Opis:
High $T_c$ cuprate superconductors are characterized by two robust features: their strong electronic correlations and their intrinsic dynamical local lattice instabilities. Focusing on exclusively that latter, we picture their parent state in form of a quantum vacuum representing an electronic magma in which bound diamagnetic spin-singlet pairs pop in and out of existence in a Fermi sea of itinerant electrons. The mechanism behind that resides in the structural incompatibility of two stereo-chemical configurations $Cu^{II}O₄$ and $Cu^{III}O₄$ which compose the CuO₂ planes. It leads to spontaneously fluctuating Cu-O-Cu valence bonds which establish a local Feshbach resonance exchange coupling between bound and unbound electron pairs. The coupling, being the only free parameter in this scenario, the hole doping of the parent state is monitored by varying the total number of unpaired and paired electrons, in chemical equilibrium with each other. Upon lowering the temperature to below a certain T*, bound and unbound electron pairs lock together in a local quantum superposition, generating transient localized bound electron pairs and a concomitant opening of a pseudo-gap in the single-particle density of states. At low temperature, this pseudo-gap state transits via a first order hole doping induced phase transition into a superconducting state in which the localized transient bound electron pairs get spatially phase correlated. The mechanism driving that transition is a phase separation between two phases having different relative densities of bound and unbound electron pairs, which is reminiscent of the physics of ⁴He-³He mixtures.

Opis:
Magnetic field dependence of critical current density $(J_{c})$ of $ErBa_2Cu_3O_y$ thick film "Er-123" and melt textured $GdBa_2Cu_3O_y$ bulk "Gd-123" at liquid nitrogen temperature is reported. Gd-123 exhibits a usual peak effect at magnetic fields around 2 T, while $J_{c}$ of the Er-123 thick film continuously decreases with increasing field. The model of thermally activated flux motion was adopted to fit the critical current density of both Gd-123 and Er-123 materials. It was found that the critical current density of both types of the high $T_{c}$ materials could be modeled by the model of thermally activated flux motion utilizing a combination of two functions; one increasing and another one decreasing with field.

W artykule dokonano prezentacji teorii samokontroli/biegu życia autorstwa T.C. Pratta.
T.C. Pratt’s self-control/life-course theory of criminal behavior – an evolutionary extension proposal The article presents the theory of self-control/life-course by T.C. Pratt. It shows the advantages of the theory as a synthesis of two important theoretical trends in criminology. It also indicates essential deficits of this theory. Above all, in the article authors presented arguments in favor of the thesis that the Pratt’s proposal may be supplemented and developed in the framework of evolutionary approach. The authors showed some detailed proposals and pointed out the potential directions and key assumptions of a project of possible further explanation of relations between self-control and life-course in this framework.

Opis:
A model for real-space singlet pairs, hopping on the quasi 2D antiferromagnetic background of localized spins is further analysed. It is shown that lattice vibrations (if any), which break the symmetry of the in-plane oxygen position with respect to the nearest neighboring copper sites, may strongly influence both the magnitude and the temperature dependence of the$\text{} ^{17}$O NMR relaxation rate. For the Y site a situation is analogous, although the different modes may contribute to the effect. A relation of the results obtained to the Millis-Monien-Pines analysis is discussed. The validity of the mean-field random phase approximation for the description of the 2D antiferromagnet used previously is analysed. It is shown that the 2D fluctuations of the phase of the (bond) mean field parameter lead to the power-law decay with the distance of the corresponding correlation function (which remains finite in the mean field approximation). The spectrum of the phase fluctuations is found to be propagative in the one-loop approximation. An interaction of the real-space singlet pairs with the long-wavelength phase fluctuations is discussed.

Opis:
Damage and irreversible damage of YBaCuO tapes with high density current after switching from superconducting to normal state are investigated. Quasi-homogeneous current distribution across the tape in superconducting state can cause perfect tape damage or irreversible damage when current is slightly above critical value. The model of the tape heating during the optically initiated switching from superconducting to normal state is proposed. Analysis of causes inducing damage shows necessity to consider $0.5T_{m}$ damage criterion because of strong current influence on the damage processes. Possible damage mechanisms are described and crack tips motion simultaneously with switching from superconducting to normal state is considered. Application of optically illuminated YBaCuO tapes with nanosecond duration current pulses on the base of the described mechanisms is proposed.

Opis:
Pressure effect on the critical temperature, $T_{c}$, of the $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ superconductor was considered in the frame of a simple theoretical model which as a starting point assumes that $T_{c}$ vs. pressure, P, dependence can be described by an inverted parabola. Available experimental results on $T_{c}$ behavior under pressure were analyzed as a function of the zero pressure hole concentration in the superconducting $CuO_2$ planes, $n_{h}(P = 0 GPa) = n_{h0}$, for different constant values of P. Maximum $T_{c}$ that can be achieved under pressure was estimated and discussed in relation to the $n_{h0} = 1//8$ doping and establishment of charge and spin order. The results obtained here were used to estimate increase of the hole concentration in the $CuO_2$ planes which occurs as a result of pressure induced oxygen reordering.

