    The paper presents Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski’s selected views on the state. In his opinion, the state reality is family, society, nation, territory, power as well as cultural and economic sovereignty. State authorities should perform a service function with regard to society, acting for the common good and protecting the rights and freedoms of a man and a citizen. The limits of the raison d’etat must be set with the good of a man in mind and cannot be violated by state authorities.
    W artykule przedstawiono poglądy Kardynała Stefana Wyszyńskiego na państwo. W jego opinii rzeczywistość państwowa to rodzina, społeczeństwo, naród, terytorium, władza oraz suwerenność kulturalna i ekonomiczna. Władze państwowe pełnić powinny funkcję służebną względem społeczeństwa, działając dla dobra wspólnego i chroniąc prawa oraz wolności człowieka i obywatela. Granice racji stanu wyznaczone muszą być natomiast dobrem człowieka, którego władze państwowe nie mogą dla niej naruszać.

    We review hard X-ray microscopy techniques with a focus on scanning microscopy with synchrotron radiation. Its strength compared to other microscopies is the large penetration depth of hard x rays in matter that allows one to investigate the interior of an object without destructive sample preparation. In combination with tomography, local information from inside of a specimen can be obtained, even from inside special non-ambient sample environments. Different X-ray analytical techniques can be used to produce contrast, such as X-ray absorption, fluorescence, and diffraction, to yield chemical, elemental, and structural information about the sample, respectively. This makes X-ray microscopy attractive to many fields of science, ranging from physics and chemistry to materials, geo-, and environmental science, biomedicine, and nanotechnology. Our scanning microscope based on nanofocusing refractive X-ray lenses has a routine spatial resolution of about 100 nm and supports the contrast mechanisms mentioned above. In combination with coherent X-ray diffraction imaging, the spatial resolution can be improved to the 10 nm range. The current state-of-the-art of this technique is illustrated by several examples, and future prospects of the technique are given.

    Wajdi Mouawad’s works focus mainly on the characters’ identity quest. The writing’s hardness shows the cruelty of war, which is a leitmotiv in Mouawad’s works, due to the Lebanese civil war that the author has knew in his childhood. In his first novel, Visage retrouvé, published in 2002, Mouawad exorcises the memory of the past by his telling of Wahab’s story. This teenager found out, at his 14th birthday, that he couldn’t recognize his mother’s face anymore. This terrible loss will lead him to a dreamlike quest of the true face of his mother, which symbolizes the land of origins, the childhood and the lost tenderness. We have chosen to analyze this quest, in the light of the obsessive recurrence of images and words.

    Opis:
    Stefan Schiwietz (Stefan Siwiec), 1863-1941 – a Roman Catholic priest, Doctor of Theology, historian of the Eastern Orthodox Church, pedagogue – was born in Miasteczko Śląskie (Georgenberg) on 23th August 1863. He studied theology at the University of Wrocław for 3 years (1881-1884) under H. Laemmer, F. Probst, A. König and M. Sdralek, among others, and then continued his theological studies in Innsbruck (1884-1886), where he was a pupil of J. Jungmann and G. Bickell. The seminarist spent two years (1885-1886) in Freising in Bavaria, where in 1886 he took his holy orders. Siwiec published his doctoral thesis in Wrocław in 1896, so at the time when Sdralek took the chair of Church History. The subject of the Silesian scholar’s dissertation concerned the monastic reform of Theodore the Studite De S. Theodoro Studita reformatore monachorum Basilianorum. Siwiec combined his didactic work as a religious and mathematics teacher in the public middle school in Racibórz with his academic studies on the history of Eastern Orthodox Christianity, especially on monasticism. The results of his research were published both in German and in Polish. His most significant work is a three-volume monograph Das morgenländische Mönchtum (Bd. 1: Das Ascetentum der drei ersten christl. Jahrhunderte und das egyptische Mönchtum im vierten Jahrhundert, Mainz 1904; Bd. 2: Das Mönchtum auf Sinai und in Palästina im 4 Jahrhundert, Mainz 1913; Bd. 3: Das Mönchtum in Syrien und Mesopotamien und das Aszetentum in Persien vierten Jarhundert, Mödling bei Wien 1938) on the history of the beginnings and development of Oriental monasticism in Egypt, Palestine, Syria and Persia, until the 4th century, which up to the present day has been cited in the world Patristic literature. Yet, Siwiec’s academic work still remains little known, especially in the circle of historians of antiquity and Polish patrologists. The equally little known figure of Max Sdralek, another Silesian (coming from Woszczyce) priest and academic, Rector of University of Wrocław, provides a significant context with the research methodology which this eminent scholar initiated, developed and tried to pass down to his pupils, among whom was also Stefan Siwiec. Sdralek strictly demanded that the principle of the priority of Church history over history of religion and psychology should be kept. In his works a description of socio-cultural factors and natural conditions determining the process of development of Christianity enables to see in a much clearer way how God’s plan has unfolded in history. The mutual dependence of Sdralek and Siwiec, the similarities and differences in their ways of studying and understanding Church history still remains an issue worth further exploration.

