    The aim of this paper is to propose an interpretation of aesthetic emotions in which they are treated as various affective reactions to a work of art. I present arguments that there are three different types of such aesthetic emotional responses to art, i.e., embodied emotions, epistemic emotions and contextual-associative emotions. I then argue that aesthetic emotions understood in this way are dynamic wholes that need to be explained by capturing and describing their internal temporal dynamics as well as by analyzing the relationships with the other components of aesthetic experience.

    Opis:
    The main aim of this article is to establish the ontological status of musical emotions. Referring to the concepts of the psychology of music, the sociology of music, as well as cultural studies and philosophy, the author discusses affective reactions related to the reception of music. A significant distinction is made between the emotive reception and the cognitive reception. While musicality itself is largely shaped by brain structures, emotional sensitivity to music is a much more complex construct that includes not only neurological factors but also the listener’s personality. Based on her findings, the author concludes that one cannot speak of any fixed dispositions in this regard as the reception of music can depend on the listener’s current mood, experiences, and the context in which the music is listened to. The article discusses also methodological dilemmas that may emerge in the course of research on musical emotions.

    Art can help handle difficult experiences. Art therapy sessions (healing through art) have been recognized for years as a well-known and efficient method of treatment. In this paper is considered the problem of regulation of emotions through art, particularly through expressive writing. Important part of the paper is the impact of this way of regulation on task-oriented functioning, especially cognitive functioning.
    Sztuka może pomagać radzić sobie z trudnymi doświadczeniami. Sesje arteterapii (leczenia poprzez sztukę) są znanym i skutecznym rodzajem terapii. Jednocześnie obserwuje się tendencje do – wydawać by się mogło – nieefektywnego dla dobrostanu (emocji, nastroju) angażowania się w tworzenie bądź kontakt ze sztuką (na przykład słuchanie smutnych piosenek, ekspresywne pisanie o trudnych przeżyciach). Wielu autorów opisywało, jak regulujemy negatywne emocje. Treści te nie wyczerpywały jednak tematu w odniesieniu do sztuki. W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano proces regulacji emocji przez sztukę, zwłaszcza za pośrednictwem pisania ekspresywnego. Opisano również wpływ takiego sposobu regulacji na funkcjonowanie zadaniowe, szczególnie poznawcze.

    This paper aims at discussing the issue of emotion in social advertising. It will analyse the emotional and the aesthetic strategies that the authors of the social campaigns employ in order to raise the awareness, engage and make an impression on the public. The corpus comprises slogans from French, Italian and Polish social campaigns.
    L’article traite des émotions dans la publicité sociétale. En s’appuyant sur les exemples relevés dans un corpus de campagnes sociétales francophones, italiennes et polonaises, l’auteur analyse les émotions et les procédés esthétiques auxquels ont souvent recours les spécialistes de la publicité en question en vue d’intéresser, de toucher ou de bouleverser le destinataire du message.

    Difficulty is the personal experience of a subject facing resistance that prevents them from reaching a goal or desired state. It is an experiential part of everyone’s existence. In digital games, difficulty is strongly linked with designed challenges and obstacles that must be overcome by physical effort, manual skills, coordination, and dexterity. But this widespread perspective is a reductionist categorization of the expressive possibilities of difficulty. Because as experiential, difficulty is aesthetic expression and therefore it is much more than the mere skill challenge. The difficulty experience that emerges from an opposing force between object and subject, between game and player, can be interpretive, poetic, narrative, ethical or atmospheric among other expressive forms. Understanding difficulty from these broad parameters, we pose it as an aesthetic expression, which forges multiple experiences at the intersection between mechanics, fiction, and the player’s performance. This study analyses, drawing from philosophy, postphenomenology, and game studies, some aspects of two contemporary games, The Last of Us Part II and Death Stranding from the view of difficulty as aesthetic experience perspective, considering the significant and discursive tensions beyond purely ludic and mechanical elements.

