Aim. To analyse the spiritual and mental existentials of Ukrainian culture, which allows identifying the immanent features of Ukrainian culture itself through the symbolic-thematic series Home-Field-Temple and examine the symbolism of the concepts “Home,” “Field,” and “Temple.” Results. The thesis that spiritual and mental existentials, in particular the Home-Field-Temple, reveal the mentality of the Ukrainian people, its spiritual and cultural identity has been further developed. Conclusion. The essence of the mentality of the Ukrainian people is revealed with the help of spiritual and mental existentials Home-Field-Temple. They play an important part in the creation of a single mental field of the Ukrainian nation, being revealed in its ideological life by certain inclinations or archetypes. The Home-Field-Temple symbol is a reference point for searching for certain archetypes of the nation. The concepts of Home-Field-Temple symbolise the trinity of one spiritual state of man, which is objectified in three guises. These concepts are so intertwined in the minds of Ukrainians that they see them as an inseparable unity – something symbolising their homeland. Home, land, and church have always been reliable support for the Ukrainian people.

This is especially true in the era of music consumption, when even CD quality forget about vinyl -is forgotten in favor of MP3 format, which is more comfortable in use but is known for faults of compression. Certainly, live performances give feelings incomparable with listening to such recordings. But Ukraine lacks the culture of attending and organizing live shows, and this is a problem to deal with if we want the new generations to understand what musical beauty is about. Music enriches personality, and Ukrainians now are effectively deprived of it.

Artykuł ma na celu uzupełnienie biografii Artura Seelieba - polskiego pedagoga, tłumacza, redaktora i działacza społecznego - o fakty z jego działalności w prasie ukraińskiej. Urodzony w Galicji Wschodniej, przepojony miłością do swojej ojczyzny i narodu ukraińskiego, wśród którego dorastał, Artur Seelieb część swojego życia poświęcił propagowaniu kwestii ukraińskiej w Europie, zwłaszcza w krajach niemieckojęzycznych i francuskojęzycznych. W latach studenckich Seelieb był wydawcą i redaktorem ukraińskich socjalistycznych gazet młodzieżowych w Galicji. Podczas pobytu w Szwajcarii włączył się w tłumaczenie i publikację w języku niemieckim dzieł Tarasa Szewczenki oraz zaznajomienie Polonii szwajcarskiej z twórczością Iwana Franki. Jego nieocenionym wkładem w prasę ukraińską był magazyn „La Revue Ukrainienne”, który redagował w 1915 r. W celu promocji kwestii ukraińskiej w krajach Ententy w czasopiśmie zamieszczano artykuły o tematyce społeczno-politycznej, krajoznawczej, literackiej i naukowej, a także analityczne recenzje publikacji z prasy europejskiej, materiałów bibliograficznych, zapowiedzi czasopism ukraińskich i książek w językach obcych. Po raz pierwszy opublikowano na jego łamach w języku francuskim opowiadanie Wasyla Stefanyka Weczirnia hodyna (przetłumaczona przez A. Seelieba).
The purpose of this article is to complement the biography of Artur Seelieb – Polish educator, translator, editor and social activist – by adding facts about his activities in the Ukrainian press. Born in Eastern Galicia, full of love for his country and the Ukrainian people whom he grew up with, Artur Seelieb spent a part of his life propagating the Ukrainian issues in Europe, especially in German- and French-speaking countries. In his university years A. Seelieb was an editor of the Ukrainian socialist newspapers for adolescents in Galicia. During his stay in Switzerland, he took part in translating and publishing the works of Taras Szewczenko in German and introducing the Polish people living in Switzerland to the works of Iwan Franko. His invaluable contribution to the Ukrainian press was the magazine ‘La Revue Ukrainienne’, which he edited in 1915. In order to promote the Ukrainian issues in the countries comprising Entente, the magazine published articles of the socio-political nature, local history, literary and scientific criticism, as well as analytical reviews of publications in the European press, bibliographical materials and announcements of Ukrainian magazines and books in foreign languages. The first story published in the magazine was a short story of Wasyl Stefanyk ‘Godzina wieczorna’, published in French (translated by A. Seelieb).

