Opis:
Separation among rubidium and potassium ions from salt lake brines remains challenging. In this work, a typical room temperature ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-metyhlimidazaolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([C2mim+][NTf2-]) was used as diluent and synergistic extractant, dicyclohexano-18-crown-6 (DCH18C6) was used as extractant to extract rubidium ions from brine solutions which contain high concentrations of potassium ions was investigated. Under the optimal conditions, the single extraction efficiency of rubidium ions was up 93.63%. The thermodynamic parameters of the rubidium ion extraction were obtained. Based on the slope analysis method, the extracted species in the organic phase were ascertained as 1:1 complex. UV-visible has been performed to investigate the ion concentration of ionic liquid before and after the interaction of metal ions and ligands. Rubidium ions in [Rb · DCH18C6]+ complex were stripped by 2.5 mol · L–1 NH4NO3. The extraction system offers high efficiency, simplicity and environmentally friendly application prospect to separate rubidium from brine solutions.

Application of 1-butyl-3-metyhlimidazaolium hexafl uorophosphate ([C4mim][PF6 ]), in the extraction of rubidium and cesium from brine solutions using 1,4,7,10,13,16-hexaoxacyclooctadecane (18C6) as extractant was investigated. Parameters that affect the extraction including pH of aqueous phase, equilibration time, dosage of the ionic liquid, phase ratio, concentration of 18C6 were studied. Under the optimal conditions, the single extraction effi ciency of rubidium ions and cesium ions were up 84.11% and 94.99%, respectively. The stripping of alkali metal ions from the loaded organic phase with different stripping agents and concentrations were also investigated. The initial value of the K/Cs and K/Rb ratios were 93.0 and 104.3, respectively, which have dropped 91.21% and 88.01%, respectively, after the extraction and stripping experiments. It was taken a big step in the separation and enrichment of cesium (rubidium) ion and potassium ion. The extraction mechanism was revealed most likely to be a cation exchange mode in this system.

Opis:
The rates of excitations and decays induced by blackbody radiation were calculated in the single-electron Fues' model potential approach for states up to n = 100 in rubidium s-, p- and d-series. On the basis of the calculations, general regularities for maxima rates of blackbody radiation induced decays and excitations were ascertained and a simple polynomial-based approximation formula was proposed for blackbody radiation induced decay and excitation rates of Rydberg states. A temperature parameterization for T = 50-1500 K was also proposed and respective matrices of coefficients were calculated.

Opis:
The paper deals with newly investigated temperature-and-spectrum dependences of principal birefringences (Δ $n_{i}$(λ,T)-i=X, Y, Z; λ=250÷850 nm; T = 4.2-1100 K), and temperature dependence of the optic-axial angle (2V(T) - T=4.2-1100 K) for two laser lines 632.8 nm and 441.1 nm of $Rb_{2}SO_{4}$ crystals. Based on the temperature dependence of the optic-axial angle, the second point of birefringence sign inversion has been found. Newly obtained is the temperature-and-spectrum diagram of the uniaxial state of the optical indicatrix at the "isotropic points" and in the hexagonal phase of $Rb_{2}SO_{4}$. Based on the temperature behavior of the birefringence and optic-axial angle it was supposed that hexagonal-orthorhombic phase transition in rubidium sulfate can be a second-order phase transition. Found is the inversion of birefringence dispersion in the X and Y directions at 400 K and 620 K, respectively.

We analyse the three-colour electromagnetically induced transparency for the D$\text{}_{1}$ transition in cold $\text{}^{87}$Rb atoms. We report an enhancement of the electromagnetically induced emission of a drive field as an exclusive enhancement of the third- and fourth-rank components of the density matrix. Moreover, the gain experienced by the drive field is attributed to the influence of the quantum switching effect on the increased absorption of the probe field. The electromagnetically induced emission effect is employed to generate slow light Gaussian-wave trains with shape preserving. These soliton trains were not only generated in the drive channel as has been designated but also in the switch channel which reveals multiple-light storage phenomenon.

As well as earlier for Na and K, the results obtained are found to be in reasonable agreement with the available experimental data and confirm previous conclusion that the square-well model within the mean spherical approximation is quite useful for description of diffusion properties in liquid alkali metals.

Opis:
The transmission characteristics for 85Rb and 87Rb laser-induced dichroism atomic filters operating on rubidium D1 lines (795 nm) transitions are analyzed. By means of semiclassical density matrix equations of motion, a three-level model for the transmission characteristics of the ground state laser-induced dichroism atomic filter is presented. Calculative results show that this filter, using two counterpropagating pump and probe beams, can obtain higher transmission, narrower bandwidth and larger tuning capability than that using two copropagating pump and probe beams; with the aid of counterpropagating pump, the 85Rb ground state laser-induced dichroism atomic filter can be more effective to achieve higher peak transmission (>34%) and larger tunability (>1 GHz) than the 87Rb ground state laser-induced dichroism atomic filter in the same operation parameters. This result may be helpful for improving peak transmission (14.6%) of Rb ground state laser-induced dichroism atomic filter reported (CERÈ A. et al., Opt. Lett. 34(7), 2009, pp. 1012–1014).

Opis:
Rubidium is an alkaline metal with exceptional chemical activity. Together with lithium, sodium, potassium and cesium, it belongs to group I of the periodic table of elements. The aim of this study was to provide data on the rubidium content in normal mammary gland tissue and adenocarcinomas and to elucidate the effects of altered homeostasis on this element in the course of mammary gland neoplastic disease in dogs. The investigation was performed to confirm the hypothesis put forward in human research that this metal is cumulated in neoplastic tumours of the mammary gland. The research material included post mortem collected healthy mammary glands of bitches and mammary gland neoplastic tumours obtained during routine surgical treatments as well as during necropsies. The content of rubidium was determined by the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) method. The highest rubidium content was observed in the tissues with neoplastic lesions, where it averaged 10.72 mg kg–1 wet mass. In the healthy tissues, the content of this metal was on a much lower level. The mean rubidium concentration in mammary glands without pathological changes was 1.91 m kg–1 wet mass. The statistical analysis showed a significant difference (P=0.01) in the rubidium content between the investigated groups. Higher rubidium concentrations were observed in the tissues with neoplastic lesions. This phenomenon is similar to disturbances of the ionic balance observed in the case of breast cancer in women.

The flowthrough was formulated in normal saline for injection. Radionuclide, radiochemical and chemical purity tests were performed prior to administration to rats for imaging (radiochemical yield: 95-97%, radiochemical purity > 97%). Preliminary dual-head coincidence studies were performed to determine the distribution of [82mRb]Rb in normal rats. For biodistribution studies, Rb-81 was injected to rats and tracer accumulation in heart, GI and bladder was determined after sacrification in time intervals. A yield of 1.3 GBq at EOB, 235.7 MBq/mAh was obtained.

First-principles density functional theory calculations have been performed to investigate the structural, elastic and thermodynamic properties of rubidium telluride in cubic anti-fluorite (anti-CaF2-type) structure. The calculated ground-state properties of Rb2Te compound such as equilibrium lattice parameter and bulk moduli are investigated by generalized gradient approximation (GGA-PBE) that are based on the optimization of total energy. The elastic constants, Young’s and shear modulus, Poisson ratio, have also been calculated. Our results are in reasonable agreement with the available theoretical and experimental data. The pressure dependence of elastic constant and thermodynamic quantities under high pressure are also calculated and discussed.
