Opis:
Purpose: The aim of the paper is to analyse entrepreneurial behaviour of Polish society and level of entrepreneurship in Poland in the years 2014-2018. Design/methodology/approach: The first part of the article is based on an analysis of literature on the issues discussed. Then, based on the GEM Reports, the various manifestations of entrepreneurship and its level in Poland in 2014-2018 was assessed. Findings: The conducted research indicates that more and more Poles see business opportunities in their environment and do not feel fear of failure. On the other hand, fewer people plan to set up their own business, which is undoubtedly the reflection of a good situation in the labour market, which allows people to freely choose between their own business and labour for hire, which, in turn, affects a decline in entrepreneurial intentions. The better motivation structure of young entrepreneurs is also visible in Poland, as most people start their own business seeing it as an opportunity rather than necessity. Originality/value: The analysis allows the identification of areas requiring changes. Therefore, it may constitute the basis for the government to take appropriate actions to increase the level and quality of entrepreneurial activity.

Author claims that peasant character of Polish pre-war society (1918-1939) was preserved throughout the Second World War and turbulent immediate post-war years, and until the 1980s had been a major factor accounting for economic and social development of Polish society. Peasants, and more general rural dwellers, were the only class of Polish pre-war society which did not disintegrated in result of the World War Two, and became a recruitment base of a new working class and a new intelligentsia. They transferred their peasant-rooted value systems and their mentality shaped by a permanent poverty of Polish rural areas into their new environments, mostly urban and industrial, and in this way contributed to the

Opis:
Guidelines for the pharmacotherapy of pain in cancer patients were developed by a group of 21 experts of the Polish Association for the Study of Pain, Polish Society of Palliative Medicine, Polish Society of Oncology, Polish Society of Family Medicine, Polish Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy and Association of Polish Surgeons. During a series of meetings, the experts carried out an overview of the available literature on the treatment of pain in cancer patients, paying particular attention to systematic reviews and more recent randomized studies not included in the reviews. The search was performed in the EMBASE, MEDLINE, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials databases using such keywords as “pain”, “cancer”, “pharmacotherapy”, “analgesics”, and similar. The overviewed articles included studies of pathomechanisms of pain in cancer patients, methods for the assessment of pain in cancer patients, and drugs used in the pharmacotherapy of pain in cancer patients, including non-opioid analgesics (paracetamol, metamizole, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), opioids (strong and weak), coanalgesics (glucocorticosteroids, α2-adrenergic receptor agonists, NMDA receptor antagonists, antidepressants, anticonvulsants, topical medications) as well as drugs used to reduce the adverse effects of the analgesic treatment and symptoms other than pain in patients subjected to opioid treatment. The principles of opioid rotation and the management of patients with opioidophobia were discussed and recommendations for the management of opioid-induced hyperalgesia were presented. Drugs used in different types of pain experienced by cancer patients, including neuropathic pain, visceral pain, bone pain, and breakthrough pain, were included in the overview. Most common interactions of drugs used in the pharmacotherapy of pain in cancer patients as well as the principles for the management of crisis situations. In the final part of the recommendations, the issues of pain and care in dying patients are discussed. Recommendations are addressed to physicians of different specialties involved in the diagnostics and treatment of cancer in their daily practice. It is the hope of the experts who took part in the development of these recommendations that the recommendations would become helpful in everyday medical practice and thus contribute to the improvement in the quality of care and the efficacy of pain treatment in this group of patients.

This paper describes perception of the left and right-wing values by Polish community. They are analyzed in three dimensions: ideological and doctrinal, constitutional and economical as well as social. The outcome of the analysis was the creation of the map of actual perception of left and right wing by people with certain ideological auto-identification. The added value is a comparative analysis of the results obtained in 2012 with the data obtained from own studies conducted in 2007 that shows the dynamics of changes in the political consciousness of Polish society.

Opis:
The article is devoted to the analysis of value system of Polish society in the 1970s. After establishing that Poles are the 'federation of primary groups united in a national community', the author formulates the sociological vacuum thesis: Poles strongly identify with their family and friends and the next community, they strongly identify with, is nation. In between these two poles the vacuum spreads covering institutions and groups other than family and friends (e.g. professional groups). The author emphasizes frustration as a feature of Polish society, in which axiological standards significantly differ from reality (the examples of the socialist and democratic values support this argument). He contends simultaneously that the possibility of generalizing about value system of Polish society as a whole stems not so much from the lack of internal differentiation in particular clusters of values (such differentiation exists), as from the experience of vast social change that has resulted in the disappearance of previous value formation centers and has not led to the emergence of the new ones.

A gender gap in the religiosity of men and women is one of the classical topic of sociology and psychology of religion. Until recently, however, most of the researcher were conducted in Western European and the USA, which calls into question the thesis about the universality of this phenomenon. Hitherto no systematic analysis of gender gap in the religiosity was conducted for Poland. The following text has one descriptive and one explanatory purpose. It seeks to provide answers to the following questions: (1) Does the GGR exist in Poland, and, if so, to which extent and in which dimension of religiosity? Which GGR is persistent, and which changes over time?; and (2) Do structural variables or ideology explain the observed GGR change in time and in which dimension of religiosity? Do we observe the same trend across all dimensions of religiosity?

Opis:
Environmental awareness comprises convictions, views, opinions and behavioral patterns related to human attitude towards the nature. The knowledge gained at school but also elsewhere, cultural tradition of a given social group, pressure of this group's opinion and own experiences constitute the foundations of environmental awareness. The research data shows that over 80% of society are interested in environmental protection (17,69% express high interest, 64,51% medium interest). In the opinion of 55,86% of the questionnaire respondents , environmental activities in municipalities should address creating green areas at housing estates, waste management and construction of wastewater treatment plants.Current world standards pose serious challenges to environmental education. Teachers should be capable of thinking in global terms and be able to transfer this way of thinking to schools and to local communities. Teachers are prepared to work with students and their activities within the society depend of individual needs and motivations. Therefore there is a strong need for complex solutions. It depends to as large extend on a positive attitude, environmental awareness and involvement of local authorities. In its environmental protection programme, a municipality should ensure space not only for investment projects but also for environmental education of the local communities who benefits from these investments.

Viral hepatitis is caused by viruses, the most important of which are hepatitis A virus (HAV), hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). New discoveries and new therapeutic options result in better and better results of treatment. However, the public's awareness of the occurrence of these diseases and the detection of infections as soon as possible is still important, what is associated with better outcomes. In order to assess the basic knowledge about viral hepatitis among Polish society, an online survey spread throughout Poland and covering mainly young people was created. 2205 responses were collected and analyzed. On the basis of the results obtained, it can be concluded that Polish youth have little knowledge about viral hepatitis, what is associated with less awareness of the possibility of infection.

A questionnaire-based study conducted in October 2021 provided analytical material on the degree and sources of disinformation in Polish society. The material has representative qualities and is the first comprehensive research project in Poland to cover issues regarding information security in such breadth and detail. The paper aims to analyse and present a study on disinformation in Polish society conducted on a representative group of Poles in 2021. The project's key research questions are: How receptive is the Polish public to disinformation content? What are the channels of information provided to Poles? Is the notion of disinformation familiar to the Polish audience, and do the recipients of media content search for methods to verify disinformation? The analysis and interpretation of the results identified some important features of the Polish disinformation map. The concept of disinformation is now commonly familiar to the Polish public (86%), and the sensitivity to content credibility can be regarded as high; the respondents were found to verify information, actively searching through various sources. Disinformation is rife in climate, energy (52%), and health (44%).
