Opis:
Web winding systems allow the operations of unwinding and rewinding of various products including plastic films, sheets of paper, sheets, and fabrics. These operations are necessary for the development and the treatment of these products. Web winding systems generally consist of the same machine elements in spite of the diversity of the transported products. Due to the wide rang variation of the radius and inertia of the rollers the system dynamic change considerably during the winding/ unwinding process. Decentralized PI controller for web tension control and linear speed control are presented in this paper. The PI control method can be applied easily and is widely known, it has an important place in control applications. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed linear speed and tension controller for web winding multi motors systems.

The control system proposed is used for positioning of an electrohydraulic drive with Bosch Rexroth servo valve. The controller is based on PLC, working under real time operating system Automation Runtime. User interface is equipped with the touch panel of Power Panel 500 type. In the first part of the paper the fractional order calculus theory is introduced. In addition, some examples of fractional controller implementations in different kinds of objects are presented. The subsequent section focuses on author’s own research. The Oustaloup’s method description is recalled along with its computer implementation. Further, the impact of finite order of the approximation function is verified. In the paper a Lyapunov matrices approach to the parametric optimization problem of a time-delay system with two commensurate delays and a PI-controller is presented. The value of integral quadratic performance index is equal to the value of the Lyapunov functional for the initial function of the time-delay system. The Lyapunov functional is determined by means of the Lyapunov matrix. In the paper is presented the example of a scalar system with two delays and a PI controller.

Opis:
The time delay element present in the PI controller brings dead-time compensation capability and shows improved performance for dead-time processes. However, design of robust time delayed PI controller needs much responsiveness for uncertainty in dead-time processes. Hence in this paper, robustness of time delayed PI controller has been analyzed for First Order plus Dead-Time (FOPDT) process model. The process having dead-time greater than three times of time constant is very sensitive to dead-time variation. A first order filter is introduced to ensure robustness. Furthermore, integral time constant of time delayed PI controller is modified to attain better regulatory performance for the lag-dominant processes. The FOPDT process models are classified into dead-time/lag dominated on the basis of dead-time to time constant ratio. A unified tuning method is developed for processes with a number of dead-time to time constant ratio. Several simulation examples and experimental evaluation are exhibited to show the efficiency of the proposed unified tuning technique. The applicability to the process models other than FOPDT such as high-order, integrating, right half plane zero systems are also demonstrated via simulation examples.

In this paper the performance of a fractional order PI controller is compared with that of RED, a well-known active queue management (AQM) mechanism. The article uses fluid flow approximation and discrete-event simulation to investigate the influence of the AQM policy on the packet loss probability, the queue length and its variability. The impact of self-similar traffic is also considered.

Opis:
In the article a new method of PI controller adaptation was introduced. It was shown that way how controlled process is returning to its set value, after set point change or disturbance, can give guidelines for PI regulator tuning. Moreover, the proposed method is very simple and can be implemented in every PLC controller. The inference part of the solution can be implemented separately and allows tuning of the PLC build in PI controllers. The proposed method dump oscillations and limits overshoots, which appears in the process output. It was shown that obtained gain and phase margins are enough big to be safe.

Opis:
Analytical design of the PID-type controllers for linear plants based on the magnitude optimum criterion usually results in very good control quality and can be applied directly for high-order linear models with dead time, without need of any model reduction. This paper brings an analysis of properties of this tuning method in the case of the PI controller, which shows that it guarantees closed-loop stability and a large stability margin for stable linear plants without zeros, although there are limitations in the case of oscillating plants. In spite of the fact that the magnitude optimum criterion prescribes the closed-loop response only for low frequencies and the stability margin requirements are not explicitly included in the design objective, it reveals that proper open-loop behavior in the middle and high frequency ranges, decisive for the closed-loop stability and robustness, is ensured automatically for the considered class of linear systems if all damping ratios corresponding to poles of the plant transfer function without the dead-time term are sufficiently high.

Opis:
Disturbance rejection performance optimization with constraints on robustness for a multivariable process is commonly encountered in industrial control applications. This paper presents the tuning of a multi-loop Proportional Integral (PI) controller method to enhance the performance of load disturbance rejection using evolutionary optimization. The proposed design methodology is formulated to minimize the load disturbance rejection response and the input control energy under the constraints of robust stability. The minimum singular value of multiplicative uncertainty is considered a multi-loop system robust stability indicator. Optimization is performed to achieve the same, or higher level than the most-explored Direct Synthesis (DS) based multi-loop PI controller, which is derived from a conventional criterion. Simulation analysis clearly proved that the proposed multi-loop PI controller tuning method gives better disturbance rejection, and either, the same or a higher level of robust stability when compared to the DS-based multi-loop PI controller.

Opis:
Due to its multiple advantages in industrial and grid-connected applications, Multi-Level Inverters (MLIs) have increased in popularity in recent years. To improve the efficiency of a grid-connected PV system's integrated multi-level inverter fractional order PI (FOPI) controllers are used to describe the control process. The control system is made up of three control loops based on FOPI controllers: one for controlling the intermediate circuit voltage (Vdc) and the other two for controlling the direct and quadratic currents (Id, Iq) supplied by the multilevel inverter. The proposed controller parameters (Kp, KI, λ) must be selected in order to increase the efficiency of the multi-level inverter while decreasing the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the output current of the inverter as well as voltage. For this we used three meta-heuristic algorithms (PSO, ABC, GWO). The performance of the three controllers PSO-FOPI, ABC-FOPI and GWO-FOPI controller is compared. The findings showed that GWO-FOPI performs better than the other PSO-FOPI and ABC-FOPI in accuracy and total harmonic distortion THD term. The simulation will be conducted using Matlab/Simulink.
