    Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie założeń dotyczących podstawowych filarów edukacji, określonych przez Międzynarodową Komisję do spraw Edukacji dla XXI wieku, która pracowała pod kierunkiem Jacques’a Delorsa (przewodniczącego Komisji Europejskiej w latach 1985–1995). Pokłosiem obrad Komisji jest Raport dla UNESCO „Edukacja: jest w niej ukryty skarb” („L’Éducation: Un trésor est caché dedans”, UNESCO 1996). W artykule zastosowano kryterium problemowe, odniesione do poszczególnych części raportu i kategorii postaw dotyczących: zrównoważonego rozwoju, procesu wychowania, kształcenia do współżycia z innymi, odkrywania Innego.
    The aim of the article is to present assumptions concerning the basic pillars of education, defined by the International Commission on Education for the Twenty-first Century, which operated under the supervision of Jacques Delors (President of the European Commission in the years 1985-1995) Learning: The Treasure Within (original title: L’Éducation: Un trésor est caché dedans, UNESCO 1996). The criterion applied in the article is the problem, referred to particular categories of attitudes concerning sustainable development, the process of education, developing the skill of coexistence with others, discovering the other one.

    This paper presents the introduction of a new instructional tool for Initial Teacher Education in Early Childhood language at “St. Kliment Ohridski” University of Sofia in Bulgaria. The aim of the study was to train university undergraduate students in the Narrative Format model of foreign language teaching and learning, and to conduct research into their opinions and evaluation of the course at the end of the academic year. Our belief was that students’ evaluation of the course that was offered to them would confirm its value as an educational tool. The results proved that Bulgarian students are in search of, and open to new working methodologies and classroom practices. As a result of the positive outcomes and students’ extremely positive evaluation of the model, it has been incorporated into their university studies and nursery practice for another consecutive year.

    Opis:
    The twenty first-century learning environment, the classroom in particular, is believed to create conditions for a language learner to engage in autonomous and cooperative learning activities. It is also believed to develop and sustain motivation, to foster self-regulation and – last but not least – to facilitate the learning process. The learning environment is composed of the learner, other students, the teacher and the physical environment, i.e. the furniture and equipment. The research presents students’ opinions concerning the positive and negative influences of selected aspects of the classroom environment on their language learning process, motivation, ability to self-assess, self-confidence and attitudes to the target language and culture. As seen from data analysis, it is the teachers whose knowledge, behaviours and attitudes appear to have the biggest influence on students’ learning process. The opinions are collected from students’ written guided interviews and may become an inspiration for teacher educators at the university level.

    Standardized tests administered nationwide in the fth grade of the elementary school in Israel have shown that in the subject of mathematics boys achieve signi cantly higher scores than do girls. This gap is worrisome because of the importance of mathematical skills in success in education, both in the secondary school and in higher education, and in the job market. This paper brie y reviews a number of possible reasons for this gap, including lack of suitability to girls of current instruction methods in frameworks of mixed-gender education, de ciencies in mathematics training and math anxiety among teachers, gender stereotypes, and the phenomenon of the self-ful lling prophecy. Then the paper outlines the researcher’s proposed method, Computer Assisted Learning (CAL), for promoting girls’ achievements in mathematics. Initial results have been promising.

    The coronavirus pandemic has forced the world to deal with distance learning. This article discusses distance learning in the kindergartens in Israel from the perspective of kindergarten teachers. The research was carried out after the first wave of the virus, in March 2020, and its problems was: What is the attitude of the kindergarten teachers in Israel to distance learning? The research used a linear (differential semantic) questionnaire that measures the degree to which they agree with statements related to distance learning in the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional aspects. The questionnaire was filled out by 213 kindergarten teachers. The research attempts to conclude about the kindergar- ten teachers’ perception of distance learning.

    This paper reports on a one-year longitudinal study that adopted a blended teaching approach based on designing and implementing an online EFL course to be used by Greek students aged 13-14 years old along their more traditional face-to-face lessons. The reason for creating a more dynamic learning environment aligned with the rest of the curriculum was to increase EFL learners’ engagement and motivation through their exposure to authentic online material and participation in a variety of reading, writing, speaking and listening tasks. Data analysis of pre- and post-achievement tests on English language reading comprehension performance along with students’ Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) attitude questionnaire showed that participants generally had a positive attitude toward CALL. At the same time, open online access technologies gave them the opportunity to further develop their EFL reading comprehension skills. The paper concludes by highlighting the fact that online class components were not designed to fit the online tools into a task-based EFL lesson, but rather served the learning objectives of the actual lesson based on a blended teaching approach.

