This article describes how different attitudes towards reality develop as a result of living under a communist regime that undergoes dynamic economic and social transformation. The main focus is placed on Zhang Yimou, the renowned Chinese director, whose life and work seem to reflect on-going changes in a unique way,  showing a pattern closely correlated with the political and social situation in China. The author describes how two major revolutions, the Cultural Revolution and the following economic transformation of China, shaped the life of Zhang and influenced his work. When analyzed in depth, his movies form cycles which coincide with the rapidly changing social and political circumstances. Three such cycles are described: an independent movie-making stage, developing around the early stages of economic transformation and the events in Tiananmen Square in 1989; an intermediate stage related to the development of a new, semi-capitalist society in the nineties; and finally, a commercial stage related to the great economic boom of the first decade of the twenty-first century.

Pojedynczy kryształ BaGd2(MoO4)4 domieszkowany 1% at. Er3+ wyhodowano metodą Czochralskiego. Omówiono szczegóły procedury otrzymywania i wzrostu kryształu. Kryształ ma doskonałą płaszczyznę poślizgu (010), a jego łupliwość czyni go przydatnym jako ośrodek czynny w mikrolaserach. Zmierzono widmo absorpcyjne w zakresie światła widzialnego i bliskiej podczerwieni (NIR) w temperaturze pokojowej. W zakresie od 380 do 1600 nm występuje kilka intensywnych pików absorpcyjnych. Zmierzono również widmo fluorescencyjne wzbudzane za pomocą lampy ksenonowej. Zaobserwowano intensywny pik emisyjny NIR 1536 nm. Czasy trwania fluorescencji 4I13/2 oraz 4I11/2 wyznaczone za pomocą dopasowania krzywej wykładniczej wyniosły odpowiednio 5,85 ms i 112,62 μs. Ciepło właściw Er3+ BaGd2(MoO4)4 w 25°C wynosi 0,471 J g-1 K-1. Na podstawie zmierzonych widm obliczono parametry optyczne na podstawie teorii Judda-Ofelta (J–O).
A 1 at % Er3+ doped BaGd2(MoO4)4 single crystal was grown by the Czochralski method. Details on the preparation and growth procedures were discussed. The crystal has a perfect (010) cleavage plane, and the cleavage character makes the crystal suitable as a gain medium for microchip lasers. The absorption spectrum in the visible and near-infrared (NIR) regions was measured at room temperature. There are several strong absorption peaks in the range from 380 to 1600 nm. The fluorescence spectrum excited by a Xenon lamp was also measured. A strong NIR emission peak located at 1536 nm was observed. The fluorescence lifetimes of 4I13/2 and 4I11/23+:BaGd2(MoO4)4 at 25°C is 0.471 J g-1 K-1. Using the measured spectra, the optical parameters were calculated using the J–O theory.

Many light metals, such as aluminum and magnesium alloys, are promised to provide significant weight reduction for automobiles. However, the difficulties in welding these metals seriously hinder their large-scale applications. A new, hybrid mechanical joining process is proposed to avoid the inherited metallurgical complications in welding. By spinning and pressing a solid rivet into the metals, a joint is formed with the locking from the rivet, a stirred/mixed zone around the rivet, and solid bonding at the faying interface. This riveting process combines the actions of friction-stir welding in which metals of difierent sheets are mechanically mixed, and self-piercing riveting process which embeds a rivet in the sheets. Experiments have shown that such a friction-stir riveting process can produce joints of comparable strength to those created by other joining means, and can be applied to dififcult-to-weld metals and dissimilar metals, such as aluminum-to-aluminum, magnesium-to-magnesium, and aluminum-to-magnesium.

Experiments were performed in an interdigital micromixer with 30 microchannels (40 μm width of each channel) to separate In3+, Fe3+ and Zn2+ from sulfate solutions using Di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) as the extractant. The effects of pH, extractant concentration and flow rate on the extraction efficiency and flow rate on mass transfer coefficient of In3+, Fe3+ and Zn2+ were investigated. At a phase flow rate of 7.0 mL/min and initial solution pH of 0.423, the extraction efficiency of In3+, Fe3+ and Zn2+ was 99.29%, 3.43% and 2.54%, respectively and mass transfer coefficient of In3+, Fe3+ and Zn2+ was 144.307 s-1,1.018 s-1 and 0.750 s-1. Then, the loaded organic phase was stripped in an interdigital micromixer. At a phase flow rate of 9.0 mL/min and HCl concentration of 160 g/L, stripping efficiency of In3+ was 98.92% and mass transfer coefficient of In3+ was 169.808 s-1, while concentration of Fe3+ and Zn2+ was lower than 0.005 g/L with good separation of In3+ from Fe3+ and Zn2+.

