Opis:
A hundred children from a primary school at Lublin, in whom Enterobius vermicularis was detected by Graham's method, were examined for the presence of volatile fatty acids in the urine by Soprunova's method. In the same children coproscopic examinations were carried out by the method of direct smear and by Riva's and Faust's methods. The obtained results show that E. vermicularis does not excrete volatile fatty acids characteristic of Ascaris, which means that infecticon by E. vermicularis does not affect the results of biochemical diagnostics of ascaridosis. The results confirm the specificity of Soprunova's method and point at its possible use in field examinations.

Opis:
Because of strongyloidosis two patients still living in Poland and one foreigner were treated. Diagnose has been based on the Fillleborn agar culture but behaviour of the parasite and its larvae during treatment was controlled with Baermann method in addition. During treatment telmid has been administered for two patients but thiabendazol (mintezol) for the third. The effectiveness of therapy has been controlled using the methods mentioned above after the first and the sixth month from the date of cure ending. There has been obtained the permanent therapeutical effect.

W artykule przedstawiono projekt i wstępną realizację modelu symulacyjnego oraz założenia badań dynamiki systemu sprzedaży w zakładzie ubezpieczeń gospodarczych. Wskazano na własności dynamiczne systemu wynikające z występujących sprzężeń zwrotnych i opóźnień. Podstawowa struktura systemu składa się z dwóch pętli sprzężeń zwrotnych: „skuteczność i produktywność sprzedaży − wynagrodzenie – motywacja – produktywność sprzedaży” oraz „skuteczność i produktywność sprzedaży – wyna-grodzenie – rezygnacja pracowników sprzedaży – kwalifikacje zawodowe sprzedawców − skuteczność i produktywność sprzedaży”. Rozważono reguły decyzyjne prowadzące do zrównoważonego wzrostu sprzedaży ubezpieczeń. Dokonano także analizy wad metod zarządzania kadrami w sprzedaży ubezpieczeń oraz zarządzania współpracą z pośrednikami ubezpieczeniowymi. Artykuł stanowi propozycję modelowania symulacyjnego i badań aspektów systemowych zarządzania sprzedażą ubezpieczeń na przykładzie ubezpieczeń na życie.
In the paper a concept and an early-stage simulation model with some assumptions for simulation investigation of the sales system in insurance company is described. Dynamic behaviours of the sales system, caused by system structure, particularly feedbacks, are especially pointed. Some proposals of organisation structures leading to sustainable increase of insurance sales are also suggested. The paper analyses disadvantages and weaknesses of insurance sale system and management of insurance distribution network considering some practical data and market processes in cooperation between insurance company and its insurance intermediaries. The paper constitutes an original proposal of simulation model and a research program of sales system management in an insurance company.

Zróżnicowanie oczekiwań zatrudnionych w jednostkach gospodarczych dotyczy m.in. warunków pracy. Realizacja tych oczekiwań rzutuje na – coraz bardziej znaczący na polskim rynku pracy – wizerunek pracodawcy. W artykule uwagę skoncentrowano na dbałości pracodawców o ten wizerunek, przejawiającej się w respektowaniu interesów pracowników związanych ze wskazanymi warunkami, co skutkuje wzrostem ich zadowolenia. Podstawą przedstawionego rozumowania stały się przede wszystkim badania empiryczne dotyczące respektowania tych interesów. Uznano, iż podejście do kształtowania warunków pracy ma swoje źródło w cechach pracowników oraz kulturze organizacyjnej, co różnicuje wizerunek przedsiębiorstw rozpatrywany przez pryzmat pracodawcy.
Differentiation of job expectations maintained by persons employed in business entities is also evident with regard to working conditions. Proper realisation of these expectations does have a notable impact upon employer image – an attribute of growing significance in the modern Polish labour market. The focus of this paper is placed on the process of building the employer image, as expressed in the employer’s observance of employee interests and other activities designed to increase their job satisfaction. The research is based, predominantly, on the results of empirical studies on observance of employee interests in business setting. The findings seem to corroborate the view that an employer’s approach to the formulation of working conditions is largely influenced by employees’ traits and the attributes of the organisational culture, which both have a notable impact upon the differentiation of employer images as viewed from the employer’s standpoint.

Human resource departments should be perceived as a distinct, organizational "promoter of innovation". This change of perspective requires them to employ a range of activities well beyond the classical definition of the personnel function. The paper presents an analysis of practical solutions in the HR sphere, as employed by Impel Business Solutions, Ltd. In Wroclaw, Poland. The authors' main focus is put on identification of those aspects of HR operation which display strong orientation on the increase of the company's potential to innovate. The research was conducted in January, 2014, using structured interviews with HR department managers of the company under study.

