    This brief review of main questions connected with identity and the structure of political science, focusing on the organizational and formal aspects demarcation of the scientific disciplines. The arguments, which has been presented, motivating the inadequacy area of politological research to traditional ways delimitation of political science boundary. The author tries to describe problems with answer on such questions how: What criteria provide the qualification of disciplinary appurtenance of scientific work and which constitutes the disciplinary range of politological research? What feature of scientific property, should be taken for classification an explorers to definite discipline? What is more significant, formal set of education or problems, which they really have undertaken in searches. The dilemmas in this sphere, emphasize the need of wider discussion, or maybe the reconstruction of criteria, which defining politological profile of research. These questions, although have a theoretical nature, possess essential practical meaning. This concerns, the defining the formal requirements of scientific promotion decisions, and institutional competence recognition.

    In article, author pay attention to the potential and scope of the impact of new forms of communication on the form and content of theoretical research. In principle, such an effect can be seen in two related, but different dimensions of analysis. In the first place it concerns the scope of the political theory, which is enriched with new areas and issues revealing previously unknown or not perceived problems, phenomena and processes that guide the interests of contemporary researchers. On the other hand, global mass communication techniques significantly shape, and thus change the existing forms of theoretical discourse and the structure of the theory itself. These changes in the perspective f plurality and decentralization of theoretical discourse subjects, as well as the emergence of new research areas which aspire to the status of scientific discipline, gain innovative importance especially from the point of view of the attempts to achieve meta-synthetic accumulation of social knowledge.

    Basic thesis of the article is the clam, that contemporary developmenttrends of theoretical reflection about politics show ideological associations of a slightly different character and in dimensions separate from those previously connected with classical philosophy of politics. As in the classical form of reflection normative involvement indeed stemmed from care about common well being and urge to search for ideal order model and social organization, current trends of development of political theory – especially postmodernistic influences on social sciences – indicate new forms of bonds with political axiology.
    Zasadniczą tezą artykułu jest twierdzenie, że współczesne trendy rozwojowe teoretycznej refleksji o polityce wykazują asocjacje ideowe o nieco innym charakterze i w innych wymiarach niż dotychczasowe związane z klasyczną filozofią polityczną. O ile w klasycznej formie refleksji zaangażowanie normatywne wynikało zasadniczo z troski o dobro wspólne oraz dążeń do poszukiwania idealnego modelu ładu i porządku społecznego, o tyle obecne trendy rozwojowe teorii politycznej – zwłaszcza wpływy postmodernizmu w naukach społecznych – inicjują nowe formy więzi z aksjologią polityczną.

    THE POLITICAL THEORY, similarly like the whole knowledge in social science, permanently evolves and enriches itself with new interpretations, forms and methods. This article discusses problems of postpositivistic turn in political theory that inspire new trends and forms of examination in political science. For the most part it is a result of the alternative to the positivism epistemological assumptions that are linking to the critical realism. These assumptions imply mutable (variable) opinions on matters relating to multidimensionality of investigations, range of generalization political theory, its axiological commitments, and transformational dynamics of the theoretical reflection about politics. These problems are very often and widely discussed in the Western literature; however, in Poland they are being discussed relatively rarely. Meanwhile, the representatives’ opinions of the post positivism make a significant contribution to the important scientific debate over the pattern of scientific perception, and the formulated polemical arguments strongly influence the development and identity of the political science, particularly its theoretical achievements (theoretical realization).

    Artykuł uzasadnia twierdzenie, że wśród socjobiologicznych koncepcji polityki można wyodrębnić trzy węzłowe sposoby interpretacji funkcji i odpowiadające im sposoby wyjaśniania zachowań w politycznej sferze życia społecznego. Są to interpretacje teleologiczne, deterministyczne i dialektyczne. Teleologiczne interpretacje funkcji są charakterystyczne dla koncepcji postrzegających procesy ewolucji w perspektywie realizacji uniwersalnych praw przyrody, jakimi są zasady reprodukcji i przetrwania. Wiążą się one z konceptualizacją polityki jako sfery rywalizacji i współpracy, optymalizującej warunki przystosowania na poziomie populacyjnym. Z kolei deterministyczne interpretacje funkcji są charakterystyczne dla interpretacji polityki i polityczności jako rezultatu oddziaływania czynników deterministycznych, zwłaszcza genów i wzorców fenotypowych. Najbardziej złożone formy wyjaśniania zawierają dialektyczne interpretacje funkcji, które pozwalają konceptualizować sferę zachowań politycznych w złożonej perspektywie relacji między czynnikami determinującymi a faktycznymi skutkami mogącymi przyjmować zarówno eufunkcjonalny, jak i dysfunkcjonalny charakter w odniesieniu do różnych poziomów analizy polityki.
    The article contains the justifie of claims that among the sociobiological interpretations of politics, we can distinguish three nodal methods of interpreting functions and corresponding methods of explaining behavior in the political sphere of social life. These are teleological, deterministic and dialectical interpretations. Teleological interpretations of functions are characteristic for the perception of evolution processes as universal laws imlementation of nature which indicates the principles of reproduction and survival. They are associated with the concept of political coexist seem as cooperation for optimization of adaptation conditions at the population level. In turn, deterministic interpretations of functions are characteristic for politics as the result of actions dependent on deterministic, special genes and phenotypic patterns. The most complex formulated explanations include dialectical interpretations of functions that allow conceptualization of the sphere of social behavior in the perspective of the relationship between determinants and actual effects that may take different nature. They can be eufunctional as well as dysfunctional nature depending on different analysis results.