The aim of this article is to describe the definition of a “cultural element” and to provide an analysis of the methods used in the translation of Yurii Andrukhovych’s autobiographical text The Secret. Instead of a Novel. The work was published in 2007 by the publishing house Folio in Kharkiv (Ukraine), and it was translated into the Polish language by Michał Petryk. “Cultural elements” mean here those elements of the text that are a part of the culture of a given country. These include such elements as personal and generic titles, phrases, fragments of texts from a country’s literature, statements by famous people related to the important events that happened in the country. They also include the social, political, scientific, and cultural environment, including music, cinematography, and more. Yurii Andrukhovych outlines many of the details that were characteristic for the USSR and tries not to distort the facts. The Secret is an autobiographical novel; therefore, it contains many reminiscences about the Soviet Union, Ukrainian culture, and literature. An autobiography becomes a kind of time machine for him, an attempt to reconstruct the past. Therefore, he pays a lot of attention to the smaller things and tries to convey the details of the atmosphere of the time described. Because of this, the work is saturated with cultural elements that may cause untranslatability. The cultural elements mentioned in Yurii Andrukhovych’s text and the correlation of translation have not been often analysed in the past scientific studies; hence, this creates a need for scientific research. The scope of this study is limited to the group of literary-political cultural elements. The article analyses the methods chosen by the translator and compares the level of equivalence of the translated text to the original; also, it finds the causes of untranslatability of the novel.

Opis:
Language in human civilization as a part of political, cultural and social life is an irreplaceable communicator. Ethnically language expresses facts, events, people and time. It saves and transports stylistic phenomena of language with new thinking constructs of vision, with traditional and original stylistics of folk and literary speech. This peculiarity of language is manifested in its linguistic cultures – the linguistic conceptualization signs (units) of creative, cultural content in broad sense, cultural phenomena, cultural notions and nominations, knowledge of ideologies, individuals, events, facts and epochs. The existing state of cultural consciousness includes, in addition to the modern ideologues, the inheritance of social, aesthetic and ethical culture of the previous ages of the ethnos development. It is displayed in verbal codes in the form of lexical-grammatical semantics of linguistic units of all speech levels: phonosemantics, lexicology, phraseology, grammar, word formation, syntax, linguistic, linguistic communication, text formation, linguoculture. Purpose. The aspirations of the authors to show language communication and cultural cooperation of Polish and Ukrainian scientific figures of culture in the past for the benefit of our nations, to motivate younger generation to a common cultural work have been the subjects of our linguistic style study. Methods. The descriptive method makes it possible to carry out a description of the textual material; historical and philological commentary explains the philological sense in the historical context; with the help of linguistic and linguocultural analysis of literary texts, we define stylistics and linguocultures that have a conceptual value in the studied samples. Results. The general conclusion may be the fact of the recognition of the extremely important role of numerical inter-language and intercultural contacts between Ukrainians and Poles in the past and the projections of their future development. In today's turbulent world, which is undergoing regular attacks in an undeclared information war, friendly contacts and mutual understanding between our peoples depend to a large extent on knowledge and appreciation of the road of understanding they have gone through. Polish-Ukrainian relations have been experiencing different, more and less successful periods, but in the perspective of the historical development of the two modern European powers, bright future based on mutual understanding, mutual respect and mutual assistance is seen – this implies future directions of research.