In 1961 the Leon Wyczółkowski Museum in Bydgoszcz purchased from Ms Jażdżewska a group of 405 coins comprising chiefly half-grossi by Władysław Jagiello (1386-1434). The tentative identifications imply that the hoard, discovered in 1939, comes from the vicinity of Ujście, poviat Pila. The coins were included in the Museum inventory in 1971, No MOB/Mo 5719-6097. The coins were catalogued on the basis of an undated rough list preserved in the Numismatic Cabinet. Coins were cleaned before this was made. Their condition is good. Difficulties while identifying them result from a poor striking quality. Coins included by S. Kubiak in Types XI and VI make up the most numerous group. The youngest coins date from the years 1431-1434, thus the hoard must have been buried after 1434.

A hoard of 15th-16th century coins was found in Dobrzyn on the Vistula (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship) on September 8, 1964 during road works. A pot (lost since then) contained 214 coins. They were given to the Leon Wyczolkowski Museum in Bydgoszcz to be registered in the inventory book No MOB/Mo 505-718. This is the first find from that time (tpq 1551) discovered in the Dobrzyn Land. The hoard consists of shillings, half-groschen and Groschen struck chiefly by Polish rulers in the Cracow mint, or by their consent in mints in Torun, Gdansk and Elblag. They make up 85.5 per cent of the complex. Foreign coins: Teutonic Order (9 pieces) and Ducal Prussia (18 pieces), were allowed to circulate over the area of Poland after the monetary union of 1527 when the Cracow mark was acknowledged as the basic unit of Prussian coinage. Conversed to Groschen (approx. 103), the hoard's material value is not high, however, the diversity of nominals occurring in it testifies Dobrzyn's relationships with the cities that took part in waterway trading along the Vistula River. W artykule opisano wybrane procedury i narzędzia przeznaczone do gromadzenia i dzielenia się wiedzą, stosowane przez producenta oprogramowania multimedialnego, wskazując przy tym na zasadnicze przesłanki ich wprowadzania. Będąca obiektem badań firma – uznawana za lidera branży – zatrudnia wysokiej klasy specjalistów, m.in. programistów, architektów oprogramowania, projektantów produktów, których postrzega jako tzw. pracowników wiedzy. Na podstawie obserwacji bezpośredniej, przeglądu dokumentacji organizacyjnej oraz wywiadów z pracownikami wykonawczymi i ze specjalistami pionu zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi, dokonano analizy oraz oceny wprowadzonych rozwiązań z punktu widzenia ich dopasowania do okoliczności działania badanej organizacji oraz specyfiki procesów pracy.
The article describes certain procedures and tools for gathering and sharing knowledge, used by the manufacturer of multimedia software, indicating the essential reasons for their introduction. The company chosen as the object of research – recognized as a leader in the industry – employs highly qualified specialists, including programmers, software architects, product designers, who are perceived as so-called knowledge workers. Based on direct observation, review of organizational documentation and interviews with specialists in the division of human resources management, there has been an analysis and evaluation of solutions introduced from the point of view of their adaptation to the circumstances of the audited organization and of the specifics of their work processes.

Examinations were made of household objects contaminated with eggs of Enterobius vermicularis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura by using a device, joined to a vacuum cleaner, worked out by Kaledin and Romanienko and modified by the authors. The method by Kaledin and Romanienko has been found to be simple, rapid and effective because in the course of collecting samples, ready microscopic preparations are obtained. The obtained results concerning the degree of contamination of various objects with eggs of parasites are in agreement with the mechanism of transmission of eggs found in the environment and are in accordance with the observations of other authors. It seems that the method of Kaledin and Romanienko may be used in complex parasitic examinations.

Ludwik Wawrzynowicz was a graduate of the Music Conservatory in Warsaw. He started his professional career in Warsaw as a singer of the Warsaw Opera. In 1902 he came to Częstochowa, where he took the position of artistic director of the "Lutnia" Singing Society and choir conductor. In 1904 he founded the L. Wawrzynowicz Music School in Częstochowa. He ran the facility and was an active teacher for 42 years, until 1946. The school contributed significantly to the flourishing of Częstochowa's musical environment and the city's cultural life. Wawrzynowicz was an animator of musical culture and an organizer of numerous concerts. He has performed as a conductor, pianist, organist and speaker. He was also a journalist and regular music rapporteur for "Goniec Częstochowski" in the years 1906–1939. He also published articles in other periodicals. He was a versatile activist, an active popularizer of musical culture. He exerted a significant influence on the development of the musical life of Częstochowa.

The paper attempts to determine whether the issue of the effect on people's behaviour in the area of occupational safety and health is perceived in the same way by experienced workers as by those who are just beginning their activity in the labour market. The following questions were answered: what may be the reasons for the inappropriate behaviour of employees in the area of occupational safety and health, what motivators should be used to avoid inappropriate behaviour of employees? The survey showed that according to younger respondents, inappropriate staff behaviour results from the lack of example from a supervisor, while older workers consider that this is related to the behaviour of other employees. For more experienced workers, failure to follow occupational safety and health guidelines is caused by the fact that the personal protective equipment required is often uncomfortable, while younger respondents did not perceive subjective physical discomfort as a cause of non-compliance with internal safety regulations; they more often indicated that this was due to staff laziness. The identified hierarchy of motivators perceived by respondents as the most effective is the same for both groups surveyed; persuasive and sanction-based influence was considered the most effective. A group of younger respondents showed a greater willingness to punish workers who do not use the necessary protective equipment. The two groups of respondents also differ in opinions on the methods of using the persuasive influence on employees in the context of improving the area of OSH in the enterprise.

