The religious education which prepares for Confirmation should be incessantly renewed. It results from the unprecedented pace of civilizational changes, on which the youth are exposed. They need reinforcement which the Sacrament of Confirmation brings. It alsoconstitutes the unusual chance in the process of faith of the young man. Seeking the optimal model of the religious education for Confirmation, and more widely a youth chaplaincy, is an expression of care of the young man. Using mutual experience and learning from each other can bring new and valuable inspiration. One can see it on the example of compared organizational elements of the religious education which prepares for Confirmation in Poland and in Germany. Without their proper forming even the best selected content and methods of the transmission will not be able to bring full fruits.

Artykuł prezentuje kulturowy obraz śmierci z teologiczno-filozoficznego punktu widzenia. Do zbadania tego zjawiska wykorzystana została metoda etnolingwistyczna. Tekst uwzględnia szczególnie zmiany postaw i emocji wobec śmierci na przestrzeni różnych epok, począwszy od starożytności a skończywszy na (po)nowoczesności. Następnie ukazany został sposób przedstawienia śmierci w Biblii, a także w naukach głoszonych przez Ojców Kościoła, by w końcowej części zweryfikować dotychczasowe poglądy z tym, co myślą o niej młode osoby uczęszczające do szkoły podstawowej − jak definiują śmierć, czy się jej obawiają. Zadaniem uczniów było udzielenie odpowiedzi na pytania dotyczące szeroko pojętej śmierci. Kolejne pytania związane były z fizycznymi objawami śmierci, emocjami jej towarzyszącymi, a także z przyczynami umierania ludzi. Respondenci musieli również odpowiedzieć na pytanie: czy ludzie się jej obawiają, a także jakie uczucia w nich wywołuje?
The article presents the cultural image of death from the theological and philosophical point of view. I used the ethnolinguistic method to investigate this phenomenon. The text particularly takes into account changes in attitudes and emotions towards death throughout the various periods of history, ranging from antiquity to modernity. Next, the method of presenting death in the Bible, as well as the teachings preached by the Church Fathers was presented to finally verify the current views with what young people attending primary school think about it — how they define death or are afraid of death. The students' task was to answer questions about death in a broad sense. The next questions concerned the physical symptoms of death, the accompanying emotions, and the causes of death. Respondents also had to answer the questions whether people are afraid of it and the question concerning the feelings it evokes.

Smartphones offer a vast range of possibilities, keep people actively involved in building relationships with others. These devices have changed the way we consume various kinds of content, spend our free time, use the Internet, shop, or watch movies. Thanks to smartphones, new ways of communication and building relationships have emerged. They were supposed to serve mainly as facilitating communication but with time they started to create the surrounding reality. While the smartphone offers great opportunities to innovate, learn and stimulate creativity, there is evidence of negative consequences for the mental health of users. The article addresses the problem of problematic mobile phone use by young people. The danger of becoming dependent on a mobile phone was pointed out and the specificity of phonoholism as a new form of behavioral addiction was presented. First, the symptoms of excessive smartphone use will be presented along with dimensions and the reasons why people use them so often. Then, issues related to problematic mobile phone use will be presented, such as prevalence, questionnaire methods and consequences. Finally, the author discusses the risk factors of excessive use of smartphones.

The study aim was determining gender-related differences of underwater undulatory swimming (UUS) kinematic indicators and their impact on UUS velocity. Methods: The study included 18 girls (F: age 16.71 ± 0.64 years, FINA points 551 ± 68) and 23 boys (M: age 16.79 ± 0.57 years, FINA points 533 ± 66) training swimming. After marking characteristic anatomical points, subjects performed approximately 7 meters of UUS. A filming device placed behind the underwater window registered the trial. Recordings were analysed using the SkillSpector programme. Results: Boys swam faster (F: 1.24 m/s, M: 1.35 m/s), overcame a greater distance during one cycle (F: 0.67 m, M: 0.74 m), performed movements with higher toes amplitude (F: 0.58 m, M: 0.63 m), obtained higher amplitude and frequency product (F: 1.05, M: 1.15) and smaller ankle joint range of motion (F: 64°, M: 57°). In both groups, relationships between velocity and: maximal ankle joint extension, distance covered during one cycle and backward toes shift during downward movement were found. The results were statistically significant ( p < 0.05). Conclusions: Girls and boys differed in kinematic indicator level, but UUS velocity depends on identical kinematic variables, meaning UUS technical training can be performed without gender-division.

