Pesticides are chemicals that are used to control and avoid fruit losses from pests and diseases in fruit production. Various kinds of pesticides have been used in sweet cherry growing to increase yield and farm income in Turkey. This study was conducted to analyze the farm-level of pesticide use in sweet cherry growing in West Mediterranean region of Turkey. Data was collected from 89 growers using the simple random sampling method. Results of this research show that the average usage of agricultural chemicals are 53 349.50 g per hectare as an active ingredient in the sweet cherry growing. The percentages of used agricultural chemicals are 79.82, 19.11 and 1.07% copper sulphates, pesticides and winter & mineral oils +DNOC, respectively. It was calculated that economic loss was €162.92 per hectare due to overdose of agricultural chemicals. Chi square test analysis showed that, there was a significant relationship between farmers' pesticide use practices and farm size, listening agriculture related program on radio, information needs in disease, insects and pests management, applying protective pesticides and use personal protecting equipment.
Pestycydy są związkami chemicznymi używanymi do zahamowania i unikania w plonie strat spowodowanych szkodnikami, chorobami i chwastami. W uprawie czereśni stosowano różnego rodzaju pestycydy w celu zwiększenia plonu i dochodu gospodarstw w Turcji. Niniejsze badanie przeprowadzono, aby przeanalizować poziom użycia pestycydów w zachodniośródziemnomorskim rejonie Turcji. Dane zebrano z 89 gospodarstw przy zastosowaniu prostej metody losowej. Na podstawie wyników badań wnioskuje się, że średnie użycie rolniczych środków chemicznych jako aktywnego elementu w uprawie czereśni wynosi 53 349,50 g·ha-1. Udział stosowanych chemicznych środków rolniczych to odpowiednio: 79,82, 19,11 i 1,07% siarczanu miedzi, pestycydów olei zimowych i mineralnych +DNOC. Obliczono, że strata ekonomiczna spowodowana przedawkowaniem rolniczych środków chemicznych wynosiła €162,92 ha-1. Analiza testu chi-kwadrat wykazała, że istnieje istotny związek między dawkami pestycydów stosowanymi przez rolników a rozmiarem gospodarstwa, słuchaniem w radiu programów związanych z rolnictwem, potrzebą posiadania informacji na temat chorób, zwalczaniem owadów i szkodników, zastosowaniem pestycydów oraz użyciem własnego sprzętu ochronnego

Agricultural insurance is one of the possible measures to meet the risks that may occur because of the natural disasters and to ensure continuity of production in agricultural sector. This study was conducted to evaluating the results of government supported crop insurance (GSCIS) policies in terms of the apple producers and to determine characteristics of both farms participating and non-participating in government supported crop insurance system in the Isparta province of Turkey. The data used in the study was obtained from 77 apple producers by using a questionnaire. The farms were chosen by random sampling method and the data were analyzed by the chi-square test which was used to test relationship among variables. The result of the analyses showed that there is a significant difference between the farms participating and non-participating in GSCIS, considering social security status, farmer’s experience, membership of a cooperative, agricultural income level, non agricultural income status, agricultural advisory status, internet use, agricultural credit use, tractor ownership, farmers’ experience in apple production, shapes of apple orchards and varieties of apples grown. In conclusion it is suggested that effective service delivery by insurance service providers will ensure continuity of producers’ participation in agricultural insurance and also participation by producers who are yet to participate. Producers should be informed and be aware of the studies about government supported crop insurance.
Ubezpieczenie rolnicze to jeden z możliwych środków zarządzania ryzykiem, które może wystąpić z powodu katastrof naturalnych, oraz sposób zapewnienia ciągłości produkcji w sektorze rolniczym. Niniejsze badanie przeprowadzono w celu oceny wyników polityki ubezpieczeń plonów (GSCIS) z punktu widzenia producentów oraz w celu określenia cech zarówno gospodarstw uczestniczących, jak i nieuczestniczących w systemie ubezpieczeń plonów wspieranym przez rząd w prowincji Isparta w Turcji. Dane używane w badaniu uzyskano od 77 producentów jabłek za pomocą kwestionariusza. Farmy wybrano losową metodą próbek, natomiast dane przeanalizowano testem chikwadrat, który zastosowano w celu sprawdzenia relacji między zmiennymi. Wyniki analiz pokazały, że istnieje istotna różnica między gospodarstwami uczestniczącymi i nieuczestniczącymi w GSCIS jeśli chodzi o status bezpieczeństwa społecznego, doświadczenie rolnika, członkowstwo w spółdzielni, poziom dochodu rolnego, status dochodu nierolniczego, status doradztwa rolniczego, korzystanie z Internetu, korzystanie z kredytów rolniczych, posiadanie traktorów, doświadczenie rolników w produkcji jabłek, kształt sadów jabłoniowych oraz odmiany hodowanych jabłek. Wnioski sugerują, że efektywne usługi dostawców ubezpieczeń zapewnią ciągłość uczestnictwa producentów w ubezpieczeniach rolniczych, a także uczestnictwo producentów, którzy jeszcze nie są uczestnikami tych ubezpieczeń. Producenci winni posiadać informacje oraz świadomość dotyczącą badań nad wspieranymi przez rząd ubezpieczeniami plonów.