Artykuł przedstawia implementację algorytmów tekstowych w wybranych platformach przetwarzania równoległego. Dostępność procesorów wielordzeniowych oraz kart graficznych ogólnego przeznaczenia sprawia, iż badania nad równoległą implementacją algorytmów w celu ich akceleracji nabierają coraz większego znaczenia. Algorytmy tekstowe są niezwykle istotnym i często niezbędnym elementem zaawansowanych algorytmów analizy tekstu oraz są także składowymi funkcji wyszukiwania wzorców w tekście wielu języków programowania. W pracy dokonano analizy najpopularniejszych algorytmów tekstowych oraz dokonano ich analizy pod kątem ich zrównoleglenia w celu ich implementacji w procesorze wielordzeniowym oraz karcie graficznej ogólnego przeznaczenia. Analizowanymi algorytmami są: boyer-moore, algorytm naiwny oraz algorytm knuth-morris-pratt. Następnie dokonano porównania efektywności ich realizacji na wymienionych platformach sprzętowych.
This paper presents implementation of text algorithms in multicore CPU and GPGPU. The text algorithms are very common algorithms used in text analysis process and they are a part of functions used for text patterns recognition. The library functions for text searching implemented in many languages very often use most popular text-algorithms. The paper describes the analysis of these algorithms for parallel implementations in multicore processors and general purpose graphic cards. The research work presented in this paper shows that text algorithms can be partially parallelized. The process of acceleration can be done by appropriate dividing the input text between parallel threads (data parallelism). The comparative studies were performed for the following algorithms: boyer-moore (horspool) , naive and knuth-morris-pratt algorithm. The presented results show the efficiency of these algorithms in the case of different type and size of patterns. In the case of GPU the implementation was made in the CUDA framework. The OpenMP library was used for a multicore version.

This paper examines circumstances inducing employers to introduce employment flexibility policies. The issue is discussed in terms of flexibility in the quantitative, functional, time-related, and financial aspects of employment. At the same time, an effort is made to demonstrate that employer efforts at introducing flexibility in employment should be examined not only in terms of opportunities, but also risks. The primary risk is associated with limited receptivity on the part of employers towards the issue of employment security, with its resulting problems of organizational trust, decreased employee loyalty, and other consequences that impact company operation.

The elementary functions are very often used in scientific computations. The quantum chemistry, physics, financial computing are only examples were elementary functions like exponent, logarithm are intensively computed. This paper presents implementation of an exp(x) core in a CORDIC-algorithm written in Mitrion-C lanuage. The Mitrion-C language is a new high level language. It enables implementing pipelined and wide paralleled algorithms on FPGA platforms. It makes process of algorithms implementation on FPGA faster. From gravitational forces to quantum chemistry or financial mathematics, computational scientists very often use exp(x) in computer simulations. The implemented core generates IEEE 754 standard single precision exponential values. The CORDIC algorithm can be used to compute wide spectrum of different elementary functions like sine, cosine, tangent. In our solution values of the exponent for integer part of the input argument are stored in a table. The table is allocated in an internal memory. The fractional part is computed by the CORDIC algorithm. The final result is achieved by multiplying the values of the fractional and integer part. Our implementation is made on SGI Altix 4700 hardware platform. It is SGI multiprocessor distributed shared memory computer system with Virtex-4 LX 200 FPGAs.
Funkcje elementarne są bardzo często wykorzystywane w obliczeniach naukowych. Chemia kwantowa, matematyka finansowa, fizyka jedne z wielu dziedzin gdzie funkcje takie jak eksponenta, logarytm są intensywnie wykonywane. Praca ta przedstawia implementację funkcji eksponenty za pomocą algorytmu CORDIC w języku Mitrion-C. Mitrion-C jest nowym językiem wysokiego poziomu programowania układów FPGA. Język ten posiada odpowiednie instrukcje oraz wbudowane typy danych, które pozwalają na programowanie algorytmów potokowo jak i całkowicie równolegle. W naszym rozwiązaniu argument wejściowy jest rozdzielony na część całkowitą i część ułamkową. Wartości eksponenty dla części całkowitej przechowywane są w tablicy w pamięci wewnętrznej natomiast część wartość dla części ułamkowej obliczana jest algorytmem CORDIC. Wynik końcowy obliczany jest za pomocą mnożenia części ułamkowej i całkowitej. Implementacja wykonana jest na platformie sprzętowej SGI ALTIX 4700. Jest to platforma wieloprocesorowa ze współdzieloną pamięcią oraz układami FPGA typu Virtex-4 LX 200.
