Opis:
Collaborative content management systems (CMS) are employed to handle large collections of written material concurrently generated by multiple authors. A network based infrastructure allows members of a group to interactively and simultaneously create, review, and edit product documentation, web content, or other interrelated documents on-line and in real time. The tools are ideal for providing information to the students of engineering and computer graphics. The platform also invokes certain ethical considerations, including intellectual property and anonymity, to provide students with a valuable first-hand perspective of these issues as they are being studied. The paper defines the role of information system at the educational institution, the expedience to the lecturer of engineering and computer graphics the same as usefulness to the student. It also analyses aspects of CMS creation, validates need for system and goals, describes proposals given by the Student Council of VGTU and their needs and system realization tools. System operation is described at the end of the paper together with findings and predictable works.
Opis:
Contemporary world events are demonstrating the need to embrace and further develop tele-health options for assessment and delivery of biopsychosocial healthcare services. This is now possible, given advances in communication technologies allowing virtual connections of medical personnel with constituents, as well as necessary, in light of recent challenges posed by infectious conditions and growing needs for travel restrictions, social distancing, and isolation of large portions of populations. Moreover, the opportunity to virtually connect with persons through ubiquitous computer-based and handheld communication devices allows comprehensive care provision to include underserved areas, where restricted, walk-in access to brick-and-mortar establishments has long been recognized as a limiting factor in healthcare. This review examines evolving approaches of tele-healthcare, with a specific focus on telemedicine as a bridge between traditional, in-person approaches to diagnose and treat medical conditions and new healthcare opportunities developing to meet changing societal needs. The three purposes of the review are: discuss background information, with a brief look at policy and procedure guiding applications of tele-techniques in healthcare practices; identify relevant scientific studies to show the breadth of new evidence-based research for telemedicine practices; and, discuss challenges for the further development of telemedicine as healthcare systems in the United States evolve to meet current and projected healthcare needs.

Image management in crisis situations is one of the most important functions, not only for a company's team responsible for marketing, but also for its executives and strategists. Given today's ubiquity of the Internet, crises spread faster than just a few years ago, making it important to halt them effectively with the help of virtual communication. This article first considers the theoretical fundamentals in the field of image management, defining the concept of crisis, its sources and phases. Next, the empirical part presents a profile of the company under consideration, CD Projekt, examining selected examples of the crisis situations in has experienced. We then describe the solutions and strategies the company undertook to minimize the effects of the crisis, mainly losses of reputation. Opis:
In the external communication of theatres there is a number of „communicative tasks” (T. Luckmann 1986) that have to be completed. In regard to these tasks, a broader communicative struc-ture of texttypes and genres has developed, which can be referred to as a „communicative ecology”. At the beginning of the paper this complex structure is briefly presented. Subsequently, the paper deals with two important components of the ecology in the external communication of theatres: the physical and the virtual communication space. The objective of the paper is to describe the typical characteristics of place-bound texts in the physical space and texts in the digital space of the cultural institution „theatre”. In this way it should be explored how (that is, on the basis of which linguistic elements and other semiotic resources) and for what purposes the institution „theatre” communicates through its place-bound and digital texts with its (potential) customers. As texts in such „genre networks” (K. Adamzik 2011) are related to one another, the paper also aims to determine the intertextual relations between the analysed texts in both communication spaces.

Opis:
These turbulent times require more demanding level of knowledge, which is reflected in the expected requirements for educational institutions. It is thus obvious that the decision on the choice of educa- tional institution, field of study or programme is not a simple thing. These decisions should be viewed in the wider context of responding to the expectations of potential customers and the rapid progress in technology. Current and potential clients of educational institutions are technologically more ad- vanced, they manage communication in cyberspace. Therefore the marketing activities have to move more rapidly into this space.