The main objective of this study was to determine the factors affecting the government supported bumble bees use as pollinators by greenhouse producers in the Mediterranean Coastal Region of Turkey. The data used in this study were collected from growers by using a face to face survey. To this end, data was obtained by using simple random sampling method in 80 greenhouse farms in Antalya province. The data were analyzed with the chi-square test which was used to test relationship between variables. The result of the analyses showed that there is a significant relationship between the farms using and non-using bumble bee, considering status registered for greenhouse of farmer, type of growing, type of greenhouse ventilation and the number of people working in greenhouse. Furthermore, the most of farmers believed that use of bumble bees as pollinators in greenhouse tomato production is beneficial. These benefits include the effect of environment and human health and also the economic (marketing, higher price, higher yield, reducing pesticide use and labor use).
Głównym celem niniejszego badania było określenie czynników wpływających na wspierane rządowo użycie trzmieli jako zapylaczy w szklarniach śródziemnomorskich rejonów Turcji. Dane zostały zebrane od rolników przy użyciu bezpośredniej ankiety, a uzyskano je za pomocą metody losowej z 80 gospodarstw ze szklarniami w prowincji Antalya. Dane przeanalizowano za pomocą testu chi kwadrat, którego użyto w celu sprawdzenia związków między zmiennymi. Z analiz wynika, że istnieje istotny związek między gospodarstwami używającymi i nieużywającymi trzmieli, wziąwszy pod uwagę status zarejestrowanego rolnika, typ uprawy, typ wentylacji w szklarni oraz liczbę osób pracujących w szklarni. Ponadto większość rolników uważa, że użycie trzmieli jako zapylaczy w szklarniowej produkcji pomidora jest korzystne. Korzyści dotyczą wpływu na środowisko, zdrowie człowieka, a także kwestii ekonomicznych (marketing, wyższa cena, większy plon, mniejsze użycie pestycydów oraz siły roboczej).

Ships have an important role in among the factors causing marine pollution. Marine pollution by ships damages sea life, which effects human health indirectly, in addition it restricts usage of sea for different purposes. Increasing comprehensive and compelling liabilities related with environmental components and subjects day by day are expected results for environmental science and engineering applications according to 60% of our responsibilities of European Union Integration development. In today’s’ world, where global warming is an issue of high priority and makes us feel its impacts in our lives, leaving a livable world to the next generations is now a primary goal for all. Determination of marine pollution caused by ship operations issue is a multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem, and requires MCDM methods to solve it. Therefore, the role of ship factor in maritime pollution and the possible reasons of this argument can be quantitatively evaluated based on expert knowledge and MCDM methodology. To investigate what makes to reduce the first “caused by ship operations " in marine pollution, the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method approach was applied in this study.

Throughout history, women have struggled to gain a place and establish their presence in social life. Mostly, they have continued their life in the position of carrying out family responsibilities. When women want to get involved in the business world, they are facing some problems arising from dogmatic thinking and prejudices, especially among the professions with "male-dominated" judiciary. Maritime profession, one of the oldest professions in the world, was also regarded as a single-gender area until the 20th century. However, in recent years, economical and political changes in the world, equal opportunity in education and incentive works of the International Maritime Organization have led women to work as seafarers. Although female seafarers constitute 2% of the world seafarers, this ratio is higher in developed countries than that of undeveloped or developing countries (URL-1). There is very little information regarding women seafarers in general, including the actual population size. Most of studies focus on passenger ships or cruise ships, not cargo ships (Sohyun, 2010). It is difficult to find relevant studies regarding women seafarers in the world, including in Turkey. In Turkey, women have played an active role and gained an apparent identity in the maritime sector since the 2000s. According to 2015 data, Turkey is ranks the 14th in the world maritime trade with more than 27,6 million deadweight tonnage and manages 1530 vessels (UNCTAD, 2015). In Turkey, many studies related to the employment of seafarers are carried out as in the whole world. However, studies on the employment of women seafarers should be paid more attention. In this study, a questionnaire was carried out with the personnel department managers in Turkish shipping companies. Employment, career, educational status of female seafarers and the general difficulties they face were revealed.

In parallel with the increase in the volume of world trade, cargo handling rates and seafarers' pace of work has increased. Although the STCW regulations and restrictions on working hours has improved, this tempo has brought with it insufficient resting hours, especially in short sea transport. It is known that individuals under stress and intensive workloads are more prone to making mistakes due to fatigue. In this study, the officers’ working hours are simulated in full-mission simulator at short sea transport to investigate errors made during the navigation and port watches. For this purpose, the data were obtained from 7 volunteers watchkeeping officers with the help of video monitoring and check lists in the full-bridge simulator system and also, system records in cargo handling simulator. With this study, introduced what types of errors made during navigation and port watches by watchkeeping officers under the intense pace of work. And the errors are evaluated under the legislation of international maritime. As a result, to comply with the limitations of working hours, it is necessary to increase the number of officers responsible for operations on short sea transport.

