Opis:
Terms of address and personal salutation are the most important features for starting communicative contacts. There are almost no information in dictionaries and in grammars, and very few in manuals for teaching foreign languages. This paper deals, for oral and written communication in German, with the most important conventions of address: on the pronominal and nominal level and in the domain of protocol. Moreover some examples of diachronic change are discussed.

Forms of Address as Discrete Modal OperatorsThe category of expressions of politeness includes, among others, forms of address. Forms of address express honorification. Honorification can be defined as a special type of meaning that consists of information about the social and interpersonal relations between the speaker and the addressee, the speaker and the hearer, and the speaker and the protagonist of the predication. As far as their place in the syntactic structure is concerned, forms of address can either be integrated with the other elements of a predication or not. However, they are always part of a predication’s semantic structure. Moreover, forms of address convey the speaker’s attitude to the meaning of the predicate that they want to convey, which consequently means that forms of address also carry a modal element. Modality can be defined as a situation in which an individual is in a particular mental state, i.e. exhibits some kind of attitude to a situation or a type of situations.Forms of address can be categorised as modal operators conveying imperatives, requests, suppositions, etc. The term "operator" can be used for a unit of language when it changes the semantic structure of the predication. My research on honorification is mainly based on contemporary corpora, both monolingual and multilingual. In the present study, I analyse forms of address which carry imperative and optative meanings. Formy adresatywne jako dyskretne operatory modalneW obrębie wyrażeń realizujących funkcje grzecznościowe znajduje się grupa form adresatywnych. Są one częścią kategorii honoryfikatywności rozumianej jako szczególny rodzaj znaczenia zawartego w treści wypowiedzi, informację o towarzysko-społecznej relacji między nadawcą a odbiorcą, nadawcą a słuchaczem oraz nadawcą a bohaterem wypowiedzi. Gramatycznie formy adresatywne mogą być zarówno zintegrowane, jak i niezintegrowane syntaktycznie z resztą wypowiedzi, ale zawsze są częścią semantycznej struktury zdania. Wyrażają one także stosunek mówiącego do komunikatu, jaki przekazuje odbiorcom komunikatu, i tym samym mają przekaz modalny. Przez modalność autor rozumie sytuację, w której dane indywiduum (osoba) znajduje się w danym stanie mentalnym, tj. ma określony stosunek do szeregu sytuacji i typów sytuacji.Formy adresatywne można uznać za dyskretne operatory modalne zawierające takie treści, jak: rozkazuję ci, życzę sobie, przypuszczam i in. Termin ,,operator" używany jest w przypadkach, w których możemy go wskazać jako nośnika zmian w semantycznej strukturze zdania. Współczesne badania nad honoryfikatywnością autor opiera głównie na obecnie opracowywanych narodowych korpusach wielojęzycznych równoległych i jednojęzycznych i analizuje formy adresatywne o znaczeniu imperatywnym i optatywnym.

Istnieje wiele dostępnych usług sieciowych, z których można skorzystać, mając połączenie z siecią Internet. Artykuł omawia trzy wybrane usługi sieciowe, których zrozumienie opiera się na podstawowej wiedzy związanej z adresowaniem IP. Aby mieć dostęp do dowolnych zasobów WWW należy posiadać publiczny adres IP, który może być współdzielony przez wiele komputerów z zastosowaniem translacji NAT (statycznej lub dynamicznej) lub translacji z przeciążeniem adresów PAT. Adres IP dla komputera może być przypisany ręcznie lub przydzielony dynamicznie poprzez usługę DHCP. Aby przeglądarka internetowa właściwe zinterpretowała adres domenowy musi być dostępna usługa odwzorowująca ten adres na adres IP zrozumiały dla oprogramowania sieciowego. There are many services available online, you can use with an Internet connection. The article discusses three selected web services which understanding is based on basic knowledge related to IP addressing. To have access to any web resources one must have a public IP address which may be shared by multiple computers using the NAT translation (static or dynamic) or the overload PAT translation. The IP address for the computer may be assigned manually or dynamically by the DHCP service. An internet browser must have access to a service mapping IP addresses for networking software to properly interpret the domain address. The article presents these issues.

Steganography is a technique that allows hidden transfer of data using some media such as Image, Audio, Video, Network Protocol or a Document, without its existence getting noticed. Over the past few years, a lot of research has been done in the field of Image, Video and Audio Steganography but very little work has been done in Network Steganography. A Network Steganography technique hides data in a Network Data Unit, i.e., a Network Protocol Packet. In this paper we present an algorithm ARPNetSteg that implements Network Steganography using the Address resolution protocol. Our technique is a robust technique that can transfer 44 bits of covert data per ARP reply packet.