The article discusses the educational actions of the Greek Orthodox Church in Eastern Galicia and Transcarpathia. In the interwar period, the religious influence remained one of the key elements of national identity creation of the Ukrainians. In particular, the Greek Orthodox Church played an important role in the preservation of the national and religious identity of the Ukrainian people. The Orthodox clergy - particularly in Eastern Galicia, and to a lesser extent in Transcarpathia - constituted a powerful force in shaping the development of the Ukrainian political life. The Church exerted a significant influence on the development of Ukrainian culture and national heritage, and throughout the 1920s and 1930s, it remained an important factor in the unification and spiritual guidance in the fight for the Ukrainian independence. The Greek Orthodox Church was not only extremely important for the development of the secular system of schooling, but also actively took part in educational, scholarly, cultural and charity efforts. Its main mission was to educate the inhabitant of Transcarpathia and Eastern Galicia in the religious and national spirit.
W artykule omówione zostały działania edukacyjne i wychowawcze Kościoła greckokatolickiego w Galicji Wschodniej i na Zakarpaciu. W latach międzywojennych czynnik religijny wciąż pozostawał jednym z kluczowych elementów kształtowania tożsamości narodowej Ukraińców. Zwłaszcza Kościół greckokatolicki odegrał znaczącą rolę w zachowaniu tożsamości narodowej i religijnej Ukraińców. Duchowieństwo greckokatolickie, głównie w Galicji Wschodniej, mniej na Zakarpaciu, było tą siłą napędową, która określała kierunek rozwoju ukraińskiego życia narodowego w zakresie politycznym. Kościół ten wywarł ogromny wpływ na rozwój kultury ukraińskiej i dziedzictwa narodowego, w latach 20. i 30. XX wieku pozostał ważnym czynnikiem konsolidacji i wsparcia duchowego w walce o państwowość ukraińską. Kościół greckokatolicki miał wielkie zasługi nie tylko dla rozwoju szkolnictwa świeckiego, lecz także aktywnie prowadził swoją działalność edukacyjną, naukową, kulturalną i charytatywną. Jego głównym zadaniem było kształcenie Ukraińców Zakarpacia i Galicji Wschodniej w duchu religijnym i narodowym.

This article analyzes the preaching activities of Antonii Radyvylovsky in order to distinguish in the preacher’s output the general characteristics of the Baroque period, formed under the influence of other cultures. Particular attention is paid to the humorously ridiculous aspect of the preacher's works, which have not been considered at all before. The source base for the study is the handwritten and printed sermons of Antonii Radyvylovsky from his collections The Fenced Garden of the Virgin Mary and The Crown of Christ. It is concluded that Ukrainian Baroque, while absorbing the main features of European Baroque, had its own characteristics. In this context, the legacy of the prominent XVII century Ukrainian preacher Antonii Radyvylovsky constitutes a typical example of the introduction of Latinizing Christian traditions into the Orthodox liturgy. In the center is a "living" earthly man with his virtues and flaws. The main theme in the moralistic examples in Radyvylovsky's sermons is that of a righteous and sinful (moral and immoral) life. His humorous and satirical discourses allowed Radyvylovsky to develop in his listeners a capacity for a paradoxically Baroque repentance, which is closely tied to personal reflection through laughter.
W artykule analizowana jest działalność kaznodziejska Antoniego Radyvylovskiego w kontekście ogólnych cech baroku ukraińskiego, ukształtowanych pod wpływem innych kultur. Szczególną uwagę zwraca się na humorystyczno-satyryczny aspekt dzieł kaznodziei, który nie był wcześniej brany pod uwagę. Podstawą źródłową opracowania są rękopiśmienne i drukowane kazania Antoniego Radyvylovskiego ze zbiorów Ogrodzony ogród Marii Panny i Korona Chrystusa. Stwierdza się, że ukraiński barok, wchłaniając główne cechy europejskiego baroku, miał swoje cechy swoiste. W tym kontekście spuścizna wybitnego XVII-wiecznego ukraińskiego kaznodziei Antoniego Radyvylovskiego stanowi typowy przykład wprowadzenia latynizujących tradycji chrześcijańskich do liturgii prawosławnej. W centrum znajduje się "żywy" ziemski człowiek z jego cnotami i wadami. Głównym tematem moralistycznych przykładów w kazaniach Radyvylovskiego jest prawe i grzeszne (moralne i niemoralne) życie. Jego humorystyczne i satyryczne dyskursy pozwoliły Radziwiłłowskiemu rozwinąć w słuchaczach zdolność do paradoksalnej barokowej formy skruchy, która jest ściśle związana z osobistą refleksją poprzez śmiech.

