The paper is about the arable area belonging to the nobility of the Bydgoszcz administrative unit on the basis of the recruitment register of 1583. This unit was part of the Inowrocław voivodship and embraced the territories lying near the royal town of Bydgoszcz. The territory in question was inhabited mostly by the serfs' nobility owing from a couple of settlements to one village or only its part (89 per cent of the arable acreage in the unit but only 56.5 per cent owners). Generally speaking, one may say that this nobility having several fields was rarely in possession of a dozen or so or a few dozen fields. They were not so rich in land as the owner living in the Świeck unit (within the Royal Prussia borders). The arable area which belonged to the nobility who possessed the unsettled lands was considerably smaller. Despite that they constituted a clear percentage of the nobility (over 34 per cent of owners), as a rule they possessed farms which did not extend two fields. As a result, it amounted to barely 7 per cent of the registered arable area. Some part of the nobility possessed both the serfs' and nonserfs' fields. They were, however, not numerous (somewhat more than 9 per cent of owners and 4 per cent of the total number of the registered fields). Another problem which has not been completely settled was the question of the farms belonging to the nobility. Certainly there were such within the Bydgoszcz unit. The attempts, however, that have been made in the paper to estimate their size are insufficient and call for more detailed research.

The main aim of the paper is to analyse the possibilities of using recruitment vortals on the job market in Poland. In the first part of the paper, the recruitment vortals in are characterised and categorised. Then the results of the surveys about portals are described and commented on from the point of view of the potential client and e-recruitment firm.
Zasadniczym celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza możliwości użycia wortali rekrutacyjnych na rynku pracy w Polsce. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono kategoryzację i charakterystykę wortali rekrutacyjnych. Następnie zaprezentowano badania dotyczące wortali w Polsce z punktu widzenia potencjalnego klienta oraz firm używających Internetu w procedurze rekrutacji.

Behaviour of larvae, juveniles and adults of Dreissena polymorpha in the presence of the conspecifics was investigated in field and laboratory experiments. Mussel recruitment was studied in plastic chambers containing living conspecifics, their empty shells or calcareous, mussel-sized stones. The objects were glued to the chamber bottom and covered by nylon mesh. The experiment was carried out in the channel connecting the Port Zimowy harbour with the Vistula River (Toruń, Poland). Total mussel densities in the above treatments were the same as in the empty chambers. However, the distribution of the new settlers depended on the quality of the glued objects, with the vicinity of living mussels and empty shells being preferred to stones. This suggests that mussels responded to conspecifics after settling on substrate. Migration of juvenile and adult mussels in the presence of the same stimuli was then studied in a laboratory experiment. Both groups preferred the vicinity of living conspecifics, but any kind of the firmly attached objects decreased the number of individuals leaving the substrate, compared to the flat surfaces.

The essence of the recruitment and selection in sports depends on determining an aptitude vector of the candidate to sport training. For this reason, the recruitment process may be optimized by determining possibly large amount of information on the sport level of the candidate with as small as possible number of tested characteristics, using a mathematical model based on neural networks. The main aim of this work was verification of the usefulness of neural models in optimization of the process of recruitment process, both at sprint distance of 50 m and typically endurance distance of 800 m. The material for the investigation was a group of 80 young swimmers in the youngster and junior category from the Silesian macro-region. For the purpose of verification of the usefulness of neural models, statistical analysis were made of the measurement results of young swimmers and two neural models were developed - for sprint distance (50 m) and endurance distance (800 m). The developed models, based on the architecture of perception networks, has shown capability of generalization and prediction, which has enabled to reach conclusions on practical possibility of using neural networks in optimization of the recruitment and selection process for sport swimming.

The paper presents results of a study on the response of species growing in experimental gaps in the patches dominated by Carex acutiformis, C. cespitosa and Salix cinerea. The study was performed in a meadow area subjected to the process of succession in the Reski Range in the Białowieski National Park. Four patterns of seedlings recruitment in the experimental gaps were distinguished: pattern I - great number of seedlings with high richness of species, pattern II - great number of seedlings with low richness of species, pattern III - low number of seedlings with great richness of species and pattern IV - low number of seedlings with low richness of species.

The process of recruiting new employees is of vital importance as the employees are one of the most valuable assets of a company. The article presents a model recruitment process used in a small- and medium-size company. The segment of small- and medium-size companies plays an important role in the economic development of many countries, and its role has recently been increasing in Poland, too. Additionally, types of recruitment have been discussed here, the same as the ways of hiring employees and other recruitment techniques have been presented.

In this paper, the author presents the results of his inquiry on personal management in 103 companies of Opole region. In the light of the inquiry it appears that personal connections are claimed by 51% of respondents to be important in Staff recruitment, although 88% respondents do not accept this. 96% of the inquired people are convinced that the managing board is obliged to prior inform the staff about the planned redundancy, and 57% expect essential aid from the employer to find a new job. Also, according to employees, the roles of job seniority (62%) and personal connections (44%) are important in rewarding the staff. However, the employee’s role in realizing the company’s longterm targets in rewarding the staff is seen as minor (31%). A positive aspect of personal management is that a considerable number of companies (43%) already apply assessing systems and employees accept them. Yet, we still lack modern staff assessment systems in our companies e. g. 3600.