    Based on Leo Marx’s expression, « the technological sublime », this article analyzes science and technology as new incarnations of the sublime in nineteenth-century literature. The characteristics of the sublime, as defined by Edmund Burke, were formerly attributed to nature in Romantic literature. In his novel, The Future Eve, published in 1886, French writer Villiers narrates the creation of a machine woman, described as a « sublime creature », illustrating nineteenth-century new faith in science.

    An experiment, with unpolarized deuteron beam of 160 MeV impinging on liquid hydrogen and liquid deuterium targets, was carried out using BINA detector at KVI, in Groningen, the Netherlands. Data were collected for the purpose of obtaining high precision differential cross-section for the deuteron break-up reaction. The elastic scattering data were also collected alongside. We present here the methods applied in analysis of data collected in the backward part of the detector.

    Artykuł powstał na podstawie analizy dwudziestu pięciu wywiadów jakościowych z kobietami popierającymi protest obywatelski przeciwko orzeczeniu TK z 22 października 2020 zakazującemu aborcji z powodu przesłanek embriopatologicznych. Jest on poświęcony rekonstrukcji dynamiki emocji doświadczanych przez kobiety – początkowo indywidualnie, a następnie w ramach wspólnoty buntu na różnych etapach jej trwania i rozpadu. Autorki zaprezentowały kontekst emocji przeżywanych zarówno indywidualnie jak i kolektywnie oraz pokazały, jak utrata poczucia bezpieczeństwa ontologicznego w konsekwencji wyroku prowadziła do pojawiania się lęku i smutku u badanych. W tekście opisano również, jak wspominane uczucia ewoluowały w gniew mobilizujący do zaangażowania w protest. Pokazano, jak początkowa energia wspólnych manifestacji zaczęła się wypalać i skutkowała rozczarowaniem, kiedy podstawowy cel protestów nie został osiągnięty. Autorki wskazały, że pomimo rozgoryczenia sytuacją, kobiety ani w czasie manifestacji ani później nie były „uwięzione” w trudnych emocjach i wytwarzały strategie przywracania stabilności emocjonalnej i budowania poczucia wolności pomimo systemowych ograniczeń.
    The article is based on the analysis of twenty-five qualitative interviews (IDI) with women supporting the civil protest against the ruling of the Constitutional Tribunal from October 22, 2020, prohibiting abortion due to embryo-pathological premise. It addresses the emotional dynamics experienced individually and within a community of rebellion at various stages of its duration and disintegration. The authors analyzed the context of emotions and demonstrated how the loss of ontological safety resulting from the ruling led to the respondents’ anxiety and grief that transformed into anger. The latter mobilized women to participate in the protest. The article describes how the energy of demonstrations diminished, leading to disappointment when the goal of the protests was not achieved. The authors indicate that despite the resentment, women were not “trapped” in difficult emotions during the demonstrations and afterward, and they developed the strategies aimed to restore emotional stability and build a sense of freedom despite systemic constraints.

    Innerhalb des Beitrags wird am Beispiel zweier Werke mitteleuropäischer AutorInnen, die in ihrer „Nichtmuttersprache“ Deutsch schreiben, der Versuch unternommen, literarische Darstellungen von Migrationsdiskursen unter dem Fokus zweier extrem gegenläufiger aktueller, theoretischer Positionen zu betrachten: der „Move“ (Khanna 2021), wonach die Migration, als das „Normalitätserwartung“ und die Sesshaftigkeit als Ausnahme gilt. Zum anderen geht es um die Solastalgie als das „Heimweg ohne Exil“. Beide Werke machen darauf aufmerksam, dass in einer globalisierten und sich immer stärker vernetzenden Welt die eigene Umgebung selbst zur Fremde mutiert, sodass als einzige Möglichkeit bleibt, unterwegs. also on the move, zu bleiben.
    Using the examples of two works of Central European authors (a female and a male) who write in German as in their „non-native-language“ the article tries to point out attempts to interpretate literary reprensentations of special miogration discourses under the focus oft two extremely opposing current theoretical positions: the „move“ (Khanna 2021) according to which migration as an expectation of normality and sedentary life would be he exception today. On the other hand the „solastalgy“ (Morizont 2019) as the way of „home with no exile“. Both works raise awareness for that in a globalized and increasinly world one´own environment is mutating into something foreign, so that the only oportunity would be to sty on the move.