Analiza naukowego i metodologicznego podejścia do tworzenia korpusu tekstów literatury obcej w programie nauczania dla wyższych klas szkół średnich na Ukrainie wykazała dominację tradycyjnych metod selekcji dzieł literackich. Większość tekstów należy do kultury eurocentrycznej: francuskiej, niemieckiej, angielskiej, rosyjskiej. Jednocześnie są autorzy, których trudno zaliczyć do jakiejkolwiek literatury narodowej, jeśli porzuci się ogólnie przyjęte kryteria: język, narodowość, państwo. Historia kultury ukraińskiej przeplata się z historią wielu innych narodów Europy, dlatego proponuję stworzyć dla takich autorów specjalną kategorię historyczno-literacką: „Literatura ludów Ukrainy”.
The analysis of the scientific and methodological approach to the foreign literature texts corpus formation in the curriculum for the upper grades of secondary schools in Ukraine has shown the prevalence of traditional methods of literary works selection. Most of the texts belong to the Eurocentric culture: French, German, English, Russian. At the same time, there are authors who can hardly be attributed to any national literature if we proceed from generally accepted criteria: language, nationality, state. Since the history of Ukrainian culture is intertwined with the history of many other European peoples, I suggest creating a special historical and literary category for such authors: “Literature of the peoples of Ukraine”.

Философское наследие двух богословов XVIII века − Феофана Прокоповича и Григория Сковороды − даёт возможность увидеть ‘несхожее сходство’ украинской и русской культур. У Сковороды сильнее, чем у Прокоповича, выражено западное влияние. Важными темами для него стали индивидуализм, предпочтение природы и натуры городу. Его стиль близок фольклорному. При всей амбивалентности своих взглядов, Сковорода никогда не противопо- ставляет украинское и русское, но созданное им украинское историко-культурное простран- ство отчётливо отличается от русского ортодоксального его времени.
The dissimilar similarity of Ukrainian and Russian cultures of the 18th century may be recognized in the theologians Feofan Prokopovich and Hryhory Skovoroda. In the latter, Western influence is much more pronounced. Skovoroda’s characteristic themes include individualism and a preference for land and nature over the city while his way of expression is close to folkloric. Despite an ambivalence and tension, Skovoroda does not build an opposition of the Russian and the Ukrainian; however, the recognizably Ukrainian cultural space which he creates differs considerably from that of the Russian Orthodoxy of the time.

In a process of continuously adjusting to and counteracting the circumstances of conflict since 2014, the Ukrainian media community has become polarized (Budivska & Orlova, 2017). Nygren et al. (2018) observe a confrontation between the ideal of neutrality in coverage and favoring “patriotic journalism” in practice among Ukrainian journalists. This article takes this discussion further and highlights the role of professional journalism associations and international organizations in the struggles within the journalism culture in the situation of conflict. The article uses Ginosar’s (2015) interpretation of Hanitzsch’s (2007) model of journalism culture and Mouffe’s (2013) conceptualization of agonistic vs. antagonistic struggle to discuss the project Two Countries — One Profession is initiated and supported by the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. Finally, it draws on the reactions by the Ukrainian media community.

Prezentowany tekst ma na celu pokazanie, że Ukraina jest państwem osadzonym pomiędzy Wschodem a Zachodem – tak w sensie geograficznym, jak i metaforycznym (czego niezwykle dramatycznym przykładem są wydarzenia z przełomu lat 2013/2014). Etnicznie i kulturowo nie jest krajem monolitycznym. Wiara w narodową jedność (rozumiana jako homogeniczna wspólnota), która jest wyrażana przez państwo ukraińskie, jest utopią. Potwierdza ten fakt analizowana w artykule kwestia języka. Przeprowadzone w pracy rozważania teoretyczne oparte na koncepcji kultury Scheina pokazują, że język jest jednym z elementów kształtowania kultury i powinien być brany pod uwagę jako jeden z podstawowych determinantów kształtujących kulturę pracy, a wraz z nią – zarządzanie organizacjami. Teoria kultury obecna w naukach o zarządzaniu stanowi odzwierciedlenie teorii kultury w nauce w ogóle. Zrozumienie realiów kulturowych danego kraju pomaga w kształtowaniu kultury organizacyjnej w konkretnym miejscu pracy, a wraz z nią – w zarządzaniu organizacjami. W przypadku państwa ukraińskiego mamy do czynienia z wzajemnym przenikaniem się i oddziaływaniem dwóch kultur. Zarządzanie w omawianym środowisku wymaga skupienia się bardziej na kulturze lokalnej niż państwowej.
The paper’s aim is to show that Ukraine is a country embedded between East and West - both in the geographical and the metaphorical terms. It is not a monolithic country – its ethnicity and the culture are complex phenomena, so the belief in the national unity of the Ukrainian society, which is expressed by the Ukrainian State, remains an utopia. This fact is reflected in the problematic of language, which is analysed in this paper. Theoretical considerations presented in the work, mainly the concept of culture by Schein, show that language is one of the crucial elements of a culture, and should be considered as one of the basic determinants influencing the culture of work, and with it – the management of organizations. Understanding the cultural reality – and so the cultural diversity of the country helps in shaping and understanding the organizational culture in a specific place of work. In the case of Ukraine we are facing an interpenetration and interaction of two cultures at least. Management in this environment requires focusing more on the local than the state patterns of culture.

