Autobiographism has been noticeably conquering the Croatian theatre which results in specific artistic projects, mainly falling into the category of theatre of the real. This material calls for a description of strategies, functions and potentials. The most important here is the freedom to (re)construct identity – performativity – communication and interaction. The styling of an autobiographical archive and its extension into action allows adopting a new view and interpreting historical events and current social problems differently. This phenomenon is manifested in selected performances which involve staging a dramatic text, adapting prose or journalistic text, compiling and processing various cultural texts, incorporating the performers’ confessions and observations, and developing documentary material. Descriptions of the latest performances confirm reactivity of the theatre, its power to concertize and subjectivize, as well as to model the audience’s attitudes.

It is a special challenge for an individual to be the hero of his/her own life in the social conditions of reflexive modernisation. Autobiographies are not only descriptions of what happened during the life course, but they also reflect individual capacity to construct cultural identities in reflexive and reflective ways. To reflect on one’s own success, personal gains and losses have to be compared with the competitive capacities of other community members of the hierarchically structured society. Reflexive capacity is the demand to become a conscious self and culturally identified member of a social group. Selfidentity is reconstructed and coped with in light of meaningful others during certain transition periods in the life course. Life-political meaningfulness is checked by overcoming personal difficulties in order to manage life-challenges further. Self-respect gives the resources needed for overcoming alienating experiences, for controlling the risk of social exclusion and for mastering one's own life successfully. Narrative identification of self tends to produce life-heroes. But the problem considered relevant here starts from reflecting altruism with reflexive monitoring of the self. The question is whether heroic episodes of life can be narrated so that heroic everyday deeds are emphasised in autobiographies. Or is everyday heroism present only in precarious moments which escape ego-centrism because this kind of heroism can be placed only at the social margin, where surviving a difficult situation obliges one to turn unselfishly toward another?

Der Band enthält die Abstracts ausschließlich in englischer Sprache.
The twentieth century witnessed the birth of a feminine strand of autofictional writing coming from the ancient colonies, of which Fantasia: An Algerian Cavalcade, by the francophone Algerian writer Assia Djebar, and the Arabic Memory in the flesh, by the Algerian writer Ahlam Mosteghanemi, are emblematic. Whether it be in the Arabic or French language, the women writers of the Maghreb risked writing an autobiography in a culture that stresses the anonymity of women. The coming to writing for these women is often accompanied by a desire – or necessity – to revisit the collective past from a female perspective. For these women, literary writing also meant writing their stories on the palimpsest of dominant history, in order to carve their place in it. To fight the forced amnesia of historical discourse constructed by man, they must create works that give voice to the stories silenced by the totalizing male narrative. Djebar and Mosteghanemi both insist that the emancipation of women is possible only if the subaltern woman becomes subject not object of her story/history.

Bazyli Pietruczuk’s autobiography is the main source of subjects discussed in his literary work. The author of the article analyzes his autobiography “Okruchy”. The writer presents his childhood memories full of pain, mischief and injustice. The picture of anti-childhood becomes pretext to consider the influence of surroundings on the way personality is formed.
Własna biografia jest podstawowym źródłem tematów utworów Bazylego Pietruczuka. W artykule dokonano analizy jego autobiograficznej książki „Okruchy”. Pisarz powraca w niej do wspomnień dzieciństwa, pełnego bólu, krzywd i niesprawiedliwości. Ukazanie historii anty-dzieciństwa staje się dla Pietruczuka pretekstem do rozważań na temat wpływu otoczenia na kształtowanie się osobowości człowieka.

Komunikat poświęcony jest życiorysowi, który napisał kompozytor, organista i organizator życia muzycznego warszawianin Józef Kozłowski, pierwszy dyrektor muzyki w petersburskiej Dyrekcji Teatrów Cesarskich. Dokument ten jest bardzo ważnym źródłem, w którym muzyk przytacza dokładną datę swego urodzenia – 10 września 1759 roku. We wszystkich encyklopediach podany jest tylko 1757 rok, czyli data, która odbiega o dwa lata od informacji, uważanej przez Kozłowskiego za poprawną. Po raz pierwszy w polskiej literaturze naukowej autorka opisuje ten autograf Józefa Kozłowskiego, tłumaczy na język polski oraz prezentuje publikację źródła.
The announcement is devoted to a life-sketch, written by composer, organist and music activist from Warsaw, Józef Kozłowski, who was the first director of music in the Direction of Imperial Theatres in Petersburg. The document is a very important source in which the musician gives his exact date of birth: 10 September, 1759. This is two years later than the year 1757, universally accepted in current music lexicography. The author is the first Polish scholar to describe Józef Kozłowski’s autograph, translate it into Polish and publish its source.