The purpose of serving a prison sentence is not isolating but inducing the perpetrators of crimes to refrain from committing offences in the future. This is possible when there are positive changes in their attitudes, and in particular when they create a need to respect the legal order and a sense of responsibility for their actions. For this purpose, in addition to other means of influence such as work, education, social contacts, cultural and educational activities and sports, or therapy, it is proposed to the detainees to participate in group resocialization programs. The article presents an example of resocialization program dedicated to convicted juveniles entitled “Butterfly Effect”. It presents the theoretical foundations of the program, the spectrum of objectives and results, the methods to achieve them, and scenario activities.

The main purpose of this study was to determine the influence of different types of surfaces on the sprint test results. 33 male football players from two age categories - U15 and U18 - performed sprint tests (7 distances between 5 and 30m) and a 150m shuttle run test on three types of surfaces: natural grass [n], a synthetic surface [s] and a rubber surface [r]. The longer distance a player covers, the more likely it is that the importance of the type of running surface will be noticed. The rubber surface diminishes the negative effects of changeable factors on the reliability of the tests and therefore, in our opinion, is recommended for control tests and especially for longitudinal tests. Comparing the results of running speed tests performed on different surfaces and especially in different weather conditions is unjustified.

Wielki wpływ na odczuwanie młodych i stosunek do nich kard. Karola Wojtyły (Jana Pawła II) miał Czcigodny Sługa Boży ks. Franciszek Blachnicki. Można też mówić o drodze odwrotnej. Karol Wojtyła i Franciszek Blachnicki żyli w jedności ideałów i stali się „śladem” przechodzącego przez swój Kościół Boga. Oni przyjęli łaskę Boga, a ona już wszystko poprowadziła właściwie w ich życiu. Zostali przeniknięci Duchem Bożym i On ewidentnie przez nich działał. By zobaczyć wpływ ks. Blachnickiego na postrzeganie młodych przez Jana Pawła II, a także i drogę odwrotną, trzeba sięgnąć do historii nawrócenia i życia łaski Franciszka Blachnickiego, by na takim tle ukazać niektóre ślady ich rozumienia Kościoła, szczególnie tego Kościoła młodych ludzi. Jasne też jest, że kard. Karol Wojtyła, a później Jan Paweł II miał także wyraźny wpływ na to, co działo się w rozwoju myśli duszpasterskiej i troski o młodych chrześcijan przez ks. Franciszka Blachnickiego. To ks. Blachnicki przyczynił się do zrozumienia posoborowej teologii Kościoła jako wspólnoty. On budował żywy Kościół, dbał i wprowadził w życie odnowę liturgiczną i sam żył misterium liturgii. A to samo można z całą pewnością powiedzieć o papieżu Janie Pawle II. Oni tym żyli i do tego prowadzili innych chrześcijan, w tym zwłaszcza młodych.
The Venerable Servant of God Fr. Franciszek Blachnicki had a great influence on Cardinal Karol Wojtyła’s (John Paul II) feelings about and attitude toward the young. One can also claim the reverse. Karol Wojtyła and Franciszek Blachnicki lived in unity of ideals and became a “footprint” of God passing through His Church. They accepted the grace of God, and it had already guided everything properly in their lives. They were permeated by the Spirit of God and He evidently worked through them. In order to see Fr. Blachnicki’s influence on John Paul II’s perception of the young, as well as the other way round, it is necessary to go back to the story of Franciszek Blachnicki’s conversion and life of grace, to show against such a background some traces of their understanding of the Church, especially the Church of young people. But it is also clear, I think, that Cardinal Karol Wojtyła and later John Paul II also had a clear influence on what was happening in the development of pastoral thought and concern for young Christians by Fr. Franciszek Blachnicki. It was Fr. Blachnicki who contributed to the post-Council understanding of the theology of the Church as a community. He built a living Church, cared for and implemented liturgical renewal and lived the mystery of the liturgy. And the same can certainly be said of Pope John Paul II. They both lived this and led other Christians, including especially young people, to this.