Maritime students spend a certain period of their training on board, depending on their qualifications. Deck officer candidates (deck cadets) must perform an open sea internship on commercial vessels for one year. Deck officers are among to member of crew with important responsibilities to cooperate with the Master during voyage including being involved in navigation and port watches as well as maintenance of the ship and its safety equipment. Deck cadets perform their practical training between academic education periods according to general practice in Turkey. They can be subjected to unusual working hours and rest periods during the mission on the ship. Considering the importance of adequate sleep for productivity, vigilance, sustaining attention and even over-all health and well-being, it is not only sleep quantity but sleep quality is critical. The aim of this study was to investigate of the effect of the long-term onboard training (aprox. 7 months) on the sleep quantity and quality of the maritime students. Data regarding sleep quantity and perceptive quality among the subjects were obtained by using Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). PSQI is a scale providing information on type and violence of sleep disorders and the quality of sleep during the past month. A total of 60 maritime students were asked to fill PSQI before and after onboard training. Demographical information such as age, gender, weight, height and information regarding the internship were also obtained. Of the students 43.3% rated as poor sleeper before the internship and this ratio increased to 73.3% after the internship. A prominent decrease in sleep quality was determined. Sleep duration did not change significantly. This study showed a significant negative effect of onboard training on sleep quality among participants and they did not recover within a month after returning from the sea which indicates potential long term consequencies.

Poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate)-co-poly(4-vinyl pyridine) and poly(HEMA)-co-poly-(4-VP) copolymers were synthesized by free radical polymerization. K₂S₂O₈ was used as an initiator. Chain lengths of the copolymer was changed by varying the monomer/initiator ratio. These polymers have molarites of 2.6 and 2.1 respectively and are called COP2 and COP4. The samples were exposed to gamma rays at room temperature. After irradiation, the EPR spectra of COP2 and COP4 were recorded between 120 K and 450 K. From the temperature dependence of the line intensity, it was concluded that unpaired spin concentration in the irradiated samples has been changing with temperature. A theoretical study, presented in this report, was aimed to test success of the machine learning methods and to select the best learning method.

The Metropolitan Municipality of Izmir (Turkey) designated a steeply inclined area for the construction of buildings to house the participants of the Izmir University Olympic Games. Before the construction activities could start, engineering geological and geotechnical investigations had to be carried out in order to establish which zones in the area were suitable for safe constructions. Seismic studies, borings and laboratory tests yielded the data, which were used for preparing five hazard maps in a GIS environment. The construction activities based on the results of this complex investigation appeared successful. The engineering geological investigations included geotechnical measurements on core samples obtained from the boreholes (core drilling) and laboratory testing. The rock-quality designation (RQD%) values of the rock units were determined and used in the rock-mass classification (rock-mass rating method) as an in-put parameter and in the calculation of the bearing capacity of the various rock units. Geophysical surveys were carried out to determine the seismic velocity of the rocks at the site. A short overview is provided of the main problems that had to be dealt with, and of the successive steps taken to solve the engineering-geological problems. Determination of these problems is necessary for adequate land-use planning and construction activities.

In this study, both the morphological maturation and germination ability of the Oriental beechnut were investigated two months prior to seed dispersal to find out the appropriate period of ripened beechnut collection. Beechnuts were collected in the seed stand, Dokurcun-Adapazari, on August 21, September 9, and September 25 on trees, and on October 16, 2003, from the ground after the major seed fall. Germination percentages were 18.0%, 80.5%, 92.0%, and 94.7% on August 21, September 9, September 25, and October 16, respectively. Similarly, both beechnut weight and the embryo:beechnut weight ratio significantly increased with time and reached an approximate maximum level at September 25, 2–3 weeks prior to seed dispersal. This outcome indicates that ripened beechnuts can be collected from the trees, 15–20 days prior to major seed dispersal. The study also indicates that ripened Oriental beechnuts have physiological dormancy and need about 8–10 weeks chilling at 3°C for germination.

The static criterion that the amplitude of the principal peak of the liquid structure factor has a constant value along the freezing line and the onset of freezing are studied from the structure factors and the static dielectric functions of halide salts interacting via the effective pair potentials through the hypernetted-chain approximation. It is observed that the criterion above is restricted to the effective charge difference. The critical value of plasma parameter at freezing is affected by the mobility and number concentration of anions and cations. The distribution of the value of the static dielectric function closest to the wave number axis in the negative region is also determined by the charge difference and the ordering of ions and related to the onset of freezing.

Freezing-thawing processes hapenning in seasonally cold climate cause deformation of soil in time of freezing and strength loss while thawing. Problems of ground frost heave and soil softening belong to the important factors, that could cause serious damage and financial loss. Bayburt tuff and tuffites known as Bayburt Stone mines, located around Bayburt, play important role on economy of the Bayburt city. As a result of researches in 2005 total of 2 535 700 tons proved reserve were determined several places in Bayburt. The goal of this study is proving, that deposits of Green Bayburt Stone wastes, created in the stone quarries during the stone processing, can be used as a stabilizing material. By recycling the waste material rejected stone was mixed with lime and used as a soil stabilizator against freezing-thawing effect. Prepared natural and stabilized soil samples were subjected to freezing-thawing cycles after curing for 28 days. After the freezing-thawing cycles, compressive strength of the samples was measured to investigate the influence of the additives on the freezing-thawing properties of soil samples. As a result of this study, it was determined that samples stabilized with Green Bayburt Stone mixtures have high freezing-thawing durability as compared to unstabilized samples. As a consequence, it was seen that those mixtures can be successfully used as an additive material to enhance the freezing-thawing effects of cohessive soils.

