Opis:
Computers are becoming sufficiently powerful to permit to numerically solve problems such as the wave equation with high-order methods. In this article we will consider Lagrange finite elements of order k and show how it is possible to automatically generate the mass and stiffness matrices of any order with the help of symbolic computation software. We compare two high-order time discretizations: an explicit one using a Taylor expansion in time (a Cauchy-Kowalewski procedure) and an implicit Runge-Kutta scheme. We also construct in a systematic way a high-order quadrature which is optimal in terms of the number of points, which enables the use of mass lumping, up to P5 elements. We compare computational time and effort for several codes which are of high order in time and space and study their respective properties.

Opis:
Production of the bioceramics on the market is presently conducted from typical precipitation method by using reagent grade raw chemicals or through calcination of natural sources like animal bones (especially bovine bone) and fish bones. Usually fish bones were damped near or in the water sources, which can lead to serious environmental pollution. Those were regarded as a trash, even though they still bear economic value, including conjugates. In this study bones of Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar) were used as a bioceramic material source. Bones of Atlantic Salmon were collected from Besiktas Fish Market. Those were cleaned from possible flesh with reagent grade NaOH. Cleaned parts were washed with demineralized water very neatly. Dry fish bones were calcinated at 850°C for 4 hours. The obtained hydroxyapatite material was characterized with scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction methods. It was found that the bioceramic material consisted of hydroxyapatite and various related phases. Scanning electron microscopy studies have revealed nano-structured bioceramic particles. The aim of this study is to obtain nano-structured bioceramics from bones of Atlantic Salmon in an environmentally friendly and economic way.

Opis:
A survey of the modern theories of explanation leads us to conclude that it is J. Woodward's conterfactual approach that seems to set out a promising agenda for setting up a satisfactory model of explanation. Such a model would need to come to terms with two stipulations, i.e. to reflect causal asymmetry and be empirically adequate. To meet the latter I modify the counterfactual model of explanation to require a class of observationally equivalent (Bayesian) causal models instead of the true causal model. For in most cases empirical adequacy of causal models, i.e. their identifiability and consistency with observed distributions, would neither grant the stronger conclusion Woodward embeds in his conterfactual account of explanation nor license metaphysical naturalism.