Kraje i regiony świata różnią się między sobą nie tylko dostrzegalną gołym okiem kulturą materialną i obyczajową, ale także zakorzenionymi w historii takimi elementami, jak: poczucie tożsamości, instytucje oraz wartości. Elementy tożsamości (język, religia) oraz sfera instytucji (prawo, organizacje, ustawy) są dla osób z zewnątrz (obcych) dostrzegalne, natomiast wartości są podstawą dysonansów na tle kulturowym. Dla osób nieświadomych różnic kulturowych kontakt z osobami pochodzącymi z innych krajów może być nie tylko źródłem satysfakcji, lecz także niezadowolenia, rozgoryczenia, a w skrajnym przypadku – szoku kulturowego. Jednym ze sposobów na uniknięcie zakłóceń w sferze sprawności międzykulturowej komunikacji interpersonalnej jest wypracowanie umiejętności rozpoznawania wymiarów kultury oraz praktycznego rozwiązywania problemów poprzez godzenie ze sobą odmiennych wartości kulturowych, które dotyczą wzajemnych relacji, form komunikacji czy formalności. Celem artykułu jest przekazanie wiedzy na temat różnic kulturowych między Polską a Ukrainą w aspekcie teorii wymiarów kultury. Znajomość tych różnic powinna się przyczynić do niwelowania ewentualnych barier, które najczęściej wynikają z generalizowania i stereotypizacji. Niniejsze opracowanie wpisuje się w naukowy dyskurs podejmowany w literaturze na temat wielokulturowości oraz różnic kulturowych. Temat jest aktualny w obecnej sytuacji napływu społeczności ukraińskiej do naszego kraju. W badaniach zastosowano niereaktywną metodę krytyczną analizy literatury oraz metodę jakościową, na którą składały się wywiady kierowane dotyczące preferencji oraz zachowań ukraińskiej młodzieży. Badania jakościowe przeprowadzono jeszcze przed wybuchem pandemii COVID-19 oraz wojny na Ukrainie, podczas wielokrotnych pobytów naukowo-dydaktycznych autorów razem i osobno na Ukrainie, w tym także w ramach umowy o współpracy naukowo-badawczej i dydaktycznej, podpisanej na podstawie pozytywnej opinii Senackiej Komisji ds. Współpracy Międzynarodowej między Uniwersytetem Ekonomicznym w Katowicach a Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University. Współautorka artykułu jest opiekunem tej współpracy.
Countries and regions across the globe exhibit disparities not only in their sensate, material and moral cultures, readily discernible to observers, but also in historically embedded elements such as institutions, values, and collective identity. Components of identity, including language and religion, as well as institutional frameworks encompassing legal systems, organizational structures, and legislative frameworks, are conspicuous to outsiders, whereas values serve as the foundation for cultural discrepancies. For individuals unaware of cultural differences, contact with people from other countries can result not only in satisfaction but also in frustration, bitterness, and, in extreme cases, culture shock. One strategy to mitigate disruptions in intercultural interpersonal communication efficiency involves cultivating the ability to recognize cultural dimensions and practically addressing issues, by reconciling divergent cultural values pertinent to interpersonal relations, communication styles, or formal protocols. The objective of this article is to elucidate cultural variances between Poland and Ukraine and to cultivate competencies in effectively dismantling communication barriers, often stemming from stereotypes and ethnocentrism. This study contributes to the scholarly discourse on multiculturalism and cultural differences, undertaken in literature, with particular relevance amidst the influx of Ukrainian nationals into our country. The research employs desk research and qualitative methods, including targeted interviews on the preferences and behaviors of Ukrainian youth. Qualitative inquiry was conducted, prior to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, during the authors’ multiple scholarly and educational visits to Ukraine. These visits were facilitated by a collaborative agreement on scientific research and teaching cooperation, established between the University of Economics in Katowice and Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, endorsed by the Senate Committee for International Cooperation on January 28, 2019. The co-author of this article oversees this collaborative initiative (2018, 2019, January 2020).