The article deals with the representation of Italian pronunciation in five contemporary dictionaries for young Slovenian learners. As the use of a dictionary not only stimulates the development of lexical competence, but can also serve as a useful means for pronunciation learning, the article investigates five categories representing phonetic-phonological features in a dictionary: introduction to phonetics/phonology (e.g. a pronunciation guide), phonetic transcription, phonemes, consonant length and accent. The representation of these features in a dictionary for young learners should be clear and coherent, and in some cases a dictionary (especially a dictionary intended for the youngest users) should also featureaudio pronunciations. The five dictionaries analysed are fragmentary with regard to the pronunciation: only one dictionary includes audio recordings (although the relation between the spelling and the pronunciation remains unclear, as it does not include a pronunciation guide); two dictionaries include deficient phonological transcriptions and incomplete pronunciation guides; one dictionary contains only the Italian alphabet with corresponding phonemes, while another dictionary is without any elements that could familiarize a Slovenian learner with Italian pronunciation.

The term ‘graveyard poetry’ or Graveyard School of Poetry is used in the history of literature to refer to a collection of English poems of the 18th century whose character is primarily meditative and refl exive. The graveyard poets chose intensely emotional lyric genres such as dramatised and full of strong emotions meditative monologue, elegy or last will. They allowed the authors to express deeply subjective and intimate feelings, which revealed the supressed and hidden in the social discourse unoffi cial aspect of their psyche. They led to poetry which is direct, personal, confessional, intimate and reaching out of the rigour of Neoclassical convention. The compositions refl ected on mortality and immortality, passing of time, fragility of human life, horror of death, interment, grave, ‘coffi n bed’ after death, symbolism of the dead, decomposing bodies and bleak cemetery night and silence. They were full of sorrow, lugubriousness, grievance, dispair and melancholy caused by irreparable loss of a close person who passed away. They asked dramatic questions about the sense of life and death, about the meaning of the symbolism of graves for the living and the postmortem ‘what’s next’. The graveyard poetry literary and artistically wise ennobled and canonised the motif of grave and cemetery, which changed into meaningful and symbolic scenery. The Graveyard School of Poetry might have appeared to be a reaction to modern and scientifi c conversion of the world and universe image and therefore might have seemed to be a regressive and nostalgic turn towards Middle Ages and Baroque. In fact, it was paving the way for the future as well as for the romantic, radical revaluation and changes in literature, especially through opening towards subjective, extreme emotions of an individual, striving for direct poetic form of expression and by virtue of concentrating on boundary existential refl ection. The history of literature features above others the names of two poets who were the fi rst to compose poems initiating the graveyard poetry movement as a collective historical-literary phenomenon and infl uencing the successors – a Scottish poet, Robert Blair, the author of The Grave and Edward Young, the author of The Complaint, or Night Thoughts on Life, Death, and Immortality.

Synod Biskupów dotyczący duszpasterstwa młodzieży, który odbył się w 2018 roku, zauważa, iż posługa pastoralna prowadzona wśród ludzi młodych powinna odbywać się przede wszystkim na poziomie parafii w ramach duszpasterstwa zwyczajnego. Jednak działalność zbawcza Kościoła wśród młodzieży wymaga także obecności elementów duszpasterstwa nadzwyczajnego, co ma dokonywać się poprzez odpowiednie przygotowanie samego duszpasterza i pomagających mu animatorów. Takie działanie może przyczynić się do efektywności prowadzonych działań pastoralnych. Niewątpliwie konieczne wydają się również: wizja, strategia prowadzenia duszpasterstwa na szczeblu diecezji, dekanatu i parafii, a także znajomość kondycji duchowej młodego człowieka, jego trudności oraz środowiska życia. Duszpasterstwo młodzieży diecezji opolskiej stara się na te wyzwania odpowiedzieć i poprzez różnego rodzaju inicjatywy oraz chrześcijańską formację stałą pomaga młodym i towarzyszy im w spotkaniu z osobą Jezusa Chrystusa.
The Synod of the Bishops concerning youth ministry, which took place in 2018, points out that pastoral ministry conducted among young people should take place primarily on the parish level as part of the ordinary ministry. However, salutary activity of the Church among youth requires also the presence of extraordinary, categorical ministry elements, which should happen through proper preparation of the priest himself and the animators that are helping him. Such activity can contribute to effectiveness of conducted pastoral actions. Without doubts it seems that the vision and strategy of ministry conducting on the level of diocese, deanery and parish, as well as the knowledge of spiritual condition of young people, their difficulties and living environment are necessary. The youth ministry in the Diocese of Opole is trying to answer to this challenges and through various types of initiatives and Christian constant formation desires to help the young people and accompany them to the meeting with the person of Jesus Christ.