Opis:
Trephination is one of the basic operations of keratoplasty, and the biomechanical mechanism of the operation can be revealed based on three-dimensional modeling and simulation of trephine cutting cornea. Methods: Based on the analysis of the physical and biomechanical characteristics of corneal trephination, a three-dimensional numerical model of corneal trephination is built, where the cornea can be simplified to two layers structure including stroma and epithelium, and the trephine cuts the cornea under the vertical motion load and the rotational motion load. A three-dimensional failure criterion of corneal material is proposed based on the yield strength theory. On this basis, trephination simulation is carried out, and the units of corneal material are removed from the model when they meet the defined failure criterion. Results: Under the given parameters including the velocity, the angle and the angular velocity, the trephine force curves, include the linear cutting force and the rotary cutting force are obtained, and show the change of the forces with displacement during the process of trephination simulation. The maps of the equivalent stress show the destruction and deformation of the cornea. Then, the experiment of robotic trephination is carried out under the same parameters and the effectiveness of the simulation is evaluated. Conclusions: Based on mechanics theory and finite element method, the process of trephine cutting cornea has been reproduced, and the interaction mechanism is revealed, which lays the foundation for the development of real-time simulation and virtual system of the corneal surgery.

Co-crystallization is proposed as an effective method to alter the physicochemical properties of energetic materials, e.g. density, sensitivity and solubility. As reported in this paper, it was found that 1-nitronaphthalene could form cocrystals with TNT, picric acid and MHN in a 1:1 molecular ratio. The sensitivity and thermal stability of the 1-nitronaphthalene co-crystals was greatly improved compared with that of pure TNT, picric acid and MHN. In addition, the melting points of TNT, picric acid and MHN were lowered through co-crystallization with 1-nitronaphthalene. The electrostatic potential surface of 1-nitronaphthalene, calculated by the DFT method, showed that the electron-rich 1-nitronaphthalene has a tendency to be a proton donor and to co-crystallize with other energetic materials. The structures of the co-crystals of 1-nitronaphthalene with TNT and picric acid were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD). The 1-nitronaphthalene/MHN co-crystal was studied by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and FTIR.

The spin Hamiltonian parameters (g factors $g_{∥ },$ $g_{⊥}$ and the hyperfine structure constants $A_{∥ },$ $A_{⊥}$) and the local structures for the two tetragonal $Cu^{2+}$ centers I and II in $Ca(OH)_2$ are theoretically studied from the perturbation formulae of these parameters for a $3d^9$ ion under tetragonally elongated octahedra. The $[Cu(OH)_6]^{4-}$ clusters on the substitutional $Ca^{2+}$ site are found to suffer the relative elongations by about 0.083 Å and 0.065 Å for centers I and II, respectively, along the $C_4$ axis due to the Jahn-Teller effect. The above tetragonal elongations may entirely depress the original trigonal distortion of the host $Ca^{2+}$ site in $Ca(OH)_2$. The calculated spin Hamiltonian parameters based on the above Jahn-Teller elongations show good agreement with the experimental results. The EPR spectra and the local structures for the two centers are compared with one another.

In order to develop new high-energy-density materials (HEDMs), we have investigated 12 substituted s-tetrazine (TZ) compounds, where s-tetrazine was substituted by amino, amido and related groups. Density functional theory (DFT) was used to predict the optimized geometries, electronic structures, total energy, heats of formation (HOFs) and densities. In addition the detonation properties were evaluated by using the VLW equation of state (EOS). The standard enthalpy of formation, the Gibbs free energy, entropy and equilibrium constants were used to estimate the success of the synthetic substitution reactions, which provided theoretical support for practical work. The bond dissociation energy (BDE) of bond C-R was calculated at each stage of the substitution reaction. The calculated results showed that substitution of amino, amido and their derivatives in the TZ ring enhances the HOF values and is favorable for increasing the thermal stability. The calculated detonation properties indicated that incorporating the above groups into the TZ ring is benefcial for improving the explosive performance. Considering the detonation properties and thermal stability, the 12 derivatives may be regarded as promising candidates as high-energy-density materials (HEDMs).

The text presents judicial reforms of the Supreme People’s Court of China (SPC). The author argues that during a twenty-year period, the role of the SPC has underwent two major transitions. Firstly, its role of a dispute solver evolved into a designer and a leading voice of the judicial system in China. Secondly, it shifted its position from a passive implementer of laws and policies into an active public policy maker. The text also offers an insight into the SPC’s enhancement of human rights protection, efforts to establish the evidence rule system, as well as its role in promoting judicial transparency.