Mountain almond (Amygdalus arabica) is a shrub with naturally distributing in Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. A. arabica also known as bitter almond and can reach up to 2.5 m. The natural distribution of mountain almond is generally in the Southeast Region of Turkey. The present study carried out to determine the morphological and physiological characteristics of the seed of mountain almond. The seeds were collected from three different populations of A. arabica in Adıyaman. For different each populations seed weight, height, width, thickness, and 1000-seed weight were measured in the laboratory. Morphological characteristics of A. arabica seeds varied according to their populations. Seed germination tests were conducted at 20 °C, after prechilling for 0, 3, 6, and 9 weeks at 4 °C. Prechilling treatments of 3 weeks were insufficient, but 6 and 9 weeks of prechilling were found to eliminate seed dormancy and led to the highest germination percentage. The average germination percentage after 0, 3, 6, and 9 weeks of prechilling were 3.1%, 49.6%, 80.4%, and 81.1%, respectively. The average mean germination time was approximately between 8 and 10 days.

X-ray spectrometry is an elemental analysis technique with broad application in science and industry. It is based on the principle that individual atoms, when excited by an external energy source emit X-ray photons of a characteristic energy or wavelength. Here we obtained the characteristic X-ray peaks of different brass compounds and compared the intensity of characteristic peaks by changing with Zn rate. In this study we modelled different brass samples by using Monte Carlo method and changed the zinc rate in brass samples for each compound. We obtained the characteristic X-ray peaks of different compounds and compared the intensity of characteristic peaks by changing with Zn rate. We achieved a good agreement between peak intensity and corresponding element rate in compound. Also we obtained that characteristic peak rate increases by corresponding element rate in compound. This study shows that Monte Carlo method is very effective method to simulate material features due to their characteristic peaks and their intensities.

Growth kinetics of boride layers in AISI H13 steel was investigated using the pack boriding method at temperatures of 1073, 1173 and 1273 K (800°C, 900°C and 1000°C) for periods of 2, 4 and 6 h with nano-sized boron (NB) and micron-sized Ekabor II powders as boriding agents. The total thickness of the boride layer (including both FeB and Fe2B) after boriding at 1273 K (1000°C) for 6 h was 103.8 μm and 96.5 μm for the NB and Ekabor II specimens, respectively. X-ray diffraction analysis of the boride layers on the surfaces borided with NB and Ekabor II revealed the presence of FeB and Fe2B phases with sawtooth morphology. The FeB/Fe2B volume ratio was higher in the specimens borided with NB. The thickness of the boride layer (FeB + Fe2B) increased with the increasing boriding temperature and time. The FeB layer in the NB specimen displayed a (002) preferred orientation.

In this study, an artificial neural network application was performed to tell if 18 plates of the same material in different shapes and sizes were cracked or not. The cracks in the cracked plates were of different depth and sizes and were non-identical deformations. This ANN model was developed to detect whether the plates under test are cracked or not, when four plates have been selected randomly from among a total of 18 ones. The ANN model used in the study is a model uniquely tailored for this study, but it can be applied to all systems by changing the weight values and without changing the architecture of the model. The developed model was tested using experimental data conducted with 18 plates and the results obtained mainly correspond to this particular case. But the algorithm can be easily generalized for an arbitrary number of items.

In the present work, Cu and Ni nanofluids were synthesized using the pulsed wire evaporation (PWE) method in the different aqueous medias, namely (ethanol and ethylene glycol), and the effects of the aqueous media on the dispersion state, stability, and particle size of nanoparticles were studied. The size and morphology of synthesized nano-particles were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Also, the dispersion stability of the nanofluids was evaluated by turbiscan analysis. The TEM results showed that the nano-particles were spherical in shape, and the average particle size was below 100 nm. The average particle size of the Cu nano-particles was smaller than that of Ni, which was attributed to a difference in the specific sublimation energy of the elements. Moreover, ethylene glycol (EG) exhibited higher suspension stability than ethanol. Finally, the dispersion stability of Cu@EG displayed the highest value due to lower particle size and greater viscosity.

In this study, the possibility of enhancing heat insulation performance of hollow bricks by filling the cavities with perlite is investigated. A conjugate heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation in different hollow bricks are analyzed numerically to assess their thermal performance. Calculations are performed for three scenarios for each type of hollow brick: (i) cavities are filled with air, (ii) half of the cavities are filled with perlite while the other half is filled with air, (iii) all cavities are filled with perlite. The benefit of filling cavities with perlite is justified quantitatively for each investigated hollow brick type. It is concluded that the enhancement in insulation performance can be up to 15.6% and 27.5% for half-perlite and full-perlite cases, respectively, depending on the brick type.

Bremsstrahlung has an important place in the field of experimental physics, especially for description of photon-matter interaction and for characterization and analysis of materials. Bremsstrahlung photon is created by a high-energy electron, deflected in the electric field of atomic nucleus. Bremsstrahlung is also important for experimental studies, not only in the field of nuclear physics and particle physics but also in the fields of solid state physics, applied physics and astrophysics. In recent years, Monte Carlo simulation has become a widely used method for calculations related to bremsstrahlung. On the other hand, predictions by using artificial neural network can be performed with high accuracy. This study aims at observing variation in the photon flux as unction of target thickness and at processing output data by using an artificial neural network. We achieved a high degree of compatibility between two different methods. This study suggests that artificial neural network is a powerful tool for prediction of Bremsstrahlung and for other scientific problems.