From among three stands, situated in the lower mountain zone, and representing the association Dentario-glandulosae Fagetum, the Łopuszna I stand, being in the growing up stage and phase of selection forest, reached the highest increment (8.5 m3/ha/year, i.e. 1.3% of actual stand volume/ha measured at the end of the control period). Stands, Łopuszna II, being in the stage of an intensive break-up, and Łopuszna III, being in the stage of an initial break-up, reached smaller increments (5.4 and 6.3 m3/ha/year respectively, i.e. each 0.9% of actual stand volume/ha). The greatest tree mortality occurred in stands Łopuszna II and III (14.1 and 10.5 m3/ha/year respectively), and the smallest in the stand Łopuszna I (4.8 m3/ha/year). The knowledge about the value of mortality, recruitment, and increment, expressed in the number of trees and in volume units, may greatly help in planning the amount of cut which would secure sustainability of the forest ecosystem in the layer of trees in the economic as well as in the protection forests, under similar stand and site conditions, managed by the selection cutting permitting to realize the conception of a close-to-nature silviculture.

This paper outlines ways of workers' abilities and competence assessment used in the process of personnel recruitment. Particular importance is attached to metrology personnel evaluation. One of experimental stations developed in Institute of Metrology and Measurement Systems, Warsaw University of Technology, is described. After the process of adaptation and validation, the system could be used in order to test ability of detail-noticing in dynamic signals and pictures.

For communists in Poland, especially in 1948–1956, shaping social and political attitudes of young people, the vast majority of whom were not connected with PPR/PZPR was one of the main aims crucial for creating totalitarian system from the top. The model elaborated by Marian Spychalski assumed by the decree of February 1948 common and compulsory subordinating the youth by means of Common Organisation “Service for Poland” (PO SP) with the help of the military institutions. This was the status of labour brigades of PO SP, and until 1949 young people went for work singing “Rota” [Rota – (“Oath”) is a 20th-century Polish poem and anthem, the fi rst verse of which says “We’ll not abandon the land of our folk”]. This is the way Władysław Gomułka imagined creating new labour class. One should remember than the vast majority, that is 73% of these young people lived in the country, and before the 6-year Plan was realised, urban youth had made only 27% of the population. Statistically, the output of PO SP, which was dissolved in 1955, had been impressing. According to the offi cial data, almost 1.000.000 of youngsters worked in SP brigades, and 120 000 continued their education in vocational schools. Parents of these people associated work in SP brigades with forced labour for the Third Reich. In 1948 youngsters brought with them suitcases full of food, because it was thought that in the brigades the Lenin rule of no meals for those unable to work would be introduced. Parents as well as their children tried in both legal and illegal ways postpone recruitment to the brigades. Mass interventions of school authorities, institutions, plants, sport associations mushroomed, all these organisations were issuing releasing certifi cates without any important reason. Young people with the help of their environment escaped recruitment by changing their address or job, or just declared to pay a bribe. In the country it was popular to hide in the forest. Urban youth would rather volunteer to brigades in which their stay could be the shortest, for example to agricultural ones.

The informatical network system to calculate measurement uncertainty is described in the paper. The Fast Fourier Transform Method is applied to calculate convolution of probability density functions, which describe dispersion of errors of quantities forming measurement equation.

Opis:
Two populations of Iris sibirica, a clonal species protected by law in Poland, occurring in patches of Molinietum caeruleae, of similar floristic composition although with different dominant species, were studied. In the Stanisławice locality, species with a high competitive potential prevailed, contrary to the Opatkowice locality, where the species of low competitive potential dominated. It was established that vegetative propagation ensures the continued presence of populations in both localities, although the proximity of plants with high competitive potential limits the vegetative propagation of ramet clusters of Iris sibirica. Despite the high level of seed production, the recruitment of seedlings in both patches is possible only in artificially created gaps. The field observations support the conclusion that creating gaps allowing for germination of seeds and development of seedlings, as well as eliminating expansive neighbours allowing proliferation of ramet clusters of Iris sibirica, is an affective way of protecting populations of this species.

Natural killer (NK) cells play a major role in the initial control of many viral pathogens and in the rejection of tumors. Consistent with their roles as immune sentinels, NK cells are found in inflamed skin, including lichen planus, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis (AD) lesions. In oral lichen planus lesions, the recruitment as well as intradermal colocalization of NK cells and pDC (plasmacytoid dendritic cells) appear to be mediated by chemerin, a recently identified protein ligand for chemokine-like receptor 1 (CMKLR1), a chemoattractant receptor expressed by both cell types. Dendritic cells can regulate NK cell activity, and NK cells can regulate DC-mediated responses. Since chemerin was recently implicated in recruitment of pDC to psoriatic skin, in this work we determined whether chemerin facilitates interactions between NK and pDC in psoriatic plaques through controlling influx of NK cells to diseased skin. We demonstrate that circulating NK cells from normal donors as well as psoriasis and AD patients respond similarly in functional migration assays to chemerin. However, differences in the distribution of NK cells and pDC in skin lesions suggest that recruitment of both NK cells and pDC is unlikely to be controlled solely by chemerin.