    Celem rozważań jest przedstawienie wyników badań dotyczących możliwości uczenia się nowych rzeczy oraz wskazanie skłonności do otwartości na nowe rzeczy na tle wyznawanej hierarchii wartości. Artykuł ma charakter badawczy. Przedmiotem analizy jest hierarchia wartości Polaków oraz deklarowany stopień możliwości uczenia się nowych rzeczy. Artykuł przygotowano na podstawie wyników Europejskiego Sondażu Społecznego (ESS). W postępowaniu badawczym korzystano również z literatury z zakresu socjologii i psychologii dostępnej w postaci książek i artykułów. Wyniki przeprowadzonych analiz wskazują na stosunkowo niski poziom identyfikacji badanych z chęcią poszukiwania nowych zajęć, czy chęcią bycia zaskakiwanym. System wartości Polaków jest bardziej ukierunkowany na tradycję, bezpieczeństwo niż na otwartość na zmiany. Większość respondentów dostrzega możliwość uczenia się nowych rzeczy. Odsetek badanych deklarujących taką możliwość w ostatnich sześciu latach zwiększa się, choć w stosunku do innych krajów europejskich wynik ten należy uznać za niski.
    An aim of considerations is to present findings of the research on the possibility to learn new things as well as to indicate propensities to openness to new things against the background of the shared hierarchy of values. The article is of the research nature. The subject of analysis is the Poles’ hierarchy of values and the declared degree of possibility to learn new things. The article was prepared on the grounds of results of the European Social Survey (ESS). In the research proceedings, there was also used the literature in the field of sociology and psychology accessible in the form of books and articles. The carried out analyses findings indicate a relatively low level of identification of the respondents with their desire to look for new tasks or desire to be surprised. The Poles’ system of values is more aimed at the tradition, safety than at their openness to changes. Most respondents perceive the possibility to learn new things. The percentage of the respondents declaring such an opportunity in the last six years has been increasing, albeit vis-à-vis other European countries this result should be considered as low.
    Цель рассуждений – представить результаты исследований, касающихся возможности обучения чему-либо новому, и указать склонность к открытию к новому на фоне принятой иерархии ценностей. Статья имеет исследовательский характер. Предмет анализа – иерархия ценностей поляков и декларированная степень возможности учиться чему-нибудь новому. Статья подготовлена на основе результатов Европейского общественного зондажа. В исследовании использовали также литературу из области социологии и пси- хологии, доступную в форме книг и статей. Результаты проведенных анализов указывают относительно низкий уровень отождествления обследуемых с охотой искать новые занятия или с охотой быть захваченным врасплох. Система ценностей поляков более направлена на традицию,безопасность, чем на открытость к изменениям. Большинство респондентов замечают возможность учиться чему-либо новому. Доля обследуемых, заявляющих о такой возможности в последние шесть лет, увеличивается, хотя по сравнению с другими европейскими странами этот результат следует считать низким.

    Attitudes, including beliefs, values, and motivation are within the scope of interest of numerous fields of study such as psychology, philosophy, sociology, and anthropology. In psychology, attitudes related to affective, cognitive and, in particular, behavioral reactions are studied. It is believed that attitudes do not only affect the behavior of the individual, but also their ways of evaluating specific actions. At the same time, empirical research in this area is extremely problematic and conditioned by many individual differences (e.g. age, gender, place of residence, personality traits, etc.). On the other hand, in glottodidactics, the common trend in this type of research is analysis of students' attitudes (including motivation) towards a foreign language and its culture(s). The purpose of the article is to briefly present the methodology of research on attitudes towards learning different languages. First, we review the concepts of attitudes, beliefs, values, and motivation from a psychological and didactic perspective. We also focus our attention on the types of attitude measurement used (which include motivation). Finally, we present some results of research conducted for the first time in Poland in the field of attitudes and motivation of secondary school students towards learning Spanish.

    The goal of the article is to describes the impact of parental behaviour on children’s lives. The main body discusses the neglect of parental duties and the misguided attitude towards raising children exhibited by some parents. Additionally, the article describes the phenomenon of orphanhood and its connection with the problems that some parents are unable to cope with. The second part focuses on the most harmful consequences of certain negative behaviours exhibited by some parents. The final part of the article is a list of personality disorders and the other problems that children suffering from social orphanhood may experience.

    The article presents research results on the possibility of using ICTs in a speech therapist’s practice. The results of the study show that students have changed their view of the place of ICTs in speech therapy. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed their attitudes towards ICTs. For them, this crisis has become an opportunity for the development of their own skills to use ICTs in their future professional work.

    Can western human society apply its definition of the term “animal” on itself? Is it possible that a “person” is not only human? In this article, I explore and analyze various and interdisciplinary doctrines and approaches towards nonhuman animals in order to question the current status-quo regarding nonhuman animals. Throughout history, as Man developed self-awareness and the ability to empathize with others, hunters were associated with wolves and began to domesticate them and other animals. With the introduction of different religions and beliefs into human society, Man was given the lead in the food chain, and the status of the nonhuman animals became objectified and subject of the property of human animals. Common modern taxonomy identified and described approximately 1.9 million different species. Some estimate the total number of species on earth in 8.7 million. The Human is just one of 5,416 other species in the Mammal class and shares a place of honour among hundreds of other Primates and Great Apes. It appears to be commonly and scientifically accepted that humans are animals. Humans, as other nonhuman animals, all meet the definitions of the term. However, it seems that there is a wide gap between the human-generated definitions (HGDs) and the human social practice that created a distinct line between humans and “animals”. This alienation is best illustrated by the commonly mistaken equivalence between the terms “human” and “person”, as at least some nonhuman animals answer to many other HGDs. In this article I try to show that a rational and logical interpretation of these definitions’ nonhuman animals (at least some), should be regarded as persons and to suggest an approach to implement in the future.
