Opis:
In the present work, we will highlight the solar observation during 15th April 2012, solar filament eruption which is accompanied by an intense and gradual Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) The explosion of CMEs was observed at 2:12:06 UT and also can be observed by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) with an Active Region AR1458 is crackling with C-class solar flares. The solar flare class B3 and C2 were observed beginning 2241 UT and 0142 UT. The event is considered as second largest CMEs been detected since five years. Although the solar activity within a few days is considered quite low and there are no proton events were observed at geosynchronous orbit., the is still an unexpected explosion of CMEs can be occurred. The radio flux number (10.7 cm) exceeds 102 with the number of sunspot and area of sunspot increased to 77 and 270. The velocity of CMEs was calculated based on the LASCO2 data. From the results, it is clearly seen that the range of the velocity is between 200 kms-1 to 2000 kms-1. This wide of range proved that the mechanism of the CMEs is a gradual process. The explosion of CMEs velocity is located from 80º - 255º from North of the Sun. We can then conclude that currently, the rearrangement of the magnetic field, and solar flares may result in the formation of a shock that accelerates particles ahead of the CMEs loop and an active region play an important character in this event.

Opis:
Recently, market-oriented grid resource management has been proposed to cope with the scarceness of grid resources in grid systems. In the market-oriented environment, grid users should pay resource owners a sum of money for resources consumed. However, the contribution of resources owners is not only offering resources for grid applications, but also for the loss of local task execution for the sake of grid task complement punctually. There is little research to address the problem of compensation for opportunities lose of local task in grid resources. As a result, resource owners may be reluctant to join the grid unless some compensation is paid. In this paper, based on the analysis of the expected income of two priority strategies in grid resources, the minimal compensation which grid users should pay to resources owners is determined using the concept of opportunity cost and a variable price model is presented to ensure a fair market environment. To calculate minimal compensation, an evaluation approach based on Monte Carlo simulation is given and the minimal compensation can be determined according to the characteristics of the grid resource and the deadline of the grid task. Based on the simulation results, the infl uence factors of minimal compensation are studied using a numerical example. The proposed price model can provide an incentive for resource owners and attract more and more resources in the Internet to participate in the grid.
Obliczeń dokonano w oparciu o analizę oczekiwanego dochodu w odniesieniu do dwóch strategii szeregowania zadań w zasobach gridowych oraz wykorzystując pojęcie kosztu alternatywnego (opportunity cost).

Opis:
Biofilters are a potential treatment option for removing pollutants from feedlot runoff but little research has been done on their use and design. In this study, two mechanism -based models were developed to simulate biofilter processes: a first-order model and a logistic model. The two models were calibrated and evaluated using nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) data collected from rainfall events for an experimental biofilter at Melrose, Minnesota, USA. The first-order model predicted removal efficiencies better than the logistic model. The sensitivity analysis suggested that the predictions of the first-order model are more sensitive to parameter. In addition, the uncertainty analysis suggested that the range in predictive errors could be a consequence of uncertainty of estimating parameter from the limited data set for the first-order model. In contrast, the uncertainty analysis for the logistic model of N suggested that reasons other than the uncertainty in parameter estimation are needed to explain predictive errors. Overall, the study provides a useful tool for assessing biofilter performance that can easily be improved with larger observed data sets. The biofilter model has been implemented in the most recent version of the Minnesota feedlot annualized runoff model (MinnFARM).

Opis:
In the Paleozoic, one large ocean once separated the Eurasia of the north and the Gondwana of the south, but it has two names, Paleo-Tethys and Rheic, suggesting different tectonic history. The Paleo-Tethys represent the ocean from east Asia to Middle East regions and vanished in Early Mesozoic, while the Rheic existed across the Europe and finally closed in Carboniferous. The two oceans coevolved for a long time, but the interaction and mutual effect at subduction and collision stages are not well understood. Initiation processes of ocean spreading, subduction and collision are crucial in plate tectonics, so resolving the timing for these turning points may greatly enhanced the precision and accuracy of reconstruction of the two oceans, especially for the western Paleo-Tethys. In NE Iran, we find that all the Paleozoic clastic rocks record two major zircon U-Pb age groups peaked at ~800 Ma and ~600 Ma. Consistency in age patterns show a dominant provenance from Neoproterozoic basement of the north Gondwana and a long-lasting passive margin sedimentation after the spreading of the Paleo-Tethys. This environment was interrupted by initial collision between the Turan (Eurasia) and Central Iran (Gondwana) Blocks with massive coarse clastic deposition, i.e. the protolith of the Mashhad Phyllite, in a peripheral foreland basin on the Paleozoic passive margin. The Mashhad Phyllite yields a striking provenance change from passive margin to active margin. The Paleozoic ages reveal a long-lived subduction zone at the south Turan Block initiated since the latest Ordovician. More importantly, the provenance shift better constrains the initial collision timing with the maximum deposition age of the Mashhad Phyllite (~228 Ma) refining the evolution history of Paleo-Tethys. Based on our new results and previous data, we compare the tectonic history of the Paleo-Tethys in its western segment with eastern Rheic, and further discuss the interaction between the Rheic and Paleo-Tethys. We find existence of a lateral subduction zone plays a crucial rule in initiating new subduction zone after an old oceanic plate vanishes and two continents collides, while a lateral collision can also result into shallowing of subducted slab and preservation of coeval compressional structures. These new insights help us to better interpret the emplacement of high-pressure metamorphic rocks during subduction and subduction zone jump when the Rheic and Paleo-Tethys coevolved.

