The article explores the polarisation within the body of twentieth century criti-cism surrounding Samuel Beckett’s work: A polarisation between strict forma-list approaches which tend to see Beckett as very much part of a modernist tradition and poststructuralist theorists who seek to categorise his work in terms of postmodernism. As an unfortunate result of extreme critical standpoints, the philosophical thinking of Schopenhauer, which had such a profound and lasting influence on both Beckett’s approach to writing as well as to the theatre, has been largely ignored or simply pushed to one side.

Does anyone need the rhetorical theory of literature? The new various directions of the literary research are continiously appearing. Together with them, new perspectives of the research of the literary texts are opening up. They allow to ask questions concerning the language generated by them, with the use of which they shape the literary discourse. Being aware of the consequences of the linguistic shift for the research on culture, today the rethorical viewpoint in the conduct of the theoretical discourse is adopted. At the same time, the attention is paid to the phrases, style, as well as the metaphors used in the current literary research. The entire reflection is accompanied by the comparative spirit, that is, a certain transdisciplinary openness, which calls for abandoning the internal literary field by the theoretical research, and entering the wide field of the culture research. This process is especially visible in the new theoretical-literary directions (cognitive humanities, constructivism, affective theory of literature etc.) and enables to assign to the comparative literature the role of a binder of the taken discourse on the border between theory and rethorics.

Poststructuralism in Russian Literary Theory after 1991"Against the background of the constraints of Soviet legacy, the paper concentrates on contemporary, post-Soviet tendencies in literary studies in Russia, and especially on poststructuralism. Four dominant trends within post-Soviet literary theory are distinguished: semiotics, traditional literary studies (including historical and theoretical poetics, textual studies drawing from structuralism, narratology, comparative studies and Bakhtin’s theory), “new religiosity” and, finally, poststructuralism and cultural studies inspired by Western influences, but adapted to the Russian context. The latter developments are discussed in the paper in greater detail.

Aim.The postmodernism manifested itself in the second half of the 20th century. The branch of postmodernism is poststructuralism - in fact, it was called French poststructuralism, with the dominant philosophy being “68 philosophy” (Marshall, 2004). In that period, alongside influential works such as Derrida “On Grammatology” (1968), M. Foulcalt “The Madness and Civilization” (1967), J. Kristeva “Semiotics” (1969) emerged and Deleuze, Guattari personalities. According to the Eurydice study, 9 out of 10 students in the European Union study English. Students can learn English not only in formal but also in non-formal and informal forms.  This enables the development of rhizomatic learning, which origins lie in Deleuze, Guattari (2004) philosophy.  Thus, the problem – related question arises: what is the essence of rhizomatic learning from a perspective of poststructuralism? The aim of the study is to review theoretical considerations in order to reveal the essence of rhizomatic learning from a perspective of poststructuralism. Method.The research method – a scientific literature review. The literature review examines relevant, current, and recent literature (Grant & Booth, 2009). The literature review is based on philosophical and educational insights. The following sources have been selected for the analysis of rhizomatic learning of English: 1) philosophical and educational books that help to reveal the essence of rhizomatic learning; 2) publications and dissertations on the issue of rhizomatic learning, which helped to analyse the essence of rhizomatic learning from a perspective of poststructuralism. Results. The antecedents of rhizomatic learning are rhizome and other Deleuze Guattari's (2004) concepts as assemblages, becoming, nomad. The rhizomatic learning based on Deleuze Guattari's (2004) term of rhizome, which has neither beginning nor end (Cormier, 2008), providing a dynamic, open, personalized learning network created by learners themselves that meets their perceived and real needs (Lian, Pineda, 2014). The concept of rhizomatic learning has its own meaning, but is closely related to the concepts of Deleuze, Guattari (2004), such as rhizome, assemblage, becoming, nomad, and so on. It should be noted that the rhizomatic learning from poststructuralism perspective develops and manifests itself through various 'moving' Deleuze, Guattari’s (2004) concepts.  The consequences of rhizomatic learning show that rhizomatic learning could be applied successfully in educational science as learning foreign languages in various learning forms. Conclusion. The scientific analysis revealed that rhizomatic learning develops through Deleuze, Guattari concepts, especially through becoming learner and occurs in lifelong learning of English.

The text is an attempt to look at the problem of the contemporary studies into poetic language through the prism of poststructuralist reflection. The discussion, which originally referred to the theory of literature, concerned the themes also present in the studies of linguists and resulting from a critical analysis of the assumptions of structuralist thought. The perspective adopted in this abstract made it possible to present a research proposal comprising the category of redundancy in literary communication, as well as – in more detail – the category of relationality of verse, syntactical hypotheses or special predication with regard to poetic language. Free verse is apprehended here with reference to the findings of modern scholars of verse, which involves a special way of thinking about syntax in poetry, and also – about the specific aspects of semantics. The attached examples (from a collection of modern Polish poetry) provide the necessary illustration of the linguistic phenomena demonstrated in the text.

