Opis:
The paper presents the methodology prepared by the author. During the process of acquiring new vehicles for the armed forces, time is of the essence in practice of conducting a wide range of structure changes in previously implemented undercarriages. It has to be pointed out that with a high individuality and the very nature of the units, difficulties in scope of comprehensive testing with regard to matters of transport safety. What is more, two determinants are essential in the process of acquiring equipment - time and cost. The process does not allow for improvement and perfecting of the structure, and the research in scope of wheel vehicle movement safety may be limited. The procedure of implementation and verification of equipment stresses the structure optimization as early as on the designing and prototype preparation stages. The procedure of acquiring new wheel vehicles for the military is one of the main premises for preparing the methodology with use of simulation research. Conducting research on the basis of the prepared methodology allows for avoiding possible traffic risks. The methodology enables an effective support for the current process of wheel vehicle acquisition for the armed forces. In this work the research procedure consisting of the necessary range of prepared, experimentally verified models, accepted by the methodology, have been verified. In order to do that two simulation models have been built, both of various levels of complexity.

Opis:
A common knowledge shapes our perception of the world and forms our understanding of political phenomena. And almost everyone could agree with the argument that circumstances influence politics. The ebbs and flows in influence, power, prerogatives, performance, and activity of many political actors are an effect of changes in the world outside of them. But one may reasonably argue: what is the cause and what is the result? Is it really true the circumstances evidently, clearly have an effect on e.g. US presidential prerogatives? Or, quite contrary, is the actual, current politics as active as the presidents used their power? The article is about how the two worlds influence each other, what are the mutual connections between politics and political actors’ powers.

Opis:
Within the context of increasingly digital work, it appeared interesting to look at how military leaders and their leadership style will have to adapt to remain “up-to-speed” with current challenges. It is qualitative research based on interviews with military and civilian experts. Four interviews have been conducted, but there would be the potential to interview many more experts and look deeper into the matter. Within the context of digitalised military leadership, the importance of communication and mutual trust has been underscored by the experts. They agreed that leaders nowadays must embrace digital developments and include them in their leadership styles. The civilian world can learn from the military when it comes to leadership approaches, which is happening at the time of publication of this article with practical examples (senior military leaders assigned to lead the pandemic task force in some countries). Overall, the outcome of the research is that a relevant and resilient military leadership style in the 21st century resembles the elements of the situational leadership style developed by Hersey-Blanchard.

Opis:
= c.k.; k.u.k. = c. i k.).
The aim of this paper is to discuss selected formal and pragmatic aspects of the Austro-Hungarian military name policy in the last quarter of the 19th and in the early 20th century. In the introductory section the proprial status of the names of military units (which constitute a part of military chrematonymy) is discussed. An attempt is made to outline the location of these names on the classifi-catory map of chrematonomastics as well. A brief discussion of the historical and terminological background of the Austro-Hungarian military unit names follows. The most important concepts of the theory of name and naming policy are outlined. The presentation of the analysed onymic mate-rial covers unit names included in the officer lists (Schematismen) of the Austro-Hungarian forces as well as names present in the paper seals (Verschlussmarken). On the basis of the material, polymorphism of the discussed names is shown in the sense that obligatory and facultative elements of the names may appear in different ways and within various syntactic name models, depending on the context (including continuous text within which a name is used). Two main syntactic models of the discussed names are proposed. The orthographic and syntactic rules of unit numbering and the ways of embedding geographical names and names of patrons and honorary regiment owners (Inhaber) into unit names are outlined. The meaning and spelling of the expressions imperial-royal (k.k. = kaiserlich-königlich) and imperial and royal (k.u.k. = kaiserlich und königlich) are explained.

Opis:
In the paper a chosen model of the light armoured vehicle was tested in terms of blast loading. More precisely, the blast propagation and interaction with the tire behaviour and suspension system elements of the light-armoured vehicle (LAV) was simulated. The chosen military vehicle meets the requirements of levels 2A and 2B of STANAG 4569 standard. Based on the obtained results, two modifications were proposed for the strength and resistance improvement of the wheel. The first consisted of inserting the rubber runflat ring inside the tire, whereas in the second the honeycomb-like composite wheel was implemented. Non-linear dynamic simulations were carried out using the explicit LS-Dyna code, with multi-material Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation for simulation the blast process.

Opis:
The aim of the paper is to explore the case of the NUP 2X35 strategic analysis campaign conducted by the Polish Armed Forces (PAF) and to identify lessons and best practices from employing the inclusive network approach to the conduct of strategic foresight analysis. The research process is centred around the following research questions: (1) What are the assumptions of the NUP 2X35 campaign of strategic analysis? (2) How was the strategic foresight analysis conducted? (3) What are the lessons and best practices from the campaign? (4) How can the case illustrate the employment of the concepts of a learning organization, open innovation and absorptive capacity in military organizations? The single case study methodology is employed as a framework for analysis. Data for analysis is collected from personal, participatory observations conducted by the authors, analysis of official documents related to NUP 2X35 released to the public, and opinions about the project expressed by key leaders of the Polish Armed Forces. The NUP 2X35 strategic foresight analysis is an interesting example of employing an inclusive, network approach to bring valuable external (civilian) knowledge into military analysis. The case shows how the armed forces recognize external knowledge, establish inclusive communities of interest grouping together military officers and civilian researchers to absorb this knowledge, how knowledge is assimilated and transformed, and finally exploited for the benefit of the Polish Armed Forces, the national defence sector and NATO. Moreover, the military pays back by increasing the awareness and understanding of defence and national security issues among the society.
