Celem zaprezentowanych w artykule badań było scharakteryzowanie zjawiska sezonowości zapotrzebowania na węgiel kamienny w Polsce. W tym celu posłużono się procedurą X-12-ARIMA. W wyniku przeprowadzonej analizy uzyskano składowe szeregu czasowego oraz prognozę zapotrzebowania na węgiel kamienny na dwanaście miesięcy. Zaproponowano także możliwe do zastosowania strategie wydobycia węgla kamiennego oraz procedurę wyboru optymalnej strategii.
The article presents seasonality of the hard coal demand in Poland. For this purpose, the X-12-ARIMA procedure was used. As a result of the analysis the components of the hard coal demand time series were obtained. A 12-month demand forecast was also constructed. The authors also proposed the coal production strategies possible to apply and a procedure for selection of the optimal strategy.

The purpose of this paper is to attract attention to the extent of mobbing, especially in the public sector and to its destructive character. Mobbing reduces the value of human capital because of incurred psychological and health losses. It influences innovation negatively and in consequence leads to lowering the effectiveness of an organization. Negative effects of mobbing may be also seen in the social and individual dimensions. According to Heinz Leymann, abandoning moral norms, wrongly comprehended tolerance are creating a climate for practising different forms of hidden violence and psychical terror. Psychological war of this kind in workplace involves the abuse of power and manipulation. Once it has appeared, it is – as put by M.F. Hirigoyen – like a machine, which set in motion, may smash everything on its way. This asymmetric and destructive interaction can only keep strengthening unless someone from the outside intervenes decisively. Yet, the introduction of the notion of mobbing to labour code does not provide sufficient protection from mobbing in workplace – regulations leave too wide, unfilled space which needs to be filled up with concrete solutions and measures. On one hand, action taken by an organization should have a formal, administrative and organizational character. On the other hand, it should take into account the ethical sphere of an organization’s functioning. It should put special emphasis on the maintenance and the development of integrity, one of the most important dimensions of the conception of trust.

The paper is the third one from the series of three papers that the Authors dedicate to the freight fleet management topic. The paper presents five examples of the application of quantitative (optimization) methods to selected fleet management problems. The following fleet management problems are considered: Make or Buy problem, fleet sizing/composition problem, vehicle replacement problem, assignment of vehicles to transportation tusks, and the VRP. All the selected problems are carefully defined. Moreover, input and output data (obtained solutions) are presented, including optimal solutions compared to random ones.

The paper is the second one from the series of three papers that the Authors dedicate to the freight fleet management topic. The paper presents five quantitative (optimization) methods of solving selected fleet management problems. All the selected management problems are carefully defined and dedicated to them solution methods are roughly characterized, as well. Mathematical models of the selected problems are presented in details, including: the linear model of a Make or Buy problem, the non-linear model of a fleet sizing / composition problem, the linear model of a replacement problem including discounting aspect, the linear model of an assignment of drivers / vehicles to transportation tusks, and the linear, graph theory based model of a VRP problem. The paper will be continued in a next one dedicated to fleet management case studies.

Fleets constitute the most important production mean in the transportation industry. Their appropriate management is crucial for the whole branch. The paper is the first one from the series of three papers that the Authors dedicate to the freight fleet management topic. The paper presents the essence and the scope of the freight fleet management. The topic is discussed against a broader background of the general management theory and the situation of freight vehicles in Poland over the last years. The changes to the freight fleet structure that occurred within the years 2004-2011 are presented and carefully discussed. Moreover, the general management and the fleet management especially, including their levels and areas, are defined. The literature review on fleet management is presented as well. And finally, Authors’ own research defining the scope of the fleet management is presented based on the survey of real-life posts and attributed to them tasks. As a result the list of typical fleet management decision problems broken down into management levels and areas has been developed. The paper will be continued in two further papers dedicated to fleet management methods and fleet management case studies.

