Opis:
Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) are based on connected and dedicated sensor nodes for patient monitoring in the healthcare sector. The sensor nodes are implanted inside or outside the patient’s body for sensing the vital signs and transmitting the sensed data to the end devices for decision-making. These sensor nodes use advanced communication technologies for data communication. However, they have limited capabilities in terms of computation power, battery life, storage, and memory, and these constraints make networks more vulnerable to security breaches and routing challenges. Important and sensitive information is exchanged over an unsecured channel in the network. Several devices are involved in handling the data in WBANs, including sink nodes, coordinator, or gateway nodes. Many cryptographic schemes have been introduced to ensure security in WBANs by using traditional confidentiality and key-sharing strategies. However, these techniques are not suitable for limited resource-based sensor nodes. In this paper, we propose a Lightweight Hybrid Cryptography Algorithm (LWHCA) that uses cryptographicbased techniques for WBAN networks to improve network security, minimize network overhead and delay issues, and improve the healthcare monitoring processes. The proposed solution is evaluated in a simulation scenario and compared with state-of-the-art schemes in terms of energy consumption, and ciphertext size.

This study proposes the LoRa-Based Mesh Sensor Network without relying on LoRaWAN connection sending the communication data in the form of Star-to-Star, it can be sends the data in the form of peer-to-peer without the gateway. In the case that a longer distance is needed, the system is connected by a means of multi-hop presenting the hardware and software model through the use of low voltage power. Then, the testing is done using point to point and the received signal is measured by a gauge and compared with the model in accordance with the theoretical principle.

Opis:
Most of the wireless sensor networks (WSNs) used in healthcare and security sectors are affected by the battery constraints, which cause a low network lifetime problem and prevents these networks from achieving their maximum performance. It is anticipated that by combining fuzzy logic (FL) approximation reasoning approach with WSN, the complex behavior of WSN will be easier to handle. In healthcare, WSNs are used to track activities of daily living (ADL) and collect data for longitudinal studies. It is easy to understand how such WSNs could be used to violate people’s privacy. The main aim of this research is to address the issues associated with battery constraints for WSN and resolve these issues. Such an algorithm could be successfully applied to environmental monitoring for healthcare systems where a dense sensor network is required and the stability period should be high.

Localization is one of the oldest mathematical and technical problems that have been at the forefront of research and development for decades. In a wireless sensor network (WSN), nodes are not able to recognize their position. To solve this problem, studies have been done on algorithms to achieve accurate estimation of nodes in WSNs. In this paper, we present an improvement of a localization algorithm namely Gaussian mixture semi-definite programming (GM-SDP-2). GMSDP is based on the received signal strength (RSS) to achieve a maximum likelihood location estimator. The improvement lies in the placement of anchors through the Fuzzy C-Means clustering method where the cluster centers represent the anchors’ positions. The simulation of the algorithm is done in Matlab and is based on two evaluation metrics, namely normalized root-mean-squared error (RMSE) and cumulative distribution function (CDF). Simulation results show that our improved algorithm achieves better performance compared to those using a predetermined placement of anchors.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are ad hoc and self-configuring networks having the possibility that any sensor node can connect or leave the network. With no central controller in WSN, wireless sensor nodes are considered responsible for data routing in the networks. The wireless sensor nodes are very small in size and have limited resources, therefore, it becomes difficult to recharge or replace the battery of the sensor nodes at far places. Wireless acoustic sensor networks (WASN) usually demand uninterrupted and reliable data transmissions and an efficient path from the source nodes to the destination nodes, thus ensuring reliable delivery of sensitive or critical data with the use of multipath routing protocols. This paper presents a novel agent-driven WASN relying on a set of static and mobile agents. In the proposed technique, the location address is functioned into the operating node and the destination node. Calculations of the midpoint between the operating and the destination nodes are followed by identifying the shortest path based on a reference axis, using a mobile agent and a location address. Such an approach aims to ensure maximum utilization of the communicating paths. Based on the information concerning partial topology of the network, the destination node computes the weight factor and multiple paths using node distances, energy ratios and efficiencies of specific links. Then, the destination node selects the appropriate path from the multiple paths available, to transmit the data. This article also analyzes the performance of the proposed system with various parameters taken into consideration and shows its efficiency in comparison to other existing techniques.

Urban noise is a main component in the deterioration of life quality for people in urban areas. This problem mainly affects those who periodically travel through high traffic areas. The first step in reducing environmental noise is to characterize the urban setting with acoustic metrology for its diagnosis and control. This document exposes the design, construction and characterization of a wireless urban noise measurement module. The device works as a low-cost node with the capacity to be replicated for the deployment of a network of wireless acoustic sensors that allows the elaboration of dynamic urban noise maps. Each module consists of an electrical autonomy system, a single board computer and a MEMS microphone. The project also includes the design of a web portal to display measurement results in real time. The low-cost system was calibrated and compared with a class 1 sound level meter used to measure urban noise in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA). Global differences of less than 1 dB were obtained. Urban noise was measured near the National University of Tres de Febrero following guidelines of ISO 1996-2 standard. The performance obtained in the evaluation instance and the results of the comparison were satisfactory.

In a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, the attacker gains control of many network users through a virus. Then the controlled users send many requests to a victim, leading to its resources being depleted. DDoS attacks are hard to defend because of their distributed nature, large scale and various attack techniques. One possible mode of defense is to place sensors in a network that can detect and stop an unwanted request. However, such sensors are expensive, as a result of which there is a natural question as to the minimum number of sensors and their optimal placement required to get the necessary level of safety. Presented below are two mixed integer models for optimal sensor placement against DDoS attacks. Both models lead to a trade-off between the number of deployed sensors and the volume of uncontrolled flow. Since the above placement problems are NP-hard, two efficient heuristics are designed, implemented and compared experimentally with exact mixed integer linear programming solvers.