The purpose of this article is to present the role of religious texts for the understanding of the spoken Ruthenian language in the former Commonwealth of the Two Nations (Rzeczpospolita). The books published by the Basilian printing house in Pochaiv during the 18th century reveal the features of the common Ukrainian language (the approximation of the articulation of [i] and [y], [u] and [y], the hardening of [t] and [d]), which support the thesis that it is a testimony of the state of the Ukrainian language of the 18th century.
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie roli tekstów o charakterze religijnym w poznaniu żywego języka ludności dawnej Rzeczypospolitej. Przedmiotem analizy są druki poczajowskie wydane w drukarni bazyliańskiej w ciągu XVIII stulecia. Odwzorowane na piśmie cechy żywego języka ukraińskiego (rozwój dawnego jać w [i], ikanie, zbliżenie artykulacji [i] i [y], zbliżenie artykulacji [u] i [y], stwardnienie [t] i [d]) mają charakter upowszechniających się tendencji, co przemawia za tezą, iż jest to świadectwo stanu języka ukraińskiego w XVIII wieku. Druki te, wydane w tzw. prostej mowie stanowią zarazem dowód na ewolucyjność rozwoju literackiego języka ukraińskiego od czasów najdawniejszych do współczesności.

The book concerns the subject matter of illness in Ukrainian popular literature. The author refers to interdisciplinary approaches that combine humanist-leaning currents of medicine with those literary studies perspectives that appreciate the importance of corporeality in studying culture and identity. Narratives of malady in popular culture – which shapes social attitudes and worldviews – make up a new, ethically engaged social discourse that stresses the importance of individual perspectives and causes Ukrainian-language works of popular fiction to become initiators of cultural change.

Aim. The purpose of the research is to develop and substantiate a theoretical model for the formation of a professional culture of finance students. Methods. The authors used a set of interrelated methods: comparative analysis, comparison and synthesis, appropriate for modelling professional culture as a pedagogical phenomenon, and functional-structural analysis for systematisation of the stages of building the professional culture. A theoretical model of professional culture has been designed and validated. This model consolidates research from studies of motivation, cognitive sciences, organisational behaviour, and values in educational and financial institutions and lays the foundations of finance students’ professional culture formation methodology. Results. The obtained results showed  positive dynamics in the formation components (motivational, creative, organisational and axiological) of the theoretical model of professional culture development. Our findings confirmed that the cultural and educational environment encourages students’ engagement in learning, boosts the development of their motivational and semantic sphere, ensuring the implementation of individual learning trajectories. Conclusion. The complex of methods implemented evidences the educational, cultural, and innovative potential of the college for training and students’ personal and professional development. The structure of the professional culture development model for finance students has driven a reconsideration of the content of their professional training, generation and dissemination of novel methods and technologies. Practical implementation. The research has resulted in changes to the vocational training programmes for college finance students, the introduction of  teaching methods for professional disciplines that proved their efficiency, and development of cooperation with banking institutions, financial and insurance companies.