Due to the different construction of various subsystems in the power grid, the information of various systems are not closely connected. Nowadays, the network is complex and changeable where the automation is getting higher. This article takes high-risk equipment set of substation in Liaoyang as the research background. It constructs HR-Tree for the device set, and establishes a high-risk equipment evaluation system which based on the HR-Tree context. Then we calculate high-risk equipment sets in the structure of overall data set. By establishing the original data set and the prior knowledge system of equipment risk, the non-candidate high-risk equipment set is reduced in the local path of the high-risk equipment set. We refer to the process of reducing data as minus branch. After the threshold is established, the branches are reduced and the highest risk equipment set is obtained. Finally, we use the scoring system to find the probability of occurrence of associated devices, such information is more open. Example showed that such methods could effectively express high-risk device sets, and managers could get early warning information based on this. It helps people monitoring the power system, w hich could also provides new ideas for the monitoring project.

The vibrational dynamics of water around glycine was investigated by using Raman spectroscopy and inelastic neutron scattering. Experiments of deuterated glycine versus deuterium were performed as comparison. The study shows that for glycine, the exchange of proton-deuteron on the active NH$\text{}_{3}^{+}$ side was easy, whereas there was hardly exchange on the CH$\text{}_{2}$ side. Comparing different proportion of glycine vs. water molecules we obtained that the presence of water hardly changes the main features of glycine illustrating its hydrophobic character. The intralayer hydrogen bonds of glycine crystal are difficult to be replaced due to its stronger bond than water.

The topic’s relevance is based on solving the problems of the influence of preschool education experience on the multidimensional non-cognitive abilities and personality development of adolescents. The purpose of the article was to analyse the problems of the formation of multidimensional non-cognitive processes, substantiating and determining the non-cognitive abilities of preschool children: highly developed personality, giftedness, intelligence, soft skills and conducting an experiment using the basic survey of the 2013-2014 school years conducted by the Chinese Expert Research on Education (CEPS) at Renmin University (China). The methodological approach of the research was based on the methods of analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalisation of literary sources on the problem of researching the formation of multidimensional non-cognitive abilities, graphic methods for visual illustration and comparison of the results of the ascertaining and formative stages of the research. The content of the main concepts of “abilities” and “non-cognitive abilities” is determined, and their features and features are revealed. The identified non-cognitive abilities and their indicators, as well as the methods of their formation, can be used as methodical material for universities and for the personal development of individual preschool education specialists in near and far foreign countries.

Restoration of the urban river system is urgently needed as urban river pollution is becoming an important environmental problem in China. Apart from the technical challenge, explicitly including the local residents’ preferences toward ecosystem management and restoration often is critical for municipal planners and policy implementation. This study used a contingent valuation method to estimate the public preferences for supporting urban river restoration in Hangzhou and Nanjing, China. The results show that environmental preferences including perception, beliefs and past behavior were better explanatory variables than socio-demographic characteristics for explaining people’s support for ecosystem restoration actions. But the respondents’ demand and supply on environment goods are mismatch. People want better environments goods but they are unwilling to make an effort to build the environments. We also find that the average conjectural payment for the restoration project is only 36 Yuan RMB per capital. Efforts to assess and foster support for urban ecosystem restoration should be pay more attentions to the public’s perception, beliefs and past behavior.
Odnowa środowiska rzecznego na terenach zurbanizowanych staje się w Chinach ważnym problemem środowiskowym, z uwagi na wysoki poziom zanieczyszczeń. Oprócz wyzwań technicznych, wyraźne uwzględnienie preferencji lokalnych społeczności odnoszących się do zarządzania środowiskiem i jego restytucji stanowi istotne wyzwanie dla miejskich planistów i wdrażanych programów. W tym artykule zastosowano metodę wyceny warunkowej w celu określenia społecznych preferencji związanych z wdrażanym programem odnowy środowiska rzecznego w Hangzou i Najing w Chinach. Otrzymane wyniki pokazują, że preferencje środowiskowe (uwzględniające percepcję, przekonania i dotychczasowe wzorce zachowania) okazały się być trafniejszymi zmiennymi wyjaśniającymi, niż wskaźniki społeczno-demograficzne, w kontekście wyjaśniania poziomu społecznego wsparcia dla działań podejmowanych na rzecz restytucji środowiska. Zarazem popyt i podaż respondentów na dobra środowiskowe rozmijają się. Ludzie oczekują lepszej jakości środowiska, ale nie są zainteresowani podejmowaniem osobistych działań w tym kierunku. Okazało się także, że przeciętny poziom hipotetycznego finansowego wsparcia respondentów dla działań na rzecz środowiska wynosi zaledwie 36 yuanów RMB za kapitał.