    Lęk i niepokój w wymiarach sztuki. W artykule zainteresowana jestem różnymi manifestacjami estetycznej trwogi i strachu, tj. trwogi i strachu wywoływanych przez dzieła sztuki, które omawiam w perspektywie zarówno estetycznej, jak i antropologicznej. Analizuję powiązanie międzt trwogą i przyjemnością w katharsis, w pojęciu wzniosłości Edmunda Burke’a j w odniesieniu do Czarnego Malarstwa Goyi oraz myśli Paula Virilio. Estetyczna trwoga i strach współistnieją wraz z innymi emocjami takimi jak litość, smutek, a szczególnie przyjemność, która pozostaje autonomiczna bądź wyrasta z fascynacji złem.

    Children's literature reflects society and conveys new models. This field evolves depending on the representations of childhood that adults build. Recent research shows that children experience deep emotions and that reading contributes to their social and affective development. This paper examines the different issues related to writing the affects aimed at young readers through the study of Astrid Lindgren's novel Les frères Coeur-de-Lion. It focuses on ethical, aesthetic and linguistic questions involved in translating the book from Swedish to French. 
    La littérature de jeunesse est à la fois reflet de la société et vecteur de nouveaux modèles. Elle évolue en fonction des représentations que les adultes ont de l'enfance. Les recherches récentes montrent que les enfants vivent de grandes expériences émotionnelles et que la lecture contribue à leur développement social et affectif. Cet article interroge les enjeux de l'écriture des affects à destination du jeune lectorat à travers l'étude du roman Les frères Coeur-de-Lion d'Astrid Lindgren. Il s'intéresse également aux problématiques éthiques, esthétiques et linguistiques liées à la traduction de l’œuvre du suédois au français.

Theoretische Lehre von den Gemüthsbewegungen überhaupt Georga Friedricha Meiera jako emocjonalno-estetyczny przewodnik dla ‘pięknoduchów’ Rosnące zainteresowanie sferą emocji w filozofii i literaturze 1. połowy XVIII wieku skutkuje wzmożoną refleksją nad koniecznością naukowego opisu tych niematerialnych zjawisk i świadomością niewystarczalności języka. Autorka poświęca niniejszy artykuł tekstowi Georga Friedricha Meiera, który jako pierwszy przedstawia spójny koncept „języka emocji” z myślą o „pięknoduchach” („schöne Geister”) – mówcach, pisarzach i poetach. Wychodząc z założenia, że wiedza o ‘całym człowieku’ jest konieczna twórcom, Meier opisuje mechanizmy oddziaływania na emocje innych ludzi i mechanizmy wywoływania tych emocji, a także podkreśla istotną dla recepcji dzieł literackich zdolność współodczuwania (empatia) z innym człowiekiem. W późniejszych tekstach Meier będzie używał metafory „die Sprache der Leidenschaften” (język emocji) w odniesieniu do twórczości poetyckiej i prozatorskiej. Das in der ersten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts zunehmende Interesse der Philosophie und Literatur für die Sphäre der Emotionen resultiert in einer intensiven Reflexion über die Notwendigkeit, diese immateriellen Phänomene beschreiben zu müssen, einerseits und andererseits im wachsenden Bewusstsein, die gewöhnliche Sprache habe ihre Defizite. Den vorliegenden Artikel widmet die Autorin Georg Friedrich Meiers Abhandlung Theoretische Lehre von den Gemüthsbewegungen überhaupt, der als erster ein kohärentes Konzept einer „Sprache der Leidenschaften“ darlegt und es an ,schöne Geister‘ – Redner und Dichter – richtet. Indem Meier von der Prämisse ausgeht, die Kenntnis des ,ganzen Menschen‘ sei den Rednern und Dichtern notwendig, beschreibt Meier die Mechanismen der Entstehung, Hervorrufung und Beeinflussung der Emotionen von anderen Menschen. Darüber hinaus betont Meier ein für die Rezeption der literarischen Werke fundamentales Einfühlungsvermögen. In seinen späteren Texten überträgt Meier die Metapher „die Sprache der Leidenschaften“ auf die Dichtung überhaupt.
    The growing interest in the sphere of emotions in philosophy and literature in the first half of the 18th century resulted in an intensified reflection of the necessity of scientifically describing these non-material occurrences and an awareness of the restrictions of language. The author of this article pays special attention to the writings of Georg Friedrich Meier, who was the first to introduce the joint concept of “the language of emotions” and the idea of “daydreamers”-orators, writers and poets. Taking into account that fact knowledge of “the entire human being” (“der ganze Mensch”) is needed by creators, Meier writes about the mechanism which act on the emotions of others and those mechanisms which evoke these emotions, and he emphasises the fact that empathy is an essential part of the reception of literary works. In his later texts, Meier uses the metaphor “die Sprache der Leidenschaften” (ʻthe language of emotionsʼ) in the context of the creations of poems and prose.