Death and dying offer an important paradox for investigation. Both are feared and to be avoided but also generate considerable reverence, curiosity and mystery. The latter is investigated through thick ethnographic data collected in a Thai Buddhist hospice and the following pages provide some description of an alternative cultural-spiritual framing of anticipating death. The former part of this paradox is explored using detailed autoethnographic-autobiographical data arising from the cognitiveemotional conflict between the researcher’s cultural schemata and the phenomena in which the research process is embedded. Sociological speculations are offered as to the value and insights of this methodological approach and to anticipating dying as an important phenomenon for further inquiry into everyday social life.

Cel. W artykule przedstawiono procedurę prowadzenia wywiadu narracyjnego w wyjątkowy sposób, z uwagi na obecność nie jednego, ale dwóch narratorów jednocześnie. Technikę wywiadu narracyjnego przedstawiono w kontekście metody narracyjno-biograficznej, a funkcjonowanie małżeństwa w kontekście systemowego rozumienia rodziny. Metody. Badanie prowadzono z wykorzystaniem techniki wywiadu narracyjnego z małżeństwami, które oceniają swoje małżeństwo jako szczęśliwe. Badania dotyczyły szczęścia w związku i były prowadzone w grupie małżonków, którzy subiektywnie oceniają swoje małżeństwo jako wysoce satysfakcjonujące. Wyniki. W artykule udowodniono zasadność zastosowania wywiadu narracyjnego z jednoczesnym udziałem obojga małżonków. Wnioski. Kształt narracji zależy w znacznej mierze od sposobu jej funkcjonowania, struktury, poziomu bliskości, satysfakcji z relacji, powiązań pomiędzy poszczególnymi członkami systemu. Zaproszenie do wspólnego wywiadu narracyjnego obojga małżonków było zasadne w sytuacji prowadzenia badań wśród małżeństw, które oceniały swój związek jako bardzo satysfakcjonujący. W innym wypadku wspólny wywiad prawdopodobnie byłby niemożliwy, a na pewno ryzykowny.
Aim. This paper presents a narrative interview procedure in a unique way, due to the presence of not one, but two narrators simultaneously. The narrative interview technique was presented in the context of the narrative-biographical method, and marital functioning was presented in the context of a systemic understanding of the family. Methods. The study was conducted using a narrative interview technique with married couples who rate their marriage as happy. The research focused on happiness in marriage and was conducted with a group of spouses who subjectively rate their marriage as highly satisfying. Results. The article justifies the validity of using a narrative interview with simultaneous participation of both spouses. Conclusions. The shape of the narrative depends to a large extent on the way it functions, its structure, the level of closeness, satisfaction with the relationship, and the links between the different members of the system. Inviting both spouses to a joint narrative interview was justified in the situation of conducting research among married couples who assessed their marriage as very satisfying. Otherwise, a joint interview would probably have been impossible, and certainly risky.

A comparison of the life and poetry of Ovid and of Philippus Callimachus (Filippo Buonaccorsi, 1437-1496) during their exile from Italy. Although there are some undeniable analogies between their fates on the whole, Callimachus' state of mind in exile, his relations with his new neighbours and the tone of his poetry are all quite different than Ovid's. All this is due especially to the fact that he found his new love and a new, quite well-educated audience in Poland.

The article discusses the audio form of the biography and autobiography – as seen in the radio- drama and documentary – as a distinct form in audio literature. The article is inspired by the theoretical findings of Philippe Lejeune concerning autobiographical literature and the personal diary genre. Theoretical reflections are complemented by selected examples of artistic audio genres. The examples of radio-dramas and artistic documentaries (features) discussed illustrate the specificity of the radio medium, which, on the one hand, opens up new opportunities for documentaries that are impossible to achieve in printed literature, while, on the other hand, it also imposes restrictions.

Artykuł jest próbą przedstawienia postów instagramowych jako nowej formy dziennika osobistego. Szczególny nacisk położono na wyróżnienie takich cech dziennika, które są charakterystyczne także dla wpisów na Instagramie, oraz na ich analizę na przykładzie tekstów Julii Slyvki – młodej pisarki, doktora filologii i blogerki z Ukrainy. Zwrócono uwagę na historię i teorię autobiografii w procesie ewolucji dyskursu literaturoznawczego, który rozszerzał swój zakres dzięki uwzględnianiu coraz zasobniejszej biblioteki różnorodnej literatury dokumentu osobistego. Wskazano, że na zmiany w obrębie praktyk lekturowych niebagatelny wpływ miały nowe odmiany gatunków autobiograficznych, tworzonych w przestrzeni Internetu, a zwłaszcza na portalach społecznościowych. Literatura dokumentu osobistego w dużej części przeniosła się bowiem do Sieci, szczególnie w czasie pandemii, i zyskała nową formę, dlatego stanowi ciekawe pole zarówno dla badaczy, jak i samych twórców.
This article is an attempt to define Instagram posts as a new form of personal journal. In the study, particular emphasis was placed on distinguishing the features of a personal diary characteristic of Instagram entries, comparing them on the example of texts by Julia Slyvka — a young writer, PhD, blogger from Ukraine. Both the history and the theory of autobiography, along with the evolution of literary discourse, changed their face, they became richer, thanks to taking into account the increasingly richer library of diverse personal document literature. In addition, the changes in reading practices were significantly influenced by new varieties of autobiographical genres created in the Internet space, especially on social networks. The literature of the personal document has largely moved to the Internet, especially during the pandemic, has gained a new form (it has been made public) and therefore is an interesting field for both researchers and authors.