The article discusses the psychoanalytical interpretation of Leśmian’s fairy tale The adventures of Sindbad Sailor by Bogusław Grodzki. Following Freud’s and Bettelheim’s concepts, it claims that Sindbad’s psychosexual development and his relations with the princesses reflect Leśmian’s phantasms – the poet’s erotic/sexual desires. In Grodzki’s work fiction seems to be an autobiographical tale and verbal psychotherapy. Misiak, on the other hand, presents the sex/gender categories and introduces the distinction between the autobiography and autofiction as well as certain poststructural and feminist categories.

The article is a brief summary of the last critical phase in literary studies. It considers some most important meanings of prefix "post-" according to opinions of its inventor, the French philosopher Jean-Franęois Lyotard. Deconstruction, feminist criticism, gender studies, discourses of the minorities etc. - all these have a "postic" character, because they transform the petrified traditions into new forms, revealing their unnoticed possibilities, and stressing their critical resources. The author introduces to poststructuralism, one of the most important trends of the European and American postmodern thought (the critique of epistemological foundationalism), for which deconstruction built a philosophical background. The author stresses metatheoretical dimension of the poststructuralist thought.

Opis:
Each social group – including the scientific community – creates a series of internal tensions that determine the relations within that group. They can be explained by social theories, but some phenomena transcend the boundaries of sociology. Theories of the universe provide an interesting perspective in the interpretation of systems within the group. Looking at cosmological models and theories, the article attempts to conceptualize the cosmological metaphor in theoretical and literary reflection. On the basis of Guth’s, Bondi’s or Gödel’s models, the dynamics of development in literary studies is being considered.
Każda grupa społeczna – w tym środowisko naukowe – wytwarza szereg wewnętrznych napięć, które determinują relacje wewnątrz tejże grupy. Można je tłumaczyć teoriami społecznymi, jednak niektóre zjawiska wykraczają poza granice socjologii. Ciekawą propozycję w interpretacji układów wewnątrz grupy przynoszą teorie wszechświata. Przyglądając się modelom i teoriom kosmologicznym, artykuł podejmuje próbę konceptualizacji metafory kosmologicznej w refleksji teoretycznoliterackiej. Na bazie modeli Gutha, Bondiego czy Gödla rozważa się dynamikę rozwoju kierunków badań literaturoznawczych.

This research paper aims to present the issue of gender studies as a scientific discipline embed in certain research context and in a network of relations with such ideas and conceptions as feminism and queer theory. By analyzing the historical and philosophical context and the range of influence in the area of these three disciplines, I consider the way how they popularly function in the scientific and common discourse. By relating both disciplines to each other and confronting them with the chronology, I analyze possible variants of thinking the sequent of these disciplines or their ahistorical functioning. I also search for the similarities between them, which could advocate a diachronic view and place in the causal context that calls to the synchronic attempt. In that way I consider all points of view and speculate validity or invalidity of synchronic attempt to gender studies, feminism and queer theory. Starting from asking for the historism or ahistorism of the term gender and presenting the way it varies from feminist and queer conceptions, I consecutively analyze feminism with reference to gender research (in both variants of the chronological result); gender research with reference to queer studies and queer studies with reference to feminism.

The article analyses the methodological functions of the concept of “death” in the structuralist and poststructuralist interpretations. It is shown that the concept of death helps to understand different phenomena of man's life and activity. The article demonstrates that the concept of “man’s death” gains one of the central places in the works of postructuralists (R. Barthes, J. Derrida, M. Foucault). The author interprets the expansion of this concept in modern philosophical discourse as the reflection of the anxiety of the thinkers about the future of the European culture and humanity in general.
W artykule przeanalizowane są metodologiczne funkcje pojęcia „śmierć” w interpretacji strukturalizmu oraz poststrukturalizmu. Autorka wykazuje, że pojęcie „śmierć” nadaje się do przeanalizowania różnych zjawisk ludzkiego życia i działania. Pojęcie „śmierć człowieka” zajmuje jedno z centralnych miejsc w twórczości wielu przedstawicieli poststrukturalizmu (R. Barthes, J. Derrida, M. Foucault i inni). Autorka wyjaśnia rozpowszechnienie tego pojęcia we współczesnej refleksji filozoficznej jako skutek odzwierciedlenia niepokoju myślicieli naszych czasów co do przyszłości europejskiej kultury i ludzkości w ogóle.
