    Opis:
    The author of the article is pastor of a Polish parish in Canada. He presents its religious and social role after the World War II. Apart form purely religious aims, the parish acomplishes many other social tasks. Namely, the Polish language and culture is taught there. Besides, many Polish associations, folk dance groups and choirs work in the garish. Special material help for Poland and the Catholic University of Lublin is provided there. Moreover, the Windsor parish has a special fund for all social activities and the parish buildings. The author mentions, the importance of the religious and social help of the Polish sisters as well as the cooperation with the Canadian Church and Government institutions.

    Opis:
    The present study consist of the author's report on his pastoral and social work in different countries and Polish communities in the course of 43 years. He worked in the following countries: Germany (British dominion in the years 1945-51), the USA (1951-57) and Canada (1957-1987). The author characterizes the environment in which he worked, their spiritual needs, social life and threats connected with migration. The main territory of his work was the Polish parish in Windsor in Canada (1961-87). The author points to the religious-social role both of the pastor, and the parish. An interesting example of that role and of some possibilities in that respect is the fact that they managed in the course of dozen milion dolars to build two housing estates for Polish parishioners (1979-85) and a big Polish centre − Polonia Centre (1984), which have many sided possibilities. The Polish parish in Windsor created a few numbering 10-20 thousand dollars foundations at the local university for the youth, a charitable foundation and two scholar ship foundations for KUL. The author emphasizes the permanent character of social centres and the important social role played by the Polish Ursulin Sisters in that parish.

    The present article is an attempt at illustrating the relations of the emigration priest with his home country in the span of over 60 years. Rev. Warzyniec Wnuk, a non-compromising priest and indeed a heroic organizer of Polish emigration circles, when he was freed from a concentration camp he first worked in Germany, and then in the USA and Canada. After establishing his legal-ecclesiastic status, in order to revive the social life of the Polish emigrants, brought Ursuline Sisters of the Agonizing Heart of Jesus to Windsor (Ontario, Canada). Along with them he organized yearly trips to Poland, where he met several friendly bishops, supporting financially their investment projects; he also supported Polish cultural-academic institutions (including the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, the Mikołaj Kopernik University of Toruń and specialist clinics) and he established funds and stipends for Polish students and scholars; and after marshal law was imposed on Poland he established a special Fund for Aid to Poland. He also organized two official visits by Canadian bishops in Poland – Bishop Emmett Carter, the Chairman of the Episcopate of Canada in 1977, and Bishop John M. Sherlock, the Ordinary of the London Diocese in 1998. Rev. W. Wnuk spent most of his life in Canada, but still he was interested in Poland all the time; he felt Poland, thought and acted like a Pole and did it for Poland.
