Opis:
Economic integration, which means the elimination of economic borders between countries, is realised in the scope of markets and in the scope of economic policy. Free movement of goods and factors of production results in the increased interdependence of economies. It causes that the national policy of one country can have both positive and negative effects for the others. In this situation there is necessary to coordinate or to unify the economic policy of members' countries, but it has the conseąuences in the field of the autonomy of national priorities and realisation measures appointing. The Polish experiences as an associated country with the European Communities show that it can bring about the certain advantages as well as the threats. Taking it into account, apart from suitable macroeconomic policy, there is a need to elaborate the long-term economic strategy for Poland as an opened economy.

Opis:
A model of the New Neoclassical Synthesis (NSN) became a commonly accepted explanation of the market economic mechanisms during the last 10 years. It became also a cornerstone of economic policy, mainly monetary policy. However, both theoretical and practical aspects of the model may arouse some caveats. Most important doubt considers an underestimation of the power of fiscal policy. Hence the opinions that the global financial crisis might have been caused also by the misguided policy grounded on the inaccurate theoretical principles. The article studies the crux of the NSN model and reviews the problems concerning its practical implications.

Opis:
The human development index (HDI) and the human poverty index (HPI) - the composite measures of human development created to draw morę attention to social aspects in modern economic policy. The dominant practice of judging the level of countries’ development through gross national product per capita is one of the reasons because of which there is a elear tendency of undervaluation of social aspects of development in recent times. Despite being greeted as controversial when it was first launched in 1990, the human development index (HDI) has been succesful in serving as an alternative measure of development, suppplementing GNP. The HDI measures the overall achievements of a country in the three basie dimensions: longevity (measured as life expectancy), knowledge (as adult literacy and school enrollment) and a decent standard of living (as real GDP per capita). The succes of HDI encouraged its authors to introduce in 1997 another summary measure of development - the human poverty index (HPI) - a useful complement to income measures of poverty. While HDI measures overall progress of a country in achieving progress, the HPI measures deprivation in the same dimensions of basie human development as the HDI. The HPI measures poverty in developing countries in the following dimensions: longevity as measured by probability of not surviving to the age of 40, knowledge as measured by adult literacy ratę and overall economic provision as measured by percentage of people not using improved water resources and the percentage of children under five who are underweight. In developed countries the indicators are: the probability of not surviving to the age of 60, adult functional illiteracy, the percentage of people living below the poverty linę, and additionally social exclusion measured as long term unemployment . Although UNDP’s international ranking of countries by HDI and HPI has mostly prestige meaning, it has a psychological effect which should mobilize governments to act in order to improve the situation and shows where foreign aid should be directed first.

Opis:
Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników analizy i ocena polityki gospodarczej Chińskiej Republiki Ludowej wobec Kenii w drugiej dekadzie XXI w. We wstępie omówiono podstawowe założenia metodologiczne artykułu. W pierwszej części artykułu syntetycznie przedstawiono tło historyczne stosunków gospodarczych między Kenią a ChRL, a w drugiej części zaprezentowano przegląd literatury przedmiotu.
The aim of the paper is to present the results of the analysis and evaluation of the economic policy of the People's Republic of China towards Kenya in the second decade of the 21st century. The introduction discusses the basic methodological assumptions of the paper. The first section of the paper synthetically outlines the historical background of economic relations between Kenya and the PRC, and the second section presents a field-specific literature review. The third section of the paper presents Kenya as one of China's economic partners in Africa. The main section of the paper analyses investments and development projects implemented in Kenya by Chinese companies. The core research problem concerns the question whether China's economic policy towards Kenya is beneficial from the point of view of the economic development of the countries involved? The main thesis assumes that this policy increases the development opportunities of all the states. However, it is unsustainable and carries serious risks, especially for Kenya's economic security.

Opis:
History textbook from the first years after the war did not provide an extensive analysis of the  economic policy of the Second Polisch Republic. Reflections on this topic constituted only a small portion of the autors deliberations. Until the middle of the 1950s authors evalauted the economic activity of the authorities very critically. They used a narration full of ideological expressions and political phraseology and did not hide their negative attitudes towards the reality of the interwar Poland. In the following decades, history textbooks showed that authors started to slowly move away from complete criticism of the authorities of the Second polish Republic, also when economy was concerned. Positive opinins pointing to the usefulness and measurable benefits of some of the initiatives and economic actions appeared. In the textbooks from the 1970s, some economic information was extended. Authors started using economic terminology and tried to explain the complex economic situation of the interwar Poland in more detail. There was less ideologising and discrediting of the economic policy of the authorities. Insted, the authors started appreciating the work of W. Grabski and his contribution to the economic reforms. In the next decads, the textbooks presented more detailed information about the disadvan-tageous conditions and difficulties concerting the economic policy of the authorities of the Second Polish Republic who despite the circumstances, strove for the development of the country through introducing reforms. First, the authors mentioned the underdevelopment on the indepedent Poland that was inherited from the occupants. Then, they mentioned investment achivements of those vears(e.g. railroading). The  newly open manufacturing plants indicated that the economic oilicy of the authorities was moving in the right direction. After 1989, approving phrases started appearing in the textbooks, for example: "an offensive economic policy", "currency cure", "the flywheel of the entire economy". In the textbooks from the years 2002-2007, the authors enumerated the most important economic successes of the interwar Poland. They used elements of economic thought in their course of thinking.

Opis:
W artykule zanalizowano rynek pracy w Polsce w latach 1990-2003. Wskazano na instrumenty polityki gospodarczej stosowane w walce z bezrobociem.
The paper deals with the hypothesis that the rate of unemployment of 20% in 2003 is the result of economic policy in Poland. In 1990-2003, whenever there was a possibility of trade off between inflation and unemployment the policy favored lower inflation to the detriment of the rate of unemployment. The author points out long-run (14 year-period) and short-run character of the tendency in economic policy. The only exception is the period of 1993-1998 when the changes of the rate of unemployment and inflation were parallel. Sacrificing unemployment in favor of lower inflation made Polish employment indicators much poorer in comparison with European countries including those in transition (except Slovakia). The following part of the paper the rate of unemployment in Poland, are analyzed according to such categories as territory, duration and type of unemployment. The approximate rate of natural unemployment is estimated. The rate of natural unemployment in Poland, being around 13.5%, has long way to reach the level observed in market economics. Economic growth of Polish economy of around 6.2% is the determinant of the normal level of natural unemployment by 2009.