The paper presents a shape and grade of inserts depending on the surface roughness of the intermetallic coatings NiAl and Ni3Al. Intermetallic coatings on nickel based were sprayed with a torch Casto-Dyn 8000 on the steel samples. Thermal spraying intermetallic coatings have been high surface roughness, and therefore they must to be finishing. Experimental research was conducted for unalloyed steel samples with thermal spraying NiAl and Ni3Al intermetallic coatings. Before applying coatings, the samples surface was properly prepared by stream abrasive working, degreasing and finally by cleaning of oxidation products. To testing cutting inserts shape selects square and trigon made tungsten carbide and cubic boron nitride (borazon). Machining intermetallic nickel based coatings were carried out for the cutting speed vc = 214 m/min in the case of after-machining with inserts of borazon, vc = 107 m/min cutting inserts for tungsten carbide, used feed fn = 0.06 mm/rev and depth of cut ap = 0.3 mm. Intermetallic coatings are characterized by high resistance to tribology wear. These materials are used in such fields of technology, such as: electronics, energy, defense, automotive, aviation, shipbuilding, and more industry. The NiAl and Ni3Al intermetallic have found widespread applications as high – temperature structural material due to their high melting point, low density, good thermal conductivity and excellent oxidation resistance. The paper proposes the finishing flame sprayed intermetallic coatings.

Opis:
We are continuously faced with the need to update the knowledge that we possess. Performing frequent updates allows us to learn new facts and discard those that no longer apply. One can reasonably argue that most, if not all, of our knowledge is acquired via suitable sequences of updates. By extension, the same applies to intelligent artifacts, such as intelligent knowledge bases and intelligent agents. However, performing meaningful updates is by no means a trivial task. First of all, we have to be able to properly represent our knowledge and provide it with a precise meaning or semantics. Intelligent artifacts, such as databases and intelligent agents, must be provided with a mathematically precise representation of the knowledge. Moreover, such knowledge must be represented in a manner, which is independent of procedural considerations, easy to communicate, exchange and reason about. We must be able to handle updates in a dynamically changing world and thus we have to decide how to resolve contradictions arising from new updates. Quite often, adding a new fact or a new rule to our knowledge base forces us to remove some other facts or rules that are inconsistent with the newly acquired information. At the same time, we want to make sure that the set of facts that need to be revised or outright deleted is, in some precise sense, minimal. Finally, we need to choose between different approaches to and types of updates. After all, updates were quite extensively studied in the literature for a number of years now. In this presentation, I will describe updates using the so-called interpretation or possible world approach. We will show how a commonsense version of Newton’s principle of inertia can be used to provide an elegant and simple characterization of such updates which properly subsumes the important class of revision programs, due to Marek and Truszczynski [MT, MT2], and the formula update approach, due to Winslett [W]. The presentation is intended to be introductory and accessible to non-experts. Consequently, it will only touch upon the important issues involved. The presented results were obtained jointly with Hudson Turner. For details we refer the reader to our joint paper [PT] and to subsequent papers on dynamic logic programs [APPP, ALPPP].

The development and research activity is connected to the production of newer and more functional products. Innovative processes are being developed and applied; services and projects are delivered. Products are work items that should be initially designed, then manufactured and finally sold and utilized. Examples of products may be airplanes, ships, cars, machine tools, gears, crankshafts, drive shaft, tubes as well as gasoline, electricity and gas, etc. The product has to meet the expectations of the future use. It is characterized by a set of functional features. In the case of machines and their capabilities and performance, for example, durability, reliability, resulting from the characteristics represented by the structural units forming the structure. The formation of the desired features of the surface layer in the technological process is an important problem due to the ability of the elements of kinematic pairs to fulfil the function as long as possible foreseen for them. The article presents results of experimental studies of turning cast steel grade GX2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3-3. The aim of the research was to determine the geometry of the cutting edge and the technological parameters of cutting that are conducive to obtaining the roughness in the field of very accurate machining. It can achieve the appropriate technological quality of the workpiece surface. After these experimental studies was determined that there is a reduction roughness using suitable inserts. Turning was made for the duplex cast steel. The technological parameters of machining process were used: feed rate f = 0.1-0.2 mm/rev, depth of cut ap = 0.5 mm, cutting speed vc = 50-100 m/min. Turning was made using universal lathe CDS 500x1000 equipped with CCMT carbide tipped inserts.

Opis:
In the manufacturing of machine elements was important to technological quality products. In surface engineering one of the economic and ecological treatments used for technological properties were burnishing rolling – pressuring process. This is a surface plastic forming a local plastic deformation based on the overall impression given by smooth and hard tool. In production, engineering cylindrical outer surfaces (e.g. plugs propulsion shaft centrifugal pumps seawater) were finishing. You can therefore propose burnishing in exchange for abrasive machining. The article presents the influence of parameters for burnishing rolling – pressuring process on the degree of relative strain hardening and surface roughness reduction ratio. Burnishing process carried out for 316L stainless steels. After the experimental study, it was determined that there was an increase in hardness and a decrease in roughness of the top outer cylindrical layer of stainless steel, which can be applied to the centrifugal pump shafts ship. Important question to determine in the article of the research was to receive appropriate technological quality. The burnishing due the technological and economic aspect in the production of machine parts in exchange for the abrasive processing can be used. After the experiments, it was found that the technical parameters are influenced by the hardness and the roughness of the outer cylindrical surfaces and the material ratio curve a convex shaped, which, taking into account the load capacity of the surface will be directly affected by its resistance to wear and corrosion of the surface layer.