Today, several fruit species are used for different purposes in alternative medicine. Among those species, barberry species are commonly used in treatment of various diseases. Jeti-Oguz District of Issyk Kul located around Issyk Lake in North-east of Kyrgyzstan has a unique flora and wild Berberis sphaerocarpa Kar. et Kit. (spherical-fruited barberry) species have a great place in regional flora. The fruits, leaves and roots of these species are commonly used by local people as functional products in alternative medicine. The most significant parameter in this wild population is the morphological variation in fruits and leaves. In this study, pomological analyses were performed on ripened black fruits of 26 wild genotypes. Pomological analyses yielded the fruit weights as between 0.23 g (01-JO-006) and 0.61 g (01-JO-025); total soluble solids as between 16.67% (01-JO-014) and 18.73% (01-JO-010 and 01-JO-018). Fruit shapes of genotypes were identified as long, long-spherical, spherical and oblate spherical. Significant variations were observed in morphological characteristics of spherical-fruited barberry genotypes through pomological analyses and field observations.

The $K_{β} // K_{α}$ X-ray intensity ratios of Co, Ni, Cu and Zn in metalophthalocyanines complexes have been studied. Co, Ni, Cu and Zn elements have been excited by using 59.5 keV photons emitted by 50 mCi $\text{}^{241}Am$ radioactive source. K X-rays emitted by samples have been counted by a Si(Li) detector with resolution 0.16 keV at 5.9 keV. We have found that $K_{β} // K_{α}$ X-ray intensity ratios of Co, Ni, Zn, and Cu complexes have changed depending on chemical structures of Co, Ni, Zn and Cu. The measured values have been compared with the theoretical predictions and experimental values of pure elements.

Pressure injuries are a serious medical problem that both negatively affects the patient's quality of life and results in significant healthcare costs. In cases where a patient doesn’t receive appropriate treatment and care, death may result. Nurses play critical roles in the prevention, care, and treatment of pressure injuries as members of the healthcare team who closely monitor the health status of the patient. Today, the use of artificial intelligence is becoming more prevalent in healthcare, as in many other areas. Artificial intelligence is a method that aims to solve complex problems by using computers to mathematically simulate the way the brain works. In this article, we compile and share information about a deep learning model developed for the detection and classification of pressure injuries. Deep learning can operate on many types of data. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) prefer images because they can handle 2D arrays. In this case, the images, annotated according to the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel pressure injury classification system, have been fed into a deep learning model using CNN. The developed CNN model has a 97% success in detecting and classifying pressure injuries, and as more images are collected and fed into the CNN, the prediction accuracy will increase. This deep learning model allows for the automatic detection and classification of pressure injuries, an indicator of health outcomes, at an early stage and for quick and accurate intervention. In this context, it is expected that the quality of nursing care will increase, the prevalence of pressure injury will decrease, and the economic burden of this health problem will decrease.
Odleżyny są problemem zdrowotnym, który negatywnie wpływa na jakość życia pacjenta i powoduje poważne koszty opieki. W przypadku braku odpowiedniego leczenia i opieki może to doprowadzić do śmierci pacjenta. Pielęgniarki odgrywają kluczową rolę w zapobieganiu, opiece i leczeniu odleżyn jako członkowie zespołu opieki zdrowotnej, którzy ściśle i stale monitorują stan zdrowia danej osoby. Obecnie w dziedzinie zdrowia, podobnie jak w wielu innych dziedzinach, coraz częściej wykorzystuje się sztuczną inteligencję. Sztuczna inteligencja jest metodą, która ma na celu rozwiązywanie złożonych problemów poprzez matematyczne symulowanie sposobu działania mózgu z wykorzystaniem komputerów. Niniejszy artykuł jest przeglądem zaprojektowanym w celu podzielenia się informacjami na temat modelu deep learning opracowanego do wykrywania i klasyfikacji odleżyn. Deep learning może działać na wielu typach danych. Konwolucyjne sieci neuronowe (ang. convolutional neural networks, CNN) preferują obrazy, ponieważ mogą obsługiwać macierze 2D. Obrazy, uporządkowane zgodnie z systemem klasyfikacji odleżyn według National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP), zostały przekształcone w "Deep Learning Model" z wykorzystaniem CNN. Opracowywany model CNN ma 97% skuteczności w wykrywaniu i klasyfikowaniu odleżyn, a im więcej obrazów zostanie zebranych i wykorzystanych w CNN, tym większe będzie prawdopodobieństwo trafnej prognozy. Ten model deep learning daje możliwość automatycznego wykrywania i klasyfikacji odleżyn, które są wskaźnikiem jakości zdrowia, na wczesnym etapie oraz dokładnej i szybkiej interwencji. W tym kontekście oczekuje się, że jakość opieki pielęgniarskiej wzrośnie, zmniejszy się częstość występowania odleżyn oraz obciążenie ekonomiczne związane z tym problemem zdrowotnym.