Respiratory tract infections are the most common communicable diseases, which include pharyngitis, otitis media, rhinosinusitis, laryngitis, bronchitis and pneumonia. Although the majority of pathogenic agents responsible for these conditions are cosmopolitan, the differences in frequency and severity of these diseases associated with climate and living conditions may appear. The aim of the study is to assess if there are significant differences in frequency and severity of respiratory tract infections in different countries. A survey, consisting of 49 questions involving the frequency of respiratory tract infections, antibiotics’ usage and demographic data was delivered to the users of a social network used to finding penfriends from abroad. Collected data was statistically analyzed and compared with climate conditions and economic indices in different countries. 462 respondents, aged 12-79 (mean age 25,15 ± 9,43, median 23) from 119 countries submitted their answers. First raw, preliminary data describe a prevalence of different types of respiratory tract infections and commonness of antibiotic therapy. This initial report with preliminary results of the survey should be a first step towards determining the differences in frequency and severity of respiratory tract infections, as well as in antibiotic treatment. Data gained during the survey need further analysis.

Opis:
The objective of the article is to analyse the interest evinced by young Polish consumers in corporate social responsibility and trust towards it. The deliberations are based on the results of research carried out in 2015 on a sample of 963 consumers aged between 19 and 35, who live in the biggest urban agglomerations. The study examines the issue of young consumers’ knowledge of and interest evinced in CSR as well as their trust in socially responsible actions, and attitudes towards products offered by companies that do not respect the rules of social responsibility. The analysis makes use of the indicators of the structure and power of correlations among the variables. The study has revealed relatively low awareness of the ideas behind corporate social responsibility among young Poles – every fifth declared knowing it and simultaneously two thirds would like to widen their knowledge about it. The consequence of such modest interest is indifference towards companies’ declarations of CSR – few young consumers trust them. Every fourth young Pole, however, is ready to boycott products of companies whose activity they do not accept.
Celem artykułu jest analiza zainteresowania młodych polskich konsumentów społeczną odpowiedzialnością przedsiębiorstw i zaufania wobec niej. Podstawą rozważań są wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w 2015 roku na próbie 963 konsumentów w wieku 19-35 lat, zamieszkujących największe aglomeracje. W badaniu poruszono problematykę wiedzy i zainteresowania młodych konsumentów społeczną odpowiedzialnością przedsiębiorstw, ich zaufania wobec działań społecznie odpowiedzialnych, postaw wobec produktów oferowanych przez firmy, które nie respektują zasad społecznej odpowiedzialności. W analizie wykorzystano wskaźniki struktury oraz miary korelacji pomiędzy zmiennymi. Badanie wykazało relatywnie niski poziom świadomości młodych Polaków odnośnie idei odpowiedzialności społecznej przedsiębiorstw – jej znajomość zadeklarował co piąty z nich, jednocześnie dwie trzecie chciałoby swą wiedzę w tym obszarze poszerzyć. Konsekwencją niewielkiego zainteresowania jest obojętność wobec deklaracji przedsiębiorstw w zakresie CSR – niewielu młodych konsumentów ma wobec nich zaufanie. Co czwarty młody Polak jest jednak gotowy do bojkotowania produktów przedsiębiorstw, których działań nie akceptuje.
Цель статьи – провести анализ интереса молодых польских потребителей к корпоративной социальной ответственности и доверия к ней. Основу рассуждений представляют результаты обследований, проведенных в 2015 г. на выборке 963 потребителей в возрасте 19-35 лет, проживающих в самых крупных агломерациях. В обследовании затронули проблематику знаний и интереса молодых потребителей к корпоративной социальной ответственности, их доверия к социально ответственным действиям, отношения к продуктам, предлагаемым фирмами, которые не соблюдают принципы социальной ответственности. В анализе использовали показатели структуры и меры корреляции между переменными. Обследование выявило относительно низкий уровень сознательности молодых поляков насчет идеи корпоративной социальной ответственности – знание ее декларировал каждый пятый из них; заодно, две трети хотели бы свои знания в этой области повысить. Результат небольшого интереса – безразличность к заявлениям предприятий в области КСО – немногие молодые потребители им доверяют. Каждый четвертый молодой поляк, однако, готов бойкотировать продукты предприятий, действия которых он не одобряет.