The article is devoted to the visual culture of Ukraine since independence. It pays special attention to the trends and phenomena of contemporary Ukrainian visual culture that have entered the context of world culture through recognition on international cultural platforms (competitions, festivals, biennials, etc.). The considerations concern the development of various trends in contemporary Ukrainian art, which use various artistic media: photography, installation, performance and film. In particular, Ukrainian conceptual photography was the most interestingly represented by several generations of photographers of the Kharkiv School, who combined radical bodily imagery and social criticism. The Ukrainian installation is represented by the works of artists of the REP (Revolutionary Experimental Space) group, which is focused on the unity of art and politics and considers artistic creation as a political act. An interesting sub-direction of the installation is the video installation, which delivers an original combination of contemporary Ukrainian artists with site-specific art and artistic means of reflecting on the traumas inflicted on Ukrainian society by the war. The article pays special attention to the development of contemporary Ukrainian cinema. The author demonstrates the connection between the work of contemporary Ukrainian filmmakers and the traditions of Ukrainian poetic cinema. In addition, other trends in Ukrainian cinema are identified: the experimental search for a new film language, the development of documentary cinema, on top of the convergence of fiction and non-fiction artistic languages in the work of contemporary Ukrainian filmmakers. The dominant issues of contemporary Ukrainian films selected for screening at leading European film festivals are identified: inclusiveness, reflection on Ukrainian history, war trauma, psychological rehabilitation of combatants, etc.
Artykuł poświęcony jest ukraińskiej kulturze wizualnej od czasu uzyskania niepodległości. Tekst zwraca szczególną uwagę na trendy i zjawiska współczesnej ukraińskiej kultury wizualnej, które weszły w kontekst kultury światowej poprzez zdobycie uznania na międzynarodowych platformach kulturalnych (konkursy, festiwale, biennale itp.). Badany jest rozwój różnych trendów we współczesnej sztuce ukraińskiej, które wykorzystują rozmaite media artystyczne: fotografię, instalację, performance i kino. W szczególności ukraińska fotografia konceptualna była najciekawiej reprezentowana przez kilka pokoleń fotografów szkoły charkowskiej, którzy łączyli w swoich pracach radykalne obrazy ciała z krytyką społeczną. Ukraińską instalację reprezentują prace artystów z grupy REP (Rewolucyjna Przestrzeń Eksperymentalna), która koncentruje się na jedności sztuki i polityki oraz traktuje twórczość artystyczną jako akt polityczny. Interesującym podkierunkiem jest instalacja wideo, będąca oryginalnym połączeniem współczesnych ukraińskich artystów ze sztuką site-specific i odzwierciedlająca traumy zadane ukraińskiemu społeczeństwu przez wojnę. Artykuł zwraca szczególną uwagę na rozwój współczesnego kina ukraińskiego. Pokazuje związek między twórczością współczesnych ukraińskich filmowców a tradycjami ukraińskiego kina poetyckiego. Ponadto zidentyfikowano inne trendy w kinie ukraińskim: eksperymentalne poszukiwanie nowego języka filmowego, rozwój kina dokumentalnego oraz konwergencję artystycznych języków fikcji i non-fiction w twórczości współczesnych ukraińskich filmowców. Zidentyfikowano dominujące tematy współczesnych ukraińskich filmów wybranych do pokazów na wiodących europejskich festiwalach filmowych: inkluzywność, refleksja nad ukraińską historią, trauma wojenna, psychologiczna rehabilitacja bojowników itp.

Opis:
Lesya Ukrainka created a version of Don Juan’s history in Ukrainian culture. The poet introduced in the drama the Dolores image who loves Don Juan. Dolores became a symbol of the love archetype in the art work. Vitaly Hubarenko’s work in great academic ballet genre is one of best artistic interpre-tations of this drama. Ballet style is an allusion to S. Prokofiev’s style. Dolores image gets characteristic by genres of lullaby and prayer. Tenderness of character is embodied by penetrating sound of violins in the high register. The transformation of love theme shows us another facet of the Dolores personality who committed a self-sacrifice act for the sake of a loved one. Dolores in the ballet represents the female essence of love as a creation, thus the term „Femin-personalism” is offered in this article. The understanding of the term is defined by analogy with the philosophy. P. Bowne, E. Mounier, N. Berdyaev and other thinkers have shown an archetype of personality as a person which has a divine source.

Opis:
The article is devoted to political, cultural and mental diversity of Donbass from the rest of Ukraine. The author shows the uniqueness of this region as a result of a complex and contradictory history, as well as the effect of permanent social, economic and ethnocultural processes of a colonial and totalitarian character. This is the reason for the hybrid identity of local residents. Later on, more space is devoted to the work of two writers — Ukrainian-speaking Serhiy Zhadan and Ukrainian-Russian-speaking Vladimir Rafeenko.
В настоящей статье речь идет о политическом, культурном и психическом несходстве Донбасской области с остальными частями Украины. Автор представляет неповторимость этого региона как результат сложной и противоречивой истории, а также итог постоянных общественных, экономических и этнокультурных процессов колониального и тоталитарного характера. Все это становится поводом гибридной идентичности здешних жителей. В дальней части больше места уделяется творчеству двух писателей — украиноязычного Сергея Жадана и русско-украиноязычного Владимира Рафеенко.