    eTh article discusses the factors that encourage the use of the achievements of the broadly understood current of sociobiology in political science research. eTh guid ing thesis here is the assumption that the eefctive use of the achievements of sociobiol ogy for political science research may be an important factor inspiring new interpretations, explanations and forms of viewing the political sphere of social life. At the same time, it stimulates a broad view of the complexity of mutual relations between the sphere of culture and politics and biological factors. eTh condition for such a perspective is a de parture from the reduced, genetically determinist perception of sociobiology and the understanding of culture and politics both in terms of products and determinants of the natural environment. eTh structure of the argument is subordinated to attempts to an swer the following questions: Why is it worth being interested in using neo-evolutionist concepts to explain and describe the political sphere of social life? What is sociobiology and what theoretical assumptions can be a useful instrument of explanation in political science research?

    In the countries of Middle and Eastern Europe the collapse of „real socialism” was followed by the annulment of political and ideological supervision over scientific researches. Since then the political theory has been developing in an unembarrassed way, drawing investigative patterns with the tradition of western political sciences. Form this perspective, the expression „westernization” used with regard to political theory signifies the process of going away from Marxism and historical materialism. The article focuses on two essential trends of this process. The main consequence is the pluralization of theoretical bases of investigations, which signifies not only differentiation, but also the lack of predominant theory. The international program for monitoring the development since 1990, shows that new investigative trends disclose a division between the traditional and current model of politology, which demonstrates the topicality of arguments raised in western academic debatesover the theoretical condition and status of political science discipline.

    Applying systems analysis in political science research is still one of the important dimensions of political science methodology. Reconstruction of the functional model of the social system seems to be an attractive proposition for policy researchers. Signed by the name of Jeffrey Charles Alexander, the American version of neofunctionalism is one of the responses to the crisis of traditional forms of structural functionalism. The main purpose of the reconstruction of T. Parsons’s theory was its revitalization consisting in restoring the possibility of its application in contemporary social research. The reinterpretation of the classical approach was to a large extent “forced” by harsh criticism of the current approach and focused especially on attempts to overcome the limitations contained therein, which manifested in the impossibility of correlation of functional theorems with newly developing research currents Jeffrey Alexander restored relevance and emphasizes suitability for interpreting and explaining political processes and phenomena. Understanding the concept of functions and functional relations in the political environment allows for effective application in the analysis of contemporary political systems. Therefore, changing the method of functional analysis is a useful methodological tool in developing a political theory.

    The main thesis of the article assumes, that honesty and effectivenes or eficacy are complementary values of political action. This claim is still valid especially in conemporary normative political theory. Meanwhile, the results of empirical research shows, that voters perceive voters both of these features, as the contradictions of political action. The author analyzes the key reasons of this contradiction and indicates the conditions of its limitations.

    The article discusses premises for distinguishing scientific disciplines and their relationship to their object of research. The main thesis is related to the claim that currently, the disciplinary status of public administration research is a result of political decision rather than of the subject matter specificity and methodological consistency of the research problems. This is primarily influenced by the fragmented and hybrid nature of public administration issues. Next, arguments are presented for the separation of public administration from the political science perspective. Arguments justifying the close relationship between the problems of administration and political science are also offered. The focus is on an attempt to answer the questions whether administration only implements policy or also creates its value and goals, and why administration can be considered an integral part of the political sphere of social life. In this context, the conditions for capturing administration as part of politics and politicization of public administration are presented.

    Głównym zagadnieniem artykułu jest przedmiot badań politologicznych w Polsce. Autorzy starają się odtworzyć kształtowanie się owego przedmiotu na przestrzeni ostatnich kilku dekad, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem refleksji polskich teoretyków i teoretyczek polityki. Tekst został podzielony na trzy główne części. Pierwsza dotyczy czynników strukturyzujących przedmiot badań politologicznych (indywidualne zainteresowania badawcze, kształtowanie się poszczególnych paradygmatów i metateorii, moda, polityka organizacji dyscyplinarnej). Druga stanowi syntetyczną rekonstrukcję kształtowania się politologicznego przedmiotu badań. Ostatnia zaś, zawiera przegląd węzłowych problemów badawczych w interesującym autorów zakresie.
    The main topic of the paper is the subject of political science research in Poland. The authors try to reconstruct the formation of this subject over the last several decades, with a special focus on the reflections of Polish political theorists and theorists. The text is divided into three main parts. The first deals with the factors structuring the subject of political science research (individual research interests, the formation of particular paradigms and metatheories, fashion, the politics of disciplinary organization). The second is a synthetic reconstruction of the formation of the political science research object. And the last, provides an overview of the knotty research problems in the field of interest to the authors.