A direct address – in visual and audiovisual forms of communication – occurs any time one or more characters inside the fictional world look straight at the spectators, blurring the threshold that separates the images from flesh-and-blood reality. However, different forms of direct address can take place in several media contexts, based on the specificity of each given medium. This is particularly urgent with respect to two types of direct address: the theatrical and cine-matic ones. While the former has studied thoroughly, mainly based on Bertolt Brecht’s dramaturgy, the latter – also known as “look at the camera” – is arguably less understood. In the absence of a dedicated conceptualization, the cinemat¬ic direct address has commonly been treated merely as a transmedia counterpart of the theatrical one, thus overlooking the peculiarities of the two. This article restores the autonomy of the cinematic direct address and elaborates on its specific non-the atrical effects. First, it outlines the nature and functioning of the theatrical direct address as theorized by Bertolt Brecht. Then, by adopting a semiotic approach, it demonstrates that this type of direct address must not be confused with the cinematic one. Lastly, it introduces three non-Brechtian types of cinematic direct address: namely, the diegetic, the meta-filmic, and the documentary look at the camera.

At this moment there is a lack of research respecting Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANET) address assignment methods used in Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN). The goal of this paper is to review the SDAD, WDAD and Buddy methods of IP address assignment known from MANET in difficult environment of Delay and Disruptive Tolerant Networks. Our research allows us for estimating the effectiveness of the chosen solution and, therefore, to choose the most suitable one for specified conditions. As a part of the work we have created a tool which allows to compare these methods in terms of capability of solving address conflicts and network load. Our simulator was created from scratch in Java programming language in such a manner, that implementation of new features and improvements in the future will be as convenient as possible.

The effect of the power amplifier on speech intelligibility in public address systems is often marginalised – i.e. it is assumed that it does not introduce significant signal distortion. This approach is justified when the linear range of the amplifier is used. The large crest factor of the speech signal and economic considerations mean that the amplifier also works in the non-linear range. In this paper, the effect of power amplifier distortion on the speech transmission index for public address systems (STIPA) is presented. In the first step, this influence was evaluated by measurements for Class AB and D amplifiers. Then, a computer model of the public address system based on the direct STIPA method, taking into account the non-linear properties of the amplifier, was proposed. Using the computer model, the optimum amplifier driving values were determined taking into account the reverberation time and interfering noise.speech transmission index; power amplifier; public address system.

This paper investigates the use of address forms among the academic staff of the Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies at the Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria. The aim is to find out whether there is variation in the use of the terms between the members of academic staff of the Faculty which has six Departments (Arabic, English, History, Islamic Studies and Sharia, Nigerian Languages, Linguistics and Foreign Languages). An Ethnography research method and the Variationist Sociolinguistics Theory are used to collect and analyze the data. Following the findings, three address forms are presented in more detail, namely titles, nicknames, and kinship terms. Special attention is put to the title Malam, which originally referred to a teacher or a person versed in Islamic knowledge, but nowadays is used more commonly than any other type of address forms. The research shows that age, gender, social status, degree of intimacy, and context of communication determine the use of the address forms among academic staff. The findings reveal that the staff members of The Faculty favor traditional address terms which are used in Hausa society rather than the terms Corresponding to their professional rank. In addition, these address forms are culture specific and the dominant culture is Hausa.

Oznaczenia adresowe są nierzucającym się w oczy elementem krajobrazu zdecydowanej większości miast świata. W otaczającej nas przestrzeni publicznej odgrywają rolę informacyjną, a nierzadko również estetyczną. Wizualny aspekt oznaczeń adresowych stanowi konsekwencję odnoszących się do nich regulacji administracyjnoprawnych, które bezpośrednio (określając formę lub treść oznaczeń adresowych) lub pośrednio (np. statuując określony podział terytorialny miasta) wpływają na ich wygląd. Oparta na przykładzie Krakowa analiza historycznej ewolucji formy i treści oznaczeń adresowych pozwala na identyfikację powiązań, jakie mają one ze strukturą organizacyjno-prawną miasta oraz z jej rozwojem na przestrzeni dziejów. Wykazane na podstawie odwołań do koncepcji estetyki prawa oraz nietekstualiów w prawie zależności w tym zakresie umożliwiają traktowanie oznaczeń adresowych jako elementów lokalnego dziedzictwa kulturowego, a także desygnatów dziedzictwa prawa administracyjnego in genere.
Address markings are an unobtrusive element of the landscape of the vast majority of cities in the world. In the public space that surrounds us, they play an informative and often aesthetic role. The visual aspect of address designations is a consequence of the administrative and legal regulations relating to them, which directly (specifying the form or content of the address designations) or indirectly (e.g. by establishing a specific territorial division of the city) affect their appearance. An analysis of the historical evolution of the form and content of address markings, based on the example of Cracow, allows for the identification of the links they have with the organizational and legal structure of the city and its development throughout history. The dependencies in this respect, demonstrated on the basis of references to the concept of legal aesthetics and non-textual law, make it possible to treat address designations as elements of local cultural heritage, as well as designates of administrative law in genere.

The present outline is an attempt to describe the changes which occurred in the Polish and Czech address system following 1989. In the centre of attention there are standard, professional  and  functional  terms  of  address  and  also  their  combinations  with  a  name  and surname. The author defines the factors influencing the Polish and Czech address system. Among them, he discerns not only the political and economic ones but also points to the historical, cultural and moral conditions. Special  attention  has  been  paid  to  new  phenomena  observable  in  the  studied  address systems and to the direction of their potential alterations.