Glocalization is a holistic approach that balances global and local dimensions. As it affects organizations, glocal leadership has started to be discussed. The aim of this study is to reveal the perceptions of managers of private institutions about fulfilling glocal leadership behaviors, and investigate if there is a meaningful difference in terms of gender, age, seniority, and education level variables. This study is designed to be descriptive research using the Multidimensional Glocal Leadership Scale developed by Ercetin et. al (2011) to collect the data. The population of the research is a self-existing sample of 378 managers who work in private institutions. According to the findings, managers perceive they are fulfilling the glocal leadership behavior and its dimensions at middle level. There are some differences found for gender, age, seniority and education level variables.
Glokalizacja jest holistycznym podejściem, które równoważy wymiary globalne i lokalne. Ponieważ dotyka organizacji, zaczęto dyskutować o glokalnym przywództwie. Celem tego badania jest ujawnienie poglądów menedżerów prywatnych instytucji na temat glokalnych zachowań przywódczych i zbadanie, czy istnieje istotna różnica pod względem płci, wieku, stażu pracy i poziomu wykształcenia. Badanie to ma charakter opisowy i wykorzystuje Wielowymiarową Skalę Przywództwa Glokalnego opracowaną przez Ercetina (2011). Populacja badania jest samodzielną próbą 378 menedżerów pracujących w instytucjach prywatnych. Zgodnie z ustaleniami, menedżerowie dostrzegają, że realizują glokalne zachowanie przywódcze i jego wymiary na poziomie średnim. Istnieją pewne różnice dotyczące zmiennych pod względem płci, wieku, stażu pracy i poziomu wykształcenia.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of electroacupuncture in acute and chronic phases of radial and ulnar nerve injuries in histopathological, immunohistochemical and biochemical aspects. In the study, the rabbits were divided into four groups namely acute nerve injury (ANI) group, chronic nerve injury (CNI) group, positive control (PC) group and negative control (NC) group. In the ANI, CNI and PC groups, damage was created on the nervus radialis and nervus ulnaris by applying pressure for 60 seconds using a hemostatic forceps under anesthesia. No damage was created in the NC group. Fifteen sessions of electroacupuncture were applied to the rabbits in the ANI, CNI, and NC groups every other day using LI-4 (Large Intestine Meridian-4, He Gu), LI-10 (Large Intestine Meridian-10, Shou San Li), LR-3 (Liver Meridian-3, Tai Chong), and ST-36 (Stomach Meridian-36, Zusanli) electroacupuncture points. Electroacupuncture was not applied to the rabbits in the PC group. Decapitation was performed under general anesthesia at the end of electroacupuncture applications. After the euthanasia procedure, the samples obtained were evaluated for histopathological, immunohistochemical and biochemical parameters. In conclusion, degenerative foci in the treatment groups were found to be fewer than in the PC group whereas NGF and S-100 immunoreactivity were higher in the treatment groups than in the PC group. Whereas no statistically significant difference was observed between the treatment groups and the NC group in terms of oxidative stress factors, there was a statistically significant difference between the treatment groups and the PC group. In light of all these data, we have concluded that electroacupuncture is an effective treatment method for peripheral nerve injuries.

The upper Campanian (Cretaceous) of the Hacımehmet area (south of the city of Trabzon; Eastern Pontides) is mainly composed of calciclastic turbidites. The basinal unit of the 119 m thick succession includes thin red pelagic limestone interlayers and conglomerates dominated by volcanic clasts. The overlying upper slope and lower slope units of the sequence consist of an alternation of allochthonous calcarenite/calcirudite beds and pelagic marls and mudstones. Calcarenite/calcirudite beds dominate the upper slope unit of the succession and are composed of transported material, including benthic foraminifers, red algae, bryozoan, crinoid and rudist fragments, inoceramid bivalve prisms and neritic and pelagic carbonate lithoclasts. The occurrence of Helicorbitoides boluensis (Sirel) extracted from the calcarenite/calcirudite beds indicates a Campanian age. Identifiable rudists such as Joufia reticulata Boehm, Bournonia cf. anatolica Özer, Biradiolites cf. bulgaricus Pamouktchiev and ?Biradiolites sp. from the upper slope unit of the succession indicate a late Campanian–Maastrichtian age. The planktonic foraminifers within the red pelagic limestone beds, marls and mudstones throughout the succession consist mainly of Campanian–Maastrichtian forms and suggest mainly basinal depositional conditions. The presence of Radotruncana cf. calcarata (Cushman) accompanied by Globotruncanita elevata (Brotzen) in the basinal unit of the succession indicates an early late Campanian age for the lower part of the succession. Inoceramid bivalves have been collected from the upper part of the succession. The fauna is dominated by ‘Inoceramus’ tenuilineatus Hall and Meek, 1854 and Cataceramus haldemensis (Giers, 1964); other taxa recognised are: ‘Inoceramus’ algeriensis Heinz, 1932, Platyceramus vanuxemi (Meek and Hayden, 1860), ‘Inoceramus’ cf. nebrascensis Owen, 1852, Cataceramus aff. barabini (Morton, 1834), Cataceramus gandjaensis (Aliev, 1956), and ‘Inoceramus’ sp.; the assemblage indicates the ‘Inoceramus’ tenuilineatus Zone; corresponding to the middle–late Campanian boundary interval. The uppermost part of the succession is characterized by the presence of the trace fossils Scolicia strozzii and Scolicia isp., indicating a mixed Skolithos-Cruziana ichnofacies. This ichnofacies suggests a well-oxygenated environment.