Opis:
Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase belongs to the subfamily of short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR), and 11-β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase catalyzes the interconversion of inactive glucocorticoids (cortisone in human, dehydrocorticosterone in rodents) and active glucocorticoids (cortisol in human, corticosterone in rodents). We report here the cloning and characterization of a novel human SDR gene SCDR10B which encodes a protein with similarity to 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 1. SCDR10B was isolated from a human brain cDNA library, and was mapped to chromosome 19p13.3 by browsing the UCSC genomic database. It contains an ORF with a length of 858 bp, encoding a protein with a transmembrane helix and SDR domain. Its molecular mass and isoelectric point are predicted to be 30.8 kDa and 10.3 kDa, respectively. SCDR10B protein is highly conserved in mammals and fish. Phylogenetic tree analysis indicated that SCDR10B stands for a new subgroup in the 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase family. Northern blot analysis showed that SCDR10B was highly expressed in brain, and a strong expression signal was detected in hippocampal neurons by immunohistochemical analysis. RT-PCR and immunohistochemical analysis showed that SCDR10B was up-regulated in lung-cancer cell lines and human lung cancer. SCDR10B can catalyze the dehydrogenation of cortisol in the presence of NADP+, and therefore it is a hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase.

Important results of the Radio Frequencies Interference (RFI) at the National Space Centre, Sg Lang Selangor, Malaysia has been reported. In order to make sure that the data of solar monitoring in radio region is reliable, we need to study the variation of interference and the possible sources that contribute to this interference. This data has been taken from 1-2000 MHz at the main site of installation e-CALLISTO system. The study is one of a main part of an initiative of e-CALLISTO networking research in order to identify the main RFI sources and to monitor continuously the behavior of the RFI at the site. Our main objective is to qualify the potential of monitoring a continuous radio emission of the Sun. This work is also an initiative of the International Space Weather Initiative (ISWI) project where Malaysia is one of the countries that joined the e-CALLISTO network. Due to our results this site showed the positive impact for the solar monitoring purpose. It is hoped that the survey will continue from time to time in a consistent mode so that any polluted signal for radio astronomy purpose can be protected. Overall, we can still get a good solar burst data, especially at 40-400 MHz. Perhaps, we can contribute the good data for solar burst monitoring towards the maximum cycle beginning the end of this year 2013.

Opis:
Purpose: About 70% injury of gymnasts happened during landing – an interaction between gymnast and landing mat. The most injured joint is the ankle. The current study examined the effect of mechanical properties of landing mat on ankle loading with aims to identify means of decreasing the risk of ankle injury. Method: Gymnastic skill – salto backward stretched with 3/2 twist was captured by two high-speed camcorders and digitized by using SIMI-Motion software. A subject-specific, 14-segment rigid-body model and a mechanical landing-mat model were built using BRG.LifeMODTM. The landings were simulated with varied landing-mat mechanical properties (i.e., stiffness, dampness and friction coefficients). Result: Real landing performance could be accurately reproduced by the model. The simulations revealed that the ankle angle was relatively sensitive to stiffness and dampness of the landing mat, the ankle loading rate increased 26% when the stiffness was increased by 30%, and the changing of dampness had notable effect on horizontal ground reaction force and foot velocity. Further, the peak joint-reaction force and joint torque were more sensitive to friction than to stiffness and dampness of landing mat. Finally, ankle muscles would dissipate about twice energy (189%) when the friction was increased by 30%. Conclusion: Loads to ankles during landing would increase as the stiffness and dampness of the landing mat increase. Yet, increasing friction would cause a substantial rise of the ankle internal loads. As such, the friction should be a key factor influencing the risk of injury. Unfortunately, this key factor has rarely attracted attention in practice.