Brand should define a company to create a sense of luxury and value for every customer, employee or owner. Should be energy, whose leading to changes that will provide extraordinary results. A better fit to the needs, preferences and expectations will allow the company to achieve success.

The article was written by me and my students from the Faculty of Psychology and Humanities Academy of Krakow. Senior Clubs are a very good example of social capital as a network of social relationships between individuals who trust each other and have a reciprocal. People in the network tend to mutually support each other, help and exchange important information. Thanks to the participation in the Senior Clubs can contribute actively to prevent a serious threat occurring at the senior age, which is depression. According to the WHO, it is the fourth most serious health problem in the world, which are often the source of a signifi cant deterioration in mental functioning, physical and social disability, and suicide attempts. Depression in the elderly is more dependent on environmental factors than younger people. While younger people family burden found in about 80% in the elderly is at about 44%. This means that the depression at the senior age is much more driven by the social rather than biological factors compared with younger age groups. This also means that it is easier to prevent and treat using these social factors. One of the main causes of depression in the elderly is the depletion interaction with the environment, and reduced activity. Therefore, it is important to stimulate the activation of such persons, thereby reducing the risk of depression. Recent psychological research indicates a strong relationship of friendship with happiness and the length and quality of life. Friendship improves happiness through the creation of social support and a sense of belonging. The aim of our research presented in this article was to test the hypothesis that individuals who actively participate in the Senior Club are less depressed than those who do not participate. Our team conducted empirical research presented in this paper, allowed to confirm this hypothesis. Activity in the Senior Club provides activities, involvement and support of mental health, which may significantly prevent the development of depression. Of course, it is also probably the case that those who are already at risk of suffering from depression or her less likely to participate in the activities of the Senior Citizens Clubs. It is often associated with passivity, apathy and withdrawal from the social environment, and so often associated with symptoms of depression. However, even in such a situation, the primary treatment, usually bringing more interest in the world and people should encourage such people to actively participate in senior clubs. It is then treated as a kind of social therapy. Social and cultural activity in old age is a factor in increasing the quality of life, serving mental and physical health, increasing the level of happiness and reducing the level of suffering.

The paper presents three examples of application of geophysical surveys carried out by the PBG Ltd. for the recognition of internal structure, geological background and mechanical properties of near- -surface rock medium at major landslides in the Polish Outer Carpathians. Geophysical data were used for developing an accurate geological model of the landslides. Geological features that cannot be detected by other means, e.g. faults in bedrock, and exact location and shape of the shear plane were delineated in two-dimensional mode on the sections.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań tribologicznych pary trącej „głowa-panewka”, stanowiącej układ ruchowy endoprotezy stawu biodrowego, o średnicy ?28 mm. W badaniach uSyto głowę wykonaną ze stopu CoCrMo oraz panewkę UHMWPE z powłoką C-C wykonaną w Instytucie Fizyki Jądrowej PAN w Krakowie. Badania prowadzono w Laboratorium Inżynierii Powierzchni i Tribologii Instytutu Obróbki Plastycznej w Poznaniu z wykorzystaniem symulatora SBT-01. Przeprowadzono badania momentu tarcia, siły docisku, wartości temperatury styku oraz zużycia elementów endoprotezy o średnicy 28 mm i porównano z wynikami pary trącej: głowa CoCrMo oraz panewka UHMWPE bez powłoki uformowanej jonowo. Podano i omówiono wyniki badań.
The article presents results of tribological tests for 28 mm head-cup friction couple, which is the motion system of the hip endoprosthesis. In the studies femoral head made of CoCrMo alloy and polyethylene acetabular cup with C-C coating made in Institute of Nuclear Physics of Polish Academy of Science were applied. Investigations were performed in Laboratory of Surface Engineering and Tribology in Metal Forming Institute in Poznan using SBT-01 simulator. Friction moment, contact force, joint temperature and o 28 mm friction elements wear were investigated. This results was compared to results of friction couple: CoCrMo femoral head and UHMWPE acetabular cup without ion formed coating. There are presented and discussed investigations results.