Iodine is an essential element for the production of thyroid hormones. In recent years, it has been suggested that excessive consumption of iodine may play a role in the pathogenesis of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). In addition, studies have suggested that high iodine consumption is an important risk factor for the formation of a BRAF mutation in the thyroid gland. A prospectively designed study included 132 cases scheduled for thyroidectomy for various reasons. Urine iodine levels of all patients were examined before the operation. The iodine excretion levels of the patients were grouped according to the median urinary iodine concentration determined in community screenings (those with <100 µg L-1 low iodine excretion, those with 100-199 µg L-1 normal iodine excretion, those with 200-299 µg L-1 high iodine excretion). Patients were divided into 3 groups according to the post-operative pathology results. As a result of thyroid histopathology, benign (n: 44), PTC (n: 88) (BRAF (+): 44 and BRAF (-): 44) cases were included in the study. BRAF mutations in patients diagnosed with PTC were evaluated using the “Real Time PCR Melting Curve Analyzer” method. The relationship between urinary iodine excretion levels and clinical, histopathological and BRAF positivity was examined. In our study, no difference was found in urinary iodine excretion between patients with and without PTC. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis was observed more frequently in patients with PTC (p=0.023). In addition, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis was statistically more frequently detected in the BRAF (-) group compared to the BRAF (+) and control group (p=0.034). Despite studies suggesting that high iodine consumption is important in PTC pathogenesis, we did not find a relationship between the mutation and iodine consumption, which plays an important role in the development of PTC.

In this study, we report on the optimization and characterization of chloroform soluble calix[4]arene derivative as a humidity sensor based on electrical properties. Due to the fact that calix[4]arene molecules are nonconductive, we modified the calix[4]arene molecules with carbon nanotubes with electrostatic bond in order to increase the conductance of calix[4]arene molecule (5,11,17,23-tetra-ter-butyl-25,27-dehydrazinamidcarbonilmetoxy-26,28-dehydroxy-kalix[4]aren). Using photolithography technique, we fabricated interdigitated gold electrodes with 3 micrometers separation to investigate the electrical properties of carbon nanotubes modified calix[4]arene molecule where we used dropcast method to form a thin film of carbon nanotubes modified calix[4]arene molecule on the gold electrodes. Our reproducible experimental results indicated that the chloroform soluble carbon nanotubes modified calix[4]arene films have great potential for humidity sensing applications at room temperature operations.

This study focuses on the characterization and optimization of calixarene modified carbon nanotube thin films for gas detection. Calixarene molecules were synthesized individually by considering their functional groups to attract the gas. Calixarene modified carbon nanotube based sensors were fabricated using drop-casting method on a quartz crystal microbalance gold electrode. Carbon monoxide, carbondioxide, oxygen and dry air were used as active gases for adsorption process, while high-purity nitrogen gas was used for desorption process. The selectivity and sensitivity of calixarene modified carbon nanotube are investigated in detail. Our experimental results show that functional calixarene modified carbon nanotube coated quartz crystal microbalance sensors are very sensitive and selective to gas of $CO_2$ at room temperature operation.

The comparative advantage and intra-industry trade of five countries: Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Turkey, are analyzed in the global textile and clothing markets by employing Balassa’s revealed comparative advantage (RCA) index and intraindustry trade (IIT) index for the period 2002-2013. The results have revealed that while Turkey is the only one among the countries selected to have comparative advantage in the global textile market, Romania joins Turkey in this in the world’s clothing market. The comparative advantage of these two countries in the global clothing market presents a stronger declining trend compared to that in textiles, which is probably due to the entrance of cheap-labour eastern Asian countries into the global clothing market, as this market is more labor-intensive compared to textiles. Moreover, while a high intra-industry trade index is found in Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland, an inter-industry trade structure is observed in Romania for textiles and clothing. Turkey presents intra-industry specialisation in textiles, while possessing inter-industry trade structure in terms of clothing.
Analizowano przewagę konkurencyjną i handel wewnątrzgałęziowy pięciu krajów: Czech, Węgier, Polski, Rumunii i Turcji biorąc pod uwagę globalny rynek włókiennictwa i odzieżownictwa przy wykorzystaniu indeksu Balassy i indeksu handlu wewnątrzgałęziowego. Brano pod uwagę okres lat: 2002 - 2013. Wyniki wykazały, że podczas gdy Turcja jest jedynym spośród wybranych krajów, który ma przewagę konkurencyjną na globalnym rynku tekstyliów to na globalnym rynku odzieżownictwa pozycję taką posiada Turcja i Rumunia. Przewaga konkurencyjna tych dwóch krajów na globalnym rynku odzieżownictwa przedstawia silniejszy trend zniżkowy porównując do trendów w dziedzinie tekstyliów. Dzieje się tak prawdopodobnie w wyniku wejścia na rynek globalny tekstyliów wschodnioazjatyckich krajów o niskich płacach ponieważ produkcja odzieży wymaga większego nakładu pracy niż produkcja tekstyliów. Podczas gdy wysoki indeks handlu wewnątrzgałęziowego cechują Czechy, Węgry i Polska, Turcja przedstawia wewnątrzgałęziową specjalizację w dziedzinie włókiennictwa oraz międzygałęziową strukturę handlu w odzieżownictwie.

