Opis:
The progressive development of miniature systems increases the demand for miniature parts. Reducing the size of manufactured components on one hand is a serious challenge for traditional technologies, but on the other hand, mainly by removing the energy barrier opens the possibility of using other unconventional techniques. A good example is the ultrasonic excitation of the punch during the micro-upsetting process. The anti-barreling phenomenon and dependent on the amplitude of vibrations, intensive deformation of the surface layers in contact with the tools at both ends of the sample was noted. Based on the measured strains and stresses, an increase in temperature in the extreme layers to approx. 200°C was suggested. By adopting a simplified dynamic model of the test stand, the possibility of detaching the surface of the punch from the surface of the sample was demonstrated.

Opis:
Rapid development of micro-machines, which partly needs metallic micro-parts, is nowadays a fact. A very promising way of micro-parts manufacturing is micro-blanking. For a quite complicated 2D shapes, like micro-gears, dies might be rather easy manufactured by wire-cutting. Production of micro-punches seems to be much more difficult. In this article a solution of manufacturing of micro-punches consisting of two components: punch body based on standard micro-punches and mechanically joined end – bimetallic micro-punch – is proposed. Joining process is based on the extrusion, after which a shaped end must be hardened and finally sharpened. Within this work an experimental stack-up equipped with a special measuring system and unique flexible micro-tools was developed. Simplified processes of bimetallic micro-punch manufacturing was completed as well as FEM analysis.

Opis:
The broad range applications of Ultra-Fine Grained metals is substantially limited by the lack of a welding method that allows them to be joined without losing the strong refinement of structure. From this point of view, the solid state welding processes are privileged. Friction welding tests were carried out on UFG 316L stainless steel. A joining process at high temperature activates the recrystallization, therefore the friction welding parameters were selected according to the criterion of the lowest degree of weakness due to recrystallization in the heat affected zone. In order to characterize the structure of basic material and selected areas of the obtained joint, were performed SEM, TEM and metallographic examinations in terms of hardness and range of softening of the material and tensile test. Despite the short time and relatively low welding temperature, results of the test by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy confirmed the loss of the primary ultrafine structure in the Heat Affected Zone of welded joint.

Opis:
The aim of the present work is to compare two methods of synthesis of nanocrystallline zinc oxide doped with iron oxide. The synthesis was carried out using microwave asssisted hydrothermal synthesis and traditional wet chemistry method followed by calcination. The phase composition of the samples was determined using X-ray diffraction measurements. Depending on the chemical composition of the samples, hexagonal ZnO, and/or cubic $ZnFe_{2}O_{4}$ were identified. The morphology of the received materials was characterized using scanning electron microscopy. Two different structures of agglomerates were observed: a hexagonal structure (corresponding to zinc oxide) and spherical (corresponding to spinel phase). The effect of the iron oxide concentration on specific surface area and density of the samples was determined.

Opis:
Photoluminescence studies of zinc oxide nanowires produced by a carbo-thermal method on a nickel foil substrate are reported. Two types of as-grown samples: the first - containing only buffer film, and the second - containing both zinc oxide nanowires and buffer film grown in the same technological process, were investigated by means of the temperature-dependent photoluminescence. X-ray diffraction measurements of buffer film show that it is polycrystalline and is composed from wurtzite-type ZnO (main phase) and includes minority phases: rock salt type (Ni,Zn)O and hexagonal C₃N₄. The shape of the apparently monocrystalline nanowires is characterized by hexagonal section matching with the expectations of the hexagonal ZnO structure. The presence of LO-phonon replicas in photoluminescence spectra for the second sample is used as an argument for confirmation that ZnO nanowires are single crystalline. The method of growth of ZnO nanowires on nickel oxide opens perspectives to produce $Zn_{1-x}Ni_{x}O$ diluted magnetic semiconductor nanowires.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to obtain nanometric zinc-alumina spinel in a stop-flow reactor with microwave emission. The water solution of zinc and aluminium nitrates was used as a reaction substrate. The mole ratio of Al:Zn = 2:1. A 2M water solution of potassium hydroxide was used as mineraliser. The process was carried out under the pressure of 3.9 MPa for 15, 30 and 60 min. The obtained product had grains of about 6 nm, determined on the basis of the specific surface area and density measurements, observed using SEM and TEM microscopes. According to XRD analysis, a pure phase of Al-Zn spinel was obtained for optimum reaction time of 30 min. The specific surface area measured using BET method was in the range of 230-270 m2/g. For the first time a nanocrystalline zinc aluminate spinel of high specific surface area and high phase purity was obtained in a stop flow microwave solvothermal reactor.
Otrzymano produkt o rozmiarze ziaren około 6 nm. Rozmiar ziaren określono z wykorzystaniem pomiarów powierzchni właściwej i gęstości oraz obserwacji wykonywanych z użyciem mikroskopów SEM i TEM. Przepro-wadzona analiza XRD wykazała, że czystą fazę Al-Zn uzyskano dla czasu reakcji wynoszącego 30 minut. Powierzchnia właściwa, określona metodą BET, zawierała się w zakresie 230-270 m2/g. Po raz pierwszy uzyskano, w reaktorze mikrofalowym typu stop-flow, nanokrystaliczny spinel cynkowo-aluminiowy o dużej powierzchni właściwej i dużej czystości fazowej.

Opis:
Catalytically enhanced growth of ZnMnTe diluted magnetic semiconductor nanowires by molecular beam epitaxy is reported. The growth is based on the vapor-liquid-solid mechanism and was performed on (001) and (011)-oriented GaAs substrates from elemental sources. X-ray diffractometry, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and Raman scattering were performed to determine the structure of nanowires, their chemical composition, and morphology. These studies revealed that the obtained ZnMnTe nanowires possess zinc-blende structure, have an average diameter of about 30 nm, typical length between 1 and 2μm and that Mn$\text{}^{2+}$ ions were incorporated into substitutional sites of the ZnTe crystal lattice.