Opis:
The civic and political participation is considered to be central to the concept of democracy and it is particularly relevant in the context of contemporary democracies. The participation of citizens in civic or political activities has been a constitutive element of democracy since ancient times. Any discussion of participation needs to acknowledge the space within which the citizens engage. This article will focus on the online engagement and online civic and political participation. The existing studies in literature focus on the analysis of the online election campaigns [Klotz 2005; Xenos, Foot 2005], on the study of the characteristics of the individuals who engage in on-line and off-line activities [Rice, Katz 2004; Weber 2003] or on the identification of the role of the media as a main information source for the voters [Rainie 2005]. This article aims to analyze the main features of the use of new media in political life and the relation between new media and civil society in Romania during 2004–2012. Also the article aims to provide and answer to the following questions: Which were the main characteristics of the usage of new media during the Romanian electoral campaigns 2004–2008/2009? How is the Internet used in the civic life during the non-electoral periods in Romania?

This study’s aim is to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and social media addiction (SMA) in Communication undergraduate students in Turkey. In addition to EI, the impact of demographic variables and social media use habits on SMA were investigated. For the study, quantitative method was chosen, and an online questionnaire was conducted on 317 Communication undergraduate students in Turkey with 301 participants being the final sample from different cities in Turkey. As a result of the study, analyses indicated that EI and SMA were related at medium and low levels. The EI partly predicted SMA. It was determined with Path analysis that intrapersonal skills, dealing with stress and adaptability could be statistically significant predictors of SMA sub-dimensions virtual tolerance and virtual communication at a negative level, and time spent on social media, number of posts on social media could have a significant impact on students’ SMA at a positive level. This research differs from other research conducted in Turkey in terms of SMA being examined with the focus of EI.

Opis:
This paper discusses the deconstructionist category of absence applied by Derrida to the notion of writing, as it is possible for a written message to function despite the physical non-presence of the sender, the recipient, and the context. Derrida challenges the absolute predominance of the Logos, manifested in orality, and sug gests elevating the status of writing. The Derridean concept of arche-writing entails comprehending the written sign as an infinite idea that transcends the present. This paper attempts to relate Derrida’s theory to the 21st century’s ubiquitous virtual communication, which largely involves graphic signs. Nowadays, ICT solu tions enable an anonymous sender to communicate with an absent recipient in an unspecified context by means of written characters. The exploration of digital space marks the end of the era of the Logos, and begins the period when writing turns into a symbol of permanence and infinity.

Opis:
The subject of the article is the ways of creating a virtual communicative community that is shaped around the criminological discourse, realized in the form of a podcast – a virtual genre of expression. The material basis are sound recordings under the common title “Piąte: nie zabijaj” (“The Fifth Commandment: You Shall Not Kill”), published on Justyna Mazur’s online channel, available on the YouTube platform. Addictionally, some comments of Internet users published under each analyzed recording were taken into account. The aim of the study is to show that the authors and recipients of audiovisual materials available on the Internet create a communication community specific to the virtual space, based on the similarity of interests, exchange of information and observations, on the closeness of moral and social attitudes towards crimes, their perpetrators and victims. The article presents the position that Justyna Mazur – the author of the analyzed material – not only makes her recordings available for entertainment or cognitive purposes, but also cares for the constitution of a permanent recipient group that interacts with the material and other participants of virtual communication. It has been shown that the author consciously uses various communication strategies: referring to the shared knowledge of the sender and the recipient, showing concern for listeners, sharing own experiences and observations, or formulating various requests in order to win the attention of recipients and encourage them to actively comment on recordings or interact with the author or other Internet users. The communicative activity in question also fosters the development of criminological discourse by informing a large group of recipients about the events that have occurred, exchanging information and accumulating knowledge on a specific topic. An important aspect that attracts attention when reading the analyzed materials is the linguistic setting of content relating to such sensitive topic as crime. The author, who aptly uses language as a tool can, thanks to her authority, sensitize Internet users to the issue of ethics and aesthetics of expression.
