    Opis:
    Paper presented the results of excavations conducted on the site Čierne zeme at Zvolen (Slovakia). Within the trench a segment of Hron river paleochannel was uncovered. It was partially filled with cultural sediments, which were naturally accumulated as a result of undercutting the banks of Hron during the periods of water surge. The trunks discovered within the sediments were radiocarbon dated to the time span between 2470 and 2280 BC. Besides them cultural layer yielded also some stone artifacts and collection of pottery fragments. The second one represent mainly the cultural traditions (e.g. Makó-Kosihy-Čaka culture) from the turn of Eneolithic and Bronze Age periods, what corresponds well with the radiocarbon dating of wood. Described site is another settlement point dated to this period in the Zvolen Basin. Younger group of pottery originates from Modern Era (16th-17th century AD) and may be connected with existence of communication route running along Hron river.

    The aim of considerations is the analysis of the cultural space of neighbouring places situated in central Slovakia, namely Banska Bystrica and Zvolen. Basing on historical and ethnographic data the attempt was made to show the existence of various types of borders between the centers in question (a geographic, political, economic, economic, cultural and linguistic one). The emptirical studies assumed that the way of perceiving and interpreting the influence of the the very borders on people’s daily life, as well as their former and current influence on the local / town identity of inhabitants will be captured. The emphasis was put on presenting the actions of the inhabitants having a competitive and cooperative nature that have shaped the present-day economic, social and cultural needs, as well as the influence of a domestic and local politics aiming at forming one regional centre.

    This paper considers the cultural heritage and global / local manifestation in urban spaces. It focuses on cultural monuments, phenomena, events and the image of the city, which form a historical continuum and the part of today's city culture with the overlap between global and local elements, forms and functions. Global and local manifestations enable compliance or conflict that may promote, encourage, even out or damage cultural heritage. Municipal institutions, NGOs, individuals and foreign investors and entrepreneurs enter into this process. The paper is the result of field research in Zvolen located in central Slovakia.

    Opis:
    The impact of air temperature on the formation of generative organs of the European hazel (Corylus avellana L.) and the onsets of related phenophases during the years 1987-2009 in Central Slovakia (the Zvolen basin) are analyzed in this paper. The analyses are based on the records of 10% and full onset of catkins lenghtening, inflorescence emergence and flowering. Catkins lengthening was observed on February 7th and lasted 10 days on average, inflorescence emergence on February 20th and 8 days and flowering on March 2nd and 6 days. The earliest dates of phenophases onsets were observed in 2007, while the latest in 1987 and 2005. A large variability of daily mean air temperatures in different years resulted also in a high variability of phenophases onsets (sx% 27.3-35.3). The onsets of spring phenophases earlier by 2.5-5.5 days were recorded at the end of the evaluated period of years as compared with the beginning. The concentration of pollen grains captured with a Burkard volumetric rotate pollen trap culminated approximately 10 days after flowering. The peak pollen grain concentration varied in a range of 50-500 pollen grains per m3. The peaks of pollen grains concentrations in the Zvolen Basin were influenced, apart from the flowering of the European hazel also by the transport of pollen grains from higher mountainous habitats especially in the late pollen season.
