Opis:
This paper is a proposition of implementation an amendment to the existing classic definition of degradation described the by Kachanov-Robotnov model. The proposed model allows to determine the rate of degradation the material structure in an independent verified corrosive environment and determining the redistribution of three-dimensional stress fields taking into account the progressive degradation. According to that purpose, the computational solid dynamics (CSD) numerical simulation of corrosion degradation performed with the mathematical model which was calibrated on the basis of an experiment has been performed by Mrowiec and Werber.

Opis:
The notion of heat uncompensated transformation has early been introduced by Clausius in 1854 and next, after fifty years of forgetting, in 1904 Duhem has revalorized it and combined it with a new notion of work uncompensated transformation [3]. In this way the so-called ClausiusDuhem inequality has been established. In our paper we wish to present a novelized procedure of estimating the role of the uncompensated transformations of heat and work within the flow of viscous and heat conducting working fluid like water stream. The original procedure was introduced by Puzyrewski and it is essential in expressing of a local, in time and space, balance of entropy. Futhermore, this unique approach leads to redefinition of the efficiency notion, as is usually applied to fluid-flow machineries, to a new one important in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) three-dimensional modeling. As a result, it is shown that usage of the polytropic efficiency, instead of the isentropic efficiency, is more convenient and seems to be natural in CFD approach. Helpfully, we have also found a correlation between those two efficiency definitions with usage of proposed new dimensionless (criterion) number.

Opis:
In this paper, 3D numerical analysis of unsteady flow forces acting on the thermowell of steam temperature sensor is presented. According to that purpose, the CFD+CSD (computational fluid–solid dynamics) approach has been used. The nonstationary of fluid acting on the thermowell such as: Strouhal frequency, amplitude of pressure, structure of vortex, peak of pressure, field of pressure, field of velocity, etc. are studied analytically and numerically. There have been examined two cases of flow with changing both temperature, pressure and mass flow rate (operating daily and night in the unit with capacity of 380 MWe). In accordance with the standards ASME PTC 19.3 TW-2010 the possibility of entry into resonance has been examined.

This paper presents the aim and realization procedures of the project EURO- ACCESS (Agroclimatic Change and European Soil Suitability, No. EV5VCT920129, CIPA3510PL923399, CIPDCT930022, CIPDCT925058, financed by EC). The project was coordinated by Dr. Peter Loveland, Soil Survey and Land Research Centre. Crarifield University, Silsoe Campus, Bedford, Great Britain. The project was conducted in 1992-1995 by scientific institutes from 6 countries, including the Institute of Agrophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Lublin. This book consists of main information about the whole project and detailed information about, tasks performed by the Institute of Agrophysics, PAS in cooperation with the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (IUNG) Puławy as well as with other European institutes. There are presented results of investigations conducted in cooperation with ADAS Land Centre, Gleadthorpe Research Centre, Meden Vale, Mansfield, Great Britain, (Chapt. 2: Modelling of water movement in the soil profile with the preferential flow influence.), Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, Lublin, Poland (Chapter 3: The method of rainfall intensity estimation for runoff prediction), INRA Montpellier, Prance and IUNG Puławy, Poland (Chapter 4: Verification of yield prediction model using soil and climatic data). The basic task of EURO-ACCESSS project was the model and program development for prediction of climate change influence onto potential yield of important crops. The climatic and physiological properties are assumed to be known. In hydrological submodel developed in ADAS, Mansfield, there was Richards one dimensional flow model assumed. In order to include heterogeneity of the soil the submodel of bypass flow was created by IA PAS and included into existing one dimensional flow procedure. The horizontal infiltration submodel is based on Green- Ampt simplified flow model. It plays role of source and/or sink term within the Richards procedure and accounts for the bypass flow of water from the surface to the deeper layers of the soil profile. The model has been verified in the laboratory conditions, on the basis of numerical experiments and in the field condition. Laboratory flow experiment with induced cracks shows the possibility of explanation of bypass flow with developed procedure. Numerical experiment shows ade- quateness of proposed crack and inaeropore description to the field data. The model allows easily estimate macropore parameters from the simple measurements at the soil surface or from the profile cross-section. The calibration of the model on the basis of measured data consisting soil moistures at different depths and precipitation data, soil hydraulic properties and évapotranspiration data, shows better agreement with the bypass flow model included. The main problem was to estimate momentary rain intensity from the daily precipitation data available. This was done using the statistical model of the rain intensity distribution. The momentary rain intensity plays major role in the runoff estimation. On the basis of long term (1982-1993) historical precipitation, climatic and yield data collected in IUNG Puławy, the whole EURO-ACCESS II has been verified. The plant submodel based on EPIC model was modified and suited to European conditions by INRA, Montpellier. The whole verification was conducted on the basis of daily climatic data. The error analysis shows that, during 1985-1990 period when model was calibrated estimated yield error was 22,5%-, for the period 1984 and 1991 1993 where model was verified the yield error was 8.0%. For the whole period of simulation the error was 15.3%.

