Societal security is an area associated with an extensive catalog of natural and anthropogenic threats, which do not recognize any administrative boundaries in their destructive development. The escalation of their negative impact is determined by the geographic and natural conditions in the place of their materialization and the laws of physics. The mentioned dependencies mean that effective prevention of their occurrence or combating their negative effects requires combining the efforts of various entities in the internal (national) dimension, as well as with neighboring countries, especially in border areas. This article attempts to diagnose Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in actions to ensure societal security undertaken by fire protection units operating in Poland with their counterparts operating in Ukraine.

The article puts focus on the main trends of the Polish-Ukrainian cooperation on the self-governance reform under the condition of the current crisis in Ukraine. Particular emphasis is put on the role and effectiveness of the Eastern Partnership Initiative as well as the initiatives on territorial cooperation. Furthermore, the role of Polish and Ukrainian non-governmental organizations in the reforming process in Ukraine is taken into consideration. Finally, the article makes an attempt to answer the question whether Polish experience of the self-governance reform might be beneficial on the Ukrainian ground as regards creating favorable conditions for the decentralization processes.

The article highlights the main directions of creative cooperation of scientists and educators of the Republic of Poland and Ukraine. Certain directions are analyzed, the dynamism of this process, its expansion and deepening caused by a combination of factors are characterized. The leading among them is the human factor, which determines humanization, spirituality, internal motivation in the “man-man” system. Particular attention is paid to the understanding of the role of the scientist’s personality, his state vision and influence on this process. A vivid example of such a scholar is Franciszek Szlosek, Doctor Habilitated, Professor, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy of The Maria Grzegorzewska University in Warsaw, Foreign Member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Head of the Scientific Society “Poland-Ukraine”. His name, ideas, concrete and fruitful activity, aimed at developing international cooperation, became part of the history of Ukrainian pedagogical science and education at the end of the 20th century - the beginning of the 21st century.

The figure of Ivan Franko is a unique phenomenon in Ukrainian literature and culture due to the diversity of his interests, erudition and rich literary, academic and journalistic legacy. His impressive output comprises six thousand publications, including poetry (ten volumes published in the years 1876-1914), prose (nine novels and more than one hundred prosaic forms: short stories, novellas and fables), drama, philosophical and folklore writings as well as critical works concerning literature and history. This vast bibliography encompasses over one thousand texts in Polish (ten poems and forty prosaic texts). The present paper constitutes a review and analysis of the Polish language translations of Franko’s texts, which include self-translations published during his lifetime as well as translations made by other authors.

The article characterizes the main aspects of geopolitical relations between Poland and Ukraine. It presents a Russian impact on Ukrainian politics, the EU’s intention to affect the orientation of Ukraine and NATO’s ambitions on the eastern flank. The article indicates the transformations of the new statehood of Ukraine and its relationship with the environment. Russia makes the strongest political and economic impact on Ukraine. Russia has subdued Crimea, supports the rebellion in the east of Ukraine and seeks to maintain influence on the future orientation of the country. Geopolitical impacts of the European Union and NATO are more limited. In direct Polish-Ukrainian relations there is a Polish support for Ukrainian independence and the new government, elected after the events on the Maidan at the end of 2013 and in 2014. The effects of geopolitical conflict over the lands of Volyn and Eastern Galicia and disputes about land Zakierzonia (located west of the so-called Curzon line) put a shadow on these relations. The new Ukrainian authorities emphasize the activities of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) that contributed to the ethnic cleansing of Polish population. The effects of forced relocation of the Ukrainian population as part of the “Vistula” operation in 1947 are not comparable.

Przedmiotem analizy były m.in. zagadnienia relacji gospodarczych, poglądów dotyczących integracji europejskiej Ukrainy, relewancji kwestii historycznych w programach i decyzjach partii politycznych od początku lat dziewięćdziesiątych do 2023 roku.
The study addresses the issue of the positions of political parties in Poland on eastern policy, in particular on Polish-Ukrainian cooperation. Therefore, an attempt was made to answer questions about the historical background of these views, the impact of international and internal situation in Poland and Ukraine. The subject of the analysis was the issues of economic relations, views on the European integration of Ukraine, the relevance of historical issues in the programs and decisions of political parties from the early 1990s to 2023.

W opracowaniu przedstawiono sytuację finansową firm ukraińskich i polskich na tle uwarunkowań makroekonomicznych. W pracy wskazano na możliwości współpracy firm polskich i ukraińskich, na zachęty inwestycyjne stosowane przez rządy i inicjatywy prywatne. Współpraca w zakresie zwiększenia dynamiki innowacji w przedsiębiorstwach wydaje się niewystarczająca. Brakuje też długofalowego, strategicznego programu współpracy polskich i ukraińskich firm.
In her work, the author presented the financial situation of Ukrainian and Polish firms against the background of macroeconomic determinants. She pointed out to the opportunities for cooperation of Polish and Ukrainian firms, the investment incentives applied by the government and private initiatives. Cooperation in the area of increasing the dynamics of innovation at enterprises seems to be insufficient. There is also lack of a long-term, strategic programme of cooperation of Polish and Ukrainian firms.
В разработке представили финансовое положение украинских и польских фирм на фоне макроэкономических обусловленностей. В работе указаны возможности сотрудничества польских и украинских фирм, инвестиционные стимулы, применяемые правительствами и частными инициативами. Сотрудничество в области повышения динамики инноваций на предприятиях представляется недостаточным. Не хватает тоже долгосрочной, стратегической программы сотрудничества польских и украинских фирм.

Celem artykułu jest próba zdiagnozowania stanu rozwoju systemu profilaktyki zachowań ryzykownych w Ukrainie i ukazanie możliwości wspierania go poprzez partnerstwo polsko-ukraińskie, w ramach współpracy uniwersyteckiej Uniwersytetu Kazimierza Wielkiego w Bydgoszczy i Państwowego Uniwersytetu im. Iwana Franki w Drohobyczu. Artykuł jest pierwszą w Polsce próbą ukazania znaczenia, przebiegu i efektów polsko-ukraińskiej współpracy instytucjonalnej nawiązanej na rzecz rozwoju systemu profilaktyki w Ukrainie. Artykuł rozpoczyna charakterystyka roli Polski w tej współpracy. Dalej podjęto próbę zdiagnozowania rozwoju systemu profilaktyki sporządzoną na podstawie analizy regulacji prawnych i wynikających z nich praktyk społecznych stosowanych w Ukrainie i zwrócono uwagę na potrzeby w zakresie rozwoju systemu profilaktyki. Na końcu zaprezentowano pionierskie działania instytucjonalne na rzecz rozwoju systemu profilaktyki, podjęte w ramach polsko-ukraińskiej współpracy. W artykule zastosowano metodę monograficzną: analizę treści, badanie dokumentów i materiałów.
The aim of the article is to attempt to diagnose the state of development of the risk behavior prevention system in Ukraine and to show the possibilities of supporting it through the Polish-Ukrainian partnership, as part of university cooperation between Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz and the Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University. The article is the first attempt in Poland to show the significance, course and effects of Polish-Ukrainian institutional cooperation established for the development of the prevention system in Ukraine. The article begins with a description of the role of Poland in this cooperation. Further, an attempt was made to diagnose the development of the prevention system based on the analysis of legal regulations and the resulting social practices used in Ukraine, and attention was drawn to the needs for the development of the prevention system. Finally, pioneering institutional activities for the development of the prevention system, undertaken as part of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation are described. The article uses the monographic method: content analysis, examination of documents and materials.
