Opis:
Examinations of the described object were undertaken because of building works carried out on the ground neighbouring the Łódź ZOO, that is at the site of a Lusatian Culture settlement from the IV th and V th phase of the Bronze Age. The site had been explored by the workers without archaeological supervision until the final stage of building works. Excavations resulted in recovering and registration of 6 dwelling pits and a cultural layer of the mid-Poland Lusatian culture group. Only the object no. 6 has been preserved in its greatest part. The remaining objects were devoid of full outline and higher layers of the filling. The object no. 6 was most probably a household object of a semi- sunken hut type. In spite of a large size of the object on the level on which it was distinguished (302 by 160 cm), its size reaches only 250 x 160 cm at the bottom level, what excludes its dwelling character. Presumably it was a storage object. During exploration, in the western part of the cave, a readable filling was observable, clearly distinguishing from the rest of the object (by a light brown colouring). It reflected axially the outline o f the object and occupied 1/3 of its surface. A borderline between its two parts ran across the pit. May be we deal here with the case o f traces of inner division, the objective of which was to isolate part of stored products or articles. The shallower part of the pit, situated on the opposite side, may be interpreted as a stair enabling entering the object. The relic material includes fragments of ceramics and more rarely flint artefacts and pugging. Stylistics and technology in which the pottery was made allow to relate the examined site to the IV th phase of the Bronze Age.

Opis:
Excavations conducted in 1999 in Łódź Łaskowice, site 273 were of rescue character. As a result, the western edge of a multicultural settlement complex has been excavated. The area included elements of the Świder culture (late Paleolithic), Trzciniec culture (II and I/III periods of the Bronze Age), Lusatian culture (Hallstatt D), Przeworsk culture (Roman period) and the Middle Ages. Relics of the Trzciniec culture (most of settlement pits, cultural layer, prevailing part of material) were predominant among the distinguished units. Elements typical of its classical development stage - period II of the Bronze Age as well as younger materials representing the declining phase dated to the turn of period II. As regards establishing chronology of the finds, ceramic materials are of great importance. They comprise elements referring to older development period of the Trzciniec culture (bowls, elements of the Otomani culture), which should be recognized as the earliest in the assemblage. The classical Trzciniec culture is represented by typical vessels with thickened rims, decorated with plastic round bands. Determinant of late development phases is, among others, vase form decorated with plastic bow-shaped band placed on the belly. The elements under consideration are dated by numerous analogies from Little Poland to the turn of period II of the Bronze Age. A considerable concentration of Trzciniec culture settlement points has been registered around the discussed site. In period III of the Bronze Age this centre became a starting point of an early phase of the Lusatian culture - Konstantynów group on the upper Ner. The Lusatian culture materials from its declining period (Hallstatt D) appeared on the discussed site, though on a smaller scale. The materials probably correspond to the east-Great-Poland group. The other units that have been distinguished at the beginning of the work have been recorded within the excavated area of the site in scanty amount.

Opis:
In 2011, an archaeological supervision was carried out in the town of Łowicz, related to construction works. In the course of works, a small number of artefacts was found, dated to the late Middle Ages and the early modern period. The most interesting find is a group of 9 temple rings deposited in the excavation unit no. III, upon which organic remains of textile products were found. The discovered decorative artefacts are temple rings representing the type III according to the classification by K. Musianowicz or the variant B according to the classification by H. Kóčkę-Krenz. The textile remains have been preserved in residual form on six out of nine temple rings. These are small fragments of threads and remains of mineralized fibres. On four artefacts, both thread and fibre parts were visible. All thread fragments were produced of plant fibre, most probably, the universally employed linen. The threads are Z-twisted, the twist being very weak. The state of preservation of other fibres surviving on the surface of the temple rings was too poor to enable detailed technological analyses. The described temple rings were most probably originally deposited in a grave that was destroyed in unknown circumstances. It can be stated that the textile evidence does not differ from other finds of this type from the discussed period.