    The article discusses the impact of place on the traveller’s eye. The author uses Hippolyte Taine’s Venetian episode in Voyage en Italie [Journey to Italy] to illustrate how Venice’s landscape transforms and rejuvenates Taine’s eye, modeling his emotions. It turns out that the traveller sees affectively. This way of seeing is no different from the aesthetic eye which, according to Taine’s theory, “uncovers” what is “conspicuous”. The Italian sketches demonstrate as a result that his “philosophy of art” is permeated by geopoetic thinking about the place agency.

    Colour is a common physical property in exposures of unique geological objects, but is only marginally addressed in geoheritage literature. We here present our point of view on how this feature can be treated in geoheritage studies, with the general aim at setting up a broad discussion. Three functions of colour in geoheritage are outlined, namely geological interpretation (e.g., compositional and genetic peculiarities of sedimentary rocks), higher visibility due to colour contrast and aesthetic attractiveness to geotourists. Assessment of colour at geosites is challenging, especially because of uncertain colour nomenclatures. We propose to focus on colour identification, calculation of the number of colours, qualitative evaluation of colour contrast and comparison of colours of a given geological object to its landscape context. Geoheritage colours may have different meanings to geosite visitors, and colour-emotion associations revealed by national and international studies are important to trace these meanings.

    Artykuł poświęcony jest zagadnieniom uczuć i emocji zawartym w bogatej spuściźnie naukowej Stefana Szumana, opisanym w świetle jego dorobku pedagogicznego i psychologicznego. Przedstawiono w nim biografię uczonego, a następnie scharakteryzowano jego dorobek naukowy z zakresu psychologii i pedagogiki. Ponieważ Szuman w sposób szczególny interesował się twórczością artystyczną dzieci, omówiono jego poglądy w tej dziedzinie, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem znaczenia uczuć i emocji, które towarzyszą tworzeniu i odbiorowi dzieł sztuki przez dzieci i młodzież. Następnie dokonano charakterystyki cech osobowych nauczycieli według Szumana, którego zdaniem nauczyciele w swojej pracy zawodowej powinni się zajmować dobrym wychowaniem estetycznym uczniów w szkołach. Zaprezentowano także poglądy polskiego psychologa na rolę sztuki w życiu dorosłego człowieka. W artykule zaakcentowano te elementy poglądów Szumana, w których wypowiadał się o udziale uczuć w procesie powstawania i odbioru dzieł sztuki.
    The article is devoted to the issues of feelings and emotions and contained in the rich scientific heritage of Stefan Szuman, described in the context of his pedagogical and psychological achievements. It presents the scholar’s biography, and then characterizes his scientific achievements in the field of psychology and pedagogy. Due to Szuman’s particular interest in children’s artistic creation, his views in this field were discussed, with particular emphasis on the importance of feelings and emotions that accompany children and young people in creating and receiving works of art. Then, the characteristics of teachers’ personal traits according to Szuman were also made. In his opinion, teachers’ professional work should focus on good aesthetic education of students in schools. The views of the Polish psychologist on the role of art in adult life were also presented. The article indicates those elements of Szuman’s views in which he spoke about the participation of feelings in the process of creating and receiving works of art.