Artykuł, oparty na dotychczasowych analizach, wykorzystuje teoretyczny dyskurs komparatystycznej imagologii, by pokazać jej produktywne aspekty na materiale będącym przykładem stosunku polityki i literatury. Wybrano przede wszystkim utwory, które były istotnymi wydarzeniami w rozwoju literatury słowackiej i pozwalają na jej odniesienie do kontekstu literatury Europy Środkowej od lat czterdziestych XX wieku. W artykule zwrócono uwagę również na inne symptomy: dwa etapy podziemia literackiego, emigrację wewnętrzną, niezależność wewnętrzną, kilka typów auto-obrazów i ich występowania lub oddziaływania w strukturze dziela literackiego. Artykuł dotyczy jednego z typów słowackiej twórczości literackiej i dąży do odideologizowania obrazu słowackiej literatury jako literatury typu wiejskiego.
Based on previous analyses, this study uses the theoretical discourse of comparative imagology to show the productive aspects of this discipline on the material which can document the relationship between politics and literature. The particular works that were chosen for analysis constitute crucial events in the development of Slovac literature and allow to make references to Central European literature of the 1940s. The paper also focuses on other symptoms: two phases of dissent, internal emigration, internal freedom, some types of self-images and their fulfilment or impact in the structure of literary work. This study informs about the specific type of Slovak literature and aims at providing a de-ideologized picture of Slovak literature as a literature of the rural type.

This article aims to analyse the image that the writer Mario Rigoni Stern wants to give of himself as a soldier abandoned to his fate during the disastrous Russian campaign of 1942–1943. Hence, this paper begins by mentioning the importance of autobiographism in neorealist literature after World War II. In the first part of the article, works by Paul Ricœur, Philippe Lejeune, Ivan Tassi, and Maria Anna Mariani will be considered in order to emphasise that, in autobiographical books, the writer “builds”, “transforms”, his or her own image according to a specific ideology. Following this premise, the analysis of Il sergente nella neve, according to the contemporary theories of autobiography, aims to highlight the image that the writer wants to give of himself as a soldier, an image simultaneously humanised and heroised. In fact, in his own humanity, Rigoni Stern’s hero tragically takes on an epic dimension. Thus, it can be concluded that the inhuman effort of a man who is left alone in front of a hostile nature and a powerful enemy creates a new example of the epic hero. Furthermore, the self-image modelled in this text is presented as an individual who is fighting not only for his own survival, but also for the survival of his companions. He is a leader to follow and a reference point, a soldier who does not fight for a political cause, but for greater values, like friendship, love, or honour.
In questo articolo si vuole analizzare essenzialmente l’immagine che lo scrittore vicentino Mario Rigoni Stern vuole dare di sé in quanto soldato abbandonato al proprio destino durante la disastrosa campagna di Russia del 1942–1943. Si intende, quindi, iniziare accennando all’importanza dell’autobiografismo nella letteratura neorealista del secondo dopoguerra. In particolare in questa prima parte si considereranno soprattutto i lavori di Paul Ricœur, Philippe Lejeune, Ivan Tassi e Maria Anna Mariani al fine di sottolineare come nell’autobiografia l’io scrivente finisce per “costruire”, “trasformare” e “rimodellare” l’io narrante secondo una precisa ideologia. A questa premessa seguirà l’analisi de Il sergente nella neve secondo le teorie dell’autobiografismo contemporaneo allo scopo di mettere in luce l’immagine che di sé vuole dare lo scrittore in quanto soldato al fronte: un’immagine allo stesso tempo umanizzata ed eroicizzata. Infatti, proprio nella sua umanità l’eroe rigoniano assume una dimensione tragicamente epica. Si arriva, quindi, alla conclusione che è proprio lo sforzo disumano di un uomo, lasciato solo di fronte ad una natura ostile e un nemico troppo potente, a renderlo un nuovo esempio di eroe epico. Inoltre l’io modellato in questo testo ci viene presentato come un individuo che non si batte solo per la propria sopravvivenza, ma anche per quella dei suoi compagni: un capo da seguire e un punto di riferimento, un soldato impeccabile che non combatte per una causa politica ma per un bene più grande, sia esso l’amicizia, l’amore o l’onore.