Opis:
The depletion of the conventional energy sources, as well as the degradation and pollution of the environment by the exploitation of fossil fuels caused the development of renewable energy sources (RES), including biomass. In Poland, biomass is the most popular renewable energy source, which is closely related to the obligations associated with the membership in the EU. Biomass is the oldest renewable energy source, and its potential, diversity and polymorphism place it over other sources. Besides, the improvement in its parameters, including an increase in its calorific value, resulted in increasing use of biomass as energy source. In the electric power industry biomass is applied in the process of co-combustion with coal. This process may contribute, inter alia, to the reduction in the emissions of carbon, nitrogen and sulfur oxides. The article presents the characteristics of the biomass burned in power boilers of one of the largest Polish power plants, located in Opole Province (Southern Poland). Besides, the impact of biomass on the installation of co-combustion, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the co-combustion process not only in technological, but also environmental, economic and social aspects were described.

Opis:
The paper deals with the analysis of deformation of a rivet hole in a riveted joint after the manual dynamic riveting process. For many years, riveting remains a traditional and the most popular method ofjoining in aircraft structures. The residual stress and strain state appear at the rivet hole after the riveting process, which improves the joint's fatigue behaviour. The local finite element models are made with Patran. The rivet and sheets are described using eight-noded, three-dimensional brick elements. The riveting tools consist of four-noded, two-dimensional shell elements. Numerical FE simulations of the upsetting process are carried out using the Ls-Dyna code. The contact with friction is defined between the collaborating parts of the specimen. The results of simulations of the dynamic riveting process of a mushroom rivet with and without a compensator are compared in this paper. Hole deformation of the upper and lower sheet, squeezing force, as well as deformations of the rivet head are analysed. The influence of the compensator on strain and displacement states is studied. Simulation shows that some technological factors may have positive influence on the residual stress fields. Using the rivet with a compensator results in a better rivet hole filling capability. The rivet hole displacement in upper and lower sheets are at the same level. Paper also present manual dynamic riveting process of reverse and standard riveting procedure and model of riveted specimen.

Opis:
The database of Polish arable mineral soils is presented. The database includes a lot of information about the basic properties of soils and their dynamic characteristics. It was elaborated for about 1 000 representative profiles of soils in Poland The database concerns: particle size distribution, organic carbon content, acidity-pH, specific surface area, hydrophobicity – solidliquid contact angle, static and dynamic hydrophysical properties, oxidation-reduction properties and selected biological (microbiological) properties of soils. Knowledge about soil characteristics is indispensable for description, interpretation and prediction of the course of physical, chemical and biological processes, and modelling these processes requires representative data. The utility of simulation and prediction models describing phenomena which take place in the soil-plant-atmosphere system greatly depends on the precision of data concerning characteristics of soil. On the basis of this database, maps of chosen soil properties are constructed. The aim of maps is to provide specialists in agriculture, ecology, and environment protection with an opportunity to gain knowledge of soil properties and their spatial and seasonal variability.

Opis:
The paper presents general characteristics of resources and outputs of agriculture in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Lubelskie Regions, based on statistical databases and literature review. Some specific features of the regions, with special consideration for the predicted extreme climate changes, are also included. Next, some statistically significant dependencies between the climatic parameters and yields of selected important crops in the abovementioned regions were worked out on the basis of empirical survey conducted in the University of Technology and Life Sciences, Bydgoszcz, and the Institute of Agrophysics in Lublin. Creating an appropriate method of forecasting long series of ten days without precipitation was necessary to find the desired dependencies. Third, some efforts were taken to make integrated assessments of forecast agricultural outputs influenced by climate extreme phenomena on the basis of the yield-precipitation relations obtained and on the data coming from wide area model regional outputs such as prices of farmland and produce.
W pracy przedstawiono ogólną charakterystykę zasobów rolnych w województwach kujawsko-pomorskim i lubelskim, oszacowanych na podstawie baz danych statystycznych i przeglądu literatury.
