Opis:: Warszawa doświadczyła odrodzenia gospodarczego po latach sowieckiej hegemonii i tragicznych wydarzeniach II wojny światowej. Stolica Polski ma dziś jedną z największych giełd w Europie i jest jedną z najszybciej rozwijających się gospodarek na kontynencie. Jednak Warszawę i jej okolice dotyka poważny brak kompleksowej strategii rozwoju – tylko 16% obszaru metropolii jest objęte planem zagospodarowania przestrzennego pomimo rosnącego zapotrzebowania na mieszkania, transport i infrastrukturę. Te braki w połączeniu z ogólną niechęcią społeczeństwa do odgórnego sposobu podejmowania decyzji i słabej polityki podatkowej samorządów lokalnych, zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do opodatkowania nieruchomości, spowodowały i prawdopodobnie nadal będą tworzyć problemy rozwojowe miasta. W artykule autor poddaje analizie i dokonuje oceny różnych wyzwań dla Warszawy, zachęcając do rozważenia przyjęcia amerykańskiego modelu podatkowego dla samorządów terytorialnych w celu stworzenia lepszych warunków do rozwoju urbanistycznego aglomeracji warszawskiej.

Opis:: Celem rozważań jest zwrócenie uwagi na istotę podejmowanych decyzji oraz uzyskanie przesłanek do skonstruowania sposobu postępowania we wstępnych fazach projektowania, mających wpływ na tworzenie przestrzeni dostępnych i przyjaznych dla wszystkich użytkowników, w tym dla dzieci niepełnosprawnych. Zastosowano metody badań niezbędne do zdefiniowania problemu naukowego, jako wyjściowego dla dalszych opracowań, a w efekcie wskazania wytycznych wdrożeniowych. Z badań wstępnych wynika, że oczekiwania niepełnosprawnych małoletnich pozostają poza naukową refleksją. W artykule autorka wykazała, iż obowiązkiem projektanta jest tworzenie przestrzeni, która, uwzględniając potrzeby innych użytkowników, będzie dostępna i przyjazna dla dzieci, również niepełnosprawnych. Materiał będący wynikiem badań jest wyjściowy dla dalszych opracowań, zakłada się jego popularyzację nie tylko w obszarach naukowych, ale również wśród projektantów, inwestorów czy użytkowników środowiska zbudowanego.
An aim of considerations is to pay attention to the essence of decisions being made and to receive the premises to construct the way of conduct at early stages of designing affecting the creation of spaces accessible and friendly for all users, including handicapped children. The author applied the research methods indispensable to define the scientific problem as the starting point for further elaborations and, in effect, to indicate the implementation directives. The preliminary research shows that expectations of handicapped children are beyond the scientific reflexion. In her article, the author proved that the designer’s duty should be creation of the space which, taking into considerations needs of other users, will be accessible and friendly for children, the handicapped ones, too. The material being an outcome of the research is a starting point for further elaborations; the author assumes its popularisation not only in the scientific domains but also among designers, investors or users of the built environment.

Opis:: Space weather has a close connection with the interaction of the Earth and the Sun. As equatorial country, the characteristic features of the climate of Malaysia are uniform temperature, very high humidity and copious rainfall. Malaysia has an average of temperature of 26.7 °C per year. Therefore, it is suitable to monitor the Sun. In the following work, we will emphasize the development of Sun monitoring in Malaysia. The number of observatories are increasing. A dedicated work to understand the Sun activity in radio region is a part of an initiative of the United Nations together with NASA in order to support developing countries participating in „Western Science‟ research. Realizing how important for us to monitor the space weather, therefore, we have been utilizing the new radio spectrometer, CALLISTO (Compound Low Cost Low Frequency Transportable Observatories) spectrometer. Malaysia is one of the earliest country from South- East Asia (ASEAN) that involve this research. One of the advantages to start the solar monitoring in Malaysia is because our strategic location as equator country that makes possible to observing a Sun for 12 hours daily throughout a year. We strongly believe that Malaysia as one of contributor of solar activity data through E-CALLISTO network. This is a very good start for developing a space weather in Malaysia. With the implementation of CALLISTO systems and development of solar monitoring network, a new wavelength regime is becoming available for solar radio astronomy. Overall, this article presents an overview of space weather in Malaysia. With the present level of the international collaboration, it is believed that the potential involvement of local and international scientist in space weather will increase.

Opis:: Obserwujemy obecnie wzrost znaczenia przestrzeni cyfrowej – coraz więcej interakcji pomiędzy ludźmi, ich aktywności przenosi się w całości lub częściowo do tej przestrzeni. W rezultacie w nauce, w tym w geografii, pojawiły się nowe problemy oraz powstają i rozwijane są nowe sposoby badań. Uwzględniając to celem opracowania jest przybliżenie sposobów eksploracji sieci WWW w odniesieniu do wyszukiwarek internetowych. Wyszukiwarki są bowiem jednym z popularniejszych i łatwych do wykorzystani narzędzi eksploracji przestrzeni cyfrowej. Przedstawiono dwa sposoby pozyskania danych, a w konsekwencji analiz: manualne wpisywanie zapytań lub korzystanie ze skryptów oraz korzystanie ze specjalnych usług dostarczanych przez operatorów wyszukiwarki. Podjęto również rozważania dotyczące zalet i wad prezentowanego podejścia do analizy przestrzeni cyfrowej.
Today we notice the growing importance of digital space – more and more human interactions, their activity are moving, partly or entirely, to this space. As a result, new problems have occurred in science, including geography, and new ways of research are being developed. The aim of paper is to show methods of World Wide Web exploration in relation to the Internet search engines. Internet search engines are one of the most popular an easy to use tool for digital space exploration. The paper shows two methods of data acquisition and consequently analyses: manual entry of queries and use of services provided by search engine operators. We also discussed the pros and cons of the presented approach to digital space analysis.