In this study, the comparative advantage of four countries in the world: Bangladesh, China, Germany and Turkey is analysed with respect to the US and the EU-15 textiles and cloth-ing markets by employing Balassa’s revealed comparative advantage (RCA) index for the period 2000-2010. This country selection was made because all these countries rank in the top ten textile and clothing exporters in the world and they represent economies from four different income levels. The results have revealed that Bangladesh, China and Turkey have a strong comparative advantage in both the textile and clothing markets of the world, the US and the EU-15, while Germany has no significant comparative advantage in any of these markets. The findings show that the Bangladesh clothing industry has a substantially higher comparative advantage in all three markets compared to the other countries. It has also been found that Turkish textiles show the strongest comparative advantage in all three markets, whereas the comparative advantage of Chinese textiles indicates a slightly increasing trend in all aforementioned markets.
W pracy przeanalizowano przewagę komparatywną czterech krajów na tekstylno-odzieżowych rynkach światowych, Stanów Zjednoczonych oraz EU-15, stosując wskaźnik przewagi komparatywnej typu Balassy (RCA) dla okresu 2000–2010. Wybrane kraje znajdują się w rankingu dziesięciu największych eksporterów wyrobów włókienniczych i odzieżowych na świecie i równocześnie reprezentują kraje o czterech różnych poziomach dochodu. Wykazano, że Bangladesz, Chiny i Turcja maja silną przewagę komparatywną na tekstylnych i odzieżowych rynkach światowych, Stanów Zjednoczonych i EU-15, Niemcy natomiast nie wykazują znaczącej przewagi komparatywnej na żadnym z wymienionych rynków. Wykazano również, że przemysł odzieżowy Bangladeszu ma znacznie wyższą przewagę komparatywną na wszystkich trzech rynkach w porównaniu z pozostałymi krajami. Przemysł tekstylny Turcji również wykazuje najsilniejszą przewagę komparatywną na wszystkich trzech rynkach, podczas gdy przewaga komparatywna przemysły tekstylnego Chin wykazuje nieznaczną tendencję wzrostową.

Biodegradable and sustainable products are being employed to make contributions to efforts concerning environmental protection and the reduction of oil consumption. Biodegradable fibres present a simple and notable opportunity for providing sustainable textiles. Soybean fibre is a kind of regenerated and new-generation protein plant fibre. The present work aimed to analyse the many different properties of soybean fibres. Particularly it was focused on their performance, functional, comfort and dyeing properties. In literature, there are studies regarding soybean fibres but topics mostly involved the analysis of comfort properties of the fibre. In this study, fibre structure and composition, flame and UV resistance, strength, pilling behaviour, air and water vapour permeability, water absorption, drape and dyeing properties were studied. It was indicated that soybean fibre is capable of meeting the performance, comfort and functional requirements of classical and technical textile products. The fibre has many of the good qualities of natural fibres such as tenacity, moisture regain, soft-lustrous handle, dyeability and colour fastness properties, and also has some of the functional properties of synthetic fibres such as being flame retardant and anti-ultraviolet.
Produkty biodegradowalne i odnawialne są coraz powszechniej stosowane dla ochrony środowiska naturalnego i redukcji zużycia paliw. Takim problemem są włókna naturalne w tym sojowe, będące przykładem nowej generacji włókien proteinowych. W pracy przedstawiono analizę rożnych właściwości, w szczególności ich zastosowania, funkcjonalności komfortu użytkowania i wybarwialności. W literaturze znajduje się wiele publikacji związanych z komfortem produktów z włókien sojowych, natomiast w przedstawionych badaniach zwrócono uwagę na ich strukturę i skład a, także ich palność, odporność na promieniowanie UV, wytrzymałość, piling, przepuszczalność powietrza i pary wodnej, absorpcje wody, układalność i wybarwialność. Stwierdzono, że włókna sojowe mają wiele ważnych pozytywnych właściwości charakterystycznych dla innych włókien naturalnych.

In this paper, Turkey's comparative advantage and competitiveness in the textile and clothing industries are analysed by using Balassa's revealed comparative advantage index and Vollrath's indices of competitive advantage for the period of 1988-2008 in the enlarged EU market. The results revealed that Turkey has overall a strong comparative advantage and competitiveness in textile and clothing in the EU market. All competitiveness indices for the years 2005-2008 showed an increasing trend for the textile industry and a decreasing trend for clothing. The decrease in the competitiveness of clothing was observed more intensively in the enlarged EU market compared to that of the EU12. These findings can be thus interpreted: the Turkish textile industry responded well to the elimination of quotas, while the clothing sector has been more vulnerable to the inclusion of low-cost labour countries in the market since 2005.
Artykuł przedstawia analizę przewagi komparatywnej i konkurencyjności tureckiego przemysłu tekstylnego i odzieżowego przeprowadzoną w oparciu o indeksy Balassy i Vollrath'a za okres 1988 - 2008. Wykazano, że pozycja Turcji była zdecydowanie korzystna. W okresie 2005 - 2008 stwierdzono wzrost współczynników dla przemysłu tekstylnego, natomiast spadek dla przemysłu odzieżowego. Spadek konkurencyjności był intensywniejszy dla powiększonego rynku EU w porównaniu do EU 12. Pozycja tureckiego przemysłu tekstylnego była bardziej stabilna, podczas gdy przemysł odzieżowy okazał się bardziej podatny na przyłączenie nowych członków UE.
