Research protocol
Opis:
Objectives: The objective of this article is to establish a research protocol to determine if there is an association between the flu vaccine and Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). Methods: A case-control study will be carried out to determine whether or not there is a relationship between the flu vaccine and the GBS. For each case of GBS a control of the same sex and of similar age will be selected, and it will be determined if they have been exposed to the flu vaccine, in order to determine whether this vaccine increases the risk of suffering from GBS. Findings: The flu vaccine is not expected to be associated with an increased risk of GBS. Such a result would be of great importance for the patients and for the healthcare system. It would contribute decisively to reassure the general population, especially the risk groups that can benefit from flu vaccine, being able to inform them of its safety. Conclusions: It is recommended to carry out this protocol in different health centers to obtain reliable conclusions about the possible association between flu vaccine and GBS.

Opis:
Objectives: This paper focuses on the main characteristics of aging and cognitive decline, considering also the aging process through the conceptual prism of biology (mechanisms of shortening of telomeres, cell oxidation and decrease in growth hormone segregation). The main objective was to study the effectiveness of the use of video games as occupational therapy intervention in the cognitive training of the elderly. Methods: Literature review was carried out according to PRISMA guidelines. The PICO strategy was used for the research question construction and the literature search; the P would be equivalent to the target population (Elderly), the I would be equivalent to the intervention of the intervention group (Videogames), the C to the existence of a control group (Control) and the O to the objective or variable to be modified (Cognition). The search was done in different scientific databases: Medline (Pubmed), Academic Search Complete, Cinahl y Psycinfo (EBSCO), Ibecs y Lilacs (BVS) y OTSeeker. Findings: The results are promising in terms of the effectiveness of video games in the cognitive training of the elderly. However, the effects varied in the different categories of video games. Conclusions: The use of video games may be an effective occupational therapy intervention for the cognitive training of the elderly. New research is needed about the potential cognitive benefits of the different categories of video games.

Opis:
Objectives: A protocol for training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation in football is proposed. The protocol aims to train professionals in the field of football, as well as assess whether their training has been effective. The final objective is that, if necessary, they are able to carry out an intervention prior to the arrival of specialized care. Methods: The protocol is aimed at professionals in the field of football, as coaches or assistants, among others. The protocol consists of three phases: 1) Initial evaluation. 2) Training 3) Final evaluation. To obtain a positive evaluation, the participants must obtain a positive evaluation in all the evaluation criteria. Findings: It is expected that the percentage of participants with a positive evaluation after the training is significantly higher (p <0.05) than the percentage of participants with a positive evaluation before training, a result that will confirm the effectiveness of the proposed protocol for training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation in football. Conclusions: This protocol could be extrapolated to other sports and situations outside the sports field, such as shopping centers or schools.

Opis:
Objectives: The objective of this article is to present a research protocol to explore mental health care in the Moroccan immigrant collective. Methods: The study will be carried out through a qualitative perspective under a combination of the phenomenological approach and ethnomethodology. The selection of participants will be carried out by non-probabilistic sampling. Several types of profiles will participate in the study, both healthcare professionals and Moroccan patients, and semi-structured interviews will be conducted. Findings: The application of this research protocol will increase the knowledge about mental health care in the Moroccan immigrant group. By having health professionals more knowledge about it, they can create more specific health promotion and prevention programs for the Moroccan group, helping them in their adaptation process and reducing the stress and/or anxiety of the process. Conclusions: It is recommended to carry out this research protocol in different health centers to obtain reliable conclusions about mental health care in the Moroccan immigrant collective

Opis:
Objectives: The main objective of this article was to review the literature about the specific nursing care to adult patients with ECMO, identifying the existence of standardized care plans that optimize the quality of the care and favor the continuity of the care. Methods: A search was carried out in the following databases: CINAHL, CUIDEN PLUS, EMBASE, LILACS, MEDLINE, PUBMED. All reference lists were imported to a bibliographic manager (RefWorks), a tool used to eliminate duplicate documents. The inclusion criteria were: (1) original scientific article, (2) full text published in Spanish or English. The exclusion criteria were: (1) articles published in other languages, (2) articles in which the interventions performed on patients did not involve nursing participation. Findings: A review of 11 articles was carried out, analyzing the role of nurses and the care of patients with ECMO. It is important to highlight the importance of prior technical training and the thorough evaluation of all physiological systems and the ECMO circuit, without forgetting family support. Conclusions: The nurse must provide direct care to the patient with ECMO and to the circuit, carefully review all physiological systems and pay attention to the family members’ care. Therefore, the nurse acquires a primary role in the coordination of care and in the monitoring of the patient with ECMO.