Opis:: In this paper, we discuss the presence of community gardens in urban spaces and the types of activities performed there, using the city of Poznań as a case study. First, based on interviews with representatives of selected non-governmental organisations, analyses of available Internet sources as well as our own field research, cartographic and photographic documentation, we identify community gardens in the space of the city and explore their formation process. In the course of our study we also concentrate on the type of garden location. In addition, we devote our attention to the gardens which have disappeared from the fabric of the city. Our study reveals that community gardens currently operating in Poznań are established in non-central locations. These gardens are scattered in various parts of the city. Only in the Łazarz district there are two community gardens. Most frequently, community gardens are established on plots between old blocks of flats and tenement houses. Two gardens are located on underdeveloped greenery near the Warta River and in two city parks. A detailed examination of the events held in the community gardens in the Łazarz district in the years 2014–2017 shows that they had a very diversified character. Both of them turned out to be multifunctional, i.e. hosted meetings devoted to agriculture and horticulture, environmental education, artistic events, DIY and recreation. However, the percentage of events in the structure of the meetings organised in the gardens differed considerably.

Opis:: The main goal of revitalization is to improve the spatial condition of the city, which improves its image and increases the value of space. Any revitalization process requires the acquisition of geolocation data. This data can help visualize the spatial changes that were the goal of revitalization efforts. Acquiring such data is not always easy and requires the use of multiple sources of GIS information. The purpose of this paper is a spatial presentation of the analyzed areas with their identification before and after the revitalization process using spatial data made available in an open resource on Google Maps map application. Data is presented for two cities: Bydgoszcz (Poland), Varna (Bulgaria), characterized by a similar population. The paper uses current and archival orthophotos of the revitalized areas, Street View panoramic views from street level and own photographic documentation. The results of the analysis show that regardless of the stage of revitalization, the use of spatial data is essential in the designation of a degraded area, as well as later in its design, monitoring and management.

Opis:: Coraz większa konkurencja na rynku wymaga od przedsiębiorstwa poprawy efektywności procesu logistycznego. Jednym z ważniejszych elementów tego procesu jest magazyn. Dobra efektywność pracy magazynu poprawi jakość i czas dostawy. Parametry te mają również wpływ na satysfakcję klienta i obniżenie kosztów operacyjnych przedsiębiorstwa. Niniejszy artykuł poświęcono analizie wpływu ukształtowania magazynu i jego wyposażenia na koszty. Główny cel pracy to wskazanie korzyści, jakie występują po zmianie typu regału i rozmieszczenia zasobów. W artykule, wykorzystując studium przypadku, porównano parametry dotyczące zastosowania dwóch typów regałów i przedstawiono wyniki badań symulacji tras pokonywanych przez wózek widłowy pomiędzy poszczególnymi strefami. Kluczowym elementem jest wskazanie korzyści z wykorzystania regałów dynamicznych. Badania ukazały, że decyzja o odpowiednim ukształtowaniu magazynu i jego wyposażeniu jest bardzo ważna, ponieważ wpływa m.in. na wydajność magazynu, koszt transport, czas obsługi i pojemność magazynową. Korzyści, które wynikły z analizy, podzielono na trzy grupy: finansowe, środowiskowe i organizacyjne. Wyniki tego badania dostarczają cennych informacji również dla praktyków, ponieważ ukazują holistyczne podejście do reorganizacji układu przestrzennego magazynu.
Increasing competition on the market requires a company to improve the efficiency of its logistics process. The warehouse is one of the most important elements of the logistics process. Good warehouse operation efficiency will improve quality and delivery time. And these parameters also contribute to customer satisfaction and lower operating costs. This article is devoted to the analysis of the impact warehouse structure and its equipment have on cost. The main goal of this article is to identify the benefits of changing the type of rack and the arrangement of resources. Using a case study, the article compares parameters related to the use of two types of racks and presents results of simulation tests of routes covered by a forklift truck between individual zones. A key element of the work is to indicate the benefits of using a dynamic rack. The research has shown that the decision on the appropriate design of the warehouse and its equipment is very important, as it affects, among other things, warehouse efficiency, transport costs, service time and warehouse capacity. The benefits that resulted from the analysis were divided into three groups: financial, environmental and organizational. The results of this study provide valuable information for practitioners as they show a holistic approach to the reorganization of the spatial layout of the warehouse.

Opis:: A new technique of measurements of field emission current fluctuations is proposed. The technique uses fiber optics and offers such advantages as the possibility to easily vary the geometry of the probed regions and the distance between them on the field emitter. The correlation functions of field emission current fluctuations have been measured with this technique for O/W(110), H/W(110), Si(111) and Na/Si(111) systems. Some data on surface diffusion coefficients are derived from the measurements.