Thousands of low-power micro sensors make up Wireless Sensor Networks, and its principal role is to detect and report specified events to a base station. Due to bounded battery power these nodes are having very limited memory and processing capacity. Since battery replacement or recharge in sensor nodes is nearly impossible, power consumption becomes one of the most important design considerations in WSN. So one of the most important requirements in WSN is to increase battery life and network life time. Seeing as data transmission and reception consume the most energy, it’s critical to develop a routing protocol that addresses the WSN’s major problem. When it comes to sending aggregated data to the sink, hierarchical routing is critical. This research concentrates on a cluster head election system that rotates the cluster head role among nodes with greater energy levels than the others.We used a combination of LEACH and deep learning to extend the network life of the WSN in this study. In this proposed method, cluster head selection has been performed by Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The comparison has been done between the proposed solution and LEACH, which shows the proposed solution increases the network lifetime and throughput.

A new method of lossless Secure Data Aggregation for Wireless Sensor Network is presented. Secure Data Aggregation is achieved using the popular Chinese Remainder theorem. Here, an ‘Augmented Chinese Remainder System’ is introduced that incorporates additional features to enforce a higher level of security to the aggregated data. The scheme provides inbuilt signature verification and eliminates the need for separate data validation algorithms. The method achieves data integrity and authentication simultaneously in addition to lossless data aggregation for the data forwarded from the Cluster Head to the Base Station. The aggregate contains the entire individual data from sensors in the encrypted form and the receiver deaggregates it to get the original data in full without any loss. The Augmented Chinese Remainder System can be extended to secure Multi-level Data Aggregation for WSN.

Artykuł koncentruje się na dostępnych urządzeniach wykorzystywanych w sieciach sensorowych do badania parametrów życiowych człowieka, a także wiedzy dotyczącej sensorów i ich wrażliwości na zakłócenia elektromagnetyczne. Przedstawiono podstawowe pojęcia opisujące badaną problematykę, które pozwalają na jej zrozumienie. Dodatkowo wskazano na wymagania dotyczące implementacji sieci sensorowej według wymagań służb. Pozwoli to na zobrazowanie problematyki dotyczącej opracowania uniwersalnej sieci sensorowej podwyższającej bezpieczeństwo żołnierza na polu walki. Należy mieć również na uwadze, że przy docelowej implementacji konieczne będzie przeprowadzenie dodatkowych badań w utrudnionych warunkach ze względu na promieniowanie elektromagnetyczne.
The article deals with the currently available devices used in sensor networks to examine human vital signs and the available knowledge about sensors and their sensitivity to electromagnetic interference. The article contains the basic concepts describing the studied issues that allow us to understand the being researched scientific field. In addition, it contains requirements for the implementation of the sensor network for the requirements of the services. This will allow you to illustrate the issues related to the development of a universal sensor network that increases the security of a soldier on the battlefield. It should also be borne in mind that with the final implementation it will also be necessary to carry out additional tests in difficult environments due to electromagnetic radiation.

This research study intends to develop an online tool condition monitoring system and to examine scientifically the effect of machining parameters on quality measures during machining SAE 1015 steel. it is accomplished by adopting a novel microflown sound sensor which is capable of acquiring sound signals. The dry turning experiments were performed by employing uncoated, TiAlN, TiAlN/WC-C coated inserts. The optimal cutting conditions and their influence on flank wear were determined and predicted value has been validated through confirmation experiment. During machining, sound signals were acquired using Ni DAQ card and statistical analysis of raw data has been performed. Kurtosis and I-Kaz coefficient was determined systematically. The correlation between flank wear and I-Kaz coefficient was established, which fits into power-law curve. The neural network model was trained and developed with least error (3.7603e-5). It reveals that the developed neural network can be effectively utilized with minimal error for online monitoring.

The recent decades have seen the growth in the fields of wireless communication technologies, which has made it possible to produce components with a rational cost of a few cubic millimeters of volume, called sensors. The collaboration of many of these wireless sensors with a basic base station gives birth to a network of wireless sensors. The latter faces numerous problems related to application requirements and the inadequate abilities of sensor nodes, particularly in terms of energy. In order to integrate the different models describing the characteristics of the nodes of a WSN, this paper presents the topological organization strategies to structure its communication. For large networks, partitioning into sub-networks (clusters) is a technique used to reduce consumption, improve network stability and facilitate scalability.

Wireless sensor network is a dynamic field of networking and communication because of its increasing demand in critical Industrial and Robotics applications. Clustering is the technique mainly used in the WSN to deal with large load density for efficient energy conservation. Formation of number of duplicate clusters in the clustering algorithm decreases the throughput and network lifetime of WSN. To deal with this problem, advance distributive energy-efficient adaptive clustering protocol with sleep/wake scheduling algorithm (DEACP-S/W) for the selection of optimal cluster head is presented in this paper. The presented sleep/wake cluster head scheduling along with distributive adaptive clustering protocol helps in reducing the transmission delay by properly balancing of load among nodes. The performance of algorithm is evaluated on the basis of network lifetime, throughput, average residual energy, packet delivered to the base station (BS) and CH of nodes. The results are compared with standard LEACH and DEACP protocols and it is observed that the proposed protocol performs better than existing algorithms. Throughput is improved by 8.1% over LEACH and by 2.7% over DEACP. Average residual energy is increased by 6.4% over LEACH and by 4% over DEACP. Also, the network is operable for nearly 33% more rounds compared to these reference algorithms which ultimately results in increasing lifetime of the Wireless Sensor Network.
