most important safety feature in every mechanical vehicle from bikes to airplanes. Brakes have to be designed in order to meet safety, reliability, efficiency and economical requirements. One has to remember that not only design of brake is important but also friction material used in its construction. Without proper materials, brakes are not able to generate proper braking moment. Braking moment is the most important parameter of brake from operation point of view. It is directly connected to braking distance as well with amount of force needed to achieve assumed braking parameters for the mechanical vehicle. Stability of braking moment is important in order to get optimized characteristics of the braking process itself. Most of the brake characteristics and efficiency calculations base on assumption that braking moment should be stable during braking process. During years of tests made on full scale brakes and friction material sample tests, author observed that real braking moment curve is not stable during braking process. This phenomenon is likely to affect braking efficiency and in result slightly change braking distance. In this paper author would like to address this issue by showing brake moment curves made for different brakes and friction materials. Tests, which were author’s base for paper contents, were made using full scale brake testing and friction material sample testing. All of the tests described in the paper were performed in Landing Gear Laboratory of Warsaw Institute of Aviation in which author works on daily basis

Opis:
The article presents an optimization process of the brake disc in terms of mass and strength resistance. A model of the disc was made using three-dimensional software – Catia V5 (CAD). Model has been subjected to the parameterization process for the strength calculations. A brake disc was fixed at the location of the mounting screws and subjected to torque resulting from the braking process. As a result of calculations, a set of parameters that meet the established boundary conditions was obtained as shown in the article.

The paper presents the results of investigations of a railway disc brake system related to the mass wear of its brake pads. The tests were carried out on a certified brake stand designed to determine the friction-mechanical characteristics of the brakes. The test stand was additionally equipped with a thermographic camera to observe the contact points of the brake pads with the disc. Particular attention was drawn to investigating the impact on the mass wear of the brake pads of such parameters of the braking process as contact surface of the brake pad with the rotor, thickness of the brake pads as the indicator of their initial wear, clamping force of the pads against the rotor, rail vehicle mass to be decelerated, and speed, at which the deceleration begins. The scientific aim of the paper is to present the relations between the mass wear of the brake pads and the quantities that characterize the braking process. A regression model was determined to estimate the wear of the brake pads based on a single braking process with the preset input quantities.

Powodem, dla którego zainteresowano się analizą możliwości diagnozowania układów hamulcowych z uwzględnieniem działania regulatorów rozkładu sił hamowania pomiędzy osie pojazdu, była chęć udoskonalenia metodyki badań tego układu. Obecnie jako kryteria jego oceny podczas okresowych badań kontrolnych przyjęto wskaźnik skuteczności hamowania oraz równomierność sił hamowania kół poszczególnych osi. Nie uwzględnienie w pomiarach działania regulatorów powoduje, że obliczeniowy wskaźnik skuteczności hamowania osiąga o wiele za duże wartości. Skutkiem tego może być dopuszczenie do ruchu pojazdu, którego rzeczywisty wskaźnik skuteczności hamowania nie jest wystarczający. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań opracowano metodykę diagnozowania układu hamulcowego, która pozwala sprawdzić poprawność działania korektorów sił hamowania zabudowanych w pojeździe.
The reason of interests in analysis brake control system with taking in considering brake force regulator working diagnosing was wish to improve research methodic of this system. Presently during the routine test of cars it used to accept as the criteria of estimates braking efficiency index and evenness of brake force among wheels on the same axle. Computational braking efficiency index will obtain to high level unless take into consideration operation of regulator in results. It can be admission for traffic vehicles which braking efficiency index are not enough as the results such procedure. It process methodic of diagnosing of passenger car's brake control system with brake force regulator in result of carried research.
